I appologize if this question has already been answered in advance, I tried searching and only come up with threads that are copies of other threads and are misleading. I have a G4+ 64gb/4gb XT1644 retus. I want to update to Nougat, yes I know the update isn't in the US yet. I've read that people have flashed soak tests and such. My question is, is there an official update floating around that I can flash on my device that won't break future OTA's and is not a soak test? I appreciate any help thanks .

it does not revert back, where did you hear such a thing? you cant uninstall the update unless you reflash the stock firmware.

Query
Even I received the notification and I've filled up the survey. I was wondering whether I have to unroot+lock bootloader or the update will hit my phone on stock +rooted.

Damn. I installed one of CM12 roms just yesterday
Anyway this words sound very promising
This is an update to the over-the-air (OTA) installer that downloads system updates.
This update is necessary to enable a future upgrade of your device to Android 5.0, Lollipop. It updates the installer on:
Moto G (1st Gen.)

Just received mail this morning from MFN. People who are registered in MFN are in for a treat. Please check your email from MFN on your registered emails with MFN. You just have to fill out a small survey. Expect Lollipop very very soon. And for non-MFN users please give it at least 10 days to allow lollipop push to your device.
Cheers

hahahahaha, same with me. lets to stock rom now
According to this brazilian website, the 5.1 update has been released and a friend of mine get the update.
http://olhardigital.uol.com.br/noti...stribuir-versao-5-1-do-android-lollipop/47225
I will try to get some screenshots if possible. Anyone get this update too?
As far as I know, a software update for our device depends entirely on Motorola. Google launched 5.1 but it was for the Nexus phones, so I guess we'll have to wait until Motorola launches the update or someone else make a custom rom. Are you sure your friend is using a Moto G 2014? Maybe I'm lost and we're getting it. I don't know

First off, there is already a 5.1 thread here. Stop filling the forum with duplicates and triplicates.
Secondly, Internal Motorola sources say that Moto G 2014 5.1 updates will begin rolling out March 23.
And don't quote me. Let mods delete whatever posts they find redundant.

That such community, I hope they can solve my doubts, I have my moto g4 plus (XT1641) with dual sim, and unlock the Bootloader and I got cyanogenmod 13, but I found out about the soak test and returned to stock.
1.- When I enter fastboot mode it appears in yellow letters "Software Status: Modified". Is there a way to say "official" again? Does this "modified" status prevent you from receiving OTAs?
2.-What is the last compilation number? I have the compilation MPJ24.139-23.1

Modified status will not affect OTA.. as you said your build no. Is (139-23.1) , it's old, latest is (139-63)..
Just restore stock backup and check for update., May be you will get latest one..:good:

I'm sorry, but I've done all the steps, but I do not get the MPJ24.139-63 update, it just tells me that I have my device updated.
What I did was return to rom stock specifically with this file (XT1640-XT1641_ATHENE_6.0.1_MPJ24.139-23.1_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml).
Please let me know if I have done something wrong.
Thank you.

I have experimented a lot with my XT1643
My software status is also modified even after flashing stock rom....
But software status does not affects the phone a bit...
OTA may not come ! at least didn't in my case even after 15 days...So chill...
Currently I am running CM 14.1 Nightly which is obscenely fast than any stock rom..U can try that
Is there anyone out there who knows why this firmware update and past updates for XT1687 take months after the OTA to become available and other models don't? I would genuinely like to understand this. It's nice to have updated firmware stored if/when it's needed. Is it nameless independent devs stepping up for the people doing what Lenovo won't do, providing support.
*SIGH*

sigh** EDIT**
This has been a very confusion experience. I have XT1687 RETUS, I was using POTTER_RETAIL_7.0_NPNS25.137-83 before to lock my bootloader. With the bootloader locked I was still receiving OTA updates and flashing them with no issues. So I under the impression that POTTER_POTTER_RETAIL_7.0_NPN25.137-93-4 was still correct, but I've apparently been wrong about this. There a minūte difference not discussed with these differences NPNS <-------------This S.
