TWRP - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I am on Tilde's ROM for the VS995 and have it set up Beautifully. However, I love all things AOSP and see that Lineage is being built for us as well. I'd like to try this out but for some reason, I have apprehension about the way our devices are unlocked and making huge modifications.
Can someone just confirm for me that TWRP backup/restore works properly? Thanks in advance!

Yes. TWRP works correctly.

Custom Roms that work on the Canadian model

I am having issues with installing custom roms on my phone.. Which roms are you Canadians able to install without much issue ? Thanks
So I was able to install GF version 8 and but then I wasn't able to use WIfi.. I went back to reinstall and during the setup and selected the canadian version but this lead to the phone not booting up after installation.. This phone is the most problematic to use so far in my experience with custom roms.
Gold finger works and I find it awesome and fast
Goldeneye works very well latest version is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313469

lineage and our 935t devices?

I have been doing some research on this phone lately and was wondering if lineage is possible on this phone as it soon will become my backup phone.
From everything I read, it looks like a custom recovery is not possible with this model.
And it looks like from the official lineage site that a custom recovery is required to install it.
Does that mean there is no way to use lineage as a custom rom on this phone? I am assuming so at this point. Any input you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
You are correct in that there is currently no way to use custom ROMs on this device as there is no method to unlock the bootloader as of yet (if ever) [emoji22]

Is it true that samsung made it impossible to root an S8+ with the latest updates?

I seem to remember reading something some weeks ago that Samsung did something in their latest few updates for the S8+ that made it impossible to root them... is that true?
I'm running a SM-G955F - DTM here... and I'd rather keep it rooted. I'm using magisk to root my devices.
Any insights for me?
AFAIK, as long as if you have twrp installed, you can update to whatever you want.
you then can:
make a full backup with TWRP, and Samsung can't do anything against you just restoring the full backup (with the old update and root)
just flash whatever (custom)ROM you want.
You already are rooted, so OTAs aren't a thing for you. I don't know if there even exists a twrp flashable stock ROM, but why don't you just switch to a custom rom (with the newest updates installed)?
Honestly, the only custom rom i know of is lineage (nee cyanogenmod), and at least on my old S5 I found that the fingerprint reader does not work on cyanogenmod. also, anything that checks safetynet does not work either.

LieangeOS isn't even available for our device (infact it is, but unusable).
The custom roms available right now are all stock touchwiz roms with slight modifications (most of them aren't even necessary, thx to aroma).
Look over to a thread like the one from Renovate ICE, most of the time roms like these are based on the newest sources from Samsung with the newest security patch level. It has root (Magisk or SuperSu) included and also passes safetyNet.
As I said in the post above, you always can make a full twrp Backup, try a ROM like Renovate Ice and if you don't like it, just go back to your stock ROM in minutes. :fingers-crossed:

galaxy note 4 with twrp 3.0.2-0, how to go to latest stock rooted?

i have a verizon galaxy note 4 i haven't used in ages that i need to start using again and i wanted to go to stock rooted and clean up some bloat. what is a good way to do this?
thanks!
some more details
The phone is currently running EmotionOS 7.1.1 and 2CPL1
i decided to stay with custom roms:
upped to twrp 3.2.1, wiped memory, odin to CQL1, twrp installed RR and open gapps.
anyone know a rom that has working miracast to windows 10 or any OS?
I have been test LOS 14.1 and it works okay but a little unstable. Seems like the best I can get on this phone will be as close to stock as possible. I had it working well enough but I wanted to root the device.
So I would like to know what combination of bootloader and firmware/Rom will give me
unlocked bootloader
Twrp
Stock MM
Root
Best cell performance
Thanks in advance

Which is the most stable debloated rom that passes safetynet?

I've just replaced the screen on my 9t and I thought that I may as well start from a fresh install/firmware (whilst I'm still using my backup phone).
However the choice of Roms is overwhelming!
Every Rom thread seems to tell you what's working but not what isn't! ("You tell me" seems to be the way for a Dev to say that stuff doesn't work... )
I just need a clean debloated (that isn't MIUI) Rom that passes safetynet. I don't even need root.
Everything needs to work and and be reasonably up to date.
I would ordinarily use Lineage, but I'm not sure if they fully working.
Can someone please recommend a Rom that fits my criteria?
Thanks
