Autovoice on the Mojo. - M.O.J.O. General

Hey I've got a mojo with Unjustified Dev's version of CM12 on it standing arround doing nothing. I decided to plug it in and use is as an Alexa bridge for my RF devices. Works great. I then thought it would be nice to setup autovoice for some Kodi controlling which was previously done through a slow tablet I had laying arround. Problem is I can't get a mic to work with the Mojo.
Things I've tried:
- Directly plugging in a mic into the head phone port: Nothing.
- Directly plugging in an earphone/mic combo which runs off a sigular 3.5mm jack.: Works but as you can imaginge you have to be quite close to the mic.
- UBS Mic: Nothing.
- USB Webcam w/ mic (c270): Nothing / not detected.
Preferred method would be the webcam as it had a decent range on the mic, any ideas on getting that to work?

Good job on finding and posting your results. I messed with this for a very short period of time and gave up but with your post I decided to investigate a little further, share and explain a little more. The key is TRRS. This picture should help understand. Also being able to use Bluetooth would be awesome and I believe this adapter (should) work https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008FB9SWW/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_1?colid=10PUST8J1AUJO&coliid=I2844LZIZA7O20

Getting serial out of the USB port to control a robot

Hi,
As most of you have, I am getting a growing collection of old mobiles now, and I want to do something cool.
I have just bought a robosapien V2 and AXON robot serial controller. What I want to do is use my old XDA exec to replace the 'brain' of the robot, so to this end, I need to be able to squirt serial data out of the phone on a wire, of which the easiest would be the usb snyc/charge port.
I am using NET 3.5 as my dev language, and the idea being is to take advantage of the wifi chip to be able to, firstly send commands to the robot from anywear (cool huh?) and to be able to stream video & audio (using the skype SDK) from the robot back to the network.
Anyone have any ideas on how to go about doing this?
And if any of you are interested enough I can post my progress here, go on, you know you would all love a robot you could send down the road on its own
sounds nice, i have no guess what it needs to control the robot nor i know anything about serial ports but i really would LOVE a small gizmo that i can control this way to do important things like rolling here, rolling there and then rolling back here, following the cat and piling it on the floor, talking through the speaker to the neighbours or affront those selfinviters ).
i'm waiting for your progress
best regards, pucki

I suggest you take a look on BT to RS232/485 adaptors. There are some small nice ones out there. I think it'll be even cooler being all wireless, isn't it?
For example this ones here (from google, don't know the brand. Only used industrial ones until now on my projects):
http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/100402141/Bluetooth_To_Rs232_Adaptor_10m_Converter.html
This one can't be used because the phones are not class 1 devices (~100 mW , ~100m range) but just for the information:
http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/100402139/Bluetooth_Rs232_Adaptor_100m_603004.html
Good luck with your project!!

I think this is the better way. Unless the phone has a USB host controller (I don't think a lot of them has, most the USB port as client. We can sync because it was the active sync from the PC that initiate and control the session, not from the phone), this bluetooth to RS232 converter seem to be the best solution. I've been looking for something like this for a while.
Thanks for the comments guys, for some reason XDA dev isnt emailing me when comments were placed!
Blue tooth seems like a cool idea, would be better able to hide the bt dongle in the robot! will get hold of one and have a play when I get more than a bunch of wires will post some pics

[Q] TV Out cable help

I purchased a AV Audio Video TV Out CA-75U Cable Nokia from ebay hoping that this would give me tv out on my Vibrant. I read in another thread that this cable worked. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I've tried switching the cables, red for yellow ect and everything else mentioned in previous threads. I get audio but it buzzes pretty good and I get video that looks that your watching the old scrambled channels before digital cable came out. Anyone know about this cable specifically or can point me in the direction of a cheap cable that for sure will work for me? Thanks
P.S. I know that avatar won't play through the tv out. I've tested with other movie files and I've made sure the tv out is checked in settings along with NTSC. Thanks
hmmm... I used the cable that came with my camcorder and it works perfectly.
i bought this one off of ebay and it works perfectly for me

I can tell you that if you plug in the cable without switching around the red and yellow you will short out your AV connection on some TV's. I shorted out mine by trying to match the colors.
Then I read about having to switch the colors and found out that the AV I had plugged it into no longer worked. Thanks Samsung. If they don't show up with a lagless stock Froyo before the freakin Dell Streak does, I am going to send them a bill for a TV.
Just an FYI. I have no idea if the Nokia cable works or not. I original purchased a cable that supposedly work but in the end didn't. I ended picking up a cable that works. Here is the pinout from the base to the tip.
First ring - Video
Second ring - Ground
Third ring - Right Audio
Tip - Left Audio
I ended up rewiring the one that didn't work and now I have 2 working RCA cables. You just have to be careful when rewiring since the cable is extremely thin. The one I originally purchased has the ground and video wires reverse.

