Greetings from Canada;
I was just wondering if there is any advantages to get the version with 6GB of memory
and as far as development concerns to get US or China version?
Thank you.

Depends on the cost difference. 4GB version is FAST. US and CN models can both use the same ROM.

Thanks for the reply.
The cost is about $50 more. But I'm more concern about
Chinese apps and stuff on the China version than anything else
since the LTE bands are almost the same on both units.

Almost the same doesn't quite cut it, buy the model that supports bands used by your operator. I've had few phones without b20 which is used here in Finland outside towns/cities, and it was really frustrating.
Hi, 4Gb ram is plenty you will almost never use that much ram. I got 64/6gb ram version most of the time 3-4Gb ram available (I use phone normal everyday chat, internet, etc no games).
They just make the 6Gb ram because the Oneplus got 6Gb, to satisfy some people I guess.
for 50$ i would get the 6gb model...and i own the 6/64 version
apps are going to consume more ram, have more running services, not to mention google app ( play services for example ).
it's better have always free ram than the OS that swap constantly to free up ram, it's cpu consuming and cause lags.
and the market is moving to 8gigs...lel
Thank you guys for all the replies. They all make sense.
I have the 4g Chinese model and it is fast, no problems so far.

I know that there are two version for HD2:T version and htc version. The T version's RAM and ROM is larger than the htc's.But I wonder why the T version's price is cheaper than the htc's.And some people told me that the T version is unstable and can't install some ROM.(By the way,I'm from China. If I buy the HD2,I need brushing machine.)
I'm hesitated for a long time:which version should I buy?
So,what's your guys' opinion?
The t-mobile version is cheaper because t-mobile lowers the price for starting a 2 year service contract. The import (I'm in the US) version is purchased without a contract and is therefore unsubsidized. From what I've gathered the two variations are nearly identical in performance, build quality etc.
Thanks! This is my first oversea thread and I'm so glad that you give me a reply!
I thought that the T-Mobile HD2 was the one sold in the US and the other HD2 is the one sold in the rest of the world. Correct me if I'm wrong but they are pretty much the same except slight size and memory changes.

The UK one is the same as everyone's except the T-Mobile US model.
The US T-Mobile HD2 has a similar spec to the rest of the world, except it has a larger on-board memory (1Gb I believe) and an 'unlocked' larger RAM.

Actually that is not entirely accurate , the TMOUS has a different radio, as do some of the EU models , for instance if you want to use one on AT&T 3G in the states, you need the telstra model from OZ, as it supports the WCDMA 850 band , the US(TMO) version only supports 1700/2100 WCDMA for 3G.
Most all will work on all Providers , using standard GSM/EDGE freqs but not on 3G.
EDIT:
It seems though AT&T is cracking down on NON-AT&T devices though ....

Thanks for the details maybe I should get my hands on a US one for a hands on check
Hello everyone
Here's what I know about the differences between the EU and US models of the HD2:
It's 1.5mm taller.
It's branded to AT&T.
It's got 1024MB ROM.
So what's stopping me from buying one and using it in the UK? Are there hardware limitations, like for example the baseband not working in my country?
I suppose if this device was any better than the EU version then we'd all be desperate to have one but i've never known of anyone who wanted one...
Views/thoughts/opinions welcome...
Dan
It's branded "T-Mobile" btw
It's 3g frequency operates on 1700 and 2100. Unless your carrier works on 1700 or 2100, you won't get 3g.
The reason as to why people want it, is that it has a lot of internal storage. Especially in android it is most appreciative for it eliminates the need for someone to partition their sd card to expand the amount of apps one can install to their phone.
Cheers, not much point then with A2SD.

If you by. a new one from T-Mobile it comes with a 16 GB SD card. Now. if you are going to by one from e-bay or criegslist just make sure the seller is not going to keep the 16GB SD card. you could probably find another SD card for fairly good price to if you search the web, but make sure it is a repuable site that you buy it from cause there is some sites out there selling bad and bogus ones.
Hi,
I've been using a TMOUS HD2 for nearly a year in the UK now and have had no problems at all.... To be honest, I find that the US model is great for flashing some of the newer DesireHD NAND roms, as they don't leave much space for apps on the euro version, and not all apps support a2sd.... if you get the chance, go for it,, i'm very happy!
Hi all,
I love the looks of the S3 but in the UK we have been given the short straw and they only come with 1Gb of RAM.
I want one with 2Gb of RAM and so I'm wondering if anyone knows which countries sell 2Gb models that are compatible with UK standards etc?
Thanks
Searching would help but Korea is the only quad 2 gig ram I know of and not sure of anything else but there is a thread on this topic
Edit us and Canada are 2 gig ram but dual core but assume carrier locked ?

