The functionality is gimped in the G/EU versions.
In the EU version it's just voice unlock, US version is far more extensive, have no idea why ZTE insist on fragmenting their user base with such stupidity.
If anyone can extract the .apk from the US rom that would be appreciated.

Me too
I live in Paris -- my phone came from Germany -- and have the same problem. Would love to know if there is a fix.
Is it possible to load the USA software onto the G version, or something similar?

Yes you can apparently.
I tried to extract the apk from the full us b29 image from system.new.dat
Unfortunately ImageExtractor constantly crashes when it gets to 'E' so I can only get all the apks from A to E.
If a USA user can either extract or simply backup the apk it would be most appreciated for us G users.

I use ES file explorer which lets you backup any user or system app to a directory.
But the playstore has many similar backup apps dedicated just to backing up apks.
You could perhaps try this one.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ort&pcampaignid=APPU_1_6_yUWLDtHMfQ0gSlopf4Dg
Apk Export
Should just give you a list of installed apps, and then just navigate to MyVoice and it will copy the apk.
Much appreciate if you can manage it.

It won't install unfortunately.
But it has still helped me compare the US/Euro versions.
Which in turn has led me to making some progress, It led me too 2x additional apks, One which I have installed, and I can get some of the voice options, although some menus are in English, and some in Chinese.
And some options are crashing, but I can enable voice unlock, or name the assistant, sound unlock, voice memos, weather.
I will need some more time, to see what I can get working well.
I'll keep you posted.
Appreciate the help.

What's got me confused is....
The apks I managed to extract from a custom rom are called...
HaloSpeech.apk this is identical to the MyVoice.apk you uploaded.
Same version, size etc but named differently....
My G version also called MyVoice.apk is slightly higher version.
These won't install or overwrite my version.
I also came across HaloSpeechBase.apk which is about 50Mb.
This seems to contain the extra and missing voice stuff and installed, and as mentioned I can get to many of the voice functions, some crash and half of them are in Chinese.
I cannot help but think there should be a USA version of this file likely called something like MyVoiceBase.apk or similar and should be about 49Mb.
So perhaps if you could look to see if there perhaps a similar file on yours.
But not sure why the custom us rom i extracted them seems to have Chinese versions. But I will try and keep digging in the meantime.
I have enabled some of the functionality., so am confident this is doable.

I will take a look
I didn't find anything with base, but I find a Halo file. Here it is http://sendanywhe.re/1S9YPENS

Hello,
Old thread, but maybe still someone can help around this problem..
I have got G version now, and some of the functions are missing of CH version as My voice, and MI-tools (with ZTE's factory shipped sound meter, calculator etc) and MI-Assistant
Also My Voice (as you called halovoice).
Anyone has it for the G version or someone could export it
from US (halospeech)
and also MI-Tools and MI-Assistant from Chinese version ?
I would really appreciate theese files!
Thanks in advance, AO

I see the China retail firmware for the Moto X (XT1085)was released. It is based off of Android 5.0.2. I assume it has a lot of the regular android features stripped out as it is much smaller then a normal build. If anyone wants to take a look or even try flashing it you can find it here:

No Google services is why it's good on battery
No play services only or no google services at all? I ask because most google apps or even 3rd party apps rely on play services for a lot of stuff. They will simply not work?

A reddit user has gotten a hold of a Nexus 5x early, and posted the new Google Camera. I know a lot of people have been interested in getting a hold of the apk to hopefully get it to run on the Nexus 6, so I figured I'd share.

Definitely worth a try, or if someone has time to deodex it that might work. I want to play around with it more, but I have to go to work, hopefully someone can get it running by the time I'm done!:good:
would you have to be rooted to push this?
you do realize that its just the google camera? you wont get any new features, as itll only show the features that are actually possible from your phone, just like the play store version. lol.
Wasn't sure if it was like moto camera in the play store, and how its limited to certain devices. I figured it could be a newer version than is currently available to all devices in that regard. The current published version is 2.7.008, the one posted is 3.0.026. It could at least have the updated UI, regardless of features.
Google will release Camera v3 for all devices running L and M, since its their first version to use the new Camera2 API. They could do it next week or it could take months, who knows.
If we're lucky, it'll somehow enable the Nexus 6 to do high-speed video recording as well... since as far as i'm aware, the hardware is capable of it, just no software support yet.
And am i the only one who's annoyed that pictures you take STILL look like crap when zoomed in using Google's Photos app?

why do you use the google photos app? i dont use it. i use the aosp gallery . and its working on marshmallow!
You have a link for where to download the latest version? Or is it in the Play Store as well? I've always used the gallery app before, but I've been running stock Marshmallow since it came out. Kinda waiting for the Slim team to get some 6.0 lovin before I switch back to custom roms.
i was waiting for the camera to be ported but from 6P since its the one with slowmo capability, 5X doesnt!
but still good if we can run this one. gonna wait for success results.

