ROM customization options - Google Pixel XL Guides, News, & Discussion

Post up any options you miss from old ROM's or Xposed that you wish were available in custom ROM's currently available to the Pixel XL but cannot yet find in any of the ROM's.
Maybe a dev will like your suggestion and port it to their Pixel XL ROM or maybe someone will tell you which ROM already has it.
Mine:
Ability to block individual app toast notifications
One-click power menu (no having to click 'reboot to recovery' and then click "okay")
Auto expanded volume sliders
Slim Recents
Please don't use this thread to disparage someones wish list.
Just because you think their wishlist contains an item you consider unnecessary (or stupid) doesn't mean someone else feels the same as you.

Boot to other slot
Built in suhide

Is the call recording no longer native anymore. Is that why it's no longer included in Roms. I liked that feature

This! If twrp can switch slots I'm sure it would be possible to build it into the reboot menu

You can block individual app notifications by long clicking on it and clicking off the auto setting and setting whatever level you want. If you are using stock based ROM you have to enable the option to do this through system tuner first by holding down the settings icon in the navigation drawer for 5 seconds or so.

Yep, doesn't work as well as you'd like though.
Some apps don't GAF which level 1-5 you give them and still want to be at the top even if you set say, Pandora to 3 and Notification Toggle to 5. Pandora wants the top.
And you can't dismiss some notifications, such as Car Mode notification at all from what I have found.

Soft keys fade please

I'd like translucent Navbar, or Invisible Navbar (not the icons Obv) also option for Pie control, I used to go thru phases of using it on S3 + M8.

Suhide
Amplify
3minit battery
Greenify for added xposed settings

Come on guys... if anyone can test the ROM i can finally move the thread to dev section and thank the dev. The guy has done a tremendous job supporting our device.

Mods/Tweaks Wish List

I love rooting my devices, but I try to keep them stock as long as possible when they are new because modding and tweaking start to become addictive. Now the bug has bitten me again and my device is rooted with more XPOSED modules than I can count. I've reached the point where I think I've found all the mods and tweaks that are available to me, so now I'd like to see if anyone else has a personal wish list of mods/tweaks they'd like to see for our devices. Here's my list (keep in mind, I'm running KitKat for the better battery performance):
View home screen and app drawer in landscape mode (yes - I know 3rd party launchers and Lollipop can do this, but I want it for stock KK launcher)
Truly separate navigation volume from media volume. Currently, Maps only lets you lower the navigation volume as compared to media, but sometimes, I want to turn the music down without also lowering the navigation voice.
I would like the notification pull-down menu to show quick settings automatically if no notifications are present. Gravity box has this tweak, but it doesn't seem to work.
If I was still running Lollipop, I'd want the ability to show the old power management graph. The new one uses too much screen real estate to show the useless portion of the graph (time remaining). We all would rather see more of the past history side of the graph that shows what has been draining the battery so we can stop it.
What's your wish list for mods/tweaks?
Double tap to wake that always works consistently in every situation... The earliest Firmware with which the phone was initially released had that. But since the first update it's hit or miss, when the phone was just laying around for some time.

Oh, and here's two more requests:
- The ability to take higher resolution panoramic photos (I think they're only 4mp by default)
- The ability to take horizontally scrolling panoramic photos while the phone is in the portrait orientation.

Moto x Pure Marshmallow Settings missing

I just received my new moto x pure and I quickly updated to the exciting new marshmallow update. My previous phone was the OnePlus one, so maybe I'm spoiled, but there seems to be a distinct lack of settings on this phone.
For instance:
Can't change haptic feedback (vibration intensity) for things
Can't change quick settings tiles
Can't make the quick settings menu drop down from the sides of the screen
Can't change what the home back and menu button does on long press or double press
I read the help that comes with the phone on the notifications settings issue, however what they say to do doesn't work
Maybe I'm spoiled coming from the OnePlus one, but these key features are a little silly to be left out.
Those aren't stock settings sorry.
The OPO used CM as it's OS, right? Those are mostly CM features and not stock features.

