My I9505 does not respond to touch after waking up from stand-by. My screen was damaged so I replaced it with an original Samsung deep-black screen. When the phone boots up and it first gets into android it works perfectly (touch is working), but when it goes to stand-by after the initial boot and it wakes up again, either by getting a phone call/Whatsapp/etc or by physically pressing the power- or homebutton, the touchscreen doesn't respond to anything. The phone itself works perfectly otherwise, responding to all hardware buttons and running as usual in the background (getting messages, notifications etc.).
The weird thing is: I have the spare S4 from my brother, when I put this new screen on that phone the touch keeps working, and when I put the (cracked but working) screen of that phone on mine it also works. So it seems like the combination of my mainboard with the new screen is somehow not working, but all parts separately work great.
I was initially running CM 11, today I installed CM 13, hoping the issue would be solved with newer software. This fixed nothing though.
I have worked at Teleplan for 3 years, fixing hundreds of I9505's, but I never encountered this before.
Currently the device is running with:
Clockworkmod recovery v6.0.4.7
Android 6.0.1 CM optimizedCM-13.0-20161224-Stable
Kernel: 3.4.113-B—B-PWR-Core-AOSP-v1.6
To be clear: While in recovery mode touch always works, when getting into CM after booting touch works. After the first stand-by touch completely stops working. The new screen itself works perfectly with another mainboard and my own mainboard works perfectly with another screen.
Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
Before doing the above:
1. Update your recovery
2. Try stock kernel.
There are a great deal of people that encountered other issues after updating the touch firmware.

This morning, my touch screen suddenly stopped working. Hardware keys are still working but device is not responding when the screen is touched. Already tried a hard reset but no success, now I am stuck at the align display screen. Also can no longer get to the bootmenu, so can't reflash my device! Any suggestions on what's wrong or how this can be fixed? Thanks for any help!!!!
I'm curious
Didn't you see any spots (like oil spots on the water) to the touch screen ?
I had the same problem .I replaced the touch screen and the phone is working again .
No, nothing, was working fine at night, when i woke up just randomly stopped working. The display is not cracked or anything, so wondering whether a screen replacement will do the trick? ALso strange that I can no longer get to the bootscreen to enter HardSPL...
Had the same problem, the issue (with mine anyhow) was the digitizer, which is an overlay that sits on top of the actual LCD screen to give it touch capability....
good post here

I had a similar problem,
To get past the Align screen I had to apply pressure to the top of the screen opposite side of front facing camera - then use the screen as normal
I reflashed the original rom (manually getting to bootloader) - it worked for a bit but ended up sending is back to 02 for repair.
All they did apparently, was to reflash the ROM again and its been working since.
Had the same problem a couple of times a while ago, when i was trying out WM6.5.
All buttons worked but not the touch screen. Never really found out exactly what the problem was, but the first time I managed to get it working again by resetting the alignment:
While gps button pressed (under green button), press center D-pad button this will bring you to alignment screen.
The other time the "alignment trick" didn't work, but i got it working again, after flashing the original ROM couple of times. (And doing hard reset between each time)
I think I used this ROM
You say you can't get to the boot menu, do you run hard-SPL?
most likely its an hardware issue - had this one too, of course out of nowhere!
flash with original rom and if you cannot align screen (as the hardware seems to be broken) send it in for repair. it will be under guarantee, if screen isnt broken.
I had similar problem, I passed the alignment but i had a huge offset in the touch.
I replaced the touch screen and it solved the problem.
You can find it in ebay for 1 US $.

