Camera failed - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all!
Yesterday I wanted to take a picture, I opened the camera app and said "camera failed".
I rebooted the phone, cleaned the cache, flashed, back to stock and says exactly the same, I guess it's a hardware error ... Suggestions?
In case of hardware, changing the camera would solve the problem?
Thanks for your comments!

Hi. Check this link:

It sounds like there is a hidden built-in hardware diagnostic tool on the N6P. Maybe it can help you...

Thks! tried that, camera do the same

If it's a hardware issue there's not much you can do unless you repair phones. Is your 6P under warranty?

CAMERA FAILED (not even wiping chache helped)

i got a glaxy s4 and everything works, except the camera. i constantly get the message: camery failed
i tryed everything:
- wipe cache of camera and galery app and reboot
- i also replaced the camer module
- was on 4.4.2 stock and flashed optimized cm 12.1 and imperium v10
if i enter the code *#34971539# on 5.01 stock i can only press phone/cam fw check and cam and phone fw versions are different. i also can press isp core voltage check and vendor id and it returns null value.
under 4.4.2 i could also use other option in that menu but nothing helped. i flashed 5.0,1 and after the camera wasnt working i replaced it with a cam from someone that broke his screen and didnt need it.
can someone please help me?
no one?
bumping threads under 24hrs old is against xda rules.
ok here are my findings:
- even after camera module replacement the camera isnt working
- if i dial *#0*# i can turn on the front cam and it works
when i dial*#34971539# and press PHONE TO CAN FW WRITE than i get:
- CAM FW WER: S13F0SAGB39
- PHONE FW VER: S13F0SAGHO1
and when i press update it updates and tells me to reboot. after reboot the camera still isnt working and the strangest part is when i check cam fw version it is the same as before the update and if i press PHONE TO CAM FW WRITE i get the same option to update again. so actually the PHONE TO CAM FW WRITE is not working.
also i flashed stock android 4.2.2, 4.4.2, 5.01 with odin and the cam fw is always the same. is there any way to manually overide CAM FW? or does anyone have a solution?
i was also thinking if maybe some part of the system is corrupt and if there is any way to completely reflash the phone (because now with odin some settings remain even after flash)
I´m facing a similar problem with my S4, but both front and rear cameras don´t work.
About your situation. What is your s4 model? Did you installed the right module? Between all the s4 models, the rear camera modules are not the same? Between i9500 and i9506, for instance, each have a different rear camera module.
Hope it helps

my model is i9505 and i did install the correct module and its not working.
it seem like the camera fw doesnt want to update or its a faulty motherboard.
does someone have an idea what i can try to fix it?
I got the Same problem. It sucks as hell and i hope someone can help us!
same problem, someone knows how to fix now?
Same issue
I have the exact same issue with my T-Mobile variant of the S4. I've tried wiping the camera memory, factory resetting and even applying a new rom. I'll keep searching for solutions and if I find anything, I'll let you guys knows. I'm leaning towards this being a motherboard issue.

hello everyone ! I'm facing some serious issue with my s7 edge with fingerprint not working. it gives this' An error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device.
It's NZ model G935F. So far I have done this but no luck:
1) restarted device
2) wiped cache and data resest
3)flashed stock rom with odin
4) rooted phone with chain fire, Installed titanium backup and from fingerprint app delete data and restart phone! No luck.
5) When i run *#0*# test fingerprint sensor test it says ' Fingerprint initializing Fail '
What else I can do ? I'm currently in India and can't access warranty as it was bought in New Zealand.

Id be reflashing a stock rom if all else has failed. If that doesnt work then its a hardware fault. Have you flashed any custom kernels or mods? Have you wet the phone at all?

Hey, Did you fix it? if so, please let me know ..I have the same problem.
This happens to me when I downgrade to Marshmallow from Nougat. Reverting back to Nougat resolves the issue but I wish to downgrade, is there a solution to this?

Yep same thing here. Appears to be an issue with newer hardware releases though the sensor firmware is the same. I wish someone could figure this out.

Please One of main forum rule is dont bump threads. I know youre in a rush because u wanna know whats going on on your phone but keep this in mind.
My suggestion. Get Samsung Kies, hook up your Phone in Downloading mode and do a total restore. If this will not help you can also try samsung firmware downloader and flash everything custom to stock via Odin. Try first method if this will not help, pm me. If the hole thing will not work i think your EFS partition is bad or corrupted maybe.
I had a similar problem, the only way I managed to fix it was by using Samsung smart switch. Here's how:
I am not responsible if this ends up destroying you phone
1- download Samsung smart switch to your pc http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/assets/downloads/Smart_Switch-PC_setup.exe
2- Put your phone into download mode ( Turn off your phone, press the volume down + home + power button together and then press the volume up)
3- connect your phone to your pc via USB cable
4- open Samsung smart switch
5- on the top right there is a option button click on it
6- now click on emergency recovery
7- now click on device initialization tab
8- now enter your model name. For example: SM-G928C
9- now enter your serial number. You can find this in your box.
10- after that agree to everything and it will start downloading your original rom. This will take a while.
After that hopefully you phone will boot up.
allready tried everything you writte. didnt help. but thank you guys for helping
thanks for help grsjohn, i havent fix efs yet. because i dont have so much time. just reading a little a day about it. i havent any efs backup or something.
can you tell me little more about efs? can i flash efs or recovery it without box? if its hardware, how you fix baseband? i tried only apps what need rooted device to solve this problem(with no luck). nothing else yet
thanks guys for help to solve the problem

