Updating Yotaphone 2 YD201 ME Build - YotaPhone

Dear all, I'm new here and just got my yotaphone 2 today, bought it locally from UAE, i beleive that the build ME refers to Middle East, got an android version of 4.4.3 YD201 model.
I thought that YD201 models are OTA updatable versions but seems not
Please can you guide me in a simple way how to update to lollipop? Noting that I've never flashed or done this before
Thank you so much..

You can follow this guide fully but you don't need to flash HK first, so you just flash RU 5.0.0 firmware directly.

Thank you so much.. Totally appreciate that.. But I don't know if it really matters as the tools relates to YD206 while I have YD201.. Should I proceed ?

By the tools do you mean YotaphoneFlasher? It works on both 201 and 206 since it's from official.

Thank you again.. OK I'm all set everything is ready but the only thing that's keeping me is drivers installation... Somehow the Google drive coming with the flasher is not being installed. I tried all ways possible, I.e. right click on the INF file and install but I get error message, and also tried to install it from device manager but couldn't. Can you please help with this? Thanks again
Btw I'm using Windows 7

Would you mind to post the srceenshot so I know your problem?

my dear friend, i managed to update the driver, thanks to you, but it seems that when i power off the phone and enter the "downloading " mode on the phone screen then connect it to the computer it seems the phone is not being connected.. i used the flasher chosed option 1 "flash the cellphone" then i get the message "waiting for device" on the flasher..
i had a screenshot just to show that i have done everything i should (i guess) .. i.e. copied the firmware.. etc,,,
mindyou, i think the problem is that when i conncet the phone to usb it goes under other devices/Android which is not being recognized..
you are the best and thank you for your help again and again!

Weird. Do you've already install both drivers and restart your computer?
If yes, how about try to plug another usb port?

I got both ADB and Qualm drivers installed.. but nothing happening! I tried the 3 usb ports already..
I don't know how to solve this.. I think I need to try it on another computer .. maybe it'll work out!

Your driver not properly install. Try reboot pc, enable usb debugging at phone, plug in usb. See if there is any changes at device manager.
There is yellow triangle. So it mean.. Oh.. Oo..
If stilk not ok. Plug out usb from pc. At device manager, unsinstall both yellow triangle. Plug in back usb. So it will detect device and windows trying to install it.

If you have Windows 10 you have to disable signature driver verification, entering in the advanced boot menu of windows. After that the .inf driver will install.

I got the update at last and it's working beautifully smooth I downloaded universal driver from adbdriver.com and it worked perfectly. Thank you all guys for your help and efforts

"USB not recognised", Odin download mode problem

Hey. Im brand new to this forum and to Android aswell since i came from Iphone. Yea im a noob and sorry if you notice bad english
So i received my SGS2 some days ago and after researching about root/custom roms and stuff, I decided to start with rootin my SGS2. i download Odin3 1.85 and superoneclick, i also liked litening rom v1.1 and downloaded that too.
So i turn on "USB debugging" and turn off the phone to enter "download mode" and when i try to connect to Odin, nothing shows up. And Windows bar tells me that usb is not recognised. But... flash drive/transferring files and connecting to Kies works just fine. Please help me, ive been sitting over 24 hours with this issue and ive restarted/uninstalled installed pretty much everything over and over again (kies/drivers/device) not windows though. Why wont Windows/odin recognise it in download mode???
And if possible, is there a way around to install litening rom??
Thats weird man....very very unlikely to happen...
Just tell us step by step with screen shots if possible then it becomes very easy for us to find where u r doing it wrong...ok ?
Turn off USB debugging .
reboot phone and PC .
jje
While being in download mode on the phone, the pc/odin is not recognising anything
but everything works fine and recognises when i transfer files or use Kies
/tried uploading screenshots but the forum wudnt allow it since im a noob lol)

Thanks for reply but ive done that several times now

This is driver issue.Try to find on kies an option to install the drivers again(i am not in front of my pc).Of course phone on and untick usb debugging

