hey everyone, im a complete noob. I recently rooted my Samsung galaxy grand prime (Samsung-sm-g530a)at&t version with king root. in the midst of playing around I accidently changed my dpi setting from the stock 240 to 640 after reboot I am unable to see my entire screen. I cant swipe the screen to move around so now I cant hit prompts and such. I was using titanium backup and tried to restore my original settings but it didn't work. out of frustration I tried to factory wipe and reset my phone thinking that it would reset the dpi value. which turned out to be a major mistake because I erased the majority of my apps. now im stuck on the setup screen and I cant get threw it because I cant move the screen around to accept the prompts. so now I don't know what to do. any advice ? you basicly have to walk me threw this step by step because I have no idea what im doing.

Do you've any experience with Odin? I assume no. By factory resetting you would've lost all of your data on device so now I would advise you to flash your stock firmware through Odin. You probably won't have any knowledge on this as well.
You might also want to download this custom recovery but before flashing this, you need to tell which Android Version you were on so I can get you better.

same process. get adb, install drivers, find the proper resolution of the device, connect phone, issue new commands.
in your case, perhaps just using:
adb shell wm size reset
adb shell wm density reset
will be enough.

First the phone went from stock to Froyo via mini kies. It was also rooted.
I downloaded Root Tools (I think that is what is was called) to try out the screen density settings. I set it to 280 and the app rebooted then that was all she wrote.
So I can get the download screen to show and I can get to the recover menu but I can't figure out how to get back into the phone and get it to work again. I would guess that going into the build.prod and changing the number back to like 200 or something would work, but I don't know how to update the file in the phone. I have also tried to use adb but it can't find the phone. I may not be doing that 100% correctly either.
I (of course) would like to do this without wiping the phone. I am currently downloading the 4 files for fixing the soft brick. Now it does not mention if I will lose everything doing that or not.
Any help/guidance would be wonderful!
Thanks.

Well i dont think you can fix it without wiping all your settings, apps and stuff that are in the phone memory, all data on internal and external storage will be fine. You need to get in download mode and use odin to install stock rom, there are gudes look them up.
Firstly I am new to this and want to apologize for my english since it is not my first language, so please go easy on me
I recently did my first ever rooting on my new N10 16GB using CF-Auto-Root and did not flash custom recovery. It all went fine and worked great until last night when I tried changing fonts using Font Installer. After installing a font and rebooting, the device wouldn't boot past the X-Logo.
Restarting didn't work and after reading other threads I entered Recovery and did the Data Wipe/Factory Reset, but still get stuck at the X.
I tried the Clear Cache option and have done Data Wipe/Factory Reset several times, with and without USB plugged into computer, without any results.
Also, I don't think I enabled USB Debugging after rooting, if this makes any difference right now.
I really don't know where to go from here and as this is as far as my experience goes in these things and not wanting to mess up the device completely, I now turn to you for advice, hoping my dear tablet is not beyond rescue already.
Please please help me out!
SOLVED! I used this guide doing a stock recovery and it's working again!
Keeping this post if it may help someone else =)

Hi guys
I'm using samsung galaxy S5 (4.4.2) and recently upgraded to 5.0 using custom rom which I found here. It was working just great. I created 2 Nandroid using TWRP. One after a fresh installation another one after restoring my file contents from Helium and Titanium backup..
However something went wrong and i decided to restore my nandroid backup to revert back my changes. To my surprise both nandroid backup failed. I got a success message (using recovery mode) however when i reboot my phone im getting tons of messages like "System failed to start" "process failed to start" wait or press ok.
When I reflash the custom rom, it works fine, however i couldnt recover my system from nandroid backup.
I repeated several times but both nandroid gave me this same error. I even tried fixing permissions but no use. Then I used odin to flash a stock rom (BOA3) and rooted that using TWRP and most recent SU binaries. Its working great now, however I just wanted to know what is the best method to take a nandroid backup now? I'm afraid TWRP will bail out on me once again.
All the while I used CWM and it was great however 5.0 requires latest binaries and only can be rooted via TRWP recovery. Any suggestion? I just want to take a complete nandroid backup and save it in case if something goes wrong.
Thanks

I'm being plagued by this problem since I updated, flashing stock Lollipop using odin.
The problem first appeared after trying to restore my app+data using Titanium.
I went back to the beginning and flashed again but my phone is still unstable and I still occasionally get the '"System failed to start" "process failed to start" wait or press ok' issue that you have. A reboot generally sorts it out but the update has made my phone very unstable.
I also have big problems entering recovery and download modes using the buttons.
Cleaning my cache/davlik hasn't solved it either.
Hopefully someone can help us.
Anyone?

