I accidentally find this way to get rid the dim light. I know most grand 2 ROM user experiencing this issue. So lets start.
First go to systemmui then tap the autobrightness to check and then tap again to uncheck. See the result guys. Its work on me. Im using Jserrom j5 port but the problem is when i turn off and on again it comes back so you need to tap again the autobrightness and tap to uncheck. And i guess this is the Bug most of the rom. Sorry im not fluently speak in english but i know you understand what i said. I hope it helps you.

Tried the auto brightness option but it doesn't make a difference with various ambients.... I've seen it worked when first bought it and while setting up for the 1st time... but that's about it
nothing installed at all, beside from the Google maps update, Flash 10.3... that's it.
not a big deal... I rarely uses that feature anyway, manually adjust the brightness most of the time.... odd that it isn't functioning like it should.
Thanks.
having the same issue
same situation here .
I had this happen too...
Just turn on autobrightness and then reboot (turn off en on again), solved it for me...
In do, however, prefer to set the brightness manually

update...
I have a "flashlight" app on my Nexus One ...
If I shine the light at the sensor - ( located directly at the bezel border inline with the screen orientation lock button ) - the auto-brightness will again work
seems like it needed a "kick-start" ... but as you use your tablet ... at a later time... the bug will again appear... and you need the "kick-start" allover again...etc
hopefully the more people report this... the issue will be address by Acer
I know my tablet's auto-brightness works, it just seems the change is incredibly gradual so maybe that's why it appears to not be working.
If i you enable disable it, it would seem that it doesn't enable but after a few seconds the brightness definitely changes.
is there anyone else beside me think that the sensor should have been a visible hole similar to the camera instead of under the dark/black bezel ??
other tablets I've seen you can visually see the sensor window/circle... The Iconia's sensor is really hidden under the bezel... you really have to look hard or at a certain angle in a bright lit area in order to vaguely see it... maybe a design flaw ?
These 5 buttons at the bottom, are dark. They are never illuminated.
I already installed this ROM about a month ago. But now it began to bug me lately.
Is there anyone experienced this before? or can anybody with that?
thanks in advance.
and thanks to all the developers for their hard work. especially you, munjani...
How do you mean?
it will turn light on when night or dark..
and it will turn light off when daylight.
about button lights

Same problem here... when i am going to settings and set it on manual and then the lights are illuminated.. untill i lock the screen en when i unlock it the light wont light up... so maybe it is a bug in the rom... so my experiene is that it does not matter if u set it to auto/manual ... it just does not work like it should be ..
It is absurd!
there is no solution for that simple problem in any forum in the internet. and nobody talk about that problem, even samsung itself doesn't seems to work on a fix, its like samsung doesn't even know that problem.
everyone knows that the galaxy s5 have issue beening in the pocket While geting new Notification, because the screen is turn on and it's unlock the lockscreen by itseft inside the poket and you can suddenly find out that it sent SMS by itself in the pocket or call someone by itself or open google maps by itself in your pocket without even noticing!!!!
This is a huge screw-up of Samsung !!!!!!!!!!!!
in kitkat 4.4.2 it was only the Default SMS app that turn the screen on when new message arrive, but now in Marshmallow 6.0.1 - Every ***king app turning the ***king screen on, and there's no way to turn this thing off!!!!!!!!!!! even if i have root access!!!!!! nothing!!!!!!!
i don't want to turn off completely the lockscreen Notifications
i don't want to turn off the Sound of the Notifications
i don't want to turn off the led light Notifications
i just want that the screen will stay off While getting new Notification !!!!!!
like every normal android phone Out there!!!!!
SAMSUNG, is that too much to ask???????????
is there anybody here that can show me a solution for preventing the screen turn on every time i get new Notification While keep popup Displayed on lockscreen and keep the sound alert and keep the led light flashing????
i have root!!! and i'm not Afraid of Deal with system files and codes - i'll do anything to stop this!!!
just please!!! somebody!!!!

TNX for trying, but I don't even have that option in the display settings. There's no toggle to turn on or off.
Are you sure you taking about galaxy s5 with marshmallow 6.0.1?
Are you on Official firmware or custom rom

Hello everyone. My english is poor and sorry for that. I was in Switzerland and brought cheap S7 edge. Man tells me that have a problem with displey. It is true. I used phone a day trying to fix him or get better option tu use. After a 5 hours of much work I get some options. My S7 Edge works well when light sensor detects light. It cant be less light, its must me right under the light or to get flashlight on phone. I chek that with oder phone, put flashlight on sensor and everything was okey, get off the sensor all got in chaos. I recorded that and will post youtube link here.
Any options what to do?
PS. Its cheked so much time and working, please dont joke me and reply non thead popst. Thanks.
So.. The way I understand it is that u have problem with auto light, that your phone has to be on full brightness for the screen to be good. What happens if u just turn auto light off and put brightness on the screen on full? Good then?
I've had this problem with stock ROM and now aokp. I have a 10s dim and 13s screen off timer. There is no setting that allows me to change this. The screen off timer has no effect.
@ polskon,
Hi, you can change your settings like this: Settings--Display--Dorment, and then choose the time. If not, you might choose to back up and factory your phone. If all this can not help you, you can give me your IMEI and I can help you. Hope your phone work!
