xt1609 Stock Rom/Files Request - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

I need to flash (from bootloader, which is locked) the original xt1609 Verizon rom. The only place that has a copy that I have found is FileFactory, and that download currently says that it will take over 7 hours for a 1.2gb file.
Does anyone else have a copy of it? Thanks!
Edit: 7 hours indeed, but I have the files. If anyone is interested in it post a comment and I'll upload.

Just saw your post.

If you ever need to download the firmware for the xt1609 you can use the following link. They have all the moto firmwares. I just downloaded the stock xt1609 firmware from my phone in less than 10 minutes.

RIP me I guess. Thanks for this. Covers more than just Moto as well which is nice. I'll probably be using this more often.

You can put a GSM SIM in but it will only get LTE bands 2, 4 and 5. You won't be able to get bands 12 or 17 (primary T-Mobile and AT&T LTE bands). You also won't get any 2G or 3G GSM signals so cellular talk and text won't work.

Not sure if there is a Verizon-variant tutorial for theG4 play but you should be able to use any generic G4 play tutorial for flashing firmware. I would assume that if any adb command did not pertain to your specific variant, that particular command would return a fail error but would not stop the rest of the adb commands from being successfully performed so you should be able to flash the firmware successfully.
Or you could just simply use only the adb commands that pertain to your firmware file and leave the rest out.

Then you just use the command "fastboot flash" and flash each file in the xt1609 firmware by name separately.

To avoid any potential problems, I would flash the firmware files in the sequence they are listed in.
If you have already started flashing and did not flash in the sequential order the files are listed in, you can start over from the beginning (DO NOT reboot your phone) while still in fastboot mode and just flash the first file listed, then the second file, and so on. This will correct any mistake you may have made.
Once you have successfully flashed all the firmware files
just fastboot command "fastboot reboot" and you should be good to go.

[GUIDE][XT1540][1GB&2GB] Updating to Marshmallow

Disclaimer:
I'm not responsible if you mess up following this guide and result in a dead phone with tears.
About this guide: This guide is intended to destroy all confusions that are arising from the MM rollout in US which many users like myself have failed to receive. Let me point it out that if you own an XT1540 Moto G and have not yet received the update, grabbing the MM OTA Update manually will NOT let you upgrade as the version required for the upgrade won't match with what you'll have. This is why one needs to follow these steps (regardless whether you own a 1GB or 2GB model) in order to successfully update to MM:
Required:
- XT1540 1GB Retail Latest Build from here.
- Knowledge on how to flash Motorola Factory Images. (Use this guide as a reference to learn)
Procedure:
1. Download the firmware image and extract it.
2. Put your phone in Bootloader Mode (Use the reference guide mentioned above).
3. BE CAREFUL. Flash away using the marvelous reference guide. However there is one upside IF you are coming from stock 5.1.1 with NO ROOT or MODs, you can skip the following commands in fastboot in order to avoid ERASING AND WIPING DATA:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot erase userdata
4. Now power on your phone, and check for updates and there will be an OTA update just waiting for you there.
5. Download it and enjoy MM.
Questions:
Q: Can this method be used on XT15XX versions?
A: No. The firmware is specifically for XT1540 and so is the guide.
Q: My phone got stuck on bootlogo. What to do?
A: Wait patiently. If you have followed all the steps in the reference guide and this guide properly, there should be no problem.
Q: Wouldn't flashing a 1GB firmware on a 2GB device malfuntion it?
A: I, personally own a 1GB model so I haven't tested. But many 2GB users have reported working with absolutely no issues.
If there are any more questions, feel free to PM me or comment below. If you want this thread to stay alive, refrain from posting the same questions again and again. Check OP for questions and answers before posting as I will keep on updating it with new questions that are asked.
Thanks to: @lost101 for the reference guide and factory image.
I got a "Preflash validation failed" error when flashing boot.img. I have a locked bootloader, and didn't want to mess up the phone yet, so backed out and rebooted. I'm guessing this is for unlocked bootloader devices only then?

