i don't think you can get KIES update if you are rooted, otherwise no problem to restore your backup later on.

When you wanna go back to stock:
1. Use Triangle Away
2. Go to CWM and format system, data, cache
3. Do Advanced Restore and restore 'data' only.
4. Power off phone and go into download mode.
5. Flash your stock firmware with odin.

I agree! I applaud Samsung's approach to this whole situation of bringing updates.
Even if these leaks aren't intended to be "leaked" I'm glad that Samsung is watching over at xda for tweaks and bug reports/fixes. Well done Samsung!

Confusing Root Status

Hello everyone,
I'm kind of new here in the forum but I have been around as a guest for a while. I own a Tab 10.1 3G and followed the instructions in the forum to update my tab to 4.0.4 XXLQ8 successfully. I'm so thankful to you guys.
But when I tried to gain root access after the update. It's unrooted again. It took me long enough with a little help from my friend to be able to flash CWM into the tab to be able install .zip files in the /sdcard again. But something is still wrong. With all the files I found in the forum, none has successfully given a proper root access (even though I followed the instructions exactly and did all the things needed). The thread is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1807219
I have attached with this post 3 screenshots just to try to tell you what is going on.
1st image is BusyBox: It says my device has Root. And I have SuperUser installed in the drawer.
2nd image is SuperUser Fixer Update blah blah blah saying gaining root access failed.
3rd image is SDMaid telling me my device doesn't have root access.
So I can safely concluded that it is NOT ROOTED. BUT WHY? I did correctly everything.
I would like to know your opinion about this matter
Thank you so much
This is what I would say the best thing to do is.
1. Uninstall all su & busybox apps & preferably factory reset.
2. If your CWM version 6.x you can ignore this. Otherwise download the newest recovery for your tab from droidbasement and install using Odin. This is to make sure you don't accidentally invoke the "super bug" and brick your tablet
3. Make sure to download the zip in the sticky by Sockmonkey. Extract it and put the small flashable zip on to your tab
4. Install the root zip through Cwm. Now test by checking an app that needs root, like Titanium Backup.
To be honest it's probably easiest that if you want a completely stock rom with root just install something like tasks or toldos instead.

I found a way, finally.
This is a video instructions how to root galaxy tab 10.1 (4.0.4)
Youtube video name: Hi-Tik How TO : Root GALAXY Tab 10.1 (Android 4.0.4)
It has been there since August 23rd but I don't know how come I couldn't find it earlier. Maybe I search the wrong keywords.
Anyway, the correct Root .zip file in there really did solve the problem and now I'm running SuperSU with root access

Only one remark - Could you change the clause "pause > null" to "pause > nul" in the .bat file
Current clause create the file with name "null" in the directory

Did you repair your issue?
Maybe give more details. Like which version of Tom's image did you use? Do you still have adb access. How back is fastboot crashing, like can you still flash images?

I used version 1.4 of tegra super tool kit
i still have adb access and fastboot access.
heres what happened
the first time i tried to flash recovery it worked!! but then sadly once i restarted my device i went into recovery so i could install supersu and for some odd reason im back on stock recovery..:/ so i then tried to reflash recovery and now this is what happened everytime
when i use the command fastboot boot recovery.img ---> i receive this
boot.img downloading...
and nothing happens or sometimes i get a pop up saying fastboot has stopped working.
when i use the tegra tool kit the same thing happens
boot.img downloading and or fastboot has stopped working...
So you have a fastboot or driver problem. Maybe a bad cable or even USB port. I would try a different ports and cable. Also you could try downloading the fastboot.exe again.

Restoring original recovery to Homecare Note
Anyone tried restoring the original recovery to the Homecare version? I installed Shaky156's version of cwm before and when the 4.3+ update arrived, it won't install because of the cwm recovery. I tried restoring the original using fastboot but failed to do so. I tried all the recovery versions that I could find but still couldn't install them. Only Shaky156's version works. Also tried using the script but it fails to recognize the tablet therefore cannot use it to install the original recovery. Only could use the fastboot command using a command window.
If the Super Tool doesn't work then you have a driver porblem. Or you didn't extract the files from the zip

Thanks for all the work on Super Tool 1.4 it's fab. But I can't get CWM recovery to stick either - It seems fine but it reverts to stock Android Recovery on reboot.
It flashes fine, then option 'Reboot Now' But I don't get the 2nd option 'Yes/no' to keep CWM it goes straight to option 3 'Fix SU - yes/no'
Is this a driver problem to?
Thanks for all your help

Still not getting the 2nd option to keep CWM and reverting to stock recovery after reboot - but I am using the ADVENT Tegra 7 could it be that?
Bit of history in case it helps - I used your earlier stuff to unlock bootloader, load cwm and root on 4.3 and it all worked perfectly. Then used
Super Tool 1.4 to return to stock 4.3, uploaded OTA 1.1 - all worked great. Then flashed CWM recovery with no probs reported so went on and flashed SU immediately, again without any probs being shown. But SU didn't seem to be on system but I'm still getting root OK - (puzzled!!!) Titanium back up says Root Access OK (busybox 1.19.4 Titanium from app) Got no idea what this means but everything is working and as I can access CWM through Super Tool I personally am not to bothered about it not being permanently installed. Just think your Super Tool is fantastic so Thanks again

Tom maybe you should delete the older tools and reference them as a generic place-holder name like your other files, so people always download the latest version.
I edited it to have one link. But the other files are there as well. Unless you can't read the change log it should be easy the understand the right one to download.

homecare tegra note stock recovery
I want to extract the stock recovery from a home care tegra note without rooting the device, can anyone help?

need help with my grand prime sm-g532f

hello guys,
is there any custom frimeware for the galaxy grand prime sm-g532f ? i looked everywhere but can't find one.
i need one because there is no more space in my phone, the system took almost everything, 6.5go of the 8 availble, so i can't install big apps even with an sd card ! any solution ?
i was about to install a stock rom, but someone told me that it will take the same space as my current rom .
thank you.
I don't think any developer is interested in this device, it could be due to non-availability of unlocked bootloader, firmware sources, etc. I am thinking of getting rid of mine and move to another device that supports open hardware/software.
In possible solution if you managed to root it the use system app remover to get rid of Samsung bloat.
Good luck.

Update:
Managed to root using TWRP.
1. Install TWRP recovery.img using ODIN (Windows) or Heimdall (Linux) including SU. Details in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...overy-twrp-3-1-0-1-samsung-galaxy-j2-t3616589
Reboot to TWRP > format Data partition > while you are connected to PC > copy SU.zip to data and flash it.
2. Get SU.zip from here;

SM-T230NU root?

Hello. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (SM-T230NU) and I am having trouble finding a way to root it. I tried using the KingRoot app and it lied and said my device was rooted and all it did was modify system and make itself system administrator. So I had to reset and flash my device to fix it. So right now I am trying to install a custom rom but I need to find a working way to root it first. Does anyone know a method that I can use that works?

YES, THERE IS ROOT FOR SM-T230NU (Samsung Tab 4 7'').
Follow this link (Thanks to the bloger "FlexiSPY" https://blog.flexispy.com/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-4-sm-t230nu/
There's few easy steps to do it:
-Download device USB drivers
-Download Odin
-Download TWRP/SU Tar zip file (all of the above provided in original post)
Flash tar in AP/PDA mode with tablet in download mode
Reboot in Recovery (TWRP)
Select reboot in system and accept installing SU file
Once in System, update/install SU and restart.
Any questions, let me know. Just rooted mine.
