[Q] Battery 0% Unknown and Screen Door Effect.

Greeting,
I have the 32GB 3G one, 2 issues I see here and I want to ask about it.
1 - Screen Doors Effect, If i look at the screen in 90 degree it's OK, but 45 degree like put on table and look from a 45 degree clearly I can see the Screen doors effect!.
Is that normal in Nexus 7 or just I got bad unit?! So RMA is a MUST!.
BTW: the Screen is GOOD, no black light bleeding, no dead pixels, no thin line.s
2 - Battery issues!, If the tablet hits 100% during charging, the battery goes to 0% Unknown!. "Red Icon"
Sometimes back to normal during the day! "while it's idle" or if i charge the tablet fora while!, but if i reboot, it went back to 0% Unknown!.
Now at the moment, it is charging and it's OK, but "hits 100% or reboot" the problem occur!
Is that relative to 4.2.1 problems or Also I have a bad unit maybe a defeat battery sensor?!
The tablet is working no sign of a Dead battery.
I bought it from US Google Store but now I'm outside US.
Update : Now while it's in charging mode, I use the tablet for no reason went to "Charging 0%"!!!

Here's a screen shoot for mine now, the battery goes live at 83% all of the sudden!.
as I said earlier the tablet working good except this "0% Unknown" with Red Icon all the time!.

Looks like an oddity in the Os... Possibly due to a write error during an update.
Just back up, and factory reset, And reinstall the the stock rom.

Did it and still the same!.
the problem is the system doesn't know what's the status of the battery anymore!.
Looks like Battery sensor is broken!

Are you rooted? If you are charge overnight and immediately wipe the battery stats in CWM when you wake up. This should identify if you have a bad sensor or if the tablet lost reference on the current status for some reason.
If you are not rooted you can unlock you tablet, try it out and if it still does not work, relock it and return it. Now is a good time to do it because you just did a factory reset on the data and it wipes it when you unlock the device.

I did, The tablet is GOOD except these 2 things, Screen Door Effect I can live with it, but no Battery Status at all that's a Boomer!.
my nexus is almost perfect Lol.
last night, all of the sudden, nexus turned off and refused to be ON again! charged over night, no way to boot!, I can see the screen works while charging but no boot at all!.
after too many it does boot, as it's now in 2.4 I can't update it to 4.2.1 via OTA cause the battery is 0%.
Looks like I have to RMA it,

Huh? Wiping battery stats isn't going to do anything. It is in no way, shape, or form going to have any bearing on anything related to charge indication. Furthermore, the simple act of unplugging the tablet after charging it automatically causes the file to be wiped.
For the OP... if you remove the back from your tablet, there's a rather good chance that you'll find a loose or disconnected connector in the vicinity of the battery.

If I removed the back there's a chance I will lose the warranty.
any way, I did RMA with Google Store, will see how's my luck.
Now even the left Speakers becomes defective!

Mysterious idle drain

Hello and thanks for reading ,
I am experiencing a very bad tablet battery life since November 2013.In these past month's i have visited forums, flash factory OS,turned off the radio(and wifi), installed many battery saving apps (didn't work), boot safe mode(drain still there), rubbed snake oil(really dangerous) and the battery still drains faster than a monsoon gutter.
Below is a screen shot of the tablet after I left it to idle for one night .

I've got exactly the same problem; battery drains very quick even with airplane mode on. Tablet Idle is the culprit according to the power settings. I wonder what this means and how to solve this issue. can hardly use the tablet, i always need to recharge it.

Same here, and this just started a couple of days ago. Usually, with my usage pattern, I only needed to recharge once a week. Just over night this changed to nightly... Quite annoying.

Registering only to add my "me too" to this problem. The battery is depleted in a few hours (6 to 10) when the tablet is turned off, no sleeping, turned off, even after using the recovery menu option in order to force the power down. It is always lightly hot to the touch when it is automatically discharging, again when turned off.
This is my first Asus device and I am trying to request a refund, I don't want a new device, or a repaired one. I want my money back. I am not sure this will happen because it was bought on December, but this is not tolerable

5 Months in and various updates later (KK 4.4.4 KTU84P right now).
The battery still drain away @ 5.0 per hour minimum.
As per original post, I have still not been able to find the source of the drain.
wakelock detector, better battery stats and battery doctor have been of little help this past months.
Assuming it is not software related, what are the chances it is the hardware ie the battery itself being the culprit.
if so i think i'll wait for the rumored 8" nexus tablet.

Nexus 4 doesn't fully charge

I have been experiencing this problem the past weeks, maybe months. The phone won't fully charge and usually stay at a value around 80 - 85%. Sometimes, it even reports to be 100%,and at the moment you unplug it from the wall, it drops to these values. Sometimes, however, it does charge to a full value, but anyway, the battery life is horrible.

The rom I use is cyanogenmod 11. I always have been using this rom, since the moment I purchased the phone.
Like three months ago, my phone dropped to the floor and broke the screen. My home insurance company replaced the screen, so I think, even the phone is a year and three months more or less, I can't call LG for a replacement, can I?
I'm a bit worried because I'm making a long three week trip in some weeks, and I need to have a working phone.
I don't know if going with battery replacement, if try to flash stock and see how it behaves or what to do.
BTW. just for testing if it was the rom or not, I left the phone charging while switched off and got the same results. The original wall charger has the same results as if I charge it with a Samsung charger.

I have the exact same problem, I posted about it a couple of days ago.
I have already replaced my battery once, that was almost six months ago, and now, I'm facing the same problem again.
I'm not sure if is only a battery issue, because this is my second battery with the same problem.