The Korean version does indeed seem to "have it all".
I dont know enough about phone spectrums etc to know if it would be fully compatible with the UK networks?
Also, anyone have any idea where you could buy one from?
I do not think it will from what I'm reading
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Theoretically, the korean one would work here but only on wcdma 2100 band i think...
Its very questionable how much success you would have with it as i believe it is incompatible with all 2g networks in the uk.
What i would say though is that having used the 1gb uk model for a week and a half, i dont see there being any real benefit to having 2gb of ram. Even on the stock rom (which is massive and heavy going) with everything running and power useage i havent come close to anything more than 650mb ram used at once.
My advice would be that it probably isnt worth the hassle, risk of it not working, or expense importing a 2gb model at all.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I've had no issues with 1gig ram. The phone can show high ram usage but haven't ever notices it effect performance.
When running some big processes / apps the phone kills background tasks to free up ram. I know it does because when I back out and check ram usage it is usually much lower than normal.
On the S2 when I'd connect it to HDMI, after removing ram usage would be around 200. Much less than the usual 400-500.

you really dont need more than 1gb .. RAM is there to be used and functions and does its job better when you are using as much as the RAM as possible .... off topic them RAM cleaners should be taken off all markets
Does anyone have any official information on this Korean Quad Core 2GB? I remember the source being a rumor mill, and then they switched the rumor mill to saying parts of Korea would have both the S4 or Exynos. What's the truth?
Korean Rumor
It is unlikely the korean market has the quad core with 2gb ram.
The only distinction right now between 1gb and 2gb has to do with the CPU.
If you look at the ifixit teardown of the phone (can't post links yet sorry), you can see that the RAM is directly incorporated on the board with the CPU. Does that mean it's possible for them to do a separate production line and get a Exynos 4412 (quad core) with 2GB of ram? Absolutely. Does it make sense from a business standpoint? Not at all. If they did run a completely separate manufacturing process on the boards for a quad core with 2gb of ram, it would be silly due to the return on investment to only release it in one market.
So if you see a GS3 with 2GB of ram, it mostlikely has the snapdragon dual core chip, not a quad core. As it's been stated earlier, the most probably culprit to the rumor is that Koreans would have the possibility of getting either model in their market (which you can in the US as well, if you don't buy it directly from the carriers).
Reason why the us versions even has 2 gigs is the processor. Snapdragon with lte requires more ram in normal use and in a situation where 1 gig isn't enough they have to bump it to 2 as phone only has one memory moudule and memory sizes goes 512Mb 1gb 2gb 4gb and so on..

You should catch up on news before posting something like this. Samsung has confirmed that the korean market will soon be getting a sgs3 with quadcore exynos, 2GB of RAM and LTE (and a part number of SHV-E210S.) One of the points of the release was to explain that the LTE modem would be a seperate chip and that this variant of the phone would be slightly thicker (by 1/2mm) than the other sgs3's.
Take care
Gary
Yeah, thats the exact details I read and from the full paged details it seems like it is going to support nearly all networks out there:

Whats the obsession with RAM? We don't need any more. The Korean exynos is pointless IMHO.
RAM is used to keep system and user files or applications and services that are regularly used close at hand for quick access.
Unused RAM is useless RAM. with 2GB to be used effectively, it's going to have to be caching apps you haven't used since last Thursday. What's the point in that? I sincerely doubt the device with 2gb will feel faster as a result.
Increasing RAM doesn't increase speed. In decreases slow down ... in systems that don't have enough. Yet we do..

Future proofing I suppose. After the phone stops receiving updates, it would still be possible to put some of the latest software on it that will be more resource-demanding via third party developers. The duel core Krait and the quad core Exynos really don't show any difference in real world usage. Those that it does can be quite negligible.

Hello everyone
I have a question about lte band of Chinese version
On Huawei website, we can see that the mate 7 support FDD LTE band 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28. Todays, we can find the Chinese version for sell "limited" to bands 1,3,7.
But what I don't understand if the Chinese version got all band if you use it in another country or does it need a firmware mod to activate the other bands?
I need band 3,7 and 20... Can I buy a Chinese one or not? (2gig/16 would be good)
Thanks
This has been answer in our Q&A thread. Please take a look at recent discussion on this topic.

Forum member from Switzerland has reported that the Chinese TL10 works flawlessly and we will hear more news from EU user next week.:fingers-crossed:
And we highly recommend 3 GB RAM, or the premium version. You will notice significant difference when opening multiple APPS.
We will post a root instruction for xda community early next week so that it will be a more fun machine to have.

Hello!
I just came back from a trip to China. Bought my Mate 7 in Shanghai. Its the MT7-UL00 Version.
At the shop they told me it should work in Switzerland. They even installed the Play Store for me (good service).
At the Stop Over in Dubai I had no LTE. So I was a little worried. Now in Switzerland it looks like I have same LTE coverage like I had bevor with my LG G3.
Hope this helps you.

I just got af Gold Mate 7 (3 bg/32 rom) from China - MT7-TL10.
Its a Chinese version, with Chines text i a few palces (even i chosed Denmark for language) but its also without google or anything - and im living in Europe.
So my question is, how do I get the international version af the software on this phone so I can use it like a normal phone here in Europe?
I would be really thankfull for any help and guidance regarding this issue.
Thank you!
Yep i dreaming of my futur AM7 but for no problem at all like the guaranty, i prefer wait till the european version launch officially. i'm so disappointed the gold version will not sold in europe, oh well the grey/black model will be fine too ^^
the official launch in france will be soon around 12 of november.

