S7 Edge to "Emergency calls only" mode forever - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello.
I am facing a frustrating issue with a Samsung S7 Edge G935F that came into my hands from a client of mine. It has the usual issue with the “Not registered on Network”, always in “Emergency calls only” mode. I have tried everything I can think of and searched for in Google and nothing worked. The phone is from Romania and has the Romanian firmware 6.0.1 (open carrier, not locked) and he wants to use it in Greece.
Here is what I tried:
-Flashed older firmware with Odin, just in case
-Flashed the latest again (6.0.1 December 2016) with Odin (BL,AP,CP and CSC file, not Home_CSC)
-Checked for updates OTA, no newer updates than those flashed
-Tried multiple Romanian and Greek official firmwares and tried to wipe data and cache
-Turned airplane mode on and off multiple times
-Searched network provider manually in mobile networks settings
-IMEI and baseband are not corrupted, they are shown as they should
-Checked IMEI if blacklisted or carrier locked. It is clean and in open carrier, not locked
-IMEI is not fake, cross-checked with back cover glass and battery label
-Brand new SIM
-Tried another SIM of different provider
-Cleaned the sim socket with isopropyl alcohol
-Reflowed the ICs associated with radio signals
-Did not find any signs of dirt or water on the logic board
-I have NOT tried to root and flash a custom firmware because I do not think it would change anything
-There is no problem with the network coverage of the 2 sim cards I used in my location
Nothing! I believe it must be a hardware problem but I wanted to triple check with you guys.
The CSC value it has now is G935FOXX1BPH1, the Romanian one, just for the info. The Greek one I used previously during the multiple tries, was G935FEUR1BPH1.
Any idea will be appreciated, I will try it!
Thank you in advance.

If the phone is giving an emergency calls only message, it means it can see and use at least one network, which suggests it's definitely not a hardware fault, rather a network compatibility issue perhaps? What network are you currently trying to use it on?

I am trying to connect to Vodafone or Cosmote. I just tried to call 112 emergency number and it tries to dial for 10 seconds, then it says out of service area and drops. i believe the emergency calls only message is kind of "by default" when no network is available, not the actual emergency mode.
Let me note that when i search the networks it finds the providers available.

No service, emergency calls only after upgrading to android 6.0.1 by OTA

Hi! I have an A5 (SM-A500FU) bought in Italy last year, Im using it since then in Argentina. With android lollipop I have never had issues with lost signal, no service messages or network not available. But since upgrading by OTA to Marshmallow these problems started. I have looked everywhere but I cant find anything that helps me. Also my service problems are not always present, sometimes I do have signal, but mostly when im out in the street. At home, for example I have no service and "only emergency calls" message. I'm using right now and old Moto XT316 with the same SIM card ( Claro AR) im using in the A5, and it is working fine, recieving network signal ( it is also a new sim card, just in case old SIM was the problem). The thing is I can´t use my A5 because it is constantly losing signal.
Thing I have already tried and didn't work:
- Changing to aireplan mode for a few minutes
-take out SIM card, restart the phone, turn off phone, put sim back in again, turn on phone
-verifiyng the APN for my network Claro Ar was correct, manually searching networks ( At home for example, it only finds Personal and Movistar (sometimes) but never finds Claro ar)
-Doing factory reset
-Reinstalling official firmware (PDA version : A500FUXXS1CPH2; CSC version : A500FUVFR1CPG2) with kies3 ( smart switch gave me an error)
-Flashing the UK BTU ROM ( the old one was from Vodafone Italy, now Phone info app says my mobile operator is 72234, while befor was 722310 which is correspondig with claro ar, what does this mean)
what could be causing this problem???? Im really starting to desperate now...
I read something interesting online, searching for some answers I got to the experience of some guy who had a very similar problem. Short story, his had to change his phone's network configuration in the "radioinfo" menu (or whatever the name of that hidden menu is) with an app named Network and force his cellphone to use only 3g or 2g. Turns out that his phone was trying to use LTE but LTE was not available in his region. This solved his problem. Mi phone can't use LTE here in Argentina because it is Italian, and since I have it it never conected to LTE network (I guess we use different frequencies) So I was thinking maybe my phone is also trying to use LTE but since it won't reach 4g signal ends up with no signal at all, excatly like this guy's phone.
But, apparently I need root access to get to this menu or even use this apps, is that correct?
So, should I root my phone to try that? does that story make any sense to you? Any advice?
Downgrade to lollipop I read is not my best option, also rooting it isn´t , but I'm starting to run out of solutions.
I add this information that could be helpfull:
Product Code : SM-A500FZKUBTU
Original CSC code : BTU
Active CSC code : BTU
PDA version : A500FUXXU1CPH3
CSC version : A500FUBTU1CPH1
Baseband version :A500FUXXU1CPH3
Android version : 6.0.1
Build number: MMB29.A500FUXXU1CPH3
Mobile operator :72234
Also IMEI number seems to be fine, it starts with 35 and matches the one in the back of the phone.
Sorry It is such a long thread!! Thank you very much!!

