Submit a log (since it's gaming related I doubt if a Dev will consider it, however) or go back to stock ROM.
You cannot compare a stock ROM to a custom ROM. There will be many differences, highs and lows in a lot of areas.
Its like comparing an original Royal Enfield bike to a custom designed motorcycle. Those are two different things so you cannot expect things to work the same way. For better or worse.

hi, i came from Note. it was a really hard decision to make. but yeah i m here. sold my note for S III. i have not came out of the Note's mesmerizing feel i used to have when holding and using my Note... as far as screen size and the S-Pen is concerned, Yes i miss that! but i am good with S3. i know it would get better with time.
well, i have not touched the software side of my phone. i mean i have not rooted or flashed my phone at all until now. i wanted to know some things from u guys who have already rooted or installed the custom roms on your phones.
like Note had those Hard Brick issues and the memory issues, does S3 also have those issues?
what are the best roms that are really THE BEST in terms of performance. what i mean by perfromance is the the roms with the best benchmark scores. i am a benchmark scores dependent guy. like it or not but benchmark scores do matter a lot to me.
can u people suggest my any good custom roms?
(i loved the Rocket Rom for Note!)
thanks in advance for ur help

Hey Guys,
Ive got a couple of questions.
I bought my N7 like 3 weeks ago and enjoyed it alot.
But after the 4.2 Update i'm kinda dissapointed. Due to the reason that i dont want to do a fullwhipe because ive got like 5 gigabyte of Games and Apps that i dont want to install again(meh slow internet) i wanted to know if one of the currently available custom Kernels will give me the great n7 4.1.2 expirience back. Also the gaming performance in Games like Spiderman or Asphalt 7 is really bad, not even close to 60 fps (i think so ^^)Or you would you suggest me doing something else like flashing one of the 4.2 Custom Roms (Cleanrom etc.).
I really like the tooglebar so dont really want to go back to 4.1.2. Any other suggestions are also allowed .(Note: My question may sound nooby, but i have got my Moto Defy where Custom Roms really increase the performance a lot and so i dont know how it is on the N7)
Gameloft games will not run at 30 fps on our tablet. They haven't optimised them for multi core processors such as ours. However they did plan to fix that since the introduction of the nexus 10 tablet. However its only 30fps all normal games are locked down to that only mad finger games such as dead trigger, shadow gun etc run higher and with fluidity. No kernel is going to fix that. In fact I've had much more success with the stock 4.2 kernel than any other available. Its actually the first time I haven't felt the need to use an alternative kernel.

Ok thanks
and how about the overall performance, will it increase if I use either one of the Kernels or Roms?

depends on the kernel. some yes, some no.
I know its against the rules but could you recommend the best ones?

I suggest staying on stock. You might wanna flash a stock ROM. Maybe even try rasbean I've been on a stock aosp built ROM and love it.

You seem to be every other post in that thread, so I would say yeah . Trinity or Franco are the most popular kernels
sent from an aosp, rasbeaned nexus 7
To the OP why not use a backup program for your apps/games? Also a Nandroid backup will give you the ability to go back to your current set up if you don't like the change after flashing a kernel/rom.
Before flashing a kernel load a stock kernel you can flash back to.
I agree with the post above that says they are biased on suggesting a kernel. I think a better place to find a good kernel is in the thread for the ROM you want to run. But even better read through the kernel threads.

So i switched to Cleanrom and Trinity Kernel, didnt improve. I think i have to wait for a release from google.

Hi guys! As the title says, considering at first gaming performance obviously! That's the main feature of this device, some ROM that you experienced that doesn't generate any lag on any game!
And considering secondly the overall performance of the device, the smoothness and the speed of it, as well as the load times in games.
All in all, just considering performance. Thank you for response.

sorry for late reply my xperia play was out of commision for awhile got its screen fixed and looking into roms, currently using xElite gamer final addition.
I think best is Gin2KitKat - every game works fine, there is PSX support, it looks great.
Only - is that it's old firmware - 2.3.4.
Sent using XT1562 - stock 6.0 (retasia DualSim)
Yeah thank you, I already knew that Gin2Kitkat 3.3.0 is the best out there. (It's 2.3.7 though).
Its 2.3.4 based with 2.3.7 backports.
However if You want newer Android version and Rom with good performance, I would recommend You SlimBean as it's the only Rom on which I was able to play Ravensword and even finish it (on other Roms there was a lot of crashes when playing) with not to much lag (ofc no gamepad or touchpas support in game).

Hi guys.
I've using the stock for about 5 months, but it's not as crist fast as my oneolus one.
I'm sure it's a ROM issue and I was thinking to switch to cyanogen. How do u like it and do you like other Roms as well?
Thanks.
PureNexus is the best I ever tried

Should be an issue from your side because my N6P is flying compared to my OPO.
Factory reset might solve the issue - backup first.

This might be due to something else cause OPO is not as smooth a stock 6P. Anyway, ID suggest you to try Pure Nexus, it's really smooth and has many features.

The stock rom is like butter and for sure is way better than my old OPO. Like the others mentioned you should try a factory reset, otherwise try the Purenexus rom, I'm on Purenexus with ElementalX kernel and its coup de grace is the Layers theme engine and customization! Hope this helps

I kicked out Cyanogen about a few years ago when I had the Nexus S. As the above users advised, PureNexus is currently the most-used ROM here, and pair it with your choice of kernel, and you will be good.
I have the OnePlus One too, and it's performance is nowhere near my 6P.
If you're looking for a lot of customizations, DirtyUnicorns or ResurrectionRemix would be great choice too.
Pure nexus, vanir comotio is good. Cyanogen is good. Dirty unicorns is the best. Its fast, perfect on battery, and has anything that exists. Dirty unicorns with their kernel, and I've ran every current ROM.
But I've heard that Cyanogen is still not well developed for this phone, is this true? or can it be used as a daily user ?
After enabling developer options, try reducing Windows Animation Scale and Transition Animation Scales

I may be in the minority but I prefer screwd ROM. The 4/8 milestone release is very smooth, fast, & stable. I was a long time RR user, but since "OK google" detection from the lock screen wasn't reliable Ive switched. I've tried a lot of 6p ROMs tho & pure nexus is a great, stable ROM. I didn't have the best luck with cyanogen, even tho for other devices its been one of my favorite. & some cyanogen based ROMs ive had some minor issues with. For reliability & stability I'd go pure nexus or screwd. For customization I'd go Resurrection Remix, but those are simply my personal preference. DU is also a great rom. Theres lots of ROMs to choose from. I like to try em a wide selection & then decide. Afterall what's the point of having a nexus device if you're going to leave it stock. I guess for me thats any device tho.
Pure nexus rom for sure
I have been using it since I bought my 6p

As the title says, I need a rom which don't kill everything in sight.
On the stock rom, I could play Pokémon Go, use Calcy IV and listen to Spotify no problem, but since I tried other roms, not a single one handled this. If I play Pokémon Go, I can't use Calcy IV, much less listen to Spotify.
Is there any way to make my phone not kill everything?

Does all custom ROMs behave like this? One of of the main reasons I want to unlock and go custom is Moto's (and most other OEMs) stock memory management sucks. I remember going custom on my Moto E and Idol 3 made memory management so much better, specially on the Idol 3. But if custom ROMs for the G5 Plus actually make this worse, I guess I'd rather stay stock.
