[30/09/11] [Q] [DEV] Reception problems during movement and in general

Hello everyone,
Since the beginning of the Android period, I've been experiencing reception problems, as well as a few friends of mine. The phone is continually searching for signal and losses it quickly, jumps from HSDPA to other means, and also has the problem of regaining the signal after going through a tunnel etc.
I am not a developer myself, but was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problems and if there is anything to be done about it.
I know there was a slight fix introduced not too long ago in Tytungs kernel, but for me things still pretty suck.
If you have something to say about this, please do. Otherwise, a mod can handle the positioning of this thread. No need to start flaming if you have nothing to say.
All Hail XDA!!

Thread reported to forum mod, Why don't you realise even after placing [Q] in the heading that you need the Q&A forums.
As for your concerned problem, i havn't faced that till now except for the fact i have data drops seldomly.
I have the same problem. I've tested several ROM, radios, Magldr clk...
I always use the *#*#4636#*#* trick. But I always have to return to 2G only.
I think that there must be different kind of hardware that avoid getting a decent signal level.
I tried the Probable Hardware Fix For HD2 Poor Signal too. I have better reception but no as solid as with 2G
I love the phone but when I use only 2G I want to cry (almost everytime).
Thanks in advance, Paco
Just something I would like to throw out there, I also have reception issues on ANY rom, but its occurrence seems to be like the original iPhone 4 came out, terrible reception if you squeeze the whole phone with your hand. I prove that theory by doing that in my room, if i dont touch the phone (just the screen) and browse the web, I do it with full bars. But as soon as I pick up the phone and browse, it will drop very quickly to 1 or no bars (from 4). See if you can trial this yourself, put phone down and browse web, and then hold the phone and try it. See if that makes a difference. Does for me.
There was a thread a while back about this and it showed a screen that you can get to that shows how long you have had signal and I remember looking at it in mine and it showed that I was without signal at least a third of the time the phone was powered on. I don't remember how to get to it any more or I would show you a screen shot of it. I have constant full bars of H where I am and even not moving the phone still shows this same behavior of dropping connection to the towers.

[Q] Why might battery drain be worse on wi-fi?

Hi - newbie here hoping to get to the bottom of my battery drain problem.
Somewhat unusually I think, I am seeing problems only when I have wi-fi switched on. It took me a while to realise as I have wi-fi at work and home and I wouldn't normally have turned wi-fi off as I always understood that 3G uses more power.
I tried installing BetterBatteryStats but I am not rooted so it is only giving limited information. What it does tell me is that I am draining the battery at a rate of 9% or so an hour on wi-fi and about 1.4% on 3G. This is with very light or no actual use of the phone. The top two wakelocks by a big margin are msm_hsic_host and PowerManagementService.WakeLocks.
I have virtually nothing running according to my running processes list - mainly the Google ones like Google Play Services, Google Keyboard.
I couldn't put my finger on exactly when this started but it was towards the end of 2013. I did have the really bad drain with Google Play for a few days until the next Android update came. What I'm seeing now is not as bad as that was. I couldn't say whether I had a period after that update when things for a while were better than they are now but my feeling is that things have never been great since the 4.4 updates.
Does anyone have any suggestions please? Am I going to have to root to get better info to debug this problem?
OK, I'm too having this problem and couldn't find any concrete solution for this.
Without full use of batterystats application, the information that you provide don't help much.
Could be many things.

Mobile data battery drain when phone not in use

I'm running lollipop on my n910c and having problems with battery drain when using mobile data. I didn't have this issue when on kitkat. Leaving mobile data on, even when not using the phone, seems that many apps that use the internet keep draining battery non stop. This doesnt happen when connected on WiFi.
Apps or processes like Google services, Samsung push service, even whatsapp and viber show up in the battery ussage when phone has been not in use most of the time. None of these show when using wifi and the difference in battery drain is huge.
Right now i dont have screenshots but will upload when possible.
I used to keep my mobile data always on. Now only when i really need it.
A friend of mine has an S5 and has the exact same issue after upgrading to lollipop.
Has anyone found a fix for this or am i doing something wrong?
Sorry for long post but i hope to find a solution which may help anyone with this problem and I think there are a lot of them.

GPS/location issues

Hello all,
My only gripe besides battery life on this phone is the GPS is just wonky. Never had a problem like that before with any other Android phone I've had.
Does anyone experience GPS issues? Using google maps or Waze...
Google maps puts me off the road and it just doesn't realize I'm on a highway. I've good signal and all of that so I know it's not a problem with that. It doesn't always happen either, but mostly when I first start it up, it takes quite awhile, 5+ minutes sometimes to put me on a road.-----Waze tells me to constantly go outside...
Anyone experience anything like this?

Galaxy S4 Battery Drain

Hi guys, i have the i9500 galaxy s4, the last month the battery started drowning too fast. I've tried many roms, now im using "Resurrection Remix rom 5.1.1". The thing is that i charge the phone before going to bed and in the morning the phone is off with no battery. Sometimes GPSD consumes all the battery, sometimes SO Android, and now "Phone (Telefono)" is appearing.I've tried everything and readed every thread about this, but i still have this problem, and I just wanted to know if someone knows how to fix this, thank you!

It's an app or setting on your phone that is causing it. Your device doesn't go to deep sleep.
Hi,
Your phone doesn't seem to go to sleep like what @Lennyz1988 said. But now I'm focusing on "Señal de la red móvil" (Mobile network signal). So why your phone's battery drain so much? It's because your network signal (mostly yellow-colored), thus caused your phone to always awake with Phone app as the battery killer.
Your phone seems to searching for mobile signal continously. Make sure that network signal on your location is good. You can also contact your mobile network provider for network troubleshooting in your location.
