XXJVH Latest Feedbacks

Hi all !
I know that it may be too soon to ask for battery problems (as the fw was released only 4-5 days ago) but can you please tell me if the Gallery bug is still present? I use stock gallery and on JVK was very choppy. I have JS8 now and I'm still standing by. Also, could you please tell me if the status bar icons are the same as in Froyo, or are they like the ones in JVK? I understand that the call delay problem is solved, the alarm bug is still present in some cases while for some the alarm works great. Which one is it? Wi-Fi strength is ok? Some say that it has poor wi-fi signal. GPS lock works fast? And any other bugs if you found I don't care about Quadrant scores or any lagfixes. I don't use any, nor Custom ROMS or root. I am only on stock fw and apps. Thank you for your time and I hope your answers will be useful not just for me but for all of us out there who haven't yet decided to flash this new firmware. I installed today JVH, no battery drain so far, the alarm bug isn`t there, triple checked. No Wi-Fi issues, signal strength the same. Came from a perfectly good JS8, working flawlessly with docs rom and i ain`t disappointed. TV-off animation is great.
PS: Daca iti merge telefonul bine, poti sa ramai pe js8 pana apare in kies in toate regiunile.

OK. But how about the gallery? And the status bar, the same as XXJVK or as in Froyo?

I have found useragent problem on browser ( And Dolphin HD) Even though you set the useragent to desktop, stays on mobile view

Status bar now has updated icons to go with gingerbread.

Bluetooth sound quality improved.

I'm using calendar widget. (stock one, from system)
And for example I make a task for today at 20:00 which is called "I Tock",
than I want to change the letter T to R, and I enter calendar app, edit the task to "I Rock", but my widget on homescreen still says "I Tock". I had this issue on older roms too.

Gallery works fine. GPS working fine, lock in just a few seconds, but I think on JS8 it was more accurate.
Ro: Fa update la JVH, merge mult mai bine si fara lag. Eu sunt multumit, desi eram sceptic daca sa trec pe el sau nu, avand in vedere ca JS8 mergea perfect.
Pe jvh nu i`am facut decat un simplu root si o sa ma gandesc daca sa`i schimb sau nu kernelul. Probabil ca o sa mearga si mai bine, daca se poate mai bine, cu un kernel custom.
PS: The boot screen animation is lagging on my phone. Same on yours ?

It is awesome.battery issues have vanished,alarm is totally fixed much quick.feels like a total different phone.

call delay bug fixed
what sucks is the browser scroll behavior is still there, and also noticed that the browser storage always defaults to phone instead of sd card no matter if i change it, it changes back.

Frontcam bug concerning video-call apps like Fring, Oovoo, etc.
The people you videocall, will see you up side down!!
A real bugger; I tried installing older and different versions of the videocalling apps, but the same. You will see yourselve like it is supposed to be, but the other person will see you upside down. Everybody can easily check this by download Fring from the market and make a test-videocall. During playback of this test video, you'll see yourselve upside down:-((

Newest JVH is one of my favorite but JVK is more stable in a way.

@ OP yes the gallery is still a slow pile of turd, maybe one day it will be smooth

flash player issue
one of my favorite websites, abc.net.au, got me stress. I tried to play their flash based video but after several seconds of audio only, the browser has been force closed again and again.
anyone have a idea?

[BATTERY DRAIN] mm-qcamera-daemon

Hey guys,
Biggest issue I've found so far on lollipop is mm-qcamera-daemon process that drains battery super fast and makes the device super hot. Anyone with this issue? There is also a bug report here --> https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/nexus/GYdTZSdsUl0/kA8MjJYz_AUJ Maybe if we all post about this problem, Samsung will work with Google and fix this issue on lollipop because on KitKat I didn't had it and had the same apps installed.
EDIT : The issue seems to be Viber app

I only use Hangouts, WhatsApp, FB messenger and Viber. It must one of these 4 .

I use FB and WhatsApp (all beta version) and mm-qcamera-daemon process is not present in Battery.

Then it must be Viber. I'm gonna uninstall it and I'll report back .

I'm having an intermittent battery drain issue but don't have Viber installed.
How did you diagnose what was draining the battery? I tried wake lock detector but it now requires root. Sucks that Google changed the interface.

Does mm-qcamera-daemon process showes up in the battery section as you can see in the screenshots I posted?

Nope, just ring tone for individual person (at least I didn't find it)

Very bad. At Nougat I could.

