My OP2 started turning the screen off randomly. I tried rebooting, safe mode etc without any help. Finally I returned the factory settings. The problem persists, but it is now more systematic:
- when turned off, the battery charge animation shows on the screen
- after booting, the Oneplus logo and start-up animation show on the screen
- after that the welcome screen shows (as usual after returning factory settings) and I can select the language and press next >
- on the following page I can select the keyboard, but when I press next >, the screen turns off (but the phone stays on)
So, it seems that the screen and touch panel are functioning, because the first start-up pages are shown as usual. The third start-up page always turns the screen off, but before it does I can see that there would be wifi settings. Could it be that activating wifi (or some other?) resources have some impact on the issue? In any case this seems to be a HW-related.
Any ideas?

Today I had an alarm set, when the alarm went off I tapped hit the power button on the top of my phone to turn the screen off (and hopefully the alarm... but only the screen went off). The alarm continued to go, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get the screen to come back on.
I can fully interact with the phone (as if the screen was on). For example, pressing talk twice redailed my last call. Pressing power prompted to shut the phone off (could hear the "blurp"), etc.
So, after shutting the phone off (or resetting with pinhole reset), the display works fine while it is displaying the "Cingular - Raising the Bar" nonsense. As soon as that screen is done (where it would have normally showed the today screen), the screen just goes off...
Any ideas?

nevermind, when I put it under a bright light I realized the screen was on, the backlight was just off... somehow I must have hit some shortcut to turn the backlight off.

Don't sound too relieved...
Say hello to the Backlight bug.
You're backlight will keep setting itself to the lowest setting after every soft-reset, when you let it go into stand-by itself.
I'm still sufferering from it. It started when i first installed PocketZenphone.
So just want to give u a warning. Everytime you reset your phone, remember not to let it go into standby itself. Either tap the power button and turn the screen off, then turn it on agan. Otherwise, the Backlight will go to low again.
Last night my XDA Mini S froze while using PIE, so I did a soft reset, put the phone down and went to sleep. Noticed this morning that it's stuck at the Windows Mobile splash screen - still in Landscape mode which is what I was using when PIE froze. Done another soft reset, same problem. My LEDs are flashing as usual, one green and the Bluetooth one.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ok, it started working for some reason - but I noticed when it got to my today screen that my NotesToday plugin wasn't there. I went into Settings > Today > Items, and NotesToday was ticked. I unticked it, clicked OK, then re-ticked it and it showed up again on my today screen. Fine. However now everytime I press the power button to come out of sleep mode, my Today screen flashed up fine for about 0.5 sec, then flashed white for a millisecond, then comes up fine EXCEPT the whole "top" bar (i.e. the part of the screen with Start button, clock, signal strength, etc) stays solid white, and I can't see any of those icons. Rest of the screen is fine. If I click Unlock, the whole screen is fine after that.
Help!
I had a similar problem with a different part of the screen staying white after coming out of hibernate (the O2 active UI sidepanel)...Hard reset fixed it and the problem hasn't returned (although I don't use the O2 UI now...)
If your device freezes on the Windows loading screen, then soft reset it and while it is loading the next time, press one of the hardware buttons, such as the D-pad or the green or red phone buttons, continually as it loads. This should keep the lights behind the buttons turned on, and it should load Windows without a problem.
Had the same error on my phone, I think it tries to hibernate as it loads Windows or something equally stupid. Pressing a button continually prevents this and allows it to load normally.
After doing a hard reset on my perfectly-functioning Pro the other day, the screen and buttons have now stopped working. My question is two-fold:
1. What the heck is going on?
The phone worked fine until I did the hard reset. Now, when I do a hard reset, everything appears to work correctly through the screen-alignment. The screen responds properly at that stage. Immediately afterward, the normal Today screen pops up for a split second. After that, the "Treo Customization" screen comes up, and that's where it all goes to hell. After the "Treo Customization" runs its course, the phone says "tap screen to reset." After tapping the screen, the phone responds and resets itself.
After that, a blank today screen appears. The tool bar on top is there and the background is there, but that's it. The screen and buttons are unresponsive except to brighten the screen after it periodically dims. Several other functions continue to work. I can activate wifi via the side button. The top button turns off the screen. Strangely enough, the QWERTY keyboard is completely unresponsive, except that the search button works (alt button and magnifying glass).
Does this sound like a hardware problem? Could it be fixed with a flash and new rom?
2. I tried to flash the phone and install a new rom to see if that would help, but I was unsuccessful for the following reasons: 1) When I run PANTHER_CDMA_HSPL_V101, the bootloader screen appears, but immediately upon that occurring, my sync connection disappears, so I can't proceed through my computer. 2) I can't run the manual flash program (SSPL-Manual-PantherCDMA) because I have no functioning controls on the phone itself.
Any ideas? Is there any way to achieve a flash on an unresponsive phone, or should I start shopping?
Thanks!

Hello guys, my Nokia 6.1 Plus has developed a weird problem. When I turn on the phone the screen lights up as normal, displaying the androidone logo followed by the NOKIA logo before proceeding to the homescreen where it operates as normal. However, when I press the power button to turn the display off or when the display times out and goes off it doesn't wake up. It remains dark when I double tap on the screen or when I press the power button. The screen turns on but remains dark as I can feel it vibrate and respond to touch when I touch anywhere on the screen. I basically have to restart the phone to get it working again. The phone is basically unusable as I can't have the screen stay on all the time for me to use it.
What might be causing the problem and what can I do to remedy it?
Try to backup your important data and perform a factory reset.
May b it's hardware problem
Galaxy S5 G900F klte with LineageOS/eOS (Android 11) TWRP and Magisk Root.
The Screen works fine after booting the device. But:
- after the Screen Time out starts - the screen stays black (sometimes flickers a bit when pushing power button)
- also if i manual turn off the screen with i.e. pushing the power button - the screen stays black (sometimes flickers a bit when pushing power button)
Rebooting or taking battery out and back in doesn't help most of the time to get the screen back - and after the first screen time out / turning off screen manually it stays black anyway.
So at the moment I can only use the phone at home with my laptop (with scrcpy ).
I don't think it is a Hardware problem because when I boot into TWRP the screen works fine - for testing purposes i stayed for 2 days in TWRP and the screen came always back to life after every screen time out during the whole time.
Also the touch still works even if the display is black - when i see the screen on scrcpy i can see it functions normal when i touch around on the display.
I also noticed that the screen comes often back alive when i first start scrcpy with the --turn-screen-off flag and then push the home button 1 or more times on the phone)
Any suggestions how to fix that?
Is there maybe a graphics driver i could disable/change/switch in the development options?
