I'm going to guess in a week and a half depending on what they want to add.

Hopefully soon. I'm really looking forward to the increased battery life more than anything else.

Am I missing something? It still says it is under manufacturer development on t-mobile's site.

Not until they release s8. Sarcasm aside (and half truth), there's no set date for US carrier variants of S7 edge for nougat release. It's been almost 3 weeks since international variants got Nougat and we are here just waiting. Every single news outlet is only for 935F versions or Exynos ones.
#Disappointed #S7Fails.

Sux.

Why do you even care for the update.. Always same stuff

Lol T-mobile last with update. All this damn testing is bad timing and we don't even have it.

Tmobile just recently moved to the testing phase per their website.
Don't know how long they test for. Next phone i get i will just pay it off to unlock it. If i do that, do i still have to wait to get the carrier update or would i be able to get it early like the unlocked or international variences? I ask because i have the Jump program so i should be upgrading once the S8 comes out.

I don't why we have to wait this long with Samsung phones I always want to move to pure device just because of this delays

@ssgunner20 As far as I know, you can not, unless you root your device and install cyanogen mod or other updated rom

Good to know, thx

Sprint getting Official Lollipop Now...

Just FYI, hopefully we are next... we will see..
Where did you get your information from because I just looked on a few credible sites like phonearena.com, androidauthority.com & androidpolice.com and I do not see any mention of Sprint Note 4 getting the official Lollipop update.
I know the T-Mobile Note 3 recently got the update. Maybe Sprint just got the update for the Note 3 as well.

Wonder how hard it would be to port the ROM for T-Mobile. Kind of surprised we haven't seen any 5.0 ports yet.
Probably won't get ported, it'll be here before you know it now..

At this point, a port isnt even necessary. By the time it was done, we'd have Official already. In the past, there have only been ports of international versions since they come so early.
Official T Mobile Lollipop shouldn't be too long off now.

Perhaps, but the tracking site on T-Mobile still shows the update in "Manufacture Development" So, it hasn't even started the T-Mobile testing process yet.

Lol, suckers or not...I want that lollipop update just to see what samsung has done differently...tmobile making this hard.
Right now its matter of wanting the new thing despite knowing how jacked up it is. Lollipop been a bundle of bugs since 5.0.0 and I believe they are releasing 5.1?

Oh I know that thing not showing on my device (a samsung device) until next year.

Just spoke with T-Mobile regarding this. Advised that I was curious how and why it showed still in manufacturer development whereas many international carriers as well as Sprint have the update pushed. Explained that it would stand to reason that it shouldn't show that status. The agent went on to state that T-Mobile is working on finishing it up now.
Okay, so, this tells me one of a few things. 1 - Their site is not updated and T-Mobile has it or 2 - They have yet to receive it from the manufacturer. I would have to lean towards option 1 but that is purely speculation based on nothing more than stupid hope! However, their choice of wording has me interested and hopeful. They would not give any sort of a date, only to say that they were trying to make sure it was running smoothly.
FWIW.

Oh, and one more thing I thought about. Some of you veterans around here have a much better idea about this than myself. Is it possible they are nearly ready but don't want to dedicate the bandwidth to pushing it to both the Note 3 (which as I understand was just pushed) AND the Note 4 at the same time (the mentality being them not wanting THAT many users all pulling an update at the same time, slowing things to a crawl)?

I doubt that is the case. If memory serves me right, the note 3 and the gs4 both receive kitkat at the same time. I personally think it just arrived late for them and they were not done with it in time. If you look at it, only sprint got the note 4 update out right now. Verizon nor ATT made any noise on it...and verizon was first to drop lollipop in the US with the Gs5

Your Wife's friend must have a custom Lolli Rom, because Tmo did not push it out for the G3 yet. Either way, the page is inaccurate.

Boost 306SH just updated

My Boost Aquos Crystal just updated this morning. It's still on 4.4.2, so I'm not sure what's exactly in the update. This may be too soon to say but it seems to have fix the weird touch issues.

Android Central hmzzz don't believe everything they are saying.
They also said you loose image quality /features in the camera if you unlock the bootloader which isn't true.

Some users on their forum also says that. ATT got it 2 days before and we are getting it to.
I hope they move dual window back to back button. Thats all i need.

Pretty sure its true, but ATT's was only like 25mb
What I don't understand as an EU G4 user.
Why does T-mobile provide an update? Is it an update on their software? Or is LG involved?
Are there specific T-mobile apps on it?
I got the update this morning. To answer a couple of questions: No, no new apps. Dual window is still in the same place.
I dont notice anything right offhand different, but I havent done much with my phone yet this morning. Heres a capture of my info:

T-Mobile (as well as most carriers) ship out the updates after they've approved the changes. I would imagine this is to ensure that nothing being updated will affected their carrier's included Spam (I mean added software) or network connectivity. Last thing they want is their stores or customer service lines inundated with "help! The update broke my cellular connection!" claims.

If you do notice anything of real substance, please post it so that we can know. For now, I think I will avoid connecting to WiFi until I know what this update actually does. I've never been a fan of generic changelogs...
But then it's a little bit strange that the international version. Hasn't got the update.
So you could assume it has to do with their spam apps.
Maybe it fixes the touchscreen issue. I haven't gotten an update yet, and I've switched back to my S5 for now.

Could have to do with any number of kernel/lib/framework related items specific to carrier. Could be cellular radio related, WiFi related (wifi calling has been weird on my phone...doesn't want to seem to connect but I have awesome reception where I live, so I don't need it), etc...
Has your version had any updates in last week or two? If so, it might just be that the carriers are just now approving that update and pushing out to the devices.

