After updating to 2.1, almost everything is fine including general speed, screen responsiveness etc. But the battery life seemed not to be improved in comparison to 1.6. So I am thinking of rooting the phone. Can someone tell me if rooting truly impacts the battery life positively? Thanks.
Just rooting the phone in general wont increase any battery life....but its what your gonna do afterwards that can. I myself rooted my phone and removed ALOT of apps preinstalled eg:timescape, face recognition and a whole bunch of others and have noticed a HUGE impact in overall speed performance....I mean you wouldn't believe how much difference after removing everything. So, I have yet to see my battery life after doing this since it was just last night I did a bunch of stuff to my phone. But, I would assume Ill get better battery life with like practically nothing running in my background.

Our phones are not inefficient. No not at all. If you think about it, on a 3000 mah battery we get good battery life compared to other phones with the same or bigger battery. But here is my gripe, and it pisses me the hell off. The G2 had a 5.2 inch 1080p display with a 3000 mah battery. Now how the heck can LG be dumb enough to not upgrade the battery when they stretched the screen size by .3 inches and more than doubled the resolution? Thats literally the dumbest thing ive seen come from lg. Albiet everything else is top notch on this phone, and the battery life is still pretty darn good. Its just a stupid move by lg that makes no sense whatsoever. Its like giving a mustang a gas tank the size of a 4 cylinder prius. [emoji57]

Because the battery in the G2 was not removable. It is removable in the G3. That's why.

It is still a stupid move they could not anticipate that allot of people would not want to remove the battery all the time.
Simple concept: Increase the battery capacity with every generation to accommodate the more juice needed. Look at samsung. Their batteries always increased.

I really think its about choosing the right phone for you.
I had my LG for my first day today at work (day 3) and after 14hrs I still have 68% left. OK admittedly its been a very light day in terms of usage but today I am a happy user because I have an awesome display with a great phone with all the features that I was looking for and it was able to get through my day with a great deal of battery life left.
The question you need to ask yourself is have you bought the right phone for your needs?

Lag and stutter? Ohh you mean thw decreased frame rates to save battery life. Yeah you do know that stems from the battery issue correct?
And i dont notice any lag or stutter. Everyonce in a while. But hey its a stock rom. Pretty much expected. The Gs5 is worse...

Their batteries also are always removable. I'm not saying they shouldn't have tried to go with a 3,200 removable. However so many people complained about the sealed in battery, they thought they were giving the people what they wanted. Their battery size technically did increase. The Korean G2 with a removable battery was 2,600 mah and now the international g3 with the removable battery is 3,000 mah. If they would have kept it embedded I'm sure the battery would have been around 3,500 mah.

Decreased frame rates when your playing a game is a problem. Its annoying and ruins the game.
Personally i'm liking the phone so far. The battery life isn't all that bad unless the screen is on most of the time. I'm actually quite surprised that the battery life is that good. My phone usually lasts me a full day even if I leave my house without it fully charged (80% or so).
But of course I have a spare battery with me just in case. Doesn't hurt to be prepared

Yes I love my G3 and i chose it over the m8 and GS5. It's just this one thought that grinds my gears a bit. It is a logical step and it seemed they cheaped out on it.

I was thinking more like a 3500 mah in this phone. It would help allot. Yet they didnt think that they would kill 2 birds with one stone if they increased capacity and added the removable function.

I mean I would have loved more juice too, I'm just going to give them benefit of the doubt and assume, they couldnt keep the bezels as slim as they are and making the battery removable and adding microsd card slot while increasing the removable battery size more than from 2,600 to 3,000.
But i agree 3,500 would probably have been the sweet spot.
Fair enough that actually may be another reason i never thought of. Silly me.
Do you guys think a battery manufacturer might be able to produce a 3500mah battery the same size as the stock one? Its okay if it a tighter fit.
Life is about compromises for most people and sadly the same is true about our choice of phone ......

Are you not understanding the fact that it's easier and much more possible for a manufacturer to include a higher capacity battery by making it non-removable? The battery is as good as it's going to get with the current form factory and removability. And LG makes great batteries, so don't expect some eBay store to beat them. You can buy a second battery, get a portable charger, or get a new phone.

A guy on G+ in the G3 community bought a 3500mAh battery on I think Ebay. Yes it's the same size but I think when he took videos it locked or something. Personally I would never buy a cheap battery or a non LG battery for a $600 phone. That's one reason why they catch on fire.
I've owned the G2, Flex and now the G3. I think LG is doing great with the battery life, camera, and design. The Flex had great battery life with the 3,500mAh battery but is noticeable bigger then the G3.

And the sharpening
I can deal with the battery....what's unacceptable is the lag.
Its almost putting me on the verge of never buying an LG ever again.
The HTC M7 was blazing fast compared to this and made the phone a enjoyable experience.....optimize the software you F*ckwits.
I hate lag, I hate it I hate it........the saving grace which is starting to wear thin is that its so pretty to look at, that is untill I turn the thing on and the lag infuriates me again.
No problems here with battery life with my kind of use, 2 days of normal use till charge
Never ever had that with my other smartphones
:good::good::good:
Lag, lag lag...All these posts about lag. As a former Nexus 5 owner, these lag complaints are what infuriate me. Change your animations to .5, switch to ART. Install nova or another 3rd party launcher. Personally, I have the 3/32 on Sprint and I don't see the lag. Again, I'm coming from N5 so you'd think I'd notice, right? Well, I don't. I switched to nova for about a week and then I switched back to stock. With animations at .5, I think stock is just as fast. Seriously people, if the phone disgusts you that much, return it. There are plenty of others, like me, even professional phone reviewers, who think this is currently the best android device available. Also, I know you're all entitled to your opinions as am I, not trying to start a flame war here. :end rant:
hello,
i've seen this video about comparison of battery life test between KK and LP for the lg G2,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV_3XWEzfic
as i saw, there is a big difference between KK & LP, is that really true ? because as i've seen on some articles, people complaint about battery life drain on LP
so what's your result after using LP on G2, does the battery drain faster ? or it really long lasts as the video shown ?!

