Hello,
I want to integrate my shield with my home automation system. And I have two difficulties.
1. I'd like to create a physical switch that would output the standby of the shield. And which would launch Deezer, then play a playlist. Ideally I would also like to be able to change playlist with a physical switch, but I'm still far from it. I just came up with IFTTT to launch Deezer using the "play music" command and then put Deezer as the default application to play music. But this does not launch a playlist.
2. To be able to choose music and playlist without turning on the TV, I would like to replicate the screen of the shield on an android touch pad. Is this possible without too much manipulation ?

I was trying out some DLNA apps the other day, as I have a DLNA server (Buffalo NAS) with some 9,000 songs and 30,000 photos. All of the computers/laptops use iTunes to access the server.
I was pretty interested that the NAS's DLNA seemed to categorize all the songs in a number of ways, and that the different players seem to handle it well.
Most of the apps seem to be capable of letting you use your phone as a controller to output to another DLNA capable device, e.g., a TV.
Some of the apps are only good for selecting and downloading a file directly to your SD card.
2Player DLNA Music Player was good at playing music files. Can output to another DLNA client. Simple interface, and allows selection of source and output via drop lists. Hit and Miss on iTunes album art, seems to be setup to not get art unless you are playing the song/album. Very quick to play, allows you to build playlists of songs and stays active in background. Only for audio/music files. Simple widget with 'now playing' and start/stop and next track control or just the controls I did get it to hang on a FLAC file. FREE and donate for karma-ware versions
UpnP DLNA Media Downloader: excellent at finding all types of files and only downloads to phone or output client prior to playing. I don't want to do this, I want to play from the server via a cache/buffer. If I want to download or sync (which is one of the functions), I can get WinAmp for Android which syncs, and has a really nice widget to play.
iMediaShare - automatic DLNA client, finds server(s) by self, needs time to populate lists and doesn't seem to cache much stuff in an intellegent manner (such as those lists) on your phone. Great match-up with iTunes album art. So, selecting an album via the Menu/Play All causes it to scan. Asks each time which device to output, recognizes Rockplayer and generic Android Music players. Asks too often and where. Should have a 'Settings' page to store/select these defaults. Doesn't stay active unless on main screen. Didn't find my DLNA photos, but did have a main page with iPod-like media on the web, YouTube, Picassa, TED, etc. I only played with free version.
Winamp Since there is a desktop version that syncs to the itunes or DLNA server, the Android version can hookup to that and sync to that. Stores music on SD card. It's not what I was looking for since to sync it must have an active windows computer and doesn't play directly from server. Winamp also takes over the music functions, and if you have a bluetooth music device that the X10 actually talks to as a controller, it will over ride the Mediascape app to play the music. Has some neat interface functions such as being accessed when the phone is locked. Nice widget for home screen.
There are some others out there, what have you tried?
2Player DLNA Music Player works precisely for wht i wanted
so I've used doubletwist (and airsync) on my phone for a long time, so I downloaded it for the transformer. It makes it so convenient to be able to sync all my music over wirelessly...
But anyway, I don't use it for actual music playback because I like the honeycomb player.
But now, for whatever reason, if i try to use the play or skip buttons on the keyboard, they open up the doubletwist player and start controlling that insted of the honeycomb one... Anyone know why or how to fix something like that?
thanks
*ahem... *
I'd guess the default music app is set to doubletwist. find app in settings and then clear application defaults. next time android asks how to handle music select the default app
Hi,
I saw people doing this with their Ipad via Icloud and I was wondering if someone could tell me how do you control music from your computer with your tablet.
The 2 things I want to do are:
1) Be able to control the music that is on my computer from my tablet so it plays on the computer speakers
2) Be able to play the music from my tablet on my computer speakers. For example: I am in the kitchen and want to use the AUPEO! apps from my tablet but want it to play on my computer speakers
Thanks to anyone who can help
I am rooted and I use Thor V14.2
Maybe Gmote?
Gmote would be the way to go for your #1 comment. For #2, you could enable the Clear Fi on the tablet (not sure if Thor ROM kept it on there), which turns your tablet into a media server, and then your computer should be able to pick it up, and start playing whatever shared media is on the tablet (this is using DLNA). If the ROM doesn't have Clear Fi installed, you can find quite a few DLNA server apps in the market.
I personally use this foobar remote. Lets me control foobar over Wifi LAN/Internet and basically play music on my PC speakers.
I also use ES File explorer to play files from my PC on the tablet. Works over Wifi LAN or you could setup an FTP or remote login.
PS: As a side note, if you guys are a sucker for stats, this particular (Remote System Monitor) app monitors everything about your pc...hdd usage, cpu usage and temp, gpu stats, network stats etc. Pretty neat....yea and probably off topic
Hope this helps
I use "Media Center Control" (on the market, not free). Can play audio and video on TV from A500. Works perfectly. Supports WOL.

You might want to check out XBMC. I have replaced my Windows Media Center with it and have not looked back.
Over Wifi I can see my entire video/music library and control what is playing on the PC. It also has a neat remote control feature for pausing and the like.
You will need the client on the PC and the android client is free on the market.
VLC works great. Try that out
Unified remote (http://unifiedremote.com/) is awesome as it will do what you are looking to do in #1 and #2, it has built in remotes that control mouse, keyboard, winamp, vlc, wmp, file browser, and a myriad of others. I especially like that I can power off my PC with it.
I use a Kinivo BTC450 bluetooth adapter that allows me to play music (or make phone) calls through my car stereo over BT. It works great. I have three of these...one for each vehicle.
When I get in any of the vehicles and press the big button on the Kinivo, music starts to play automatically through Poweramp. However, once in a while it will try to start playing music through the Amazon mp3 app but the app gives an error and if I press the Kinivo button again, music starts playing through Poweramp.
Now, there isn't a way to set up a default music player (AFAIK) on this phone. I never told Kinivo which app to use. How does it know to use Poweramp? Why doesn't it use the stock music player (which I've used before but don't anymore)? Why does it try to sometimes use the Amazon mp3 app?
I checked under the Application Manager and none of the these apps have anything set under "Launch by default" so I can't clear anything since the "Clear Defaults" button is grayed out.
I do have a small Poweramp widget on my home screen (no lockscreen is in use). Is this what is forcing Poweramp to be the "default". If so, why does Amazon mp3 sometimes try to start?
Thanks.
Hi. I noticed I get a music player card on the watchface when playing music (native android music player), but I still have to initiate from phone. I tried a plethora of voice commands, but only succeded in opening up obscure youtube flix or google searches.
Is there a command i missed, is there a widget, do I need to use google music?
Thx in advance
I think it depends on what music player you are using. Spotify works using the "Ok Google". I use Tasker + Autowear for quick access to music players, apps, etc. If Google Now doesn't recognize your voice well, you can try to train it or try the non-voice options.
So which are the non voice options? I'd rather go with them tbh. I use native android music player.
I went and got tasker + wear tasker. Not altogether happy with the latter, but it works.
