So i still havent came across a legit V20 Factory unlock method for sprint variant that doesnt involve rooting and flashing the US996 Rom anything out there?!

no and there never will be.. its not factory unlockable its bootloader locked. The root method is replacing the locked bootloader with the us996 unlocked one. No other way around it. You can buy a unlocked version if you would prefer but the LS997 is locked and most likely all newer phones will be locked going forward.
So those pages saying they can unlock it for a fee are lying?
The reason i havent done it with the root method is because ive heard its really buggy and unstable. And something about static screen which idk what it is lol

uicc sim unlock isnt unlocking the bootloader.
2 diffrent things. If you own your ls997 and its paid for sprint will unlock for free,
otherwise your asking someone to help you unlock a either stolen device or one that's not legally allowed to be unlocked since you haven't fully paid for the phone. The later is something that's prohibited on XDA
---------- Post added at 05:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:58 PM ----------
The uicc card slot is unlocked with dirty santa as a SIDE EFFECT, was not the intentions of unlocking the device.
The process was targeted at the boot-loader and the ability to have it unlocked to be able to customize the device and change the software.
The UICC unlock is something else, and can't be discussed on here really. If a MOD would like to correct me, i'm pretty sure device unlocking, and anything related to that is a no-go topic. Legally Sprint or any other company for that matter has to provide the unlock for the device once it completes its term or is paid off, other wise there's a reason why it cant be "unlocked" by them, usually theft is the reason, or past due / delinquent acct
Ohhhhhhh i see..

I currently have the N5 and enjoy how easy it was to unlock and load custom roms.
Does Sony Z2 have an easy to unlock bootloader? One of main reasons I sweared off of Samsung is their draconian bootloader policy.

Hmmm....Well my Note 3 doesnt have a unlockable bootloader... Now that thats out of the way
I am also interested in this. The Z1s's bootloader it not unlockable, while the Z1's is....so im guessing if you pay full price then you will have an unlockable bootloader. Who knows when this is going to come to the US though, if it will.
I think with Samsung handsets, anything that's not a developer edition is garbage from a modder's pov. Sorry to say, as their hardware is usually top notch, but their software drags them down.

Mmm.. Isn't the z1s is the t-mobile version of the z1 ?
Maybe that's the reason it has locked bootloader

I wasn't meaning to start a convo about that.. But just needed to point out that not everything is locked down... lol
A dev edition isn't needed with an unlock able bootloader.
Also flashing an aosp rom on a note is a crime on its own.
I can only say that about the note though. Everything else, aosp it up!
Now...we just need someone that has the device to let us know if this is locked down or not. For me it's this or the new htc one. Both have SD card slots...so that makes it even harder now!!

Yep, but t mobile isn't all that known to lock stuff down. So it sucks. I hope the X2 doesn't meet the same fate.
im not sure about xperia z2 but most of sony phones and all the flagships can be get unlocked bootloader (unless they have network lock. this phones cant be unlocked using official method)
For Sony Xperia this is how it was.. I don't know if Sony changed anything with these 2014 devices...
1) Backup the TA partition
2) Unlock the bootloader
3) have fun
If you want to get it back
1) install stock kernel and rom
2) restore the TA partition ( this will lock the bootloader as well )
3) have fun
The TA partition includes the DRM keys and some other secured stuff, If you unlock the bootloader without backing up the TA partition, your DRM keys will be lost forever, NEVER EVER try to use any other device TA partition backup or your device will be hard bricked even if both were the exact same model...
Its funny that even if there is a temp root for the xt1028 model, sunshine still doesn't work.
EVEN when there was a bounty, nothing came about it.
I'm about to just toss this phone away.
Root and bootloader unlocking is never guaranteed and tbh everyone knows verizons phones are the most locked down and only a few have ever had their bootloaders unlocked, so if you wanted bootloader unlocking and root its your fault for buying a verizion carrier phone.
If you toss it just say where you will do it, so I can go for it .
Why don't you sell it and buy an unlockable modem?
Need to unlock my phone? IS there a way to do it ourselves or any cheap websites or suppliers. I have the U software installed. How or where to unlock that will do it?

I think you ought to have unlocked before going the U-way. Most unlocker I found utilize the Tmobile unlock app to unlock which is only found on the stock Tmobile firmware. I dunno. Anything is possible. I'm also seeking to unlock mine... I'm outside the US. So I guess I have better chance. Wish there was some free way though.. Goes from $20 to $30 on eBay.. Ain't no cheap unlock these days.

Not really but my guess would be you have to use the stupid unlock app that comes on t-mobile phones. Try www.cellunlocker.net , pretty sure they have the method to unlock using the t-mobile app.

