I have noticed that my Vol Down key often does not feel as though it has any area of movement (as in it doesn't move much like the Vol Up key does when I press it).
It still responds well to key presses and never gives any false inputs, but still I'd like it so that I've got a feel for what I'm pressing down on.

Was the volume button tight to start with, it has just got loose over time?
Two of my handsets had loose volume keys and one didn't, straight out of the box. I was wondering if the 'tight' one would become loose over time...

[q] my motorola defy side button and power button is not working

My motorola defy side button and power button is not working ,i asked in motorola service center the guys tell it hard to get tat spare parts .i search e bay and other online site ,please guys help me to get tat defy spare parts buttons
Are you missing those buttons or are they just not working? 'cause if they are not working, you need to replace the motherboard, in order to get working buttons. Don't think it's worth it - better buy a new phone.

My Defy's volume up button stopped working some time ago. It was quite annoying as I used the volume buttons to unlock the phone. Some time later, I pressed the button really hard, and to my surprise is started working again. And like that I had my button back

It has nothing to do with the motherboard. There are soft silicon membranes in the cover for water resistance. These are wearing out after some time - always!
They can be replaced or you can make new ones by yourself. I did successfully.
After flooding mainly top of the phone, and cleaned in alcohol. Power button does not work Is it possible to exchange the key? Unauthorized GSM service can handle this?

[Q] How much would it cost to fix Volume Down button and Physical keys

Hello, The Volume Down button on HD2 doesn't work at all. It seems stuck but I don't know exactly what is the diagnoses. All I know is that it worked perfectly when I bought it and after a while it started to work on hard press and then barely worked and now it doesn't work at all. Also the green phone button, windows/menu, red phone button don't click anymore. They work but they don't click. It's not a huge deal but if it can be fixed why not. I was wondering if anybody here has problems similar to this and has repaired their devices I was wondering how much it would cost.

Volume = digitiser = ~£15
Buttons = ~£5
Glue/Tape = ~£5
so £25 ($40) would cover the parts cost

NEED HELP. Power button stuck.

My power button gets stuck and as you know when you long press it it reboots the phone. So basically my phone is just constantly rebooting and rebooting, its practically unusable. I need help if anyone knows a way to disable the function of power button, I mean so the power button wont do any function anymore, or swap it with another button.
I had the same problem. Got the button replaced, it worked for a month or so and I started getting the random reboots again. A search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem with the S3, and I doubt they fixed the issue for the S3 neo.
1.5 years of use and my power button is broken, my volume buttons are mushy and my camera doesn't focus at all. The build quality on this phone is a joke.
You'll probably have to have your power key replaced as well. Or do what I did and remove it from the motherboard. You won't believe how flimsy the solder is. I now use the accessibility shortcut button to lock / unlock my phone. It's a hassle and it takes up screen real estate, but at least it works.

Mine stopped doing it now but I'm sure it will start again. You are right, build quality of this phone is really lame. That part on the sides that looks like metal is mostly worned off from my phone. Camera focus is crap and volume is lower than before, I can barely hear notifications. Maybe I'll remove the button too, but I'm concerned about how to boot the phone if it turns off.
You can turn on the phone by connecting the charger, immediately booting into download mode (before the battery icon comes up) and restarting from there. It's not the best solution, but at least I have a functional phone until my oneplus x arrives sometime this week
try to do this

That's actually a fantastic idea. I thought about flashing cm that has no offline charging and booting that way, but this is better solution lol.

You can try nova launcher since it has a gesture for double tap to lock screen, or maybe a 3rd party app.
use soft lock to lock screen without pressing power button

Power and Volume Buttons problem

The power and volume buttons only work when I hard press them. It was fine when I purchased the phone 4 months back. But from the last one month, the problem started with volume down button and has transferred to all the other two buttons. The buttons work now when pressed hard , but I am afraid that they longer may not work.
Is there a solution, or will I have to take it to the see service center?
P.S. They don't have a service center in my area and I will have to travel 4-5 hrs to get there!!

I faced the same problem. I tried installing stock ROM again of the other security patches, but still not fixed.
So, finally I reached service center they had changed the volume key button strip. Now, it is working as new. :good:

It's available in $3 on Dragon- tt. You can buy it cheaper from Aliexpress but most of them are non-originals.
