AT&T & Verizon Sim - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

So Ive got both my Verizon and At&t sims working however I run into a issue when selecting Verizon as my data provider.
Sim 1 is Verizon (wont allow Verizon in sim 2)
Sim 2 is At&t
Select sim 2 for data and sim one switches 2 "31000" for calls and texts only which is fine. Sim 2 (At&t) handles lte, calls and texts no problem.
Select sim 1 (Verizon) for data and sim 2 (At&t) goes into "no service". Cant make calls, texts or anything.
So basically the only way to get both sims working is to use at&t for data. Problem is my Verizon card has unlimited data. The Verizon data works perfect whether I have 1 sim in or both.
Any ideas?

It's probably because AT&T has decommissioned EDGE service in your area. SIM 2 can only be EDGE when a CDMA (Verizon) SIM is in slot 1 and is being actively used for data. With two GSM SIMs you can have 3G and LTE simultaneously...but not with one CDMA and one GSM. It's a hardware limitation I believe, though I'm not totally sure as it could be a bug too.
Check the AT&T coverage maps to see if your area requires a 3G handset...if so, then your Axon will always show No Service on the AT&T side when Verizon is being used for data.

Yep thats it. At&t shut down 2g on January 1st this year. Thank you.

Was this limitation discovered through trial and error or is it actually documented by zte someplace. The limitation about cdma/sim2 edge specifically.

ZTE is pretty tight-lipped on CDMA for the Axon 7...originally they claimed they were going to disable it altogether until it got Verizon and/or Sprint approval, which seems to have not actually happened...so they've basically said nothing about it at all, except that it's shown on the specs of the phone.
But anyway, no...ZTE has not stated there's a CDMA-use limitation on SIM 2 for EDGE only...it's just that everyone has seen this occur through anecdotal experience...and we know for sure that simultaneous 3G/LTE is possible with two GSM SIMs so it seems that there is some issue that CDMA creates where UMTS cannot be received concurrent active data use on a CDMA SIM.

A while back I tried a tmobile sim and freedompop (on att) global sim. With tmo on 2g and fp on hspa, the tmo side was constantly disconnecting (I believe we discussed this in one of the other vzw threads). I came to the conclusion that it had something to do with the actual frequencies being used by both sims. Changing the tmo setting to 3g/hspa fixed the problem - likely because it was now operating at different frequencies.
Tmobile's 2g operates at 1900 mhz.
Here in chicago att's 3g network operates on band 5 (850 mhz) and band 2 (1900 mhz).
I believe when it was switching to att 3g band 2 is when the tmo service would cut out.
Verizon's cdma operates at 850 and 1900 mhz and lte bands 2,4,13 (1900, 1700/2100/700 mhz). Att's gsm operated also at 850 and 1900 mhz. This limitation might exist then to prevent 2 different sim services from operating on the same band at the same time.

galaxy tab 10.1 data roaming

i just bought a galaxy tab 4g from tmobile which i then unlocked successfully. I then took a sim that i have roaming from another country and insert it in the tablet. I try to roam on ATT and tmobile but neither worked. The data roaming setting is check. The sim has data roaming because it works in a phone and is roaming. Is there an issue with the device or the OS?

I have not tried Roaming with an international SIM on mine. I have a Rogers branded 4G Tab (really a 3G+), it is unlocked and has an AT&T SIM in it. I don't have an international SIM available to test if the roaming works, but I don't see why it shouldn't.
What I don't know is, if the Radio in Tmobile's version is different than that of Roger's.
Questions:
- Does your international SIM roam on Tmobile or AT&T in your phone?
- Does it roam on 2G, 3G, 3G+?
It's possible that your international SIM is only able to roam on AT&T and your tab may not have the band required... again, not knowing the difference in Radios between 2 versions. I'll google...
---------- Post added at 04:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:48 PM ----------
Quick search shows this.
Rogers Branded Tab:
GSM Bands:850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HSPA Bands:850/1900/2100 MHz
T-Mobile Branded Tab:
Band (frequency):
850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;
UMTS: Band I (2100);UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100);UMTS: Band V (850)
If i had to guess, i'd say your SIM is trying to to roam on AT&T UMTS, which probably won't work on T-Mobile's Tab. Trying forcing it down to GSM (2G), that should work.

EDGE only, no HSPA with FreedomPop GSM SIM

XT907 on stock KitKat ROM (rooted).
I get EDGE only, no HSPA with FreedomPop GSM SIM. I've configured APN as described on their site.
https://support.freedompop.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2670/~/activating-your-phone-gsm-sim-card
I have a good strong signal. I assume it connects to AT&T towers. Even if it were connecting to T-Mobile, I'm in a refarmed area, so I'd think HSPA should work.
Any ideas?
UPDATE: Problem solved. Needed to force UMTS in settings because it defaults to GSM.