S7 Edge (SM-G935F Exynos) Carrier Flash ROM Question

Hey guys, i was wondering if i can flash firmware from other carrier without bricking?
I bought my phone last year locked to carrier, and I unlocked it using doctorSIM service. Phone itself works fine, and as I'm not living in country that i bought my phone from originally, phone gives a message "No SIM card installed" sometimes once a week, sometimes several times a day and i need to remove SIM card or to restart phone to make SIM card work again.
Please note:
- SIM Card from my original carrier (from one that I bought my phone from) works PERFECTLY fine
- My other SIM card (that my phone constantly rejects) works in other phones just fine
- I have tried to reset the phone, and carrier bloatware constantly keeps installing
- EDIT: Wi-Fi and 4G are working PERFECTLY fine
What to do? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance and sorry for gramar mistakes
Bump, flashed other carrier firmware, still same problem.
R u rooted? Have you considered flashing a CSC packet for your location?
I have a 930S, and works fine with the Korean ROM/Chinese language here in the US, on ATT service.
I have flashed the ATT, XAA and TMB CSC sets, and though the phone worked, and loaded the correct USA carrier info, I lost the phone code ability, which I could not solve.
In the end I went back to the original Korean ROM and it's CSC packet. Interestingly, though it works perfectly here in the U.S., and I can use/input phone codes, it still shows Chinese cities for my 'Region", none of which I have selected. When I do a search for local towers, it locates and correctly identifies AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. I select ATT. The Chinese cities remain in the region selection, none selected.
Wait and see if someone knows if CSC (Exynos or US based CPU) are interchangeable. I used CSC packets from a universal ROM setup (non-USA).

I'm not rooted, as I use Samsung Pay and have more than one year of warranty left. I will try flashing CSC of the current country I'm in (Austria). Thanks for taking time and writing all this, this problem is unbearable
Hello!
My s7 edge is in trouble, it freezes sometimes, and sometimes it gets a full screen of pixel color flaws, with that problem my root smartphone works two weeks. Sometimes this error occurs in the ROM installation process, I insist on the installation until I can. I tried to install superman rom and due to this problem, the smartphone in the screen of death "exception of bootloader" (But it's already been resolved)...
When searching the internet, I saw that this could have a problem in flash memory.
After all history, I ask;
I could use a twrp file system repair function to try to solve this problem? And how to proceed?
(sorry for the use of google translate)

I am, by far, not educated up on TWRP, so I'm not sure what you mean by "repair", other than making sure your data partition is formatted so it does not cause the issues you are talking about.
Here is an interesting read:

Hey guys, update on the problem, i replaced sim card and it works just fine, i will post updates as time goes on

Axon 7 Mini not working oversees

Hello, hoping someone can help out, I bought a AXON 7 mini hoping to use it in Iraq, but it does not seem to want to register on any network outside the USA. In the USA I was using a Tracfone T-Mobile SIM and the phone worked great. As I traveled across Europe the phone would not connect to any networks (Germany and Turkey), I figured it was just the SIM not allowing roaming. When I got to Iraq I purchased a Korek SIM and still no dice. I phone sees two networks but will not show any service. I have tried SIM cards from other phones with active service and still nothing. I have even tried a SIM card from ASIACELL and still no dice, it sees the providers but will not show service on the network. When I click "automatically select network" the phone response "registered on network" but still no service. I have tried the usual reset all the way down to a factory reset.

Flashing EU ROM
Could I safely flash the EU Firmware located here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7-mini/development/firmware-stock-firmware-t3696538 safely to my device. From what I have seen this may fix the problem.
Thanks, Jeff

Phone now seems to be fully functional with aid of a lot of reading an testing. I can also replicate the issue consistently. The original issue seems that the pervious owner, or ZTE set the operating band to "United States." Once this has happened the seems to be locked to USA networks, even though it still sees the other networks. Using *#*#4636#*#* method, you can try to change the band, but only 2 options are there "800 cellular" and "United States," I tried to change to 800 but get the response "unsuccessful." So for the fix!
Thanks to all the hard work here, I was able to install the boot loader unlock update for my phone found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7-mini/development/unlock-official-bootloader-unlock-t3690496
I then proceeded to install TWRP, backed up the entire system, and then installed Linage. Then used *#*#4636#*#* and the band now had a third option of "Automatic," selected that and bingo, service in Iraq. Recovered the phone with the backup and the fix stuck. Of point in Lineage there is five options in the band selection, 2 options are duplicates (USA and Auto), I assume for each SIM, and you have to select both autos otherwise only one SIM will work.
This probably could have been fixed with a ROOT application that allows you to enable additional bands, but I was never successful in ROOTing my phone.