It's amazon so warranty usually good if you buy from them. 3gb ram 2gb of ram wont matter much with the Chipset they are using. Feel confident that 2gb will be enough after all the video tests I have seen on YouTube. The 3gb is only the Chinese model which I would not purchase. Get the European model much safer bet.

No. There is no way to unlock the SIM and flashing TL10 ROM will not work either. In addition, CL00 uses an additional chip for CDMA2000, which consumes more batteries (only 2/3 of battery life vs. other versions, stated by HUAWEI's website). If you consider TL10, we have Gold color version in stock.
We cannot help you on this version any more.

Ouch! Why will there be a difference?
"China to Get High-End Version of Galaxy S8+ with 6GB RAM & 128GB ROM"
Could it be that the market has more competitive Phone choices?
I was looking for the 128Gb version because I kept seeing it would be released and the only version Tmobile is releasing is the 64Gb version. Seemed odd.
I think its retarded too, they should of just sold one model (6GB RAM/128GB) worldwide. When I had a Mate 9, I had to buy the CHN version for 6/128 compared to the normal 4/64. I might have to do it again if the CHN version supports all of TMO LTE bands. One thing I've experienced with CHN vs US phones is I get better reception with the US version even though the CHN supports all of TMO bands.
It's costs, it's probably cheaper over there, the price increase for 6gb/128gb in the UK would make the S8+ nearly 1000 quid!!!!!
Don't know what's going on... I'm in China and will hopefully grab one once they are up for sale... Worries me that there are no pre orders yet. Also... Needs to have an exact HK variant. If they aren't the same model as the HK variant, then I won't be able to exchange firmware, and then there is no way I will put myself through the torture of a phone without Google.NO WAY! I guess I'd wait until summer to pick up the 4gb version in my home country... Probably the metaphorical smoke will have cleared by then and things will have calmed down a bit to see what battery life is like. Worried I'll purchase another battery lemon like what happened to my 6p... Man, that battery died in a year and a bit.

Chinese model = no warranty so thats a deal breaker for me
6GB vs 4GB RAM you probably wont notice the difference in real world use
You can buy a 128GB SD card for much less than the difference in RRP between world and chinese models
Finally will the chinese model support the LTE bands required for your region and carrier?
Too many unknowns for me
it my have a global modem that supports all bands (bar cdma in the sd 835). agree, you wont notice much of a difference between 4/6 gb...
Will 6gb affect battery life in a negative way? I still doubt this will happen, but nonetheless, don't mind investigating thoughts on this matter.
Things to remember if you get the CHN version is no warranty, stuck on CHN ROM unless you root and install a different ROM and possible no wifi calling if your US carrier supports it.

I agree that being stuck on CHN firmware is a horror show if you are not a Mandarin/Chinese language user.
From another perspective, so long as there is a HK firmware for SAME model number, you should be able to change firmware to HK firmware from CHN Firmware using ODIN. Pretty simple process. I have managed to do this on several Samsung phones no worries. Only with the C7 (2016) did I recently come across some weirdness that was solved by an XDA member who prescribed a relatively painless ordering of ODIN processes.
However, Samsung used to have weird China only models that did not have a HK firmware variant... which completely sucked - My Note 4, SN-9108v was a horrible experience due to this firmware and model isolation practice. Also, there are some phones that are only sold in China and only come again with Chinese Firmware (possibly the C9 pro (2017) is an example - can't remember). If Samsung have chosen the same isolationist Chinese model practice for s8, then avoid it like the plague... You'll be buying into a joyless and expensive sans google experience that will only be tolerable with decent Mandarin skills to enjoy the plethora of Chinese app store equivalents to google.
At this stage, I cannot find any reliable links to Chinese and HK model numbers. Perhaps a Chinese based Mandarin XDA user can clarify. I am very interested in preordering this mythical Chinese s8+, but I am not in the industry and am a little time poor in terms of being able to research this. There certainly seems to be very little reputable information (in English) or easily found reputable information (via translate) that details exactly when or how pre-orders in China or HK will operate. Just unsubstantiated re-reported links and news stories about the 6Gb variant and blah blah blah.
Would be really great to hear from someone legitimately more informed than me in this matter.
Cheers!

That is because China has many local brands provide adequate device with only one third price. If you can maximum your specks. You will fail there!
Nope. I'm off the Sammy train. Thinking Xperia xz premium
Read an article that says Samsung is mulling over bringing the 6Gb to the US and other markets besides China / Korea. If this happens I would like to know who made the original not to release in other markets so I can kick then in the nuts.
I don't care if it is 4GB or 6. Just so long as it is NOT Snapdragon. Speed tests seem to already be confirming that the typical $#!++y ram management is still present in the Snapdragon S8 and S8+ phones. Also; If I were to buy the Snapdragon model, I would not be able to activate mobile hot spot on Cricket. You can with International phones (Exynos).