Yes. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Trouble in Galaxy town
Hi, I'll try make myself short.
1) Back when I had an Galaxy S2 i modded it a little bit but I haven't done it at all since then.
2) Now a few years later I got bored/sick of the stock ROM that comes with the S5 so I wanted to install something I knew had a good reputation, Cyanogenmod.
3) Getting a new recovery was an nightmare itself but eventually I got it working and made an backup so I could roll back if needed to.
4) Now, 24 hours of using CM12 I can only say one sentence: "What kind of crap is this?!" It's so unstable it's almost ridiculous. Bluetooth hangs up all the time thus requiring a reboot which leads to most-annoying-thing-ever-#2. The clock resets itself upon EVERY boot which makes WhatsApp go bananas. Doesn't matter if I previously set the time/date manually or let the phone do it automatically. Then there are the random hang ups that occur all the time and one third thing. Hardware acceleration in BS Player doesn't work AT ALL!
5) Said and done I reversed to the back up but oh man the phone wasn't happy about this (yes I made a wipe before recovering the backup). Nearly every basic service malfunctioned and were forcibly shut down. A factory reset made no difference...
6) For some reason I opened KIES and found out that an update with android lollipop was available so I (in a moment of despair) installed that hoping for salvation.
7) The phone boots properly and everything seems to be going wonderful until I realize that my network connection is high on something. Loses connectivity to my provider all the time thus the phone is totally useless.
8) I HAD to have a working phone for work and since no support is given on Sundays from Samsung I again installed CM12 just for the day.
Now to the good part!
9) When trying to recover the backup once again it's gone corrupt! Can't recover so now I'm stuck with buggy-as-h*ll-cyanogemmod12 with no means of reverting.
What-the-actual-****-do-I-do? Been trying to make some sense from the thread "Galaxy S 5 Original Android Development" but I feel so lost. So if someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful!
EDIT: What I want is to reverse back to original stock ROM. Screw the bloatware. I just need the phone stable and working!
EDIT2: After some more googeling I've figured out I need a stock ROM with the right CSC. I use a swedish carrier other than 'tre'. Shall I look for ROMs with CSC 'HTS' anyway? Can't find any info about other carriers in sweden.
EDIT3: Now I've found what I think is right on sammobile.com/firmwares/database/ (search query: 'g900f', first hit 'Sweden' CSC 'VDS'). Worried thou as it's Android Lollipop which made my phone go nuts. Can't find the KitKat version on that site...
EDIT4: Found the KitKat version on samsung-updates.com. The download speed is sooooooo slow (~6 hours)! Download limits should be illegal...
Thanks! //R
Note 4 5.0.1 Not factory resetting after CF- Auto Root
Hello Everyone,
This is the first time I have ever posted anything on any forum online. I have used XDA to get help while fiddling with my devices before so I would just like to thank all of those who share things on forums.
I have a Note 4 SM-N910c running Lollipop 5.0.1. A few days ago I used CF Auto Root Method to root my device. Needless to say, it worked perfectly. However, today I wanted to factory data reset my device just to remove all the files that I have in my phone. I should mention that I am not trying to 'unroot' my phone. Just reset it.
So I went to the settings and factory data reset my phone but this is where the problem began. After clicking 'Erase All' my phone turned off but then a small android animated figure appeared with the words 'Installing System Update' visible beneath it and then suddenly a red faced down android appeared with the words 'error' beneath it. Then my phone went into the stock recovery where I rebooted my system and my phone turned back on without resetting it.
So my question is that, what in the world just happened and how can I reset my phone? I should also mention that I have no custom recovery installed and I have no custom rom intalled. Can anyone please guide me thru this, I would very much appreciate it.
Thank you for your help.
Hello,
I'm new on this forum and rooting is all new to me. Please don't simply delete, at least indicate where I can find my answer.
So I found a CFA that's supposed to come with SuperSU and I flashed it with Odin. The first time, I could boot, but TouchWiz constantly displaying a bug pop-up without letting me access the tablet had me flash the stock firmware back. It was unusable.
I tried again and it worked but my Tab wouldn't boot. After several attempts, I cleared partition and did a factory reset. It seems like I can only boot as in a stock firmware. I had to redo basic questions/settings as if I opened the tablet for the first time, but it doesn't seem like I have access to delete bloatware apps or anything.
1) Did I cancel my CFA flash with the factory reset?
2) I still have stock firmware and do not care about datas or anything since it's an old tablet I don't really use. Is it better to do the factory reset, then try to flash back the CFA file?
3) Did I simply miss something when I flashed and got TouchWiz bugs?
Again, please consider the fact that I'm new and I'm just trying to learn here. I can understand If I have to post this in another category, but XDA seems to be the only place where I can finally get to root, delete unnecessary apps, play with a custom ROM, etc.