USB Mic and Bluetooth Mic

Hey guys, new to the Rooting community, but I would first off like to thank each and every person that has put time into these projects. The possibilities that have been unlocked on different devices has been enormous and its all thanks to the dev community.
I do however have a question, I recently took my NC and installed Ginger Bread and then Ice Cream Sandwich onto it with no troubles. However upon reading everything that has to do with Bluetooth Audio Input and USB Hosting, theres something that doesn't quite add up.
I can successfully connect to my Bluetooth headset with both the built in Bluetooth and a Rocket Fish dongle that I used through USB Hosting. However I get no audio input, I know that this is a known problem and it has to do with a possible lack of audio codecs and some other ideas that I have seen thrown around.
What doesn't add up though, is that when I connect my Logitech USB Microphone using USB Hosting it works perfect and gets picked up by every app. So my question is, what is the difference between the USB built in drivers and the Bluetooth driver that was unlocked?
From my understanding the Audio input file, driver or whatever it may be sits as a separate file. So with that in mind wouldn't that mean that the file exists, because the USB Microphone is using, so why exactly doesnt the Bluetooth connection pick up the Bluetooth ear piece as a microphone and refer it to the same audio input file?
Once again this is basically me spit balling and asking some questions. I was looking through the source code for the Nook Tablet (Trying to find its internal mic driver) and noticed that there was an audio C file and was wondering if that is what is being used by the USB devices to recognize Audio Input.
Anyways, any response would be great, one of the last tweaks that I would love to help get worked out as I planned on making myself a lovely Voice Control app to run on my Nook Color, and a Huge USB headset is rather illogical.

Since you're apparently asking a question about a Nook Tablet, not a Nook Color, you should probably redirect it to that forum.
Audio on Linux and therefore Android is a huge can of worms that even most developers can't figure out. Bluetooth is yet another very difficult library and has its own way of dealing with audio in and out. A2DP media audio out protocol has no audio in capability. As far as I know, no one has ever sorted out or enabled hands-free protocol for the NC, which is what it would take to do a headset with mic.

[Q] Nexus 7 - PC Speakers not working

I have an extra set of logitech computer speakers I want to connect to listen to music on my tablet, but I can't get them working.
They are pretty much new and they work on my TV, WDTV and computer just fine using the same earphone jack adapter, but I get no sound when I plug them into my tablet.
I can plug earphones into the tablet and they work fine.
Anyone know why the pc speakers are not working?
interesting man...never trid this, have n7 from few days, but when i initially red this 3ad i thinked "well, impossible,it's OP only problems.."but when i tried my pc speakers on it (curiosity after reading this)i see that they don't works..strange!hope anyone can enlighten us!also my sound av receiver don't output the sound when connected on n7.on gnex works without problems..
i tried in a game...not in the music player yet,but i think it's the same beahviour..
I would guess there is a mechanical incompatibility with the plug, i.e. it doesn't quite fit. Can you post pictures of the working and non-working plugs?

Here's a picture of both plugs, they both seem to plug into the tablet the same amount and are identical as far as I can see other than being different colors.
Top one is the earphones
Not sure why, but when I did a factory reset on my tablet today the speakers work fine. Maybe it was an app or something interfering with it. Anyways, seems to be working now.

Is it possible to connect a Shield to a set of old 7.1 computer speakers?

Hi!
I'm thinking of buying a Shield to centralise my Plex/Netflix/emulators/etc on one device. One thing I'd like to do though is use a set of old Inspire T7900 speakers (7.1, powered) that I have lying around. I don't have a dedicated receiver (and the speakers wouldn't work with it anyway unless they had pre-amp outs), so I'm thinking I might figure out a way of hooking the Shield directly to them -- perhaps through a USB sound card.
Is this possible? Do you know of any usb sound cards that work with the Shield *and* support 7.1? No need for amplification as the speaker set does it itself (because it was originally designed to work with PC sound cards).
I've been poking around and I've come across a lot of people doing stuff with optical USB adapters and even just pulling sound off the USB port because of reasons, but not this kind of setup. Any help will be welcome thanks!
PS: just in case it comes up, yes, I do plan on getting a proper AV receiver at some point, which I will pair with an adequate set of speakers (not these). However, my living room is quite cramped for AV gear as it is; we expect to move to a bigger house sometime in the next 1-2 years and I figure I'll do it then. For now, the T7900 is good enough.