I just read your post and also figured out...
IF YOU ARE STOCK => you do not have to do these commands..
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot erase userdata
Unfortunately for me, I did those commands and my wife is pissed.... (moral of the story... Backups, Backups, Backups) To be honest I thought that text history was being backed up by Google Backup.
UPDATE! My wife's 2G version is working flawlessly on MM after doing this update. Phone still has 2G of ram.

Even though I don't care to use an OTA, I did decide to try flashing it over the soak. It wouldn't work, because the soak is apparently looking for a Lollipop rom. I don't really care about going back just to go forward a little. I'm going to wait on the full download of MM when it's available for the XT1540. The latest soak is running perfectly for me, so I shouldn't be in any hurry to change anything, but I'm just a tinkerer and I'm not happy unless I can try something new weekly.

Unlock extras LTE Bands

Hello guys and girls. I successfully unlocked the bootloader of my SM-G900V and now I'm on the most smooth CM ever.
I live in Brazil, and here we don't have the LTE bands that the Verizon's S5 uses. So I tried unlock additional bands using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059.
Guess what? Didn't work.
It occurred to me that the problem could be the modem firmware, so I tried to flash modem from the others variants, and.... nope. ODIN's flash fail, and the download mode screen says "SECURE CHECK FAIL: modem" (something like that).
I almost made an attempt to flash using dd, or recovery, but decided to ask first.
Honestly it's hard to find a flashable zip of any version of modem.
I already made a backup of modem partition, in case of anything goes wrong.
The only LTE band I need is the 7.
My questions are:
Does anyone tried this before?
What is the risk to flash a modem firmware from other variant using dd/recovery?

Unfortunately it will not work. I've already tried before unlocking the bootloader. I'm now on CM13, and they does not have a hidden menu, only stock firmware (or port). Plus, when I accessed the menu on stock firmware, the B7 option said something like "not supported". Probably because the software is modified by Verizon.

Idoneapss.
Some clarification: Galaxy Tools by Idoneapps is a tool for changing various APN and hidden settings on the S5. I couldn't find an official link, but I have a direct link to the AndroidFileHost download. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347804710
You can probably find the band and APN settings yourself easily enough, but I'll do some experimenting and update when I find the options. It isn't the easiest UI.

Yesterday I tried to flash modem.bin and NON-HLOS.bin from another device using "dd". The flash was ok, and the device did turn on without problems.
I tried the baseband of these three devices: SM-G900M, SM-G900P and SM-G900T.
But... no LTE for me.
I'm still looking for a way to do this.
I have the Verizon varient and was able to set the APN to exactly to what my unlocked moto x pure is. It works perfect with at&t.........so far. I guess it's all about the APN since the sim is unlocked.

sim card not detected moto x play xt1562 india model

hello I had my moto x play xt1562 rooted with this method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/untested-how-to-root-moto-x-play-t3211941
I was using cm13 for maybe 3-4 months and then I decided to unroot it.
I followed this procedure: https://theunlockr.com/2015/09/22/how-to-unroot-the-motorola-moto-x-play/
but after rebooting my phone was stuck on bootloader unlocked page and every once in a while an android logo would come up with 'erasing' label.
I tried again but the same happened then I flashed twrp again and flashed cm13 as before.
but now it won't detect my sim-card any of it. both the sim are not working.
in unrooting procedure there were some modem/radio files flashing. i believe that has something to do with the issue in my phone.
can anyone please help me solve this. my phone is as good as a brick without simcards.

Yes, just unzip the file and make sure you've got the same number of sparsechunk files - if there's any difference make sure you flash all of them.