This is a driver problem. The Gadget Driver fails to get installed properly.
Make sure Windows Update are set to automatically find drivers for your devices.
I myself faced this problem. To rectify it I'd to try the same thing on a different machine and it worked flawlessly there.
The problem you're facing is that the Service Mode drivers are not getting installed, hence Odin is unable to recognize it.
Other possible fixes include, trying on different USB Ports, downloading Samsung PC Studio.
Thx for the replies everyone. Yea i figured its a driver issue, ill try the suggested actions incl samsung pc studio installing, and if its still not working i guess my last resort is using another pc or reinstalling windows on my own pc
In kies, i think in the tools menu, there is a install drivers option. This will fix the problem im sure. Not sure about pc studio having the same.

fyi, i reinstalled windows and updated everything and the driver connection issue is solved now. I should have done this from the beginning instead of freaking out for several midnight hours lol thx for the help everyone, hopefully the rooting and flashing process should happen painless now
if anyone has this problem too,
i had the same problem and for me closing kies helped.

HELP! ADB -USB Not Recognized

Hi folks,
I really hope someone can help me here. My TF300T is currently rooted and unlocked with the lates CM 10 (4.2.2) build. I am having some issues with reboots since upgrading to 4.2.2 and I would like to change the ROM. I am also trying to flash the upgraded TWRP recovery but unfortunately I am unable to do this. When I boot the TF300 into the menu where you have to select the USB icon normally this would load the ADB driver but my PC comes up as 'USB device not recognized'. I've tried this from two different PCs' with the same outcome. I won't be able to flash recovery or ROM unless I get this sorted. I should note that when I connect the TF300 while it is booted the PC recognizes it no problem. It also works in USB debugging mode so I'm very confused as to why it won't work from the boot menu. I've tried manually installing the drivers, installing Asus PC Sync and also re-installing SDK tools; all to no avail. Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

When you get the USB device not recognized, go into device manager locate the device on the list right click and then click on update driver. When it asks you selecte that you want to find the driver files on the computer, then select the option to look at the list of drivers. Once in the list there should be a driver for ADB try installing it and see if it works. That's how I got my adb to work while on recovery.

Thanks but that still didn't work for me. What exact driver did you use? Thanks!
Don't remember the name exactly, but from what I can see right now on device manager these are the details on the driver:
ASUS Android ADB Interface
Driver Provider: ASUSTek Computer INC.
Driver Date: 7/17/2012
Driver Version: 4.0.0.5
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
Also, have you tried removing all previous ASUS drivers and trying to install them again?

I haven't had the opportunity to try it again just yet. I plan to do this tomorrow night on my nightshift in work. I'll let you know then. Thanks for asking
Tried tonight again and still no luck. I know the driver installed on this machine definitely works because its the same one that worked last week when I tried it. Oddly, the ADB driver picks up ok when I'm in the OS with debugging on but I don't think i would be able to flash whilst logged on to the OS. This is concerning because the CM10 ROM 4.2.2 which I have installed a the moment is firing up random reboots. I know it's still in experimental stage and I'm not complaining but it would be nice to change my ROM when needed. Below is a couple of screenshots of the problem I am having.
I had a similar problem my adb worked flawlessly when the OS was running, but it wouldn't get recognized when in recovery (fastboot worked too). So, what I wrote earlier solve my problem. Sucks it didn't work for you. Anyways do you have a recovery installed? If you do why can't you use that one? Also, I'm pretty sure you can install recovery when the OS is running, even from android terminal emulator in the pad.