That is true for certain phones. Like the Sony phones.
Sweet. Pretty quick imo. Look forward to seeing if it fixes some small issues I've been having (touch/tap misses and knock settings). I know knock settings are a longshot, but it would be nice to be able to configure them to each persons liking. I'd love to be able to turn off the "drag one finger down to quick view the clock/status"
I got my update overnight.
Phone updated without any warning or notice when I woke up this morning. CHecked the software version and it was the new one.
I havent noticed any differences as of yet.
Actually I just looked at my phone and already running version h I wonder if from the factory there were two different images

No I haven't got any updates on my version (H815).
Got the update and my phone starting shaking and jumping around on my desk. When the update was complete it turned into a Galaxy S6
Since they are already working on root and unlock I wouldn't take the ota just yet. Ive got a replacement on the way so once I get the update I'll take it on the one I'm returning and see if any changes. Ill also do a system dump on the new version too if necessary.

Please help me obi one, Vanilla Update kind of bricked my ZenFone 3 Laser (ZC551KL)

(This is why this phone need a cyanogen version, Asus coders are WAY too incompetent)
Since I installed vanilla update on vanilla out of the box os crapware MMB29P.WW_user_14.40.144.6_20161108
my phone
1 won't detect my sim 1 (I got only one)
2 Wont activate/detect wifi AT ALL
So I have a brand new non-internet, non call phone now. Who the f..... release these kind of updates? Seriously?
So any help on how to deal with this (maybe rollbacking a non sh...y version?) is really, really welcomed.
So I contacted support
Apparently the update 14.40.144.6_20161108 got my Zenfone a direct return trip to factory.
The same **** happened to me. And what's the solution, they told youI?have the feeling who many will aired with this update.
Return Trip? Heh, I was told the following :
Regarding the described case, the problem is possibly caused due to a firmware bug.
We have urgently forwarded the below correspondence to the responsible department fo our HQ and requested for this issue to be fixed as soon as possible.

Outside Asus Support, I havent found a way to roll back to a previous version. At least, according to Asus, there is no rollback option.

They MIGHT have told me to get it re-serviced because they assumed most people CANT install a fresh official rom on a vanilla bootloader/Recovery...
But all in one customer service was absolutely TERRIBLE. First inquiery they just classified as closed/solved and just bloody moved along. Second no news from bespite they offered to escalate (because appart the factory reset tech guy have no clue)
now I'm currently bit...ing all over their FB place and I suggest strongly to help me build up pressure.
These days when you got issue you don't adress customer service but community manager, they fear for their branding. Especially on Black Friday Week end.

SM-G892A (S8 Active) - Root Bounty?

Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone has started a bounty for rooting this device. As it compares to the S8 itself, the hardware is the same in a much less soy-esque packaging. I like everything about this device except for it's lack of dev support.
I'd be willing to start it off with $100 dollars USD to begin with. (I'd also be interested in contacting some devs to help fuzz the thing / provide dumps / do what I can)
It would be a wonder to see this thing rooted and it's assumed to be possible if the S8 had received one.
I'll give this thread a nice bump since it seems like the Active is coming to other US carriers soon enough.
I'm in for $50 usd (or worth of btc/eth)
Want this phone on TMo but need root
EDIT: i'm good for $50, but to be clear, needs to work on the TMo variant which is coming out later this month (I will NEVER buy another AT&T phone -- the most locked down bootloaders ever!).
I can contact some of the devs i worked with in the original SamPWND root method and see if they would be willing to take the task on. Will report back shortly with update!

That would be rad, post an update when / if you hear from them. It's appreciated.
For the time being, I just brought the phone back and got an S8. That does mean that I won't be able to help with any sort of development for obvious reasons. I'll be sure to pick up an active if something goes on and I am still good for 100 dollars.
I really needed root sooner than I thought for some specific stuff, it's rough not being able to afford proper unlocked devices from the OEM..
(If I don't destroy this slippery piece of glass)

Well I can do it probably easily but without a device to actually prove it works it's kinda useless.

Yeah, I know.. It got down to a point where there was one day left to return it hassle free and root was rather important.
I'm still willing to pitch in for a root method, you'll just need someone else to test now.
I have an s8 active and I would be willing to test it. I'm fairly tech savvy I would just need instructions and I would most certainly help in anyway I can!!!!

I would pitch in but I'm always short in the wallet. As I said though I have my own device that I could offer as a guinea pig! I wanted to thank you for bringing some attention to this device and still offering your original proposed bounty
Also an s8 active owner and willing to try it! I'm pissed that tethering is locked, it's such a load of BS.
Has anybody checked out the thread by chainfire about signing boot images?? There's other Sammy guys in the mix too interesting thread for sure

Do you have a device to test with? If so I'll do this tonight
I have a tmobile s8 active and I'm willing to be a guinea pig if it means root
AT&T s8 active owner here. I'm willing to test root methods as long as I can get a grace period to review said methods and code.

Ill see what i can do tonight if i have time, otherwise soon. The only risk, as with all other root methods, is it not working and having to reflash stock firmware

Don't own the device or a US s8 but from my experience with the s7 active and flashing s7 roms on the active and them working I would guess that root can be obtained the same way with the same methods used kernel wise as in kernel image setup or which ever combination method was used for the s8? Just a uneducated thought I had. Aside from the s7A I haven't bought an American US branded phone since 2013. Another idea I have would be since they both share the same everything, can you use the root method for the s8? My experience with the 7active was the active button didn't work and the back and menu buttons were broken but other than that all worked. Same theory for your s8A but since you don't have physical buttons I'd say success is 90%
I say again success is 90% if you flash s8 firmware on the active and take the same root method as the active. Battary will be wonky but you'll have root lemme know if method works please.
Also, hard brick is unlikely since everything hardware wise minus the battary is the same.
