I recently messed up and soft bricked my phone. Now luckily I managed to fix it tonight using the LG flash tool, flashing an older rom through the kdz method.
Now my question is, by factory resetting and and updating it with the newest stock rom, should everything be back to normal? As in completely reset (partition layout, bootloader, bootstack etc all that stuff)?
Because I don't want any leftovers from my recent mess-up

When I try and restore my device to stock it gets such at flashing modem. It has already wiped the partitions though so I can't boot. Anyone know the fix for this?
I've upgraded to 5.02, so now if I do a factory reset, will the phone load the kitkat it came with or lollipop?
Lollipop.
Thanks

when you flash a custom recovery the phone deletes the old recovery and applies the new one, the only way to change that is to reflash the recovery with another rom or the stock rom
I was about to flash my phone back to a stock ROM to reset my sensors because my GPS navigation wasn't working. I wiped the data and cache on my phone, then installed the 39A bootstack and rebooted back into recovery, once back into recovery, my slide was half cut off my screen, when it wasn't before wiping and installing the bootstack. Now, I do not know what to do to get back into the phone, because there is no ROM installed? can someone please help me? I'm guessing I will have to KDZ to stock.
Install kdz via Lg flash tool. You don't need wipe internal storage if you scared about this.
You could also try restoring the phone by doing an upgrade recovery in the LG Mobile Support Tool. Not sure if the support tool will wipe the phone' s data.
I messed up my G2 so I returned to stock by flashing the proper .tot file. I also performed a factory reset after this. However, my G2 keeps crashing ".com.android.something" has stopped working and then it just bootloops. Over and over.
What can I do?

Do you know if it's possible to recover the data after flashing a KDZ with LG Flash Tool using "CSE Flash" method? I completely forgot that this method wipes everything.
After unsuccessfully flashing Nougat (going from MM ResurrectionRom) I had to go back to stock and realized afterwards that all my data was gone. I manged to make a full image of the new data partition and tried to run file recovery software on it (photorec and foremost) but it doesn't seem to find much apart from a handful of files (about 400MB out of 23GB) and there are none of the images / videos stored previously in the DCIM folder.
Does it mean that going back to stock not only wipes the data partition but also changes the partition table making the recovery impossible? Do you have any other ideas how to recover the files? Do you know if that's even possible in such case? Many thanks.