Thanks again. I did do a backup thankfully and currently it is restoring. I will try to see after restoring the backup if it works. Another method I have found to repair the bootloader is the NVFLASH method, although this does scare me a little! I would be very interested in trying those drivers you have as mine are older but so far I have been unable to find anything newer, despite extensive searching. :crying:
Thanks for your help thus far! :good:
Looks like I'm finally getting somewhere. I decided that I would try connecting directly to the TF300 instead of through the keyboard dock and oddly this worked. The driver is now loading correctly and I am able to flash again! Now to choose a JB ROM... :good:

I see the problems are in Windows 7. The USB Conector seems ok. Untick "usb debugging" in ur phone and take a look this page. If dont appears nothing in the device manager, tell me it and i will give ya other solution
EDIT: Other option is:
- Uninstall completely Kies and Kies 3
- Reboot ur pc
- Download the latest version of Kies 3 (drivers are included, only tc what u select in the installation -> dont untick them)
- Conect ur phone to the pc with the USB conector and wait coz the drivers have to be installed. Till Windows dont finish of install them u dont need touch nothing. Good luck
I'm suprised that three peoples trying to help me, thats charming, thank you.
But...
Repulsa I've done what u wrote, I tried plugging s4 to another usb port, one port usb 2.0 and another usb 3.0, always was the same situation, the charging start coming but nothing more, there is no notification on phone screeon or on the pc. Also I tried do this in second pc, in 3 usb ports, but always was the same. After that I tried that what Repulsa and jaswinsky says, i re-install kies. First I uninstall in both pc kies, and i install the kies 3, I reboot my pc and I reboot my s4. Nothing new happens, only charging. Here i want to turn your attention that, I checked in both pc's my younger brothers Galaxy s2, and it havent any problems with connecting! If I plugging Galaxy s2 in this usb ports in both pc, windows 7 havent any problem to recognize phone! Kies and "My Computer" shows the device memory and its working. When I after that disconect s2 and plug in my s4 the same situation happens. Only charging icon, and nothing appears about connection.
After that i tried that what Joku1981 wrote, I untisck "usb debugging" in developer options and i checked the device manager, but there doesnt appears anything. There is not "other device" warning or anything like that. Charging icon appears but pc dont recognizing s4. I would also like to point out that, yesterday I've done with younger brother the format on one of this pc's with hope that will helps but, we format pc, reinstall windows7, reinstall all drivers, and the situation is still the same.
Please help me!
PS. I'm starting think about that the official OTA update do 4.4 will solve the issue..

[Q] USB device not recognized

I've flashed my i9505 many times. I can't remember exactly what I've done, but now the situation is very weird.
1. I can go into Download mode. But Odin doesn't recognise it. Kies doesn't recognise it either. The error message on the bottom right corner of the screen says "USB device not recognized. Your usb device has malfunctioned." I've tried re-install the USB driver, use the original USB cable, even tried it on another PC with no luck. I suspect the very low level USB driver in the phone has corrupted because possibly I flash something wrong in the past.
2. I can go into Recovery mode and flash new ROMs in zip format from there.
3. I can use my phone normally, e.g. make phone call, SMS, WiFi......My computer can recognize my phone as usual when I am in Android.
Any thoughts? Helps are appreciated.
Hello,
Uninstall any previous installed of Samsung USB drivers, clean your Windows registry through CCleaner (not needed but highly suggested) then download and install latest Samsung USB drivers
Now download mode will be recognized on PC
Inviato dal mio GT-I9505
There is an easier way. If you are using windows, go into control panel-> Devices-> Right Click on your phone-> there should be a Driver Details-> Go details I think it is-> Uninstall driver-> Have the box ticked-> Uninstall-> Unplug then replug the cable in and it should work.

I've tried to re-install the driver. I even tried to connect the phone to another PC where the driver had never been installed before. Nope.... it doesn't work. Actually, I've searched around in Google for long time. The most likely reason is the usb piece of Android code is corrupted. Well, maybe not android, it should be the lower layer of Linux. I previously installed dual boot system follow this link and I screw it up when I tried to upgrade the primary OS:

You said that in Android USB connection works.
The download mode depends on bootloader, that can't be touched in any way by Android, even you can't touch the bootloader.
It's also write-protected, you can only upgrade it through Odin or through an official OTA update, when flashed you can't downgrade and can't write on its partition if not through JTAG
