Hi people,
I have a Motorola Defy plus (MB526) lying around. Because it is such a nice phone, I'd like to use it as second/backup/emergency device, but my last attempts to install a not-completely-outdated OS failed miserabely.
Now, the phone is in the following state:
- Power button does nothing, vol down + power also nothing.
- When plugged in, white LED is on, but battery apparently does not charge.
- Vol up + power gets me into a bootloader screen, but I have a "battery low" error message.
- By destroying a USB cable I was able to manually connect 5V to the battery when inside the phone, so I now get: Battery OK, OK to program, transfer mode USB.
Also, when now booting, the Motorola sign appears for a few seconds and the phone gets stuck in the boot animation of an old CM version that I previously tried to install.
Does somebody know how to proceed from here to flash any functioning ROM? Or to flash TWRP or CWM?
Can I somehow access the phone in this state using adb? Could fastboot flash recovery work (at the moment, I only get <waiting for device>) after getvar all?
I would appreciate any help. Thanks a lot,
Jay

Flash the correct SBF using RSD Lite or sbf_flash to your Defy+ MB526 which would be using CG version 5, 6 or 7. I recommend flashing a lower CG SBF such as DHT-22 SBF. Then wipe data/factory reset in Motorola Stock Recovery by pressing Vol Down and Power Button simultaneously. If you get a black screen then flash a higher CG SBF. Read this Defy AIO guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982

i flash my phone with a custom rom from this forum
succesfull until RSD Lite step
after RSD Lite, my phone stuck at Motorola logo with blur
tried pull off and pulling on the batery with power and volume up, it got back to bootloader screen
try aother RSD Power, it is still the same
Progress till 100 persen, but the phone stucked at motorola blur logo
any solution, guys?
thanks
What were you trying to flash?
I try to upgrade to froyo.
it stuck after RSD Lite step
Well first, is your phone rooted? Secondly, what stock version did you have?
I think I can get you up and running with Froyo
you may try to install your original version/build number sbf. if its work, maybe you can try flash froyo ROM again. then when you finished restore custom ROM all you have to do is go to bootloader then flash boot/devtree only sbf.. dont pull usb connection. but if RSD want you to turn phone manually then you need to press power button even though your phone at booting state..
i got the same problem, everything was working fine before i done it a couple times but then i used miui and my phone battery died and it wouldnt work after that so i decided to flash with rsd lite and after doing everything normally its just stuck at the motorola and moto blur symbol/animation thing. really frustrating.

did you find fix?
What SBF file did you use?
Have you tried another file?
get into stock recover (Vol Up + Power) then wipe data/cache
Half Bricked
I have an Mb525 rooted (that was) running stock 2.2 Blurred. I installed the Defy boot loader and hard reset/wiped partitions and (tried to) install cm7 from SD, it installs fine, goes fine, everything is all set. Reboot the device and the splash image pops up with the white LED first, then the blue one for boot loader, and finally the green one. It stays on splash screen. I tried 2 different versions of cm7 and both do the same thing. I'm able to access the boot loader, it just doesn't finish loading whatever I flash onto it.
As my phone is dysfunctional, I would appreciate it if you could contact me through my Skype;
kurtdunsmore
I won't receive emails.. =/

Solution
I had this problem. Found a solution at 4pda.ru
1. Shut down your phone.
2. Hold Volume- button, press Power button for 2 seconds. Then release both.
3. When you see Android robot press together both Volume+ and Volume- buttons.
4. Erase both Cache and Data.
5. Reboot.
Your phone should boot normally.

You verified the CG version before flashing the full SBF ??
you can still flash a new rom threw rsd lite.
I would say you done the same as me I tried to flash a version with a lower version and it wouldnt boot at all.
Power the phone on holding the volume up button and connect the USB, It wont show the bootloader screen but RSD lite should say its connected.
You might have to plug it in and out of the usb cable a few times (well I did) till RSD lite connects to it.
You will have to find out what version you had previously and flash the same version or higher (try to stay on the same version if you can)
Dunno if stock recovery would help:
How do I enter Recovery Mode?!: With the Phone off press VOLUME DOWN then, while still pressed, power up the phone and leave VOL key pressed until you see a Yellow triangle, once you see this you are in Recovery now press Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time (if you are in Froyo) and the menu will appear, if you are on Éclair the menu should appear without having to press anything
This is a copy/paste from all in one guide
if its like mine the screen does not show anything, you cant get into bootloader or recovery screen. Well I think it goes into bootloader as RSD lite can read it but it will not show anything on the screen.
I think my problem was trying to install the CM9 kernel as I used the same process and left out flashing the CM9 kernel and it worked perfect, Lucky some one that helped me get my phone working again suggested this to me.
So I now have ICS working by just installing it and Gapps and left out the CM9 kernel
Not sure if that is what you are trying to do but you should be able to flash a new rom with what I said above. Just making sure its the same BL version as your previous install
Thz for all your help,I can fix my defy+ since I using bl7 sbf
I think I will root it and flash other rom soon

Pull the battery and reinsert it while holding Vol-Down. This usually works as a power-up.
Do it while connected to a PC. The PC should sound the "device connected" sound.
If the white LED comes on, it usually means the phone is OFF and charging. No LED usually means it's ON and in BL mode (you should get the white text on black screen, but you won't if you have flashed a 'bad' SBF).
Try this a few times.
If nothing else is broken you should be able to get into BL mode and flash an SBF.
But your power button needs to be mechanically fixed at some stage, or your phone isn't going to be much use.

now can you turn on your phone? the power btn works?
try flashing official sbf , root and 2nd-init again.
p.s make sure you have above 20% batt or you gonna spend your time just like me plugging the defy mobo directly to 5 volts.