Unfortunately Samsung removed the custom sms tone that you could select in the contact apps (if the contact was on the phone btw) in Oreo. I guess because of the new notifications system in Oreo.
To get the same feature, you can install the "Android Messages" SMS client (the one from Google) and let it replace the Samsung messages application. With android messages you get a distinct notification for each conversation. And as such you can have a distinct tone for each conversation (so for each individual person). I have not tried to see if the custom notification persist if you remove the conversation (I know it was NOT the case in Nougat for either Android Messages, or Textra can't remember exactly)

I can confirm on my phone that this feature is gone after the Oreo update
(I had the beta but never checked or used it)

I know for a fact on the Verizon messaging app you can set different notification sounds for each individual contact

Have same issue since Oreo update yesterday. Need another option for messaging since custom tones are gone

Galaxy S8 no longer has the ability to do individual sms notification sounds after oreo update in the native messenger app. Samsung/Google really dropped the ball on that one. I guess it's their way of forcing us into a different messaging app. What's next... they'll take away the ability to make phone calls so that we have to use an app like Facebook messenger or hangouts to make calls?

This is the stupidest **** ever. I ****ing hate when am "update" ends up removing features you used to have. And no I don't want to use a 3rd party sms. I ****ing hate the oreo update.

Hey everyone. This may be a good temporary fix if you want to keep the default Samsung SMS app for now:
Note: Unfortunately I am not able to post a link. The app is called SMS Popup and there are really good instructions on how to set it up on a site called the androidsoul
This loads a small separate app that overrides just the notification portion of the default Samsung messenger app. Haven't tried it yet...that's next. But it looks promising.

I was wondering if this actually worked since it doesn't look like Zedge can do it and a reviewer commented that they couldn't get this working either...still would prefer to have this baked into the OS like it was in Nougat but wanted to see if this worked and how well it works (glitches like not working...I had this app when I had my Nexus 5 and it was ok...can't recall why I uninstalled eventually tho).

The site I found the info on was from March 22 and listed the S9 as one of the devices the fix will work for, so I hope it is the magic "temporary" key. If someone beets me to testing it, please post your results. I have to wait until I am done doing some business before I start messing with my messenger

Huh? I know about Textra but it doesn't play nicely with my Gear S3 Frontier so no thanks.
I actually liked Samsung Messages (especially since I've ditched other 3rd party launchers and use Samsung themes) and it did everything I wanted on Nougat...Samsung's implementation of OREO is a PITA tho. Hoping with enough complaints that they add back 'Message Notifications' in 8.1 / Samsung Experience 9.0.1.
(Yeah, I've used Textra before -- still a great app as well Pulse, Mood, and with Android Messages moving to RCS - it's a good (yes still simple) messaging app too.)

Samsung have removed this option on the S8 OREO & S9. The best way I have found is to install Textra SMS.
This is fully customisable...

Is there a working Gcam for s10 plus exynos?

any Gcam iv ever installed either,
1. Doesn't open at all
2. Crashes when I press anything
3. When I take a pic the pic comes out nearly black
4. When I change settings it crashes
5. When I leave the app and go back in it crashes
6. Just never works basically.
Is there a version thats better than the Samsung camera app that I can actually use from day to day?
If so could someone send me the link to the newest version.
If possible thank use.

I have the gcam 6.1 with its libs install and I have working all ot options. The only bug was that it fc if I turn on the flash.

Call Recording on Mi 9T 6/64 available?

Hi guys,
I can't find the answer I need, so made a new thread.
Right now I am using Mi A1 (with MIUI Epic 9.10.10) and plan to buy Mi 9T 6/64 from Europe (Bulgaria).
I presume it will come with European version of the MIUI, where as I know the built-in call recording is disabled. That feature is quite important for me and I can't trust the third party apps that should do the job.
As up-to-date, is it still available in the European ROMs? Also, can I flash some of the Chinese MIUIs, where this function is available?

You have it on stock rom enabled, mi9t (non pro) is the last phone that has it, mi 9t pro does not have it.

If you plan to root it via magisk you can give skvalex call recorder magisk moudel a try it is the best call recorder with multi options and privacy.. Security.. You will buy it for sure

Hi. I have tested Skvalex on Ulefone Armor X5 using root and Magisk module, but can't hear the other party. Total Recall with root and Magisk works on this device with both parties recorded. But thanks for the advice anyway.

I bought it and yes, call recording is available. Great device. The AOD and the pop-up camera are amazing.
Another thing. Does anyone know how to enable fullscreen caller ID?
I had it on Mi A1 with MIUI Epic ROMs. Just had to mark the contact as Favorite and the ID was on fullscreen. Now, same these contacts are in my Favorites list and the ID is a small, round one.

EDIT: Never mind. I found the solution of the fullscreen. You have to select an image for your contact from the phone gallery instead of the one synced with your google account. It works that way.