My dude, that hype about lollipop having bad battery life is true, but partially. The thing is, I call them "stupid" users who update their android without wiping and then have problems and complain, shout and all the stuff blaming LG for that. You will get the same battery life you get with kitkat IF you clean flash! Factory reset/wipe and then flash it for fresh start and the battery life will be as good, if not better, because I think lollipop manages GPU better so when watching youtube, you get even less battery drain compared to kitkat. I'm not sure tho, but you can not be worried about the battery life on lollipop!
There was definitely a big battery life drop between stock KK and stock/AOSP LP.
I installed and paid for the full version of servicely - which displays which apps are waking up your wakelock and lets you disable them when the display is off.
So far it's great, but I have a few questions:
1. WiFi activity took 8% over night. On my G4 WiFi improved the battery performances, and didn't reduce it. Does it change from phone to phone?
2. I have Xiaomi 10,000 powerbank, using it with the USB-TO-TYPE-C cable I got in the box may damage the battery?
3. Am I the only one who thinks the camera sucks? I mean, it was praised all over the net as one of the best, yet it feels lame compared to my G4 (I took pics with both to compare). It feels like a plain Nexus camera, as the previous ones were. The camera app sucks ass as well.
4. I saw that the device tends to blend really easily (on Youtube), I always put the phone in my back pocket and sit on it, it was fine with all my previous phones. Do I need to worry?
Thanks!

1. Using WiFi instead of mobile data will yield better battery performance regardless of the phone. How much does your battery drain in total overnight? It's only a couple of percent at most for me, so you're talking about 8% out of something like 2%, it's miniscule.
2. I don't see why it would damage the battery, it certainly won't change fast though.
3. I've taken some amazing shots, and seen others take amazing shots with the stock camera. It doesn't have as many features as some other camera apps, but I honestly don't think it needs them. It's a camera in a phone, it's meant to be point and shoot, and it does that extremely well.
4. I have to ask, ateare you serious or are you trolling here? No matter what phone we're talking about, you shouldn't be sitting on your phone. Yes, you should be worried.

No, I meant actual 8%, not 8% of battery consuming. In battery consuming it's 60%. I think it's quite a lot.
And no, I'm not trolling. A lot of people put their phones in their back pockets and sit on it, never been an issue with all my HTC's or my G4. Does it bend really easily?
I can't quite get a grip on your battery stats and WiFi usage, but would say it sounds high. I'd look at the router and see if it's picking up a lot of interference and change channels. I'd reset the WiFi settings on your phone and start again. I'd also remove apps and start again one at a time. A rogue app is most likely the cause of drain, especially if you've used one to restore data from another phone.
As for sitting on your phone, that's just silly and I can only say you've been lucky so far. The phone doesn't bend easily in normal use, but it does have weak spots as seen on YouTube. Short answer, don't sit on it!

Are you saying it's dropping 60% overnight? What are you using to get these numbers? The phone doesn't bend easily in normal use, but sitting on it is asking for trouble.

We have a mess here. I lost 8% overnight, and 60% of the 8% were by WiFi activity.
But as the other guy said, it might be the poor signal I get lately which caused a higher battery usage.

That's very possibly the cause, why not just turn it off overnight?
I am reluctant to switch over because I can't leave xposed. Is nougat faster or better than marshmallow by a significant margin?
Thanks for the input.
No
No it's actually worse especially battery life
Yes
For me N is better than MM, more fluid and battery is amazing.
So, here's the deal with the update. It's good, and offers much more enhancements than I thought. Notice I used the word "enhancements." The features are essentially the same in Nougat, but nearly everything works better (e.g. super quick unlock (fingerprint or not), ), no more annoying volume warning (finally!), ultra power saving mode has more compatibility and color, multitasking, notifications, camera smoothness, edge features, android stability). Initially, I was quite mad at Samsung for enforcing a change from QHD to FHD resolution, but it appears that the performance enhancements are worth it. It makes up for the Snapdragons lackluster performance on this device. I believe battery-life is slightly worse so far, but it might be because I'm using my device more. Is it faster? Yes, but a reboot is needed more often than before as well. Marshmallow felt slightly more smooth than this though. Still, the coolest thing about this update is it makes you feel like you got a new device for the few minutes.
People edge is ugly on nougat...
Really worse than mm
I'm loving it. Fast, better interface, better notifications, battery life seems better (Exynos)...the only thing I notice is that memory management seems more aggressive. I wouldn't change back. Not rooted, not using Xposed (if I was, then Nougat would not make sense yet)
Loving it so far, battery life has been better than ever before for me, love the interface the new performance mode selections, the power saving and especially changing the resolution it's great.
I like Nougat more then MM, but battery life on Nougat is worse for me then on MM....
i do not know battery life in mm. but battery life in nougat is pretty good.
Love N over MM. Battery life is better for me. Also ui is much nicer.
