Hi community! I'm having a problem with my OP2, I currently have cyanogenmod installed on my OP2, and the version is from may-june? Not sure, but I want to upgrade to this rom here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/development/6-0-x-cyanogenmod-13-oneplus-2-t3292436
How would I go about doing that without messing anything up on my phone? I'm still very new to this stuff, any info will help.
Well, all you gotta do is follow installation instructions for any ROM. That means:
Boot into recovery
Wipe everything except internal memory.
Install ROM .Zip
Install Gapps .Zip
Install any other customizations/patch/SU-addon/etc.
Boot system. You may experience some bootloop the first time, it takes a few minutes to set up the entire ROM.
Also check from what OOS version are you coming. In this particular case, you may need to upgrade OOS atleast to 3.1 or 3.5.6. That can be done the same way.
And take a Nandroid and a Titanium (or whatever else) backup for your apps (or anything you want to survive wipes, except internal sdcard), because when you erase data, you will be losing them.
Best of luck.

This guy is correct. How ever if you make sure your on twrp 3.0.2.2 or what ever latest is. You can go in advanced wipe and clear system too. The quite frankly in. My experience I've never had to worry about what my preview OS was. Upgraded to nought with an empty system juts don't wipe internal lol
Although I believe new twrp has given us the usbC support now! Huzzah

Forgot about that. It's TWRP 3.0.2-2, which made this phone compatible with most marshmallow roms (and then wasn't needed an upgrade for nougat)
I mentioned the thing about previous OS because I don't remember when did OP release OTA to update phone to marshmallow, so I can't be sure.

Hi everyone,
I have been happy with the Marshmellow version the OS since I bought my phone when it came out (Unlocked, Encrypted). I have performed one update since I had the phone. Today, after seeing the latest posts after not being on this site for a year, I decided to make the move to upgrade to OOS 5.1.0!! Why not, nothing else going on this weekend. I upgrade TWRP to 3.2.1-1, I make a full backup, I follow the upgrade instructions... it fails with the continuous spinning balls on reboot. I Do some research... oh, it is "challenging" to upgrade but possible. No big deal, I will just restore my backup and try again at some other time. My backup restore fails Error 255, I try the fixeS I found such as unmounting data... No Luck). Can not restore the data partition. I guess I should have decrypted everything prior to backing up based on what I read later.
I at least backed up my SD card using adb prior to all this, so I decided to just reinstall ANY OS to get my phone running again for tonight. Well I have not had much luck. I downgraded TWRP to 3.2.1-0, I have tried installing:
OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_033_all_1804110400_eb1766 - Originally installed with not errors but phone reboots back into TWRP after a failed 1st reboot. (I do get a "failed to mount /vendor")
lineage-15.1-20180423-nightly-cheeseburger-signed with Gapps (Gapps failed with I think a error 7)
I was messing with the data partition, wiped, formatted, etc. I am sure this is some of the issues. One other thing is that TWRP always boots to the "keep System Read only" I find this strange and had never seen before. I select to allow modification, but it seems like nothing changes on reboot.
At this point I would just like to get a stock OS image on the phone. IS there something I am missing?

Sounds good, let me give it a try.
I've been thru this already. Here is the simplest way to get your 1+5 back to work, while having the latest LineageOS installed. It takes a bit of time and patience, but it works:
Using fastboot, reinstall TWRP 3.2.1-1 (or newer, if any)
Wipe all partitions, namely Dalvik/ART cache, Cache, System, Data and Internal storage
Sideload the latest OOS (version 5.10 or later, if any) with Android 8.1. This version will be OK for LineageOS 15.1 and you will no longer have that stupid error 7 when installing LOS 15.1
If OOS boots into recovery and asks for passwords or PIN or schema ... click on the "forgotten" link. OOS Recovery will then remove encryption and wipe out any data that was left.
Reboot phone, and start OOS session. Do not use any security stuff (PIN or schema or whatever) that would encrypt the phone. At least not now - If necessary, you will add it at the end of this whole process.
Once OOS is working, reboot to Bootloader. Since TWRP has been erased with OOS default recovery, you will have to reinstall it.
From TWRP, wipe Dalvik/ART cache, Cache, and Data partitions. This time, do not touch System or Internal storage
Sideload Lineage OS latest version. If you need to use Google Apps (e.g. Open Gapps), sideload it now before rebooting
Reboot (you might have to reboot twice, don't worry about that).
Once booted in LineageOS, do whatever you like - add accounts, root phone, etc.
Enjoy! (you may want to shout "Vive la France!", well ... don't hesitate!)
Sorry for my poor English. If anything here is unclear to you, please let me know.
I Have no idea what happened. I came home to start working on my phone, powered it up, and boom I have Android 8.1. Ok, Whatever...
Now I wonder if I should go for lineage or not.