A2017U Dual SIM drops connection

Device: A2017U
Software: Stock, rooted (if it matters), B29
Sim 1: Tmobile gsm mode (connected to tmobile) for voice only
Sim 2: freedompop gsm/hspa mode (connected to att), for data only
Issue: Device keeps losing connection to tmobile when sim 2 is enabled. My immediate area has relatively poor tmobile coverage so keeping it in 2g (gsm) mode extends battery life. It'll stay connected for a bit, then drops, and doesn't regain until I disable/re-enable sim 2. I haven't tried disableing/re-enabling sim 1, but that may also work.
It seems there's some incompatibility when gsm mode is set.
I haven't tried swapping the sim cards yet as the freedompop sim has been removed from its plastic (both sim cards + sd card currently installed).
I wonder if the issue is because in general sim1 has greater priority, and is being used with a lower/inferior network standard (gsm vs hspa). When both are set to gsm/hspa, no disconnect issues, but signal is a good 10 db weaker on the tmobile side.
Thoughts?
Try flipping the sim orientation, see what that does. I'd also try to let your voice only sim camp on umts. Tmobile has been cannibalizing 2g and lots of the newer towers don't have 2g installed on them.

I'll definitely give that a shot.
Further research (tmo ........................ att ) , shows that tmo gsm operates at 1900 mhz, while att hspa also operates at 1900. Since the dual sim set up on here is active standby, I wonder if the different carriers operating at the same freq has something to do with it.

Swapping sims didn't change anything. Looks like I'll just leave it on 3g and call it a day. In fact, most of the usage is data, so the voice sim can be turned off most of the time. I use gv for my primary number, there's an immediate email notification for any missed calls even if the caller hangs up.

Problem with 1900 Mhz Band (GSM and UMTS)

I recently own a X829 variant with 16S stock rom. Use dual sim feature and this is all I can get in data usage (voice works ok do):
SIM 1: 4G 2600 mhz OK, 3G and 2G 1900 mhz NOT WORKING
SIM 2: 4G 2600 mhz OK, 3G and 2G 850 mhz OK
The phone detects 1900 mhz band (either 2G or 3G) and I can use it for calls, but it cannot use it for data. I want to use the data plan of SIM 1 because I have much better data plan.
If 1900 mhz were not supported (Information says it is), even voice call wouldnt work, right?
Maybe I will need a unlock band feature provided by this user?: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-unlock-bands-leeco-le-max-2-fix-t3439154
Best regards to all
Your using T-Mobile in the states? ( location and available bands might be a factor)
Sounds like maybe just a settings issue. If you remove one sim, can you connect to these bands?
I'm using at&t in the states and specifically use one sim for data, and second for calls/texts, but can only use ONE at 4g at a time.... Can't have both at LTE connection.
I'm afraid not, I'm from Chile so I'm using local providers:
SIM1: Entel
SIM2: Movistar
I already test switching SIMs trays, I know I cannot use tray 2 for 4G/data. but it's funny I can only use 4G in both SIMCards in tray 1, but not 3G/2G in Entel carrier.
So If I use SIM1 in tray 1 only I get 4G, wich is good, but as I move far from city and 4G is not available, it will switch to 3G/2G (it appears in phone tray) and data will not be available anymore.
Install official Chinese s23. From the official leeco page. That will upgrade radio firmware and fingerprint firmware, from there, then you can flash any other custom ROM or stay with s23. Which is stable and good. Also full date wipe is recommended.

I'm not familiar with those carriers, but google says all those bands should be supported. My only other suggestion would be to upgrade the firmware like already suggested.
16s on x829 was made for the states, not sure if that's what's holding you back,
Remember to backup, save your data and modem files.
Ok, so I tried Indian 16s, and a (slighthy) moddified chinese 23s without success, same issue: can call in 2G/3G 1900 Mhz Band but data doesnt work in that band.

Lost LTE after flashing 64 bit rom - I have LTE on Mint Sim, but not Ting! Weird

I use Ting, and LTE is available in my area (wife's on same plan) I lost my LTE/4g after flashing Cosmic OS. I've been struggling along with 3g just fine. The phone never showed CDMA - always showed "Global" in the network settings, if I Switch to LTE preferred I lose my signal and have to reset my network settings.
I ordered the MintSIM test kit, and installed it today...and I had LTE. Mint runs off of T-Mobile, Ting runs off of Sprint.
My LTE isn't gone... it's just gone from the CDMA side of things.
Has anyone else flashed Oreo onto a Sprint networked phone and retained their LTE? Is it something with the current ROMS and Sprint?
Experiencing the same after flashing FrankenRom.
Don't get LTE with Tello but I get LTE fine with redpocket T-Mobile.
