7.0 from beta? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Curious what you guys think should be done. I've read several forms and nobody really states if it's worth it to flash and take the OTA update to 7.0 from the beta. Is there a root?

Nougat hasn't been released for Big Red yet, so nobody will probably hace an answer.

Oh I thought I was reading it was finally out. Disregard sorry

I'm just curious why it still hasn't been released in the US yet
I've been checking every morning since the 12th with no success. I even flashed the U firmware in hopes that I'd get it sooner. I did get the December security update but that's it so far.

I just want the radio. I'll wait for Zeph to update Chroma for the rest. Can't get OTA anyway.
Nothing here yet, on Verizon edition

This.
Of course they would release 6.0.1 right after I finish setting up my phone from a clean install of 6.0...
I was planning to do a clean install, hmm, gonna wait for the 6.0.1 factory image

Factory image should be released on developers.google.com before rolling out by OTA. Isn't it?
Nothing in Poland

Not necessarily. While that is generally the case, it doesn't always happen that way. The OTA for MRA58X has been out for a couple of weeks and still no factory image has been posted. For some (unexplained) reasons, Google sometimes chooses to do this....
Nothing in the Netherlands either
And in The Netherlands notting also
Nothing in France
Nothing in Chroma world
Probably someone who works at Google or a carrier that is testing.

From the scant details I saw it's just some dude on TMo in NYC as per his comments and Twitter info.
Probably the December security update.

Will opting-in to 7.1.1 DP cause problems/delays when the official release comes out?

I'm running 7.0 stock unrooted on my 6P and thinking of opting-in to the 7.1.1 dev preview. Will that cause any problems or delays with getting the official release when it becomes available to us? Will I have to wipe my phone when installing/upgrading to the official release, similar to opting-out of the DP?
No, it shouldn't cause any problems. You'll just get an OTA of the final 7.1 and that's that.

Correct I think they just release it by region as soon as the new was released I received it that day as others waited about a week.
I'm on beta.

I guarantee it will be a problem. Last tine I tried it for nougat everyone said there was no issue. A month and a half later I realized why I was stuck without an uodate. They don't have upgrade tracks from dev to release. Unless you're fine with flashing the OTA via ADB, don't do it.

To my knowledge, you're the exception to the rule. Before it got recalled, only those got Nougat for their 6Ps who were in the beta program.

Root on Nougat

Does anyone know if its possible to use the engboot root method on the new nougat firmware? I have a few things I'd like to try that require root
The engboot used to root is only for marshmallow and will not work with nougat.

We haven't even gotten nougat we have a couple of mths until that

No you don't know this. I find MM update for Note 4 and we wore thinking that is beta but later same month AT&T release exactly same build. I'm not sure if this is not a case, since Note 5 and Note 4 get security update already for December and S7 Edge last security update we have is for November. There is no new build of MM with security update for December on servers. Next update i can find for S7 Edge is Nougat 7.0 with January security update. Maybe this is just how i logically think, but maybe not. I don't know if this is beta anthill we get another build of Nougat.

You could try finding a way to root it then. I doubt many would put in much effort there though. Once the actual release is out it would make more sense, since we don't know if this release will be a final build.

https://plus.google.com/communities/106765800802768335079
This is for all pixel versions and nexus which got android 8.0.0
All you got to do is go to that website sign up to be a android beta tester and the software update appears in you notification bar.. its the last stable release for beta. There will be more to come iam sure as newer android builds get released.
Confused :s
The ota is coming sept 11th.. it was just released yesterday but apparently there was some radio and network issues on a few carriers so they pulled the ota... google is releasing the fixed ota on sept 11th.. after that its gonna be only maintance updates and security patchs for 8.0.0 until the next android version comes out.. it is stable on a few carriers but tmobile got hit and their working on that now...

True, lol
I don't understand the point of this post. Everyone at this point should be on stable. If you aren't, then just flash the OTA, or the factory image. As for the OTA coming out today, there is no mention of this anywhere.....Fake News!!
Android is always beta. There's always something little thing even at the end of the version

ASD8 Update

Has anyone been able to find a full changelog for the ASD8 update? Just got it this morning and I havent been able to find any full changelog except for the little vague one Samsung released.
Am on ASD5 still , didn't receive updates , you can check the link in the update option
Runs cooler now I think.

I didn't get it either so I tried to manually updating it from firmware.science and that was a no go. I get an error so I guess it's only from when you're updating from asd3 and I'm still on asd5
Odin? It doesnt discriminate against current FW

You should see an update soon on U1. Att finally updated to the May Patch, so the U1 may show up soon. The April patch showed up shortly after all the carriers released.
That said, on the S9, the U1 only got quarterly updates. You may end up waiting longer on U1.

What does that thread say of Q?
Q hasn't dropped yet, so unless you have a pixel, your unlikely to have access to Q.
On the S9/+, we got the P beta October or November if I remember correctly. Pretty sure it was August before Pie was official. Samsung doesn't usually dabble in the betas, they wait for the official before they start their beta process.
