Hi, updated to Nougat, this icon randomly appeared, can't remember what setting I changed before I noticed it had appeared. Does anyone know what it is? There doesn't seem to be an option in the notification panel for it.
This icon is for data gap limit, you can remove it by disabling the data limit under mobile data

Thanks. I did set a limit. Bit annoying that the icon is permanently there and no way of removing it without disabling the mobile data limit.

As title says..
Even if I remove the checkmark within settings, it the checkmark returns as soon as I reenter settings. Now I dont think it really is turned on since I dont see the notifier in the status bar nor can I browse websites. My mobile usage isnt increasing as well.
Now I noticed that in the notification panel, my icon for mobile data is slightly faded. I cannot turn it back to completely gray like the other features I have turned off. Screenshot attached.
Bump. Anybody??
First thing I noticed after update is changed lockscreen
Now, on the bottom of the lockscreen, three icons used to be "dialer", "unlock", "camera", but now there are "microphone" on the left where the "dialer" app is used to be.
Is there any way I get "dialer" app back on the lockscreen?
Also I cannot swype left or right on the lockscreen to run dialer or camera, I need to touch the icons and swipe then.

This might half-work:
Shortcut Lock Screen Mod [MM]
I say "half-work" because I don't use it myself and it doesn't mention the swipe part, just replacing the icons.
GravityBox also has the ability to add custom icons (they'll show up under the clock).
settings>>all apps>> top gear icon>> default>> assist and voice>> assist--NONE
and dialer is back.

Well that's much easier than what I wrote.

Thank you very much, that works perfectly !
Although found something else that is weird.
When I turn off WiFi, it used to show me "4G" or "3G" icon next to reception bar, when on mobile data.
After the MM update There is nothing shown there, I have no idea if the data is enabled or not, neither if it is 4G or 3G. Is this something wrong with my device or it is MM "feature" ?
How can I get icon for the data connection back on ?!

If you're rooted you can use gravity box xposed module to show it back. No idea why it happened in the first place
OK sorted the problem.
I went to stock recovery (I'm not rooted) and cleared cache partition, rebooted and now it shows 3G/4G icon when I'm on mobile data.
thanks everyone for the support
Hey guys there's been a strange icon in my notification bar that's bugging me a lot I don't know what it is can someone identify what it is?
Is right next to the network name.
It's a circle and a plus sign inside it
Screenshot?
A screenshot will be good.
Although, I suspect it's RCS?
Is Wi-Fi calling enabled? My Wi-Fi icon added a circle with a plus when I enabled it.
It's the data saver indicator. It can be disabled in the mobile data menu in settings.

No it is not a screenshot sign and I can't screenshot it to show you since I'm a new member I can't have links
I'm going to Samsung to see what it is

I see you have edited your original post.
Someone else answered your question. It is the Data Saver feature.

Strange Icon / Circular Bar with plus sign
It is a Data Saver Icon
You can disable/enable it by going to setting > connection > data usage > data saver and click the botton...
This will enable or disable to save data or to restrict data on background of those apps that use data while they are not in use... thanks hope it will help you
Hi all,
I have tried searching Google, but can't find what this icon means, does anyone know? It's in the top right of my top bar.
I have the same settings as before, I think it appeared after an updates. I am running the Oreo beta.

Looks like a data saver icon to me. That's just a guess. Do you have data saver enabled?
Data saver is a 3/4 circle with a plus sign in it.
Background data is disabled.
I think new data saver icon for oreo
I got the same icon and after searching in setting found that if i ON data saving then it appears and if i OFF it then it disappeared so it indicate the data saving is on, its appearing after updating to oreo in S8 Plus
hi,
i have same icon and try to find the location to switch it off.
can somebody tell me where to do it?
i'm on S8 with Oreo CRAP.
thanks!

It's Data Saver
Go to settings... Go to connections... Go to Data Usage... Tap on Data Saver and turn it off. That's it.
Its data saver! I really miss the icon on the controls panel (notification panel) can you help me get it there with an app or something? I had it on LG g6 before, cant find it on the s8 (my phone isn't rooted)
Pull down to view icons
Hold down for a couple of seconds 'only' on the writing saying (mobile data) "not the icon itself!
Turn off data saver.
Triangle will go off.
However when you read about it like I did leaving it on is actualy useful.
Yes it's data saver even on an s9
This icon is because of data saver option when u enable it go to setting _ connection _ data usage _data saver just click data saver if u switch it ON the icon will appear
What I'd like to know is why some of us have a green Avatar while others have a yellow one
I googled "xda legend" and it came back with a forum for some device named legend.
Googled xda icon legend and it told me about chainfire retiring.
Gracious goodness!
Excellent
I keep getting these notification dots on latest MIUI Global 12.1.4 ROM (see image). Pulling down the status bar shows no apps. Why do I keep getting these notification dots when there's no app is sending notification?
My screen is also a bit dark in screenshots (see image). Anyone knows what's going on?

The dots are not part of the data status traffic?, Maybe it can't display completely because of your DPI. Try reducing the DPI and the letters size for seconds and see what's more is there.

Yeah they are not for data speed. Those dots are for when you have some notification. But I don't have any notification, and I still see those dots. I never touched DPI. Decreasing font size does nothing. I even removed battery icon to have some more space there

I still think that is the connection speed, the three dots are the values that precede the total amount of 1024 KBS/s.
To know if there is or not, disable the option in display settings.
And if it is not, you could try to investigate with an app like this or similar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.hcilab.projects.nlog&hl=es&gl=US
On the left are notifications, on the right are icons from system, so that's probably speed icon - too long format or too many icons, like gps, clock, battery, download, etc

Nah they're not. Check this gif.
Here's what I did:
1) initially there are no dots.
2) I sent a test notification from an app
3) once the notification appears, the dots appear too.
4) after I clear the notification, the dots disappear
But THAT is not my problem. My problem is that those dots sometimes appear when there's no notification. I have to restart for that to go away.