Thanks for all the help guys!!! I do run hard-SPL and have flashed many ROMS - just don't know why it won't enter the bootscreen anymore when I reset the device and press the camera button. Did manage to upload original ROM again by using activesync, now trying to restore original hard-SPL so I can send off the device for repair.
Hi, i had also the same problem, i find a threat in the internet... try to push the upper corners on the device with your fingers and then tab on the screen to see if the problem solved.
I had the same issue.
Its more than likely your digitizer. I tried flashing 100 different roms but always stuck at the align screen stage.
I actually have the barely used digitizer if anyone wants it (for a few dollars of course hehe) My mainboard died a couple of weeks after i installed the digitizer.
needless to say i moved away from the ****ty build quality of HTC to the MUCH better build quality of the iPhone.
As the title says. I have problem with my touch screen. Sometimes the last third part of the screen don't react on touch.
Example if I have up the keyboard, the space-bar and the buttons around doesnt react.
Is it my phone who is bricked or is it my ROM who is the problem?
It started when I flashed Cronos 1.7 stable, and then I tried to flash Roufianos last ROM, but that didnt help. (full clean between)
(I have not tried to go back to stock rom yet)
(After a reboot everything works fine for some hours).
It is a common problem according to HTC. When the screen gets warmer, the problem gets worse. HTC will replace the screen under warranty!
The problem began randomly while using CM7 Barebone. Upon boot, the phone works as usual. However, it would stop responding to my touch when I would try to slide the unlock screen. I would have to turn the screen on and off a couple of times and finally it would respond again.
I assumed it was a ROM issue, so I switched over to Paranoid Android, however the problem is happening on this ROM as well. Initially, I assumed it was a hardware issue, but the phone works perfectly fine right after I boot it back up.
Does anyone have some idea as to what could possibly be happening? I'm worried that this will just get worse and I'll end up having to purchase a new phone.
Search for unresponsive screen, your issue is likely to do with the digitizer. When you Held down the power button to reboot the phone this temporarily fixed it (it's a known temporary fix). Install some sort of lock screen widget so that you don't have to use the end call button too much, and unlock using any of the other hardware buttons.
My LG Optimus 7 touchscreen stopped to response with no reason. Nothing was installed or damaged - one minute I called and after turn off and on it stopped to respond. Well - not really stopped but respond in strange way not allowing me to unlock (swipe) lock screen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOb54qugw-A
(I took this video after Factory Reset which did not help - that's why it's in German)
And even if I reboot it, no buttons tapping is working, nothing - only this strange unlock screen which moves really slowly and not allowing to unlock.
I ordered and replaced digitiser (dismounted all telephone myself) and this did not help at all.
But I realised yesterday that if I leave my LG with screen open for 2-3 minutes IT STARTS WORKING!! It reacts on touch as it was before! No idea why and how. Unfortunately it goes into unresponsive mode after turning screen off and on, and I have to wait again. So it's useless...
I tried to google and I found few other people experiencing the same issue with different telephones (or tablets). Does it mean it's hardware issue? Is there any point to downgrage ROM - at the moment it's 7.10.8862.144??

Hi.
Yesterday i've had a "random restart" with LOS 14.1 ROM. I had no bigger problems, but after the restart phone was only vibrating.
After some tries i've found that phone is booting and touch is working (i could select power off, restart options from power menu) but screen is just disabled. So i've restored stock rom through blind Odin and installed TWRP 3.1.1.
After dissasembly of EVERY module (even separating Display) it became alive for 3 or 4 tries, no problems or any artifacts at all while moving device modules- display was separated from device in 1 try and installed in next ones- I could flash new ROM and configure android. After the restart i could see only bootloader info and disabled screen while loading the ROM. Next try- no screen, next- everything works, but after locking the screen display didn't go On...
Dafoog is happening with my device? Any suggestions?
Ps. My screenglass is shattered for 4 months :cyclops:

Hello!
I don't know about a solution, but here's a tool/program which allow you to control a phone with broken screen: [Tool][Windows] Control a device with a broken screen. Now with touchscreen support!!.
I recommend you to buy other phone instead repairing J5. If you wanna buy a new one, then I would suggest Moto which comes with AOSP out of the box and great xda support. OnePlus is good too.
I have fixed the issue, but broke my display in 3 parts... I am from Central Europe- electronic DEVICES are pretty expensive- Screen costs 2/3 of the full j500f price
Goodbye Zonik, Goodbye J5 community ;(