You might have to fix the permissions. We also might just be SOL for now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/camera-3-0-nexus-5x-t3226936
(If you don't want to wait, I see someone's uploaded v3 right here. There's also a solution on the app store called Solid Explorer. Dev is really great as well as the app, and it works with systemless root.)
Hello. If you're like me, you've been using ES for a really long time. It's a really stable solution, and since I have nothing to do, why not debloat one of the best file managers made?
First off, I removed some unnecessary permissions from "app_permissions_en.txt". Saved the new one as *.txt, and the old one as *.txt.old (* being app_permissions_en). The thing is, I don't know if some of the ones I removed are required for root functionality, so that's why I saved the original one separately. There was a "dxsomething" folder with an image for an ad, so I deleted that.
There's a .txt file name lc.txt, and it has this text in it: "d8JH9lPQkvto1uYe", anyone know what that is? Not bothering with it until I need to.
I'm going to stop here, test if basic file manager functionality works, and I'll get back to this thread.
Edit: yeah I've abandoned this project for various reasons. I haven't really had the time to work on it. sorry to everyone :/
You are doing a nice job mate, upload the debloated file and we can test it, cheers

due to offical forum,GMS is back.
you have to uninsatll your GMS core (if there is) first. (neccessary)
then update your firmware to B135. (neccessary)
after, go to huawei store ,find "GMS 安装器" and install .
enjoy!!
I tested, It works !!
My device : MHA-AL00 B135 (Update from B125,china edition) 4G+64G.
It works!
I upgraded my mate9(4+32) from b125(?) to B135, and installed this app. After reboot, the GMScore is installed, and all Gapps I installed later works.
It seems that this third-party has found a way to flash a custom zip through Huawei's new recovery.
Can anyone look into the mechanism?

I think this is not third-party but actually official. Because Bruce Lee, the Huawei VP of Handsets Product Line also posts this app in his Weibo.
Though HUAWEI may don't want to officially acknowledge it for some reason.

when you click install button., IT require reboot, reboot to recovery!as far as we know, only huawei knows how to install software through recovery.

Curious about best practice here. Best to take it out of the box, update to latest OTA firmware version, then install and run GMS to get play and setup your stuff? Or, best to setup an 009 firmware Chinese version with all your stuff, then update firmware, then install and run GMS and your stuff?

The Chinese version is about $100 cheaper than the international version and does not come with a preloaded GMS core. The lack of GMS somehow irrritated lots of so-called high-end Chinese users that frequently travel internationally. There was heated dicussion and deep dissapointment spreading in the official Huawei forum and people threatened to return the device if Huawei does nothing to satisfy them on GMS core availability. According to someone close to the management, it is because the neogotiation between Huawei and Google on the use of GMS did not work out and maybe it is true that Google charges HUAWEI on the use of GMS on domestic devices. It is all possible that Huawei marketed the mate 9 relatively cheaper in rhe Chinese market in order to take more market share, and do not want people from other countries to take advantage of the lower price of the Chinese version as it will harm the premium figure Huawei tries to establish on the mate 9. So to ease the Chinese users that need GMS and prevent internstional users from importing from China, they released this GSM installer in a "secret" way.

Just tried it and it seems to be working for me. Did you set the Google now launcher as the default launcher?
thats awesome guys...thanks for the feedback..ordered mine a few days ago..got it in..mocha brown is so beautiful...turned it on, only to be greeted by a Google Sign-In.....turns out the seller i turned down before that originally had chinese version, got in the international aisa version and sent that to me when i told them it again...now just sitting around for the update to hit....meh...still a beautiful phone, looks to be a good replacement to my note 7!
I got mine, had B109 with working Google services and I uninstalled all the Google stuff, did OTA to B125. Then it offered B135 OTA so did that. After reboot I stalled GMS and Play store and all good. Had to install Google contacts from APK mirror, and had to go to permission manager and allow Google app as trusted and auto start to get OK Google functionality working g but all good now.

