first android was Samsung galaxy s4 w/root. it died :crying: . want to root Samsung s7 at&t on stock rom. what is the better choice before I buy new device. 930a (American, snapdragon) or 930f (international, exidois)
If you're planning to root and install custom roms go with the 930f (international exynos). Rooting is wayyyy better not using the engineering boot and there are so many roms out there. The international is an all better phone all together with better performance and battery life. Only thing you're missing out by not buying AT&T is wifi calling and better data speeds I believe. I have the AT&T galaxy s7 and I wish I bought the international one for the rooting and roms. You can root the AT&T model, but it uses an engineering root that can make the phone slower and takes a heavy toll on battery life that is overall just crappy.

I had a galaxy note 3 and really enjoyed the s-pen, so I decided I'm going to take some tax money and trade in my current phone for a note 4. I want to buy one that the boot loader is unlocked (would like root, custom recovery) and would also need a phone that can get LTE on at&ts network. Would an unlocked T-Mobile phone do this for me? (I'm actually on cricket if that matters). I heard T-Mobile doesn't lock the boot loader like at&t does.
Snapdragon mate, depends on what you want to do with it and where you are though.
Snapdragon. The only reason being developmental status. There is more involvement with the Snapdragon variant than the Exynos model.
performance is better in the exynos, root is better in the snapdragons. if youre using the phone as a phone get a 910U. if youre using the phone as a toy get the verizon dev edition.
Well said! :good:

Research is a little slow moving. I'm buying a new phone. This seems to be the most complete in terms of features (removable SD and IR blaster which is a small thing but missing from other flagships I've considered.)
My only concern is my carrier AT&T. If I buy the note will I be able to flash twrp? Is there a huge difference in custom ROM/kernel options from sprint or T-Mobile? Is there a certain model I should try to get?-I'm buying it unlocked.
I think most people understand the tedious process of choosing a new phone if you're into flashing Roms. Any info that's helpful is most welcomed. Thanks.
I actually use att service also and just bought a Tmobile Note 4 in January and I have never been happie with any phone I have ever owned.. N910T is best in my opinion if you are big on root because it has way more active developement and it has all the same lte bands that att uses
The tmob variant should work fine but the 910c definitely works and I think the 910f does as well. I'd steer clear of the actual at&t variant itself unless they have solved the root/bootloader issue. I guess the question is of you are buying sim free do you want the exynos or snapdragon variant

I am deciding which one to buy. I do not care about rooting the device. I do care about battery and performance. Planing to use it on USA T-mobile.
So what your thoughts?
Any answers?

The SM-G935F is the international version with an Exynos processor and it has an unlocked bootloader and can be rooted very easily.
The SM-G935U is the unlocked Snapdragon version available for the USA. It has a locked bootloader but root has been established for it.
If you care about performance there are Pro's and Con's to each device. I suggest doing some research about the real world performance and feel from the users in the Galaxy S7 Edge forums and see what everyone is talking about.
I'd I was making the choice I would buy the SM-G935F Exynos version. I will not buy another device with a bootloader that cannot be unlocked. That's why I am a Nexus user. Good luck on choosing a device if you are shopping for one.

I am finding the US 935U model is better on battery but once you root it battery life does take a hit. Otherwise,it is very fast without any carrier or Samsung bloat. So if you are looking for specific carrier apps you won't have it on the 935U model.

No updates yet for the 935U either. Still running the May security update.
Thank you guys for all your answers. Seems that is better idea to get the 935F . The performance and the battery are better not to mention the root capability and Custom Roms. The only thing is the warranty in the US, witch is in favor to the 935U.
You also won't have VoLTE/HD calling/Wifi calling with the F. Not sure if you care about those things or not, but something to think about.
I bought the F from b and h photography. One year warranty. Plus you can buy an extended warranty as well for drops and screens. I'm happy and secure with my purchase. Exynos, running basicplus rom, averaging 6 SOT, runs cool. No wifi calling and other little tmobile incentives I'm not missing.

Exynos is more efficient for everyday use.
Quote from gsmarena:
The test consists of two "laps" the first time around is a cold test that looks how quickly apps are loaded from storage. There the Exynos has a slight lead, perhaps the multi-core advantage gives it a boost.
The second lap checks if phones keep apps into RAM so the user can switch between them without having to reload the app completely. Last year it became clear that TouchWiz is pretty bad at it, but Samsung had supposedly fixed the issue.
And it sort of has - the Exynos-based Galaxy S7 flips back to apps very quickly while the S820 variant reloads them from scratch.

Hello guys i just ordered the 7 edge from amazon, i'm in europe so i guess i'll be getting the exynos version, i was wondering, are the roms the same for both SD and Exynos? or are there roms that only work in sd or exynos? I tried to search but seems that both are 935F instead of my S5 (900f for Snapdragon and 900h for exynos).
One more question, will my warranty be voided if i unlock bootloader? I read a lot of stuff that amazon won't care and that they don't even check it.
And finally, i'm pretty excited, i come from a OnePlus 3, while i liked it for it's fluidity and speed, i had some troubles with it's screen and i need a solid phone since i'm going to a cold country (s7 is nice for the water proof and humidity), i got it for 570€ new, so i guess it was a good deal (32gb version ofc)
Thanks
Hi,
Yes there are different ROMs for different processors, some ROMs may support both Exynos and Snapdragon, however don't take that for granted. I'm not following S7/E development, but back in S4 days the Snapdragon version had more ROMs than the Exynos version.
The 935F model number is the international Exynos S7 Edge, AFAIK the unlocked S7 Edge with Snapdragon variant has 935U as model number.
All the best,
~Lord

Thinking about getting a version galaxy s7 to use on metropcs network will this work or will I have reduced internet speed or any other issues with this phone ?
Also want to do the whole root thing ,is this possible or is the boot loader unlocked?will I be limited to what ROMs I can install, like Verizon specific?
Last and probably most important how is the battery life on this phone?
Thanks in advance .
1. You can flash the phone with G930U USA unlocked firmware, and will have no issues with a GSM carrier.
2. bootloader is locked.
3. battery is still good. I get 4 hours SOT over 48 hours.
I still recommend the phone in 2018. Camera and screen are awesome. Check out google camera port.
