Since there are no d852 builds yet for LineageOS, I thought I would compile my own. I'm using an unmodified source from the lineageos github. I'm currently using it on my d852 and it works great. I'll try to get a build done every Friday until official builds start.
*NOTE*: I won't be providing any kind of support for this. I have no idea on how to fix bugs. This is the first time I've even compiled a rom.
You can grab builds from here:
http://builds.hermies.net
EDIT: Builds will now be Sunday evening.
FIrst and most importantly, thank you very much for doing this. This phone is still rocking and fast enough for me so I have no interest in upgrading so any ROM updates are great.
Once a week build would be great. Is there a visible changelog I can look into or is it not up yet?
I'm not seeing a changelog anywhere. That probably isn't set up yet on their end.
Today's build gave me a boot into safe mode. Cleared cache and all is good.
Just giving heads up to others.
No problems here. I always wipe dalvik and cache after I flash anything. It's a good habit to get in to.

The rom installs, Modem works, but cannot download/install anything ( gaaps installed via twrp and whenever anything downloads from a browser or gaaps its either corrupt or doesn't even acknowledge its downloading or download at all (regardless of how long you wait)
Appreciate the attempt. but that minor issue is obviously a requirement. Using D852, ill just wait till the Official Version is released then tinker that as i have been with 14.1 (reverting back to latest nightly from CM)
Good luck with your rom tho. Glad its working for others. But not mine!

Strange. No such issues here on wifi or LTE. I'm able to download from the play store, gello and chrome without issue.

You are correct, it is NOT the rom that is the problem. My G3 decided to act up and now no matter what rom i install this problem still persists., even hangs when attempting to boot into TWRP now ( oh **** son )
Going to fully wipe and attempt to get it back working... brought it back from worse issues before. Love the phone would hate to have to replace it..
But the Rom itself is not my issue. i retract previous post :silly:
New build today. I decided to do a build today because the January 5 security patches were merged shortly after I did my Friday build.

Thank you. I appreciate people who care about security updates.
I would never buy a phone without unlockable bootloader. I got one by accident (Sony Z2 from Bell) and never again.

Another thing would be the faulty Notification LED, every time I charge my phone the LED has green and red light that mixed up. But for me it is a nice build (simple).

I don't even use the leds, minor minor issue. barely noticeable, (and really never noticed it till you said anything lol great now its going to annoy my ocd) there a way of disabling the led altogether? i don't see a purpose of them really..
No issues with the led on my phone. It could be a firmware issue. I'm using v10 firmware with a v20 baseband

Maybe that could be the case, I returned my phone to its original state (kitkat) and returned to normal.
New build today. I forked the kernel and made the following changes:
- Update f2fs from https://kernel.googlesource.com/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jaegeuk/f2fs-stable
- Reverted f2fs-stable commit de62dad6f502c67fd01b5c0b1f7f242836ce90d0 to allow f2fs to function with SuperSU. More info: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70492947&postcount=8793

on the latest d802 4.4.2 custom roms and kernels i get a lot of freezes.
it will freeze in the middle of an animation and will take some seconds up to some minutes and then working normal again.
sometimes i have to hard-reboot to get out of freeze / lag.
on older 4.4.2 slimroms i never had this behavior, only since some weeks with new roms / kernels.
i`ve tried every rom / kernel combo but sooner or later i will get a freeze again.
could a revert to stock and re-rooting / flashing custom rom maybe a solution? i`m afraid to do this because of the long time to backup my 32gb data.
what are your experiences with the latest 4.4.2 roms and kernels? did you find a solution for this with any combo or fixes?
help would be appreciated.

The only thing I can say is I own the VS980 version of the device and i've tried every single 4.4 rom offered on this sight and have the same issue with all. Most of the time i'm using the device and it freezes, sometimes reboots, and sometimes comes out of it after a few minutes. Also not being able to wake the device only seeing a black screen and forced to hard reboot device. 4.3 seems to be a much better with these issues but not completely solved for me. I'm hoping the release of 4.4 source from lg will fix these issues but i'm unsure. So at least your not alone in these problems lol. I've tried multiple kernels and governors etc. Bumping up the min freq on the cpu seems to help and changing to interactive governor but doesn't eliminate the issue just help. I thought my next move would be to use lg flash tool and update to latest firmware reroot and install cwm.

Yea unfortunately it seems very common among these devices so i'm pretty confident it's a software issue although i'm not 100% sure of that. I ran a flex rom for a few days on 4.2.2 and didn't have any of the same issues.
added a poll as a matter of interest.
omni-ROM, Mokee rom, vanir rom etc.freezing problem still continues.
Using CM11 (4.4.2) for 5 days with zero freezes so far.. note that this is on D800, not 802.

Yes, stock cm kernel.
I'm thinking back now and it did freeze once when first signing into the Google account immediately after flashing the ROM, but nothing after that. So.. nearly spotless
Nice! Maybe they are getting the issues ironed out. Haven't been on cm11 for a week or so since it was the worst with freezes for me. I'll have to give it another shot.