Ok I unlocked 3 T-Mobile s7 edge devices thru unlock base and this is what you have to do
You have to flash the T-Mobile firmware back to your phone thru odin.. Take your sd card out and make sure to click nand erase all while flashing T-Mobile firmware .. You can do this before or after you purchase T-Mobile app unlock.. I did it afterwards
Once you have t mobile firmware on phone use the unlock app to unlock.. Then I flashed the U firmware back but I did NOT do nand erase this time.
My phone is on cricket unlocked and working
Remember to nand erase first or you will get a error on the unlock app because flashing other software such as U screws up the unlock app.. So do a nand erase
You do have to use the unlock app but doing it my way here works perfectly!
Works perfectly.. I done 3 T-Mobile s7 's so far

on the top of the unlock to be able to use the phone in the USA (and we're not offering cleaning service)
which means you won't be able to use in usa
but please contact them about it
I just got unclocked from a seller on ebay. Presently $69.5.. Before unlock my imei was blacklisted. But now imei appears to be clean. Is that how they unlock? Clean imei and then place a call to tmobile for unlock? If there's anyone wanting to unlock, go for esn cleaning 1st (about $20) and call tmobile to unlock your phone and see if they'll do it for free.
I saw a lot of people in the bootloader unlock thread talking about this. By flashing the stock factory image from Google, you haven't completely converted it to a Google phone. OTAs will still come from Verizon. There is almost no way to stop this: PLEASE be careful before taking OTAs in case Verizon does something shady with unlocked devices.

Ota's come from Google. Not Verizon. Your sim dictates what other BS happens with your phone. As long as you have a Verizon sim in a Verizon pixel you'll have a Verizon pixel. I'm pretty sure they pool the cid of Verizon pixels so they know which ones to allow bootloader unlocking and which ones to flag as ineligible.

It's based on the IMEI number. Verizon OTAs differ from Google ones, even if they come from google
So, if I have a Google firmware installed on an unlocked Verizon device using a T-Mobile SIM, will I get OTA's at all?

It uses the IMEI number to verify which OTAs to download. That doesn't change, it's tied to your specific phone
Why even bother with OTAs at all?
If you took the time to unlock the bootloader and get root, why would you not flash the stock images when they show up on googles developers page?
If you've loaded TWRP at all or mounted system rw; OTAs will not work.
I unchecked OTAs in developer options.
When new ones come out, I'll update when I feel like it.

For clarification, OTAs all come from Google, but Google occasionally has different OTAs for phone variants depending on your carrier associated IMEI (If you go to Google's OTA download page, you can see these in the description - there will be multiple OTAs for a date with different carriers).
Hey just came across this thread and not sure if the general consensus is accurate as far as it updating to the IMEI or not. I am currious though since I do have a Nexus 6 that has the VZW IMEI (starting with 99) but want to say once I switched to the FI sim card and away with VZW and flashed the FI software for the Nexus 6 it did in fact update to only the FI software from that point on. I could be wrong but I do not recall ever having to flash the FI software after updates due to it being VZW relased software. And in case anyone care I did notice that the unlockable Google software does in fact have VZW programs in it they are frozen by default in Titanium Backup. But like I said just 2 cents worth and not able to confim it 100%.

No, I have unlocked the bootloader on my wife's pixel 2 from EE, I can now load custom software, so reloaded Google's factory image, but the phone is still sim locked to EE. It's definately an IMEI thing, not software.

I have sprint LG V20. I purchased unlock code from a 3rd party, however when i insert a t-mobile sim it doesn't ask me for code or anything. Was anyone successfully able to unlock Sprint using a code?
Ditto
I am having that exact problem. I believe the issue is that sprint uses CDMA network settings and the other carriers use LTE/GSM.
Im trying to figure this out too. Im trying to use att card and get no prompt for a code. Just invalid sim card. Dialer codes dont work either.
Sprint v20(ls997) has no "unlock code prompt".It is both CDMA and GSM capable device but is "locked" to sprint. You have 4 options to unlock it
1: call sprint and ask for a unlock if the phone is paid off and not blacklisted (might work)
2: unlock via remote unlock from one of those unlocking sites or ebay listings.(tell them your firmwire and whatnot beforehand)
3:If you are under firmwire ZV7 firmwire you can try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/lg-v20-cdma-to-lte-gsm-switch-via-t3602409 it requires NO root
4:you have to be under ZVC firmwire and root your device then you will have us996 rom which will unlock you device as well.
I have a ls997 rooted running on gsm just fine, just know there is no unlock codes for the sprint variant , like all sprint devices.

zvc is arb01, and has no root.So right now, you can't root or rollback to previous version to root. you will either have to wait for root( if someone is even working on it) or find someone that unlock for you using one of those unlocking sites but they do charge quite a bit for a simple unlock.
