Caller ID app - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answer

Guys i am in need of your help please. I downloaded a Full Screen Caller ID application and i want to use it as my primary Caller ID. The problem that i am running in to is that native caller ID still runs in the background. So when i answer the phone using the app i still have to answer the phone using build in app as well. How do i fix that?

i guess this is a very hard question if there still no answer

Try True caller

I am using Sync.ME as caller ID, however when some one call me Sync.ME displays the caller ID when i hit answer button my stock caller ID kicks in and i have to hit the answer button on my stock call ID as well and i want to avoid doing that.

Can you please point me to where the setting is?

For the caller ID go to phone the click the 3 dot and look for caller id.
Now for the other one you need app from the playstore called package disabler. It cost you $2, it's worth it. Open that up and look that samsung phone and disable it.
Also what baseband are you running?

thank you, i will try that.

I'm new to the S7E. I had been using note 7 ported roms on my note 4 which had the built in unknown caller identification feature, which if I'm correct is powered by hiya. So I could NOT find a similar feature on my stock S7E so I downloaded the hiya app from the play Store.... (it appears as a banner for callers)
My question is, where is this stock "setting" that enables unknown caller ID names & numbers? I do not see this option in stock firmware anywhere?
Sent from my SM-G935T

There is a service that T-Mobile has been charging me for and that is for Caller ID, this is where I am able to see who is calling me before I answer. If there is an feature that is built into the ROM or an APP at the Play, of the 3 choices . .. . Which one is the more perferred?

ROM or App with a feature to block caller ID for one call only?

On several of the old flip phones I've had, before Android, they had a feature where you could block your caller ID for one call only.
Is that available on custom ROM or app?
It's useful in that normally I let my Caller ID go through when I'm making a call. But occasionally I don't want whom I'm calling to know my number, so I block it. But then many times forget to go through the several step process to unblock it again. On several old pre-Androd phones I had, you could block you ID for one call only, and then it would go back to the previous setting.
Just dial *67 before dialing the number. I think that still works give it a try. Maybe that's just a landline thing not sure. Doesn't hurt to try

Open up the phone and go into Settings, then scroll down til you see Additional Settings and its in there(not one call tho)(on carbon 1.8)

I'll try it again, but in the past, it didn't work from cell phones, which is why I liked the old option from the phones menu. But, perhaps it does work now, which is why I don't see the option anymore..

Thank you. But that's the whole point of the question...so I don't have to go through a 8 step process!

The best way to hide sms messages?

Hello, I need to hide sms messages from one contact. What is the best way? I prefer free app but you can post paid apps too.
Thank you very much.
Have root? Try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.security.firewall. if not try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.project.memoryerrorthree.

I know there's a modified MMS.apk in Slimbean that allows you to blacklist messages and calls from as many contacts as you want. I've seen it in a few other ROMS too. You can just flash one of those and not have an extra app. Or just extract the apk and move it to system.

I like root call blocker. It doesn't even make your screen blink
thank you guys, I'm with CM so I try to block contact via sms..
"Vault-Hide SMS, Pics & Videos"
Never used it for sms but works good for pics, I assume the sms is good too.

Try this...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.privatesmsbox
It has no additional icon, you get into by dialing 1234 then dial on the keypad, and it's opens it let's you put anything from one contact there (sms, mms, calls) and you can only get into it by using the code. Also, the default code of 1234 can be changed, and the app doesn't require root. Also gosms has a private box built in to it.

I can +1 that. I use Vault daily and this is by far the best Android privacy app I've seen. It was just a SMS hider, but now hides photos and videos and even locks apps now!
Plus, its privacy is polished to the extent that if you press back from the app, it also disappears from recents menu

It may be the best, however, costs about 7 bucks but it's well worth it. The developer always updates and listens to his customers.

Useful information here friends, thank you.
Try this

A perfect app to cheat your gf.. not only hide sms, but also hide the contact as well as the call register from certain contact.. Plus you can also hide the icon from you launcher and open it with secret code in dialer.

Samsung + Whitepages

One of the big features in the new Galaxy was the addition of Whitepages built into the dialer.
Did Verizon force Samsung to remove that as well?
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Looks like Verizon removed this feature. If enough people tell them they are upset about it they may bring it back, but probably not
It's Verizon. Since when do they listen.
They want you to pay for their ID program
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Spoke with Samsung. Verizon forced them to remove it due to the paid for ID program.
Hopefully enough people bother them that they end up bringing it back.
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
I found this feature by downloading "Any cut" from the play store and then scrolling through the list and finding "identify unsaved numbers" you can then turn it on from there.
Very similar In Nova Launcher... Create a new activities widget... Scroll down to the third phone choice (it has the most choices)... Then select "identify unsaved numbers"... That will create a shortcut.. Open it and flip the switch.
Yeah there are numerous programs out there.
True Caller, Whitepages ID, etc.
I would have liked not to download an extra program when it's built into the dialer.
I started a forum in the Verizon Community.
Hopefully if we get enough people to annoy them, they will bring it back.

can always install it via the app store. it doesn't integrate with the dialer like the samsung version was supposed to, but it will pop on top of the default dialer and give you an alert. just a thought.
This looks really good. I"m currently using CallApp, based on pulling info from social sites, Facebook, Twitter ect. but I want something more.
It is possible to get the builtin whitepages semi working. (the caller id works but searching for local business via the contacts search bar doesn't seem to) However doing so requires a rooted phone. If you go to your system/app folder you should see a folder called SmartCallProvider. Inside is the whitepages apk. make sure it was the right permissions rw-r--r-- then go to your system/csc folder. here you want to add this line to your feature.xml file.
Code:
<CscFeature_Common_ConfigSvcProviderForUnknownNumber>whitepages,whitepages,on</CscFeature_Common_ConfigSvcProviderForUnknownNumber>
reboot phone and it should be working. I've only recieved one unknown number call since then but whitepages seems to work as it was identified as a scam number.

you also need to enable the "identify unsaved numbers" setting in your dialer, which should now be available after preforming the modification.

My phone is locked

Hi,
I bought a Galaxy note 4 and made a Samsung account that is linked to this phone. Recently, I was compelled to do a factory reset. Every time I go through the steps of opening my phone, there is a step asking for the Samsung account's email and password to see if it belongs to me. I typed the SAME email I ever used in this phone. But always a message shows saying"processing failed". I changed the password from the website "account.samsung.com" and waited for 2 days but still have the same problem.
Please help me regarding this issue.
Thanks.

*#*#4636#*#* does not work

I have a ULM unlocked (non Amazon or Google Fi) version and using Google Phone dialer beta app as my dialer app. In the latest few betas I am not able to do get *#*#4636#*#* working. My Phone app is version is 52.0.322645706-publucbeta.
Can someone check if this working for them?

NOTE:*If some codes don't work on your mobile phone, try to use only**#*in the start of the code and only*#**or only*#*at the end of the secret code. For example**#4636#**or**#4636#.

Yea, it is a bummer the dialer doesn't recognize the codes any longer. Here's another way to the screen you are looking for.
1) Go to G Play Store.
2) Install Shortcut Master full or lite versions.
3) Launch Shortcut Master
4) Search for com.android.setting.Settings$TestingSettingsActivity and launch it.

That's a really nice way to do it, but in my case it generates a RemoteException of some sort on my Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Is there any app I should disable that's actually doing the check ? Or does it mean Huawei ****ed it up again to prevent us from accessing the hidden settings menu ?
