mA while charging - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i have a question why is the mA changing while charging? why it cant be still in the highest point

Hello,
Unless the kernel has charging current hack, it'll be dynamic; faster when screen is off and slower to not charging at all when you're using it.

[Q] Kernel with modifiable charging current?

Is there any way we can alter the kernel so that we can set the charging current for our device?
I would like to change the AC charging down to 750mah from 1ah so that my phone gets fully charged.
I am interested in this too. Is this even possible? Or will I have to charge it by PC, as I am doing now?
I know it is possible because it is possible on other phones. It is the kernel that controls it

I think franco or maybe blefish could manage it, they are working with kernels.

Note 2 charging time.. SOLVED

Hi all,
To all those who have battery charging prob i.e it takes more than 2.5 hours to fully charge feom zero.
There is simple solution, drain out your battery completely and then charge, do the same thing once again and you are all good..
FYI, I had same prob and now its fixed

my note2 charge from 1% to 100% in about 2:10 hours
What I've seen is that the charging current keeps altering on every charge. From 900 MA to 1300 MA. It's 1300 MA most of the time, but sometimes it goes below that and then charging period becomes longer!
I've tested 3 different units, with 3 different charger and they all act the same. Weird but that's what happens.

Some times, a longer charge means better mAh input.

What app do you use for it???
No app, in a file manager, the path is, sys/class/power supply/battery/current avg.
You've to be rooted needles to say.

Fast Charge?

Is there a way to fast charge the Galaxy S4?
I believe that feature needs to be built into the kernel for it to work. The "secure settings" app in the market lists fast charge as a custom rom option, but I could be wrong.

Mine charges at a little over 1% a minute as it is. How fast do you expect it to charge?

That's what I was going to say. I'm amazed at how fast it charges.
Qualcomm has what it calls quickcharge built into their snapdragon chips. The s800 is supposed to charge faster than the s600 too!

I have the original stock charger but I was charging the S4 with my computer and I noticed that the rate was much slower.

Computer chargers are only rated to deliver 500 ma of current while the Samsung charger that comes with the phone will deliver over 2 amps. Basically the wall charger outputs out over 4 times as much power vs. computer usb ports.
My s4 with stock wall charger (2.1a) charges insanely fast. Much more so than my s3.

i was amazed at the battery charge rate its wicked fast

[Q] charging current while screen on

Hey guys,
While using original charger with 5.3V,
The charging currents:
While screen off: 1.74A+.
While screen on: 1.17A Max
Somebody know why?
I thought because of the touch screen, but it's annoying that while using the phone the consumption gets higher and charging gets slower.
Somebody have a solution?

Anybody facing slow charging issues

Hey guys this is the first problem ive faced in Note 4 so far.I know there is fast charging option available but it will degrade battery life so ive unchecked it.On the normal mode the charging is very slow it is like 0-100% in 2-2.5 hours with everything like mobile data, wifi, nfc turned off.It is even slow than my Note 3.Any body facing the similar problem?Should I activate fast charging?

You don't have any problem, same here, 2 hours until full charge with the fast charging off. 1 hour or so with fast charging on. I have it now set on fast charging. Does fast charging mode really degrade the battery life?
I dont think so, Samsung would never enable and advertise it if it have any negative impact on battery life.
The only question here should be if phone drain battery faster if it was charged over quick charge.
Personally I turned off Quick/Fast charging as almost no need for that in my case.