so if i were to buy the mha-l00 chinese version of mate 9 and do this GSM update thing, then will i get the google play store and all its google goodness services working (all while keeping my phone updated with the latest official huawei updates)? will this GSM upgrade patch also allow other apps such as youtube, facebook, or other so called "banned apps in china" to work properly? or is this update patch limited to just using google play store and its services? basically changing a chinese version of the mate9 to a international version? is this correct? i am asking becuase I live in china and use the youtube app, as well as other foreign apps and games regularly on my other US bought phone (i dont like using the website versions of youtube, or facebook, etc) and i wish to do the same with the mate 9.
Its important for me to know and be sure because i already bought the mha-l00 version once the day it came out here in china but sold it at a loss a week later because i couldnt get the google stuff working, as well as the youtube app (all while on my vpn...) and i dont want to get screwed again...
im also visiting HK in a week and ill be on the lookout for the mha-l29/09 version there and hopefully ill find it and it wont be too much more expensive there then in mainland china. OR if i can be 110% sure that this GSM patch will support any and all foreign apps on the mha-l00 (in mainland china, while on my vpn), then maybe i wont need to wait to get to HK and look for it there, and maybe also save myself a few bucks, again... Thanks duraaraa for all your awesomeness and hard work!!!
Dear All,
This morning when i tried to restore deleted photos from my A2017G (AEX 5.8 nFound Latest Treble ROM) because i accidentally deleted some important photos yesterday.
These are my spec:
- A2017G 4/64
- AEX 5.8 Treble by NFound build date 20180812
- Kernel Schwifty vR3+
- Magisk v16.7 (1671)
-- GL Tools Module
-- Magic Charging Switch Module
File recovery app:
- Disk Digger Pro File Recovery build date 20180805
I found some recovered photos which i never took with my camera or screenshot, and by the look of them indicated that they were taken silently by system (please notice there is no statusbar on the pics).
Can anyone else confirm my findings? Is it possible that the custom ROM itself does this or other software? I never installed any malicious or unknown apks on my phone but XDA Labs Apk and Magisk Modules.
Attached are some of my proofs (recovered with Disk Digger Pro), there are more but some of them are private whatsapp chat session and my contact lists.
Please be advised, this is a pure Q&A post, i never intended to accuse any developer of any ROM or Software regarding my findings posted in this post.
Any chance that recovery app showed original location?

I checked there's nothing similar on my Sony Z3C L14.1. Could be from custom bootstack or recovery. More likely it could be from closed ZTE code in drivers or bootstack. Easy way to narrow the cause to being proprietary ZTE code is running complete stock with root for awhile to check if it occurs. My ROM is B32 Nougat source with it too (though I think it has some Chinese B10 source mixed in looking at github), so can run B32 stock to check. Some screenshots are saved as 1440 while some as 720 resolution.
It will not look weird if this is true.ROMS from axon7 are maintained by someone from an "unfriendly state"
Moderator Edit: Please avoid being TOO explicit in your opinion on fellow earth-dwellers... I've edited the above. Thanks
Well this is strange then. Someone else mentioned the same Disk Digger discovered screenshots thing in the Moto G5S Plus forums earlier this month. Lluvia ROM. Wonder what's going on here.
I reckon it's time I examine my stuff on both phones.

That has got to be the most idiotic thing. So you're saying "they" (Kranoner, NFound, WesTD, et al) are subversives? Secretly and purposely grabbing goodies from our phones for some nefarious purpose? LMFAO.
Sure it's not beyond possibility but still...
That can be the case with anyone, whether they're flying the Red, White & Blue or the sickle and hammer.
Since a big chunk of ROMs are built by folks from around the world what are you gonna do. Start vetting devs to find out what their views are regarding the US/West before flashing ROMs. We really don't need that kind of thinking.
ZTE Axon 7 A2017U, AospExtended v4.6 ROM, LlamaSweet 0.5 Kernel, microG (NoGapps), Multiboot, XDA Legacy

ZTE, a government audited company from China recently got whipped by the USA for breeching privacy laws and providing equipment to Iran and you are worried about Russian and Turkish developers?
Do you realise that the Turks are big allies of the west? They fight with the west against trouble in the middle east.
And what connection would a developer have with any politics anyway?
Who says developers dont work in secret for the government? but i say crazy things fast lol,but not impossible. What else can the problem be?Google sources?

Please stop posting, unless you have something on topic to contribute. You're embarrassing yourself. Perhaps ZTE, please learn to read and get a basic understanding before spewing your filth.

I would try that recovery app but how could I trust that app, not being malicious?
Can't find anything helpful about that app dev.

You can twrp backup first, test and restore after. Keep net turned off all the while or use a firewall.
edit: to external card to not lose deleted recoverable images

What directory did you find these in?
I got one better, was trying to download one of the HellsGate Kernels on my computer and Chrome won't let me download it due to a Virus detected and MSE quarantined it. I tried two different mirrors and same thing. Could be a false postive after reading about it but just want to let people know about it.

Report says it's a Win32 trojan. Don't think that applies to an Android kernel build file. Probably false positive
