Long story short, I have an unlocked, rooted, att s7 edge that I'm trying to activate on Verizon and isn't going through.
Is it possible that the root or stock att rom is preventing the phone from activating on the network?
Tinkering in the APN settings I've gotten the mobile data to work properly with the sim in but can't activate the phone at all.
Any help is appreciated!

I paid to get a T-mobile galaxy s5 sim unlocked so that I could use it on At&t. I'm located in the US. I took the sim out of another non-functioning at&t galaxy s5 and put it in the t-mobile one. The sim unlock code was successful, and ever since then my calls and texts have been working just fine. However, the mobile data connection is not working and I cannot seem to ascertain why this may be. I have tried scanning for networks and automatic network selection through the settings --> more networks --> Network operators menu. Mobile data is enabled. I have a data plan through at&t. Wi-fi still works. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was hoping that rooting the phone may help the issue, but I am new to this concept. As I have gathered, only certain models of s5 can be rooted as of yet, and I did not find a thread on rooting the G900T model for the s5's. Thanks for any help!
I think you must set the APN from Setting. Ask the AT&T providet for the APN.
hello I would really appreciate some help. I have scoured the interweb.....looked everywhere been to tmobile twice. called Verizon. called tmobile. im lost. I have tmobile sim...Verizon note 3 with a good esn checke 10 times 990004445758596.....bottom line is I cant get anything no signal bars my sim is good. things I have tried.
sim is good in friends phone.....friends sim dosnt work either.
I was using a note 2 from Verizon last week
I have tried multiple apn settings
I have tried gsm and global
I have reset the phone twice
I have tried towel root and chain fire unlock
I have tried calling the phone from friends phone
if I try to make a call no mobile network is found
under status on the phone my cell number shows up so it must be reading that off the sim
tried searching for network and att and tmobile do pop up under gsm tried connecting to both nothing. try again later
been to tmobile twice they no nothing more than I do.
called Verizon imei is good phone should be unlocked as are all of our 4glte phones are I was told.
also the prompt codes to bring up the menu for channel 4 I cant get any of them to work not any of them.
any help would be greatly appreciated I am currently out of work and need this phone going to survive basically. thank you in advance for any help or any of your time would be greatly appreciated.
You'd need to have it rooted and then make sure the APNs actually stick.
ok would towel root be good enough and shouldn't I get some signal bars for calls now?
not sure how I move my thread to another topic
Yeah Towel Root would work.
It shouldn't even need root for the unlock as Verizon note 3 are unlocked from factory.
All it needs is to be switched to gsm. Once it gets the carrier signal, switch back to global to get LTE. There must be another fault on your phone. Try to undo the region unlock...
Hey S4ers,
So I recently gave my friend my S4 (i337) restored to NB1. She does not have an active data plan, but I figured since I'm giving her the phone, it wouldn't matter too much.
She used to have an unlocked T-Mobile Phone working on AT&T, just running it on the EDGE network.
Anyway long story short, she cannot receive MMS anymore after using this phone. The phone has signal, but does not display E, 2G, 3G, 4G, or LTE. Just the signal bars. So I ordered an unlock code and received it, thinking that if I unlock the SIM that she could get this functionality. I tried the #0111*CODE# method in the dialer and receive an incorrect MMI message. Are there any other methods to unlocking the phone with the code that I have? No root would be ideal, because she has everything all set up on it, but I am open to any suggestions, really. I was wondering if I am going down the correct path in enabling MMS, by unlocking the phone like her old one used to be, or if AT&T needs to be contacted.
FYI, when we set up the phone, we called AT&T to register the new SIM, and provided the IMEI number, is it possible that they turned off any functionality because it was a smart phone without a data plan?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

What carrier SIM is being used in it? Also check your APN settings.
She is on AT&T and the APN is good. We had to get a new micro sim
I was wondering if there is a way to get VoLTE working on a factory unlocked S8 that is using a AT&T Straight Talk SIM card. Right now when I make a call, the data goes to 'H'.
Anybody?
I'm not sure if it's possible but have you tried carrier switch your unlocked S8 to AT&T firmware. That's the only way I could get it to work on my unlocked S8 but I do have AT&T though as a carrier
How did you get it to work on att? I am on att as well and it does not appear to be working after carrier switching my unlocked S8 to att branded also wi-fi calling does not work.

It worked for me the first time but then the second time I went back to the Oreo beta they went back to AT&T I was only getting H after that when I was calling so I had to borrow my wife's phone IMEI and they provisioned it and it worked again
so how exactly do i go about doing that? I assume this involves calling att or going into a store and giving them the imei from another phone? Does the imei you use have to NOT be already used or can it be in use by 2 phones at the same time? Also so far we have not even told att about this phone we have just moved the sim card so wouldn't they still have the imei of the old phone or do they pull that automatically OTA? If they do pull it automatically then whats preventing it from getting updated again?
I know this is a long shot as far as getting an answer but I'll try to be as accurate as possible.
Have a sprint s7 running nougat. Had the hotspot working via this method.
Anyway I recently had it sim unlocked and switched to cricket. Hotspot still works fine. No data toggle required. But I'd like to reset the carrier branding and get rid of the sprint bloat and options including the annoying hands free activation via the ##brand# command in the dialer. My question is, will that change the way the hotspot checks for authorization and end up breaking it? Or will it continue to function? I'm terrified of losing my hotspot since I can't root in an effort to fix it.

I have my non-rooted s7 with working hotspot on Tello (Sprint MNVO) without usb/adb tricks.
After ##brand# command phone will reset to remove sprint bloatware. When I insert Tello or Sprint sim, phone reboots and all bloatware comes back.
To keep bloatware away, follow the steps below:
1. Remove any sim card and do ##brand# to reset the phone.
2. After reboot without sim card use Package Disabler Pro to disable three items: 1)Mobile ID (com.sprint.w.installer) 2) com.samsung.syncmlphoneif 3) com.samsung.syncservice
3. Reboot the phone and insert your sim card.
With these steps my phone is working well on sprint network without Sprint bloatware and hotspot works as well.
I don't have to disable those apps as I now use a cricket sim and they'll be gone after the carrier reset anyway. My concern is that right now the hotspot is checking my subscription via the "sprint" way. I need to know if after the reset, will it do it the "cricket" way and break my hotspot? And does the mod I linked above have any affect here?

AT&T or T-Mobile MNVO sim card does not trigger sprint configuration/bloatware after ##brand# reset, so there will be no restriction for hotspot. Hotspot on my phone does not perform any service check from sprint.
My sprint hotspot work fine but do you know why it connection maximum is 1 device only. Anyway to fix this?
