How to remove bloatware

- Download and install debloater here
- Enable developer options in your Mate 8
- Open the debloater and tick the app you want to disable
- Now you can disable most china bloatware in your phone, I have disable all chinese in my phone without root.

Looks suspicious, anyone virus scan/confirm?

Already did -thanks for Your comment on the other thread too. Problem is I cannot unblock the missing PhoneManager; got quite stucked here right now..

hm, are u still in touch with the previous owner? maybe ask him what he did exactly to the phone, modify it in any way? that way u might better be able to tweak it to your likings...

Thanks for advice; but this is exactly the problem:
I have ordered my Mate 8 at Valuebasket.nl (they also exist in .be, .co.uk, .de), as a new handset. On delivery/ opening the box it was obvious, that this Mate 8 was a used/repacked one, it had still had a third party screen protection plastic on the display, and after turning on instead of android start menu it started up with home screen -and a retail demo video of Mate 8.
Of course I have contacted Valuebasket.nl, but they (although promised "to help to solve my problem") do not response, so it looks I get stucked with a used, demo (?) model -for the price of a new one
Further inspection of the Mate 8 revealed the 'blocked' PhoneManager (it IS in the map system apps (ES file explorer), but not in the application list, and it shows as 'blocked' in Debloater, Uninstaller Pro; unable to unblock it without root), and lack of a number of settings items (memory, battery, battery saving, sceenlock and passwords, locations, notifications, protected apps, print), making the handset practically unusable.
So in my attempt to fix it I hope to unblock PhoneManager (maybe it solves the missing setting items too?) I cannot get any help from previous owner (with ValueBasket stating this is a new, unused handset); only can hope on some help from the community..
As rooting is not my favorite (Kingroot was unable to do the job, the Italian knife way sounds not really attractive; after fixing the phone I would like to unroot it again), is there any other way to fix PhoneManager?
Through ADB as SU copying PhoneManager apk in system map is an option, or does it work only -again- if rooted? Any other options -without rooting?

Would be happy to do that; but ValueBasket (after an initial response "let's help us to sort it out") does not respond to my mails.. I proposed them to receive a new Mate 8, THAN returning the damaged one (the delivery of this phone took about 3-4 weeks, and I NEED the mobile), but I am afraid it will not work. Be advised.
Anyway, so I am looking for a plan B:
- ADB transfer PhoneManager to system map, or
- flashing the phone (never did before)
are options/ can be done by someone with little experience in this?

Anybody know which apk is hivoice and is it safe to disable ?

whatever u set it to in settings/apps/advanced/default apps/assistance app u can set whichever app u like to replace this quick swipe start. i use google app for that

i tried and i could change that well. i set it to HomeLauncher. very usefull. thnx

Wow that actually worked! It was hwvassistant. Now i can use google on tap without root, this is pretty awesome

Samsung Lab in Settings?

I have the T-Mobile variant and I do not see the Samsung Labs in settings. This is where we can turn off the app icon on the home screen. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

I got my s7 already and installed nova, but wouldn't that be a touchwiz setting?

Its probably disabled by t-mobile if your phone is a carrier version

I was looking for it also I didn't see it

I am running Nova but I don't see it either way.

If Tmob removed SLabs and Whitepages I might have to return the phone and go international.

I won't be running the stock rom for long anyway.

Agreed. I wanted to try going without the app drawer (I'm aware of Nova Launcher). I don't know why T-Mobile would remove this from the phone.

Yea, surely it isn't a tmob thing.. maybe in the true release date they will have a software update

Sure seems like it. I have a Battery section in my settings now, sure didn't on the Beta.

If you select "View as simplified list" in the settings menu then there is a "Device Maintenance" entry. It seems like it's just a category for four other settings pages, so not sure if it provides the same functionality as before.

Well dang. Mine doesn't have it either. So what else did Verizon omit or change? They settings menu is still the same as Marshmallow.

Samsung Pay can be dowloaded from Galaxy Apps (in your Samsung folder in app drawer)

You can easily get this back and many other international features using this.

Samsung Keyboard Themes

Just saw that Samsung added different keyboard themes (4 of them) 2 dark and 2 light one with keyboarders and one without of each color! I'm guessing its a Samsung Experience 9.5 feature i didn't see the option on the Note 8 or S9.
Can be found under Settings> General Management> Language and Input> On Screen keyboard> Samsung Keyboard> Keyboard Layout and Feedback

This feature is on the note 9. I haven't had it on the note 8 or even s8/s9.

Yup, however it's bound to appear via an update and you never know when that update will be, so I wanted to see where the setting is in the settings pages. Thanks for the screenshots. Now I can check back at that page after system updates.

I'm sure its because it's on the note 9. I have the note 9 model number SM-N960U with Samsung experience 9.5

Oh and a huge heads up... you should probably look where you are posting. This specifically says note 9 for categories under the forums as highlighted in blue in the picture attached

It does not show that on Tapatalk. Also the two phones share the same OS, until recent updates. Anyway not the end of the world.

It seems that Android/Google is giving carriers the ability to lock APN editing e.g. you can edit AT&T APNs but not Verizon APNs.

I understand the provided APNs can be locked by carriers. But you can still add a brand new APN configured to your taste, and set that one active.

No, that does not work either.
I see that you are with AT&T therefore may not be aware of the issue. Google this: "access point name settings are not available for this user"