Hello, I had many phones from clients with your issue, it's a hardware issue, baseband got damaged, if you flash different firmware versions and fix efs an result is still baseband unknown for sure is hardware issue. Probably guy from who you bought that phone knew about this problem, baseband cannot get damaged after frp reset, I do this kind of operations often and never had problems

Install firmware in Asus Zenpad 10 (P00C)

Hello everyone!
I have a big issue with this tablet: after the new update to 7.0 I notice the system is consuming a lot of internal space and the system is not stable like it should be.
What I would like to do is to revert to the previous firmware/version or try to install any other bootloader wich now is beeing very difficult because I dont know how to do and the steps that I read to do it are very complicated.
Does anyone can help me to install the firmware on this tablet?
I have everything, the tools, the firmwares, cables, the pc... everything.
Then other thing is when I try to go to bootloader, I mean, is in chinese!!! Is not even simple and looks I cant solv my problem at all.
Please, anyone can give me a hand?
Thanks in advance for all your help and sorry about my bad english.
I will give a party with those who can help me and I will offer beers to everyone!
Thanks!
Where did you get the firmware ?
I have exactly the same problems. I managed to get the Z300M software from the ASUS website but not the P00C. Would like to roll back to software from May or before.
same EXACT problem... looks like audio_dump .wav files are the culprit but cannot delete them. used fastboot to factory reset after 7.0 update and problem came back 3 days later! can't find any older updates for the p00c online either
Somebody posted a possible solution in another thread. Can you see if it works for you?

Hey guys, see if this works:
Install Engineer Mode MTK shortcut
Turn on developer options
Start Engineer Mode. Go to Hardware Testing -> Audio -> Audio Logger
Uncheck any boxes that are checked
Profit (and maybe reboot)
All in all, I don't understand why some tablets have the logging enabled and other don't, if this is indeed the issue. I've never seen it enabled, even after a factory reset.
If you have the audio logging issue on either the Z380M or the Z300M, please post:
Your firmware SKU
Your region code given by the property ro.config.versatility (may need a terminal app to read that via getprop)
The firmware version you were on when you reset your tablet

lost my sensor calibration data after persist restore.

Hi Community. Kind of a noob here, but I'll try to be as specific as possible.
So let me start. I was using custom roms on my Mi A1 a few days back, and decided to change back to stock. So I went ahead and downloaded the April Fastboot room for Tissot from their official MIUI website.
Flashed the room through Mi A1. Selected Clean all and lock from the bottom menu of Mi Flash. The process went without any hiccups.
As soon as I booted up the phone, found out Wi-Fi wasn't working. Came to know that custom rooms tend to change the default MAC address of the phone. Didn't know that at the moment, but unfortunately kept flashing different versions, and lost the Persist Partition.
This is where I screwed up really bad. I selected Clean factory(something like that). Lost my IMEI. Saw a guide on XDA about flashing someone else's Persist Image and screwed up big time. All sensor calibration data was lost. Restored IMEI through QPST. But the sensors aren't getting detected by the phone. To be specific, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass. This is all the information I have on which sensors aren't working anymore. What should I do?
I went to Mi authorised service center, waited for like 4 hours and what they told me was
1.This was done by Liquid Damage
2. You're out of Warranty(Due to 1)
3. We need to change both the main board and the sub-board
4. The estimation sweeps in around RS.6100(94$).
Considering the actual price of a brand new Mi A1, that comes in around 215$, that would be too much for me to put out.
Can anyone provide me with a solution? Thanks for looking at this post.

Head over to guides section.. multiple tutorials are thr about presist restore
Try to flash a fastboot Nougat stock Rom with complete wipe. You have nothing to loose.

Try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/guide-how-to-fix-broken-sensors-stock-t3789900
I had persist partition problems, I flashed in edl mode, changing the rawprogram0 to add in persist.img, but now I have no sensors.
Also for me 'On-body detection' didn't show up in the Smart Lock, and I followed the YouTube video below and everything is working!
Well 99.9% working, the Bluetooth shows up on macvendors.net as 'No Vendor', so hopefully you have the .bt_nv.bin backed up, because for me /persist/bluetooth was empty. I had the original .bt_nv.bin, so I added it in, now I am using Xiaomi Vendor Mac...