Unlocked Factory Image for Carrier locked STV100-1

Hello all,
Attached are modified factory roms that will flash an at&t or t-mobile phone to an unlocked phone. This means no more bloatware and in my case much better handoff between the lte bands.
These images reuse the carrier bootloader (I'm working on it) but everything else from the radio to the rom is from the unlocked priv.
Version: AAJ919
AT&T -> unlocked hybrid: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298947044
T-Mobile -> unlocked hybrid: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767153589
Directions: Unzip files. Hold power and volume down until phone reboots to fastboot. Launch flashall.bat. Follow instructions. This WILL delete your data so have a backup or don't I'm your boss. Wait. Done.
As usual I am not responsible for you bricking your phone. That being said even if the wrong file is flashed the phone gets stuck at the fastboot screen where you can flash the right file.

What parts are you having problems with?
Didn't work for me, unfortunately. Phone promptly asked for SIM Pin.

You must already have an unlocked phone. If your phone is paid off call your carrier and ask for the pin.

Disclaimer I dont have a vzw phone so can't test it, but pretty much I'm making the same modification I made to the others. It should work.
If you could give it a go and let me know.
If it doesn't work this file will get you back to where you should be

I haven't bought a priv yet. But i came across a killer deal for a VZ model that's I'd be using on tmo. I'm going to be snagging it. But will test for sure and let you know. I am just trying to read up on the phone before ordering it on how to get rid of bloat and whatnot without root. Thank you very much for making the file.

This does not unlock your phone, this is an unlocked rom with no carrier bloatware.
You must already have an unlocked phone. If your phone is paid off call your carrier and ask for the pin.

I tried it and it worked. However, once it boots it will install a software update which takes you back to the bloated VZW version. Perhaps there's a way to block that update?

Totally possible. If we had root just modify the host file and set the verizon server update ip to localhost. You should be able to install DNS66 and do something similar. This will take digging on your end to figure out what the update IP is though.
I have an ATT Priv, so if I flash this I'll get next time OTA from BlackBerry instead of ATT? Saw the one above with the Verizon update and went back to bloated version.
Reporting back in to verify that it worked flawlessly on both at&t and t-mobile variants I have. Now if only we could get root lol
Thank you so much for your effort
I have an ATT branded Priv which got unlocked from ATT directly and has successfully installed this ROM. It works perfectly without any ATT bloatwares, but this built is old and when I check for system update it shows my system is up to date. However the most recent built for unlocked factory image is AAL202 according to the blackberry official reload software website.
So does this ROM OTA updates via ATT server or directly from Blackberry server?

dude what about the firmware version? and update status?
is there one available for the AAL230 update? and is the at&t version provided here applicable on my priv with AAL230 update installed?

Hello all,
Attached are modified factory roms that will flash an at&t or t-mobile phone to an unlocked phone. This means no more bloatware and in my case much better handoff between the lte bands.
These images reuse the carrier bootloader (I'm working on it) but everything else from the radio to the rom is from the unlocked priv.
Version: AAJ919
AT&T -> unlocked hybrid: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298947044
T-Mobile -> unlocked hybrid: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767153589

AT&T runs a newer version of android then the international. If you want stockish android with no carrier bloat go international.

Send me a moto z play and we shall see. Otherwise sorry I can't test it.
With the very recent Verizon Priv update can the de-bloated image be updated?

Can't Unlock Bootloader of my LG G6 H870; "cannot load 'unlock.bin' "

Hi,
This is not the first time that I unlock a bootloader on a device.
I followed this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/how-to/official-lg-g6-bootloader-unlock-t3614719
Im following every step. As you can see on this image im getting an error that says: cannot load 'unlock.bin':
https://ibb.co/kQE8L5
My device goes into fastboot and reboots without a problem. I enable the option on my device to allow OEM unlock.
I saved my unlock.bin file in my Minimal ADB folder, but its not working.
Can someone please help me out? Thanks in advance!

Problem solved by removing Minimal ADB from my PC and reinstalling it.
It's good that you posted your solution. Glad you sorted it.

I'm pretty sure that the unlock.bin is customized for the iemi and the unique ID of your phone. So, just any random unlock file will not work. I hope I am wrong, though. Anyone know different?

Yes your correct. It's linked to your IMEI.
