Hi, fellows
I have tried to root my head unit using: KingRoot, TowelRoot, Root Master etc and every single one failed. It is something that I am doing wrong? or it is not possible.
Please help!
Aparently, not possible...
What is a "Pumpkin Android rckPX2 4.4.4?" Searching for rckPX2 on the Pumpkin website turns up nothing.
My unit is this one on their website LM-C0676-US-A GeneralS: Android 4.4 Kit KatCPU: Rockchip PX2 Cortex A9 Dual Core 1.4GHzRAM: DDR3 1GBNand Memory: 8GBAudio output: 4*45W maxScreen Resolution: 800*480 Cold Boot time: about 25-30s - See more at: http://www.autopumpkin.com/car-dvd-...-control-for-toyota.html#sthash.FlVuWSf2.dpuf
Mike the Rockchip 3066 and the Rockchip PX3 seems to be the same processor just that the 3066 is used only in consumer products and the PX2 is used for consumer products and industrial applications.
I did post the link to both processors PDF to see if somebody can compare them and determine if I can use the Malaysk room with my unit.
Thanks for your help!
Sorry is PX2 not PX3.
The first 2 characters of Pumpkin model numbers indicate the OEM. I don't know who "LM" is, but it's not one of the known manufacturers of HuiFei type units. So, Malaysk's firmware is very unlikely to work.

Mike I was told by Pumpkin that my unit is made by Senzchen Winmark Electronics Ltd in China. I went to their website and they sell my unit under a different part number DQ6514

Do you know were I can find more info about that? I'm really with itches to flash Malaysk's firmware in my AL-C0241 or AL-5701 (they are the same unit) and I really would love to have the original firmware to put back if something goes wrong...
Unfortunately I have not being able to find a workaround solution yet. I want to flash Malaysk rom like you but I do not want to brick the unit so I keep looking and asking for help. I have read and being told the following:
a) You need to be rooted to be able to backup your original rom.
b) You cannot go back to 4.2 either.
So the only solution is to find someone that can look in my case to both processors the rk3066 and rkpx2 and respond yes they are the same go ahead and do it.

I just checked your unit in Pumpkin website and it has the rk3188 processor. Malaysk rom is for the rk3188 and 3066. If the only requirement to flash this rom is just about the processor then you should be fine but I do not know this, maybe somebody else in this forum could help with answers.

I believe it's not the only but it's the most important. Come on guys, enlight the nooblets here!!!
Malaysk's firmware is meant for HuiFei type units. It is not known to work with others, even if they happen to use the same processor.
For instance, the Winlink/Ownice units (they have their own thread) will not work with Malaysk's firmware, even though some use the RK3188 and have the same resolution as some HuiFei type units.
thanks for your input Mike! this is the input that was missing.
that means I MUST put my fingers on my original firmware before try a rooted image.
Thanks again
Nuno

Thanks Mike!
That closes this chapter. Next option is to learn how to code.

My 2 cents
I would just try to install the rk3066 version of the ROM and see if it works. I don't think you will have a problem, it should work.
I accidentally was trying to install the wrong one on my radio and it just didn't install didn't mess anything up.
Unzip the Rom and put it on a SD card with nothing else on it.
Put the SD card into the GPS sd card slot while the headunit is on and it will pop up a box saying it found a update or something and
just reboot the until and it should start installing it.
Well at least this worked on mine. Just do it you don't need the old ROM. Hope this helps
Hi all, I've a similiar car unit, same CPU, same screen resolution, I've found a link to sownload an original rom:
http://www.autopumpkin.com/pumpkin-...i-odb2-steering-wheel-control-for-toyota.html
and here direct link:
https://mega.nz/#F!UE9ElapD!A-uTerI11qQ86r2ModVnyg
inside there are both firmware and mcu, but I didn't find something to dump it to explore system files, from images seem to be better than MCU I have mounted on mine (specific Fiat Punto Evo car unit), I cannot Root it, cannot install CWM (bad update.zip message!), please, there is someone that can suggest me with (if there are) utility to use to dump it? it will be interesting also to investigate about it, to try to find some easy ways to root kk 4.4.4 rockchip px2 devices.
Thanks in advances.

If it does not say MTCB/C/D/E in the MCU description then it is not any of them. There are many MCU variants out there.

Sorry mate, I can't help you with that one. If it's quad core it seems like it's an older unit. Could be a QD unit. There seem to be three main manufacturers, FYT, MTC and QD.
P.S. Please give me a thanks if you appreciated the little help I could offer.
Hi all,
I have this head unit in my car (2gb version)
(can't link because of 1st post, but AliExpress item 32868132999, just put it in search)
and I got links to 2 firmwares that fit it.
mediafire dot com /file/ud14b8lvxz4i684/Quad_Core8.0_PX5.zip/file
mediafire dot com /file/5wkv6rfu26352d7/8.0PX5.rar
1 . First of all - are there custom roms for this? Maybe those firmwares could tell what model I'm working with? I've tried to look around the forums but I can't get a read what model this is.
Baseband version says SF3GR_M-26.3_cpeg_rk-r2p_bc2-20160629_111639
and MCU version says 2018-06-02 12:21:04 FAD_(R76)__90_D1_V1.0_CAN(All) _AMP
2. I've looked at the files in the firmware packages, but I'm afraid to touch those without knowing if it's ok.
And how can I repack Allapp.pkg if I change something inside of it? In Windows 10.
I'd like to have root and disable the "feature" that maxes the system volume every second, I'd like to have my volume by speed back but now it's impossible.
I hope someone could help me to get started, getting really dizzy reading through dozens of threads here!
Thanks!