Rom features most important features to your needs

I am asking this as I am about to start my own rom project for nexus 6p
I am also open to rom bases
What are the most important Rom features to you?
What special features do you like?
What version of root do you prefer?
Do you prefer certain kernel features?
Professional flashaholic here, so here I go:
Must have:
Long press power button for torch
Double tap to sleep anywhere in lockscreen
Battery light (led)
Do not wake screen when plugging charger
Animation speed control (all possible values, not just 1x, 0.5x, etc...)
Status bar ticker
Playback control using volume rocker
Reorient volume buttons on screen rotation
Ambient display advanced customization (especially brightness)
Fingerprint authentication optional vibration
Status bar clock customization
Quick pulldown in quick settings
Fingerprint unlock after reboot
Really nice to have:
Pulse visualization (both in navbar and lockscreen)
Volume panel customization (especially timeout)
Quick unlock
Navigation bar settings (DUI)
Full substratum support (especially if using default teal AOSP color)
All the Pixel goodies (nav bar animations, sounds, wallpapers, launcher, etc)
Root: I say let the user decide, some people prefer SuperSU, some prefer Magisk.
I've used almost all of the Roms here in XDA and other places, and right now, Resurrection Remix is the one that has everything I want, which is not to say that the other roms are bad. In fact, I've enjoyed every single one of them, and I'm immensely grateful to all of the developers here. I usually donate to them when I'm especially happy with a rom. It's like having a new phone every two weeks or so.

Don't include any root! That way is easy for user to stay unrooted if they wish, or to easily flash supersu, magisk, or whatever else.
Redsmith pretty much covered all the bases on a good rom. I'm currently on nitrogen rom 7.1.1 and using substratum. So theming is important to me

I mean it would be cool to have viper arise . But I can always flash it afterwards. Can you make the ROM 7.1.2 based or can u make it the 8.0 Dev preview rooted?
Also pulse on the lockscreen like back in the cm days. Flashlight hold power button.. immersion status and nav bars

To base it on 7.1.2 the source code needs to be released. Since it's still in beta I highly doubt the source has been released yet. If you want 8.0 rooted, why not just install the preview and flash SuperSU?

I might as well actually answer your question in the OP while I'm here. Must have features for me:
- AOSP base
- Long press power for torch with screen off
- Adjustable screen time out settings for lift to wake gesture
- Ability to adjust nav bar height
- Double tap lock screen to sleep
- Volume rocker media control
- Custom quick settings rows/columns (ex: 4x4 layout rather than the stock 3x3)
Anything else is just a bonus but would still be appreciated. I think things that can be flashed like like root, Viper, etc should be left up to the user.

When I get a stable version I will.mesaage the guys interested in helping me. Test
As you can make a rom do you think you could possibly help me out with a mka bacon issue. How much ram do you use? As for features/apps I would say include adaway, wakeblock, supersu, viper4arise, substratum and oms support and camera nx and ex kernel manager and for features just copy Resurrection Remix.
I will pm you
I guess I'll throw my hat into the time, as I'm always down to test new ROMs!
Some must haves for me:
- Alarm/Wakelock Blocker
- Navbar dimension tuner
- Pixel icons / Color (I think it's a framework thing)
- Lock screen double tap to sleep
- Lock screen font change
If you need an additional tester I'd be down! Flashaholic, so I could give it a good run through. If somehow you were able to bake a lot of the features mentioned into 7.1.2 I'd download in a heartbeat and donate what I could. Easily

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
it is a fine and quick device. But after using a custom rom on my z3 compact, i am just missing a few things that i find essential.
1) missing the data traffic monitor 2)missing the option to switch recents and back buttons.
3) missing the 2 extra buttons on the navigation bar.
(yes, they are from gravity box in xposed module)
the standard file explorer is also very bad. it always goes to download map standard, when you want to move or copy a file.
and it has facebook, avg and amazon apps that you can't delete and facebook even has an facebook app manager app that doesn't show up and you need to disable it through the apps menu.

Well that is something new to me. Didn't know that system ui tuner was actually an option. Made the wrong assumption that you meant changing things through the normal menu's. System ui tuner only has options for do not disturb and status bar. No navigation bar . I do have to say that I just updated the software today to a version with the security patches from 1 April.

thanks for the answer, what a pity! so we will probably have to wait for root also to be able to re-arrange navbar buttons :crying: or maybe that is also possible via adb and someone comes out with a solution earlier? :fingers-crossed: what do you think master @serajr?

newbee, but love it
hello, all
i'm newbee in android phone
but i love this phone for basic (but importants) points
- good autonomie
- compact size
- good apn
- a full 5" screen in a small formfactor
So far I really like this device. It's my smallest device yet and I love it. Performance is great and battery life is outstanding. Low light performance with the stock camera app is my only gripe as it seems to add artifacts. Hoping gcam will be available before too long. Decent case selection especially when compared to the Essential.