It all depends on how important privacy is to you. If you don't care, then stick to the original OnePlus firmware. If you do, then switch to LineageOS.
Ok have a ZTE Axon 7 can't flash any thing because of it instantly encryption and I get recovery and then game over any one have a Cure for this......... thanks in advance.
You have to do a factory wipe, to remove encryption. Then when setting up the phone again when it prompts you to set a security pin or finger sprints skip that part.

Tried that and it didn't work.....it doesn't matter what I flash stock ROMs tell me my password is correct but memory is corrupt and need to be wiped and when I flash a custom ROM it doesn't boot just two flashes of the led and that's it.
Which TWRP recovery are you on?
What I mean by Factory reset is a full Factory wipe your whole internal is erased. It is like a clean slate new phone.
You should have all the necessary files for your flash on your sd card there is an option to select storage to flash from there.
So when I first swapped from Stock Nougat to AEX I was encrypted on 5/4 ROM my internal was locked by encryption and could only dirty flash roms. it was annoying so I factory wiped and flashed latest AEX from there and didn't set up security right away so no encryption.
I realised my TIBU back ups were all on internal so had to basically start from scratch oops lol.
It is a little outdated now with the official Oreo roms but user @Oki 's guide helped me a lot and has clear steps and guides to get you all rooted and sorted on custom roms.

Ok now got the thing back was able to reunlock the bootloader and installed recovery flashed candy rom with one issue could not mount system so now just flashed Oreo stock rom so all good again....... thanks for the help
The stock ROM encrypts by default, and formatting data partition in twrp is the only way to remove it. But to prevent the encryption before it happens, you have a few options:
1. If you dont plan to root, flash @jcadduono's no verity opt encrypt zip (Google it)
2. Magisk and SuperSU can optionally disable encryption before it happens. Magisk Manager has a config option if you're installing from the app. You can use Aroma SuperSU config if SuperSU is your root method of choice.
Hope that helped!
I would like to note that AOSP/Lineage/CM-based ROMs dont encrypt by default. though Im sure it could be enabled if you wanted to. This seems to be unique to the stock ROMs, mainly because Google insists that phone OEMs should go for higher security by enabling encryption as the default.

Yep this is the problem I am having now....... can't find much info about it.
I explain my problem, after taking time trying roms 8.1 I decided to give a second chance to the stock-based roms. After several attempts with a couple of roms, I always get the same problem after installation (so not installed). I have read that it may be a problem with the version of twrp (right now with the latest version). Before trying to download the version I have to do something special, install as an image and go? Do I lose information when doing it?
What steps should I follow to go down to 6.0?
Besides this, I have a backup made of the gizrom, every time I want to restore it I get the same message: so not installed
Thank you

Backup everything on your internal storage while you are on 8.1 rom. Or restore 8.1 rom and do the backup now.
Even you had tried to restore 6.0 stock rom (unsuccessfully) you can still restore the 8.1 Twrp backup it should work.
Go back from 8.1 to stock 6.0 you can restore the 6.0 backup in Twrp as normal. But after restore the backup done you will need to format data. From Twrp menu go to: Wipe > Format data (here you will lose everything on internal storage). The stock 6.0 restored rom/system will still there and working.
You can restore the app data of the backup rom after you done with the format data.
If you don't do the format data the 6.0 rom will not work I think. It will show something about encryption stuff when it try to boot and enter the system.
So I'm manning up and saying that I did indeed screw up this phone, but to what extent is unknown to me.
Didn't make any backups or anything. Can this phone be saved?
I can get to the fastboot screen and I can also get to TWRP... but that's it. Otherwise it stays at the T-Mobile white screen.
Video of what my phone is capable of at this point: https://youtu.be/PNEB2ijgRSI

Lets cover the basic questions. Have you wiped cache and dalvik cache? have you wiped data? have you factory reset? have you flashed a rom (as in .zip file compatible with twrp)? did you flash a rom not meant for your phone?
Truth to be told. this does not look like bootloop nor brick. if it were brick, i dont think it would even pass from the first screen. Maybe some of your system files got corrupt. Reflashing the stock rom should solve the issue.