SM-G950U1 (XAA) - Cellular network can't be found after update/reboot/cache-wipe

Hi All - hoping to get your help and advice.
Original S8 was a USA SM-G950U on T-Mobile that was successfully flashed and unlocked to SM-G950U1 (CSC = XAA). The phone was fully functional, successfully received OTA updates and was on the latest firmware (G950U1UES5CRL2) in use in Hong Kong (3HK 4G LTE) until yesterday when I did a hard-reboot and cache-wipe a few days after a system update and now the cellular radio won't connect to any network. I've tested the SIM card (works fine on other phones), rebooted without the SIM inside (no impact), tried upgrading to Android 9.0 as well as older Bootloader v5 firmware to see if the cellular radio would turn on and re-connect but no luck.
Current State: When looking under "Mobile networks", Network mode shows "Preferred network mode: CDMA/EVDO/GSM/WCDMA" whereas it used to be "LTE/3G/2G". This option is available under the drop down list but I can't selected it. Under "Network Operators", tapping "Search networks" results in an error "Error while searching for networks". Tapping "Select automatically" pops an error "Unable to connect. Try later".
After exhaustive testing, it feels like the phone is behaving like it's SIM-locked since everything else works thru wifi but it's on the SM-G950U1 XAA unlocked firmware so it shouldn't be locked?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your feedback! What's strange was that my S8 with the unlocked firmware (SM-G950U1) was working perfectly for 6 months and I was able to make calls, get LTE data connectivity, etc. Now the phone is still working via wifi but the cellular function is dead. Any suggestions or advice on how to remove the T-Mobile SIM lock?

We need to verify some how if it truly is Sim locked or not first.

I've tried 2 different SIM cards (though both from the same carrier) and both were not connecting to the mobile network. The phone can detect when there isn't a SIM card inserted so that is a minor indicator that the SIM card slot is functional.... any other suggestions on how to verify whether my S8 is SIM locked?
EDIT: Both SIM cards work in other phones (iPhone6s, iPhoneX).

Of coarse not always but most of the time it will display a warning or something about sim not accepted. This sounds like to me. A couple things. Simlocked. Maybe install the T-Mobile firmware again and try the T-Mobile unlock app. It should say this device is already unlocked or successful. If that passes. It could be a disabled band or something. Sounds like the latter. Like it's not picking up your carriers signal. Again the us models I believe are pretty universal so maybe a different firmware may enable it again. Or last the device has somehow become blacklisted which unfortunately I have seen plenty of people here in US sell devices still on contract maybe pay a few months and quit then blacklists

You can't fish 950f different chipsets. What country are you trying to use it in. If it's blacklisted that's more than likely your answer right there.

Galaxy S8 not picking mobile network

So I bought a used Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F) from the aftermarket. Upon doing a factory reset, the dreaded "only official released binaries are allowed" message started showing. Tried everything including wiping cache, factory-reset (multiple times). Finally found a Youtube video that showed me how to download official Samsung firmware from sammobile.com and install it using Odin. The video also suggested that I should download the "BTU" version from ANY country if I had an F model (which is supposedly international). So I downloaded the one titled United Kingdom (BTU). FWIW, the exact firmware file name was G950FXXS9DTEA_G950FOXM9DTE1_BTU.
I followed the steps in that video and viola, phone started like normal. I restored my account, got back everything working.
The only problem that I'm now facing is that my phone does not recognize my mobile sim. Earlier it was simply showing ? symbol for network. After some restarts, tray eject/inject Now it is now showing the signal bar, but it is grayed out. In Settings > Mobile Networks > Network operators, clicking Select automatically shows error "Unable to connect. Try later.", whereas clicking Select manually shows "Error while searching for networks". I have searched around quite a bit and it seems to be a well-known issue, but the posted solutions (fractory reset, sim cleaning, switching to 2G mode etc) are the things that I have already tried.
Is there anything else that I should try before contacting my network operator? Specifically I'm suspicious about the firmware that i have downloaded. Can it be that United Kingdom (BTU) is locked for the networks that operate within UK only (I'm not in the UK)?
EDIT
------
Further investigation revealed that this phone's had been flashed with fake IMEI number. The number that I see in *#06# is totally different from what is printed at the back of the phone, which is what is probably causing the sim problem I mentioned above (local laws require IMEI to be registered with authorities for a device to be able to work).
Even a factory reset and wipe didn't restore the original EMEI number. Is it the end of the road for me? Or can I restore the original EMEI somehow?
