Does anyone know how to keep apps from auto updating on nougat. I have the setting in play store set to not auto update but some of them are still updating. Facebook and messenger have auto updated so far

So is there any way of stopping the OTA from downloading automatically. I know I can disable the OTA notification by blocking notifications from Google Play services but the update file is still being downloaded automatically, and then as soon as the phone is restarted it automatically installs the update.
I’ve turned off Automatic system updates in Developer options but it seems to do nothing, it still seems to check for updates and download them in the background.
I’m not rooted but I have got my bootloader unlocked. Anybody know of a way to stop all future updates from being downloaded?

Hello,
Someone mentioned this on another site:
Rename /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip to otacerts_bak.zip.
This prevent it from communicating with the OTA update server.
I don't know if it works. And I would disable automatic system updates though.
Also delete downloaded OTA from internal storage.
Good luck...
Hi,
I am now always greeted with the B003 updater notification when I start my tablet. If someone has figured out how to stop the updater from running, I would appreciate if you could let me know how you did it. I have turned off the auto check for updates and auto download updates in the settings, but that hasn't seemed to help.
Thanks
I think I have figured it out. I installed Link2SD (didn't even realize it had not been installed on this tablet) and then used that to Freeze the app. It has disappeared from the app list now, so hopefully it wont be nagging me anymore.
I am on Stock Nougat 7.0 14-4 March security update. Recently I got a update for Android Messages 2.3.269 from the play store and the updated app crashes upon opening. If I use an older version like v2.2.076, it works fine. I also downloaded different apps from APKMirror and those also crash upon opening. I attached a log of the crash of the clock app (http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...lease/clock-5-1-4224536-android-apk-download/) that I downloaded from APKMirror. Anyone know why the apps are crashing.
Figured it out. It was substratum on stock experimental. Uninstalled the dark theme and it worked fine.
I have a LS997 running the ZV7 software. For now I don't want to update to ZV8 or newer, so I want to block OTA updates. I have read through the other threads I could find about disabling OTA updates, but couldn't find an answer for the LS997 without root.
Here's what I have done so far:
- Use a package disabler to disable FOTA Update (com.lge.lgfota.permission)
- Disable automatic system updates in the developer options
So far this has been sufficient to prevent the ZV8 update from automatically downloading or installing, but I'm still getting an update notification as shown in the attached image.
That notification is coming from Google Play Services. The only way I have found to make it go away is to disable notifications from Google Play Services. I'm not entirely comfortable doing that though, since I don't know what other notifications I'm disabling.
This discussion lists some of the notifications that come from Google Play Services. I can live with losing those ones, but I'm a little worried that there might be something else more important.

Does anyone know of a better way to disable OTA updates and notifications? Thanks in advance.