OK so if the phone will boot into recovery it SHOULD also boot into bootloader ?
Maybe I confused OP by saying hold "Vol Down" when I meant "Vol UP" ???
Anyway, OP will probably not get too far without a functional Power button.

Are you SURE? I have had Bootloader work even though nothing shows on screen (when I flashed the wrong SBF). The screen was black but RSD could still "see" the device.
Defy has a locked bootloader (cannot be overwritten), so the fact that you can boot into recovery indicates the bootloader is still there and working. Maybe the problem is in your version of RSD Lite, or your version of drivers installed on the PC, or in your USB cable?
Try uninstalling the drivers from the PC, then rebooting, then attaching the phone and insert battery while holding Vol-Up. This SHOULD reinstall the BL drivers to the PC. Try another USB cable - I have had cables which work for charging but not for data transfer.

I have a problem with my Motorola defy(non+). After i installed by mistake Android 4.4 with kernel 3.0 by Quarx, my defy wouldn't boot into the OS.
Tried to install another ROM but it ran into a problem and failed. Tried to install after that a new SBF because i don't know why the recovery menu was not there anymore.
Suddenly, after it finished, i noticed the phone won't power up anymore. It happened to me 2 times in the past and just adjusting the charger end into the phone carefully worked and i could power on the phone and install a different sbf and solve the problem but now it's different.
The phone won't power up with that method again.
When i connected the phone into the laptop the white led appeared, but without powering it on, RDS lite identified the device.
I installed a froyo 2.2.2 CEE sbf succesfully(it said) but it doesn't power up and now RDS lite doesn't recognise it either.(LED still works though)
What can i do?

Try wiping data and cache in the stock recovery. To get into the stock recovery, power off the phone, hold in the volume- button then also press and hold the power button. After a few seconds you should see a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle, and a little green android guy below that. Then press the volume+ and volume- buttons at the same time, and a menu should appear. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu, and the power button to select an option. Select "wipe data/factory reset" and also "wipe cache partition". Then try to reboot the phone.
If the phone still won't boot, go into bootloader before connecting to RSD lite. To go into bootloader, power off your phone, then hold in the volume+ button and the power button at the same time. After about 5 seconds, release the buttons. The bootloader should display – it will show the version and a battery check. (If that doesn’t work, pull the battery, then put it back in while holding the volume+ and power buttons.) Then connect USB cable and use RSD Lite to flash sbf again.
Hi. So i kinda repaired my defy but it still has a problem. It does not want to charge without using MCGyver method. Everything else works fine, except the phone does not detect my battery so instead it shows a question mark. BTW i deleted by mistake the sbf but i know it was chinese. Only that sbf worked. Could you find me a good working sbf?
I was messing with my P10 Lite and I accidentally wiped the Vendor partition (not sure if I wiped anything else) with TWRP. After the phone rebooted it said something about a critical error during boot and went into erecovery. It gave me two options( I don't remember the second one) and I chose factory reset. It started doing it's thing but I guess something went wrong because it wasn't able to boot and it started to bootloop.
I managed to get into fastboot once. The bootloader and FRP should be unlocked but I am not sure as I think I semi accidentally used the command to relock the bootloader in the hopes of it doing the automatic low level factory reset. After that restart, the phone wanted to boot up but after the Huawei logo it went into the EMUI logo which I've shown in the pictures. Now I can't use any button combination and can't enter any menu. I also can't shut down the phone as it bootloops into the EMUI logo after I press the power button. I opened the phone and turned it off by detaching the battery cable but after holding the power down key and plugging the usb cable into the phone it still boots into the EMUI logo right after the Huawei logo.
I guess not being able to enter fastboot is the major issue and after hours of googling I am yet to find a solution.
Edit: I am a newb!
Please help!
Why did you delete the vendor partition, you could try plugging the phone into your computer and checking if you can do anything with fastboot while it's showing emui logo?

I've already tried that. I've placed the appropriate files into my SDcard but I can't use any button commands including volume up+down+power. When I press them my device just boots into the EMUI logo and nothing happens.
Edit: It boots into the EMUI logo even if I only press the power button. Pressing volume down + usb also boots me into the EMUI logo

Ok, it seems like not all is lost about my phone. I managed to get into fastboot. In my situation, pressing volume down + usb cable while the battery was plugged into the phone did not work. That was before I opened up my phone's case and disconnected the battery cable.
As I mentioned before, I had opened my phone and disconnected the battery cable because that was the only way to shut it off.
What I did after I disconnected the battery cable was the following:
1 - Hold volume down and don't release it
2 - Plug in USB
3 - Plug in the battery cable into the phone's mobo.
That booted me into fastboot. Right now, the phone says my bootloader in unlocked and my FRP is locked. What would be the best way to flash the new stock OS on my phone?

I have downloaded THIS and THIS for the new OS but by talking with Alexxxx1 in THIS discussion I learnt that Huawei has implemented a security patch in their latest update, which I've most likely installed, that prevents you from rolling back your OS version. That means I need to install the .386 version, which should be the last if I am not wrong, instead of the .378 correct? Though I heavily dislike patches like this I guess I can't do anything about that...