Based on your specs it looks like a SoFIA model made by FYT. It's important to understand the different tiers of terminology around here. Took me a while and I'm still learning. There are manufacturers (FYT, MTC, QD, etc...) and resellers (Joying, Witson, etc...). Then there are chipsets (Rockchip, Allwinner, SoFIA). Some manufacturers use various different chipsets in their head units. FYT may use some SoFIA and some Rockchip. Some resellers will also sell various different models that come with similar specs but different chipsets. Finally there is the MCU. This is probably the most manufacturer specific part of the whole HU. It handles all of the stuff that Android can't. FYT probably has the best implementation because it is able to hand off more stuff to Android than the others and that means that we are less dependent of a manufacturer specific part. Normally you can tell who manufactures a unit based on the formatting of the MCU string. Your formatting suggests it is an FYT unit. Gtxaspec has a custom ROM out for SoFIA FYT units. Look through the threads posted by him and you'll find it. My best advice to you is to read, read, read and read some more. You will struggle to find one cohesive walkthrough on these forums but if you put all of the pieces together then you will most likely be able to learn a lot.
P.S. If you feel that this helped at all a thanks would be appreciated.
Thank you for the response. I +1 thanked you.

Do you mean the "GTX joying ROM V9a3 for FYT/SYU based Intel SoFIA Head Units!"
or "gtx ROM for "FYT" [JOYING] PX5 Head Units!"? As those firmwares I got have PX5 in their file name, I'd guess the PX5 one. But then when I look inside the firmware packages mcu-folder, there's a text file full of MCU versions that include "FAD_MCU_6021_6022_7786_20180602", and those 6021 and 6022 are mentioned in the non-PX5 rom: "For FYT SoM (5009/6011/6021/6022/6023) based JOYING / Intel SoFIA units ONLY!"
Still confused, haha! Another +1 thanks to a helpful reply

You android build gives away that your unit is a SoFIA. If it starts with SF3GR then it's based on the intel SoFIA chipset. Also, if you look at the specs for the Ali Listing that you mentioned then you will see that it is also listed as a SoFIA unit. The MCU tells you that it is most likely manufactured by FYT. The fact that you see the same in the txt file listing the MCUs supported by the build on your unit confirms that it is manufactured by FYT. As per the Ali listing it is sold by funrover.
You should therefore use the SoFIA FYT ROM by gtxaspec. I've not tried it myself but as far as I understand he does not flash the MCU when you install the ROM so all of the original functionality should remain and you get the benefits of his ROM which are listed in that thread. You will need to root your unit first but that method is well established and discussed for the SoFIA units.
Hi guys, im sorry if im asking in the wrong place but I dis not know where to start but any help is welcome.
I have just recently purchased a Seicane android 10.0 2gb ram 32g rom head unit for my 2012 Hyundai Elantra from Aliexpress.
I have not yet received my headunit however was wanting to know if there was a custom rom option available for the android 10? I see that there are many options available for previous android versions however I am yet to see any info re android 10 and custom roms/rooting options for it.
If anyone is able to point me in the right direction it would be a great help. Not sure if i can post links to the actual product but can provide a link via message if necessary

Hello everyone. I received an updated Firmware directly from seicane for their head unit. This is Android 10 update for the 2/32 GB unit. Everything seems to be working great so far on unit. If you would like to try it for yourself please feel free to download and install. I'm not too tech savvy so if you have any questions I'll answer them the best I can. Thought I would share for anyone to update their own unit if possible
PLEASE BE ADVISED YOU USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I will not be held responsible for any damages done to your own unit.

The thing is, I can connect my phone to the radio unit, but I can't search for Bluetooth devices because there isn't a option for Bluetooth for it in the Android Menu.
Also the car unit doesn't run anything at background, except Maps or music app (only if it's playing something)
2/32g unit?
Thank you for the update. Question please... What do you mean by 2 unit? I have an Allwinner T3p1 k2001 Quadcore 1024x600 screen A23 Android 10 and wondering if I could use your update in case I brick mine while trying to root... Do you know if your update would be compatible with a quad core? Trying hard to find a way to root but cant find my device in twrp and super bummed no one has guided isoking with his rooting desires since I have the exact same model and MCU to the T. I appreciate any guidance you could give. Not sure which Magisk img or twrp would be ok to use for my device, all usb drivers I've tried do not work, and really want root access with Google install capability. Thank you!
These are Allwinner based on the Sunliq platform..Allwinner has locked USB debugging on these units, and there is a formal petition against them for that, they dont play clean with GPL..
Since there is no operational USB debugging, it cannot be rooted or custom recoveried for now..