I've wiped everything TWRP lets me wipe (Dalvik/ART Cache, System,Data, Internal Storage, Cache, Micro SD Card, USB OTG). When I do the factory reset it tells me "No OS Installed" but I'm sure I picked the stock one.
I'm thinking you're right about the files getting corrupt (or maybe I accidentally deleted something important ). I actually wouldn't mind reflashing the stock rom, but I think the one I have is corrupt or I'm flashing it wrong, orrr I'm following an outdated guide.
Copy a rom for your version. H918. Or download Alpha rom for h918 then flash it through recovery. But don't forget to format only, "format data", internal storage then flash the rom. You should be good to go. I am here to help

Hey, thanks, flashed (Discontinued) Alpha Omega Rom zip through TWRP and I got the phone working again. However, I can't download the T-Mobile security update... not sure if I even need it though. Everything else seems to be in working order.

No u can't and u shouldn't if not it might cause an issue. Alpha rom is a stock rooted and tweaked rom. No need to update. Only the dev can do that. Just keep using it that way.
im having big problems about vendor. for start im giving some info:
device: mi a1 (tissot)
current os: lineage OS 17.1
root: yes
twrp: can install or use just booting .img
i unlocked my device and installed twrp. there is no problem.
i wanted flash lineage OS and i wiped my device. gives error about cannot mount /vendor
i installed treble supported twrp and installed lineage OS. flashed magisk. installed microg...
then i tried flash mapsv1.zip which is recommended for microg. then booom. another /vendor error.
now i can boot device. i can use everything except gps. google maps app cannot found location. yandex maps can found and i can use it until lock screen or going main screen (or another app). then it starts stopping everytime until i clen its data and cache. then again... in chrome when i open google maps and try found my location chrome stops.
i tried to change /vendor/etc/gps.conf. its still same.
what to do now guys? im worrying about if i try re-flash rom it doesnt flash and device bricked. any solution without re-flash rom? what causes to cannot mount /vendor after solved it?
What exactly did you wipe? I think you wiped vendor, or bumped your O.S. from an old firmware. However, wiping system, data and Dalvik was more than enough.
To solve this, the worst thing to do is trying to hook around. Just reflash the latest original firmware and start again.
Keep in mind that you might need to backup your stuff first.
Use adb pull and push commands in case your device is rebooting too much. Check if device works well this time.
Next, open adb access from device and reboot fastboot to reflash your custom recovery, then reboot recovery and wipe just these items. Finally, complete Rom flashing procedure, depending of your needs.

Dalvik cache , system, data, and cache. My device is not rebooting too much. Sory if i couldn't explain. Everything working fine except when an app tries use my location, app stops running, i cant flash anything right now.
İ thought anyone knows mapsv1.zip file(microg.org) and which files are replaced or added by this file when flash it. And can i do it manually? Btw i can read and write /vendor file with solid explorer
İf needed to re-flash rom thats ok but i think lineage OS was perfect for me until this error. And a last thing: can i backup my settings. (İ already took backup of everything in stock when unlocked bl)
Thank you for help
Edit: gps problems started when i tried flash mapsv1
ROM could be perfect, but what I doubt is how perfectly you followed the procedure. Again, better start from zero, being sure you have all the prerequisites (latest firmware included). My humble opinion.

Okey ilk try it and share the result night. But is it possible to backup settings of phone?
Well, that's why in step 0 is always recommended to backup you phone. At this level you should have nothing in settings, since you wipe it all... However, that's better, that's the goal of a Clean Install after all. Each ROM has its own flavour and is not recomendable to overwrite these values from a backup, if you're changing ROMs. What you could do, was to backup your apps and some settings with a third app like Swift Backup, or older Titanium Backup, before starting it all, or else, making a complete backup from recovery, in case you end with a problem with newly installed ROM (recommendation here is disable any screen security lock before doing Backups).

Are you sure? Bcs i can view and change /vendor in root path. Treblizing is updating and repairing system partitions right? İ am using treble support twrp, flashed stock rom via mi flash(said error but worked fine) then how to treblize a device? And is this required for anything(like a rom, an app)?