There is an app called batterie calibration by néma. I dont want to give up on your batterie/phone, so at least try this app out

I had the same problem with my old phone. What I would do was let the battery run down to 0% and let it switch off. Then i would charge it to 100% and it would work. Its only a temporary solution though as the battery would soon stop charging above a certain percentage after a few days.
I did change the battery on it but i experienced the same problem,it may be that the new battery was also faulty (if it was the battery's fault in the first place). What I did notice though was that when it did not charge above 80 or 85%, when the battery came to about 20% it would stay on 20% longer to compensate for the "lost" percentages. In essence it does charge to 100% it just doesn't show that on that battery bar.
Maybe give this a shot, it might work well for this phone. No harm in trying. You could also try reinstalling the ROM or returning to stock. For me on my old phone returning to stock did the trick.

It seems to be a common problem with this phone - not charging to its full potential. The other issue I have experienced - the phone goes dead for no reason. After trying a number of time trying to get it to turn on, it eventually does. I am waiting for the day that it actually does just die and I can purchase a more reliable phone.

Something wrong with your phone. There is no such common issue. I've been using this phone since last 4.5 years.
Instead of waiting for it to die, is it not good go ahead and get a new phone?

I've been experiencing serious battery drain lately.
Lasts around 6 hours tops.
Check out the stats. Anyone know how to prevent this?
Drain is almost 3:40 min / 1% discharge.

Check if your phone turns off the display after the display timeout. I have seen this happen in Moto X sometimes.. It just stays awake. Restart fixes it.
How about brightness? Set it in Auto Brightness mode. Check your Settings->Display page and check all the fields. Apart from that Screen taking 38% is surprising.

I've been having the same problem. I updated a bunch of apps yesterday, (mostly Google apps) and it the battery seems to be better today. It may be too early to tell, but I'm hoping it was one of the Google apps that draining the battery and that it was corrected with the update.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who's battery suddenly got a lot worse. I thought it was Snapchat since I had started using it recently, but the battery usage page doesn't reflect that.

One thing to check is the awake time. If you notice that your device seems to be awake all the time, I'm willing to bet that it has to do with google play services.
If rooted, there is an easy fix via gservices app on market.

I'm having the same issue. Really only getting about an hour of screen time these days. When I first got the phone it was 2+ hours. Mostly use WiFi vs cellular for data, which I thought should be more battery friendly. I make sure I don't have apps running... I'm thinking maybe my battery has just been getting weaker over time.

I downloaded the gapps fixer from the Play Store but after installing it and rebooting I could no longer send e-mails via the gmail app (clicking the "send" icon would do nothing)

Brightness is already set to auto. Also, I've check the settings and display page. Its as it should. I wiped out cache partition and it improved a little. Though I didn't saw significant change by doing that. It still runs for max 6-7 hours. That's it.

have you tried to clean battery stats from recovery?

May be u need to calibrate your battery. Try to put the phone in charge and let it reach 100% and post that dont remove the charger for 4-5 hours. This is a method to calibrate. Try this and lets see if it helps.
And, I see that you are in H+.. Try using your phone in 2G for a day and observe the battery patterns.

You should clean battery stats from recovery.. Have you tried this?

Mine will drain fast but then it will sit at 1% for several hours before finally shutting off. I have not found a fix and it's been going on for a few months now.

u let the battery die out then recharge to full without switching it on. Once complete boot the phone and when booting is complete then remove the charging cable.

s7 battery problem

I just got my s7 and use for a week. But the battery of my s7 drain very fast. And I can't use other charger to charge except for the original charger. Anyone has the same problem? Is my battery faulty or is there any fix for tat?

I thought the Elephone s7 didn't come out yet, how did you get it?

When you say drain fast, what do you mean? What screen time are you getting? What's the issue with incoming calls?

I have the S7, 64GB and I also feel the battery drains quite fast. Around 3 Hours screen on time.
Currently trying with disabling the 2nd SIM & also turned the performance setting to low power and but has not made much difference yet.
Also I suspect the "Clear background App" setting/system app is unnecessarily killing apps in the background and causing even more app-restarts. Any way to turn this app off and instead use Greenify ?

I use my s7 five days and it was fine, tonight phablet did not respond to pressing the power button, left display off, I pressed multifunction button to wake up the device, but nothing happened. I attached charger but after an hour of charging phone is always off. I took away the SIM card and SD memory card and charging unit remained, and after another half-hour phone is always turned off and does not start anymore.
for five hours phone is dead but feels heat in the area of ​​the rear camera ... I think the problem started from the battery, because the same area was heated slightly during charging.

I have got the same problem, the battery is running down too fast. I only have used since last 3 days and I have to charge the battery twice every day. Any solution?

No troubles here, battery is fine on my 3G/16G.
Do you have the problem when the phone is as new and wiped out clean from the recovery ?
Can you try this withouth installing anything ?

For me, at the end of the day, about 40% of battery left.
I turn the battery pref into low performance, and no problem for my use

I am a light user and I get only 8 to 10 hours with the S7.
I recharged from 12% to 44% in less than 20 minutes,but it seems to empty just as fast.
I have heard that you should let it run down,till it shuts down and then recharge it and that helps the battery life

I had same problem with S7 Mini, turned out it was 'Play Services'

It turns out the phone usually clear background applications, its logic to save battery is by shutting off every app which is running in background, but by doing this, the processor will work harder to bring up every apps back to work which means more energy more energy consumptions.
And turn of your finger print scanner. I did these and got my discharge rate 1%/h in standby.

I switch it on.
Yesterday i got 1 day and 10 hours battery with 3 hours screen on time, it was 17% just before i recharge it. Low power mode

i did the suggestions but i also found my main culprit was risilo Sync the new name for btsync over night with no WiFi it used 21% battery. Turned off the wake check in settings and added it to greenify.