Best of luck! To be specific, I'm using the snapshot release of cm11... still don't trust the nightly releases
i did a lg flash tool stock restore, factory reset and OTA updates. now the freezes did not come back until now *knock on wood*.
when i did a backup of the sd there was one corrupt media file which was not able to transfer.
maybe the media scanner did go crazy and was the reason for the freezes.
using cm11 m3 on my d802... very little freezes compared to previous nightlies, fingers crossed
Q&A for [AOSPA 4.4.4 KTU84P] ParanoidAndroid 4.4+ G2 [06/28]

One simple question.
The builds from aospa are 4.4 sources or 4.2?

@houstonn was originally developing but stopped in June due to computer failures which is being resolved soon. His last build of 6/29 was on 4.4 sources and required the modem of stock 4.4.
The current builds supplied by @ayysir and now @jakew02 are on 4.2 sources which would require that specific modem.
Which ones exactly not sure as I am not familiar with every carrier version only sprint.

It has been stated in the ROM thread multiple times that you must use a 4.2 STOCK JB MODEM for best compatibility. Any other modems you guys use is solely at YOUR OWN DISCRETION. @MeestaAytch they should know what to use at this point but thanks for clarifying again for those who don't want to search before posting :highfive:
@jakew02 no problem. I know it's tiring repeating the same information but from what I've seen in my time using XDA.... It'll never change.
I'm glad you devs still continue doing what you're doing for us though knowing this nonsense goes on.

A few bugs
Hi,
The thread is too big for me to go thru it post by post so I'll just make a few questions and hopefully I'll get some answers. I flashed this ROM and it was working flawlessly. I only found very few bugs like not being able to set up multiple recurrent alarms because the app would freeze and there was another bug but I can't remember. The problem I find frustrating is with the text messages or SMSs. At first I was not receiving SMSs. Then I was receiving them but I couldn't send any. I returned back to stock VS98024a and I'm still having the same problem but at least I'm getting a pop-up when "General problems: cause code 96". I have googled this several times in several ways and can't seem to find a solution, not even on the Verizon site or help app on the phone. I need help with this please.
How to keep the back home task manager buttor on the screen?
battery life? i want to install on lg d800 and its beta only..

Hi,
From where you get Dorimanx kernel for AOSP ROMs ?
My phone says it can't connect to the camera, and the torch. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Please state exact filename and order of wipe/flash.
Just tried the test build for D802. Booted at LG logo for a while then screen turned black with 2 red lines and one green vertical line. I was so sure I was gonna get the permanent black lines but then again I read that the damaged screens are caused by already faulty hardware under high heat.
Anyways, I panicked and then I restarted the phone by pressing power + down. Then I got the weird boot sequence like everyone above describes and it boots into the OS. Thank God I got no black lines! However it wasn't stable for me as the phone rebooted itself twice within the span of 20 minutes. I'm going back to 13/10 build for now.
Any d802 users flashing latest twitter released rom can you please report here if jdi or lgd and whether or not weird logo appeared?
I'm on jdi and had weird logo appeared after clean flash. I did not let the rom boot and reflashed previous version without further problems
FYI, houston's latest works great so far on the VS980. Clean flash, using RenderKernel R24.
So i have the vs980 and i currently have xdabbebs rom on my phone, but i want to try PA. Can someone explain how to flash a rom over another rom, or is there something else i should do. i tried it once by flashing with twrp and it just hung on the lg sreen. luckily i had a back up

Migrating from one ROM to another is for me like this:
1. Nandroid backup
2. Wipe all except sdcard (yes, wipe system)
3. Flash new ROM
Be sure to always have a Nandroid backup!
And always check what baseband (aka radios or modem) your new ROM is requiring.
-___-
If you are UPDATING your current ROM, I.e. flashing a new build of let's say paranoid android, you can flash the updated file right on top of your old system. That is called DIRTY FLASHING and it's actually risky, so please, always do Nandroid backups!

Peace
Thank you for the reply. I tried doing it the way you suggested again and i get the same results. I wipe everything that is necessary and when i try to install the zip it immediately says failed

Ok
I would;
Update my custom recovery to the latest
Download recommended baseband, to be on the safe side
Redownload the ROM
Check the md5-checksum
Retry to install it
Flash the recommended baseband, better safe than sorry
Never give up
Peace
Hi guys i just flashed the newest build and out of all the roms i have flashed i have never seen this problem. After i flashed i have no sim service at all. Done a clean install still no good.
I installed loillipop 5.1, from scratch using the factory image. All went smooth and the performance was much better than with 5.0.2 (which was my previous version), but I have random reboots unless I stay connected to the wall. This can be easily reproduced by putting the tablet to sleep (i.e., I pressing power button). Immediately my nexus reboots (99% of times).
I tried everything possible. Factory reset. Reistalled after formatting every possible partition. Reistalled starting from scratch without using my google backups. Nothing helps.
The only solution was to come back to 5.0.2 (again through the factory images, flashing and formatting everything).
Last test I am going to do is to use the OTA to go from 5.0.2 to 5.1 but I do not have much hope.
Anyone else experiencing similar problems?
It looks like an hardware issue put in evidence by the new kernel that is part of 5.1, but it could eb enything else.
Greetings.
Have you tried using any other kernel, eg. franco kernel?

Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't know Franco had released a version of his kernel for 5.1. I tried latest M-Kernel but it is not working with 5.1. Now I am sideloading the OTA from a stable 5..0.2, just to see if going to 5.1 using OTA helps. Will report if I succeed and in case I didn't will try with FK (and report).
Meanwhile, any other suggestion is welcome

Current situation after some more tests:
5.0.2 from factory image (full wipe): works
5.0.2 -> 5.1 via OTA: reboot each time goes to sleep (unless wall powered or attached to PC USB)
5.1 from factory image (full wipe): same as above
rastapop 5.1 (full wipe): same as above
5.1 + franco kernel R82: same as above
I would try to increase CPU voltage: any suggestion how to do? Which kernel to use? Which app to adjust voltages? I am going to try with franco kernel and trickstermod (which I already bought) but I am not sure this combination will allow me to adjust voltages.
EDIT: no way to adjust voltages with FK for 5.1. Reverting back to 5.0.2 and waiting someone gives suggestions or has similar issues (or releases new kernels)

Even in your case the device reboots just after entering sleep mode? Please confirm, I thought I was the only one, but if this happens to others then it must be a software issue, not hardware.
This does not happen at all to me(using stock 5.1 with Franco Kernel).
This is indeed happening to me as well with the factory 5.1 image. Also thought Franco Kernel could possibly be a solution but didn't work. I had F2FS previously but reverted to install stock 5.1.

It looks like a mixed hw/sw problem. It is indeed clear that 5.1 works on most N7, either being installed from factory images or after an OTA upgrade, but for some of us it results in rebooting when the machine goes to sleep.
I attached last_kmsg (/proc/last_kmsg) just after the problem manifested. This is exactly what happens every time I put the device to sleep (pressing the power button or leaving it alone for a couple of minutes) and it repeats always the same (with the same kmsg).
Anyone knows how to extract other information that could be useful to isolate the source of the problem? Notice that I cannot do a catlog since the device doesn't go to sleep if it is connected to a PC (so I cannot recreate the problem).
Your battery is dying, I've been getting the same problem until I replaced the battery today.

A hardware problem related with the power unit of the device was also my first hypothesis, but under 5.0.2 i everything works perfectly and the battery has the original duration. Under 5.1 also everything works... until the device goes to sleep. Only then it reboots.
Was this the behavior in your case?
I've been getting the same issues on my N7 since updating.
regret to disappoint you people, but i have not a single reboot in my nexus 7 since doing a clean install from cm12. two days being unrooted, no reboots; now running three days rooted, still no reboot. could be due to the clean install i did. lol.....

I also made a clean install of 5.1 using the factory image and formatting everything (from system to data and cache). Still I have the reboots. I come back to 5.0.2 (same procedure: clean install from factory image) and had no reboots in four days of use. Clean install of rastapop (5.1 based) or 5.0.2 -> 5.1 via OTA resulted in the same situation: The device reboots as soon as it goes to sleep.
I know several users installed 5.1 and have no issues, this is why I think this is a hardware problem put in evidence from the new software.
I hope someone find a way to deliver a 5.1 version that do not present the problem (I like how smoother 5.1 is w.r.t. 5.0.2). Perhaps a new kernel or a new rom as a whole.

I've given up on LP for the N7. I've gone back to KK. Stability is awesome, performance is great. LP was a disaster on the N7. Performance issues, lock ups, etc. No matter how many times I clean installed it, etc, it just wasn't good.
I'm now officially calling it Lollipoop (at least for the 2012 N7). But, it is an old device. I'm still waiting to see how it turns out on my LG G3 phone. I'm sticking with KK on that phone as well for now until I know for sure it runs well on it.
Stability over bleeding edge.
Hi
JFYI, I have just updated my 2 sons' N7 2012 (coming from Omnirom) to Lollipop 5.1 (with Nexus Root Toolkit v2.0.4, meaning following the same procedure)
- 1 of them fine
- 2nd one with the issue reported here; which is why I'm on this thread now
updated kernel to franco r82
the issue remains...
will keep checking this thread

So I can't post links yet because of my low number of forum posts but if you google 'nexus help after update to 5.1, it won't wake up after in sleep mode, please help' then it should be the first result that shows up.
Things were running fairly well for me with the slimkat 5.0.2 rom on F2FS so I'll likely switch back to that while this gets sorted out.
I've had my n7 for 2 years now, flashed all kinds of custom Roms, bricked it, fixed it, encrypted it, unencrypted it several times, and It has never ran as slow as it did on lollipop. I tried, 5.0, 5.0.2, and 5.1 I even reset kk to stock and let the ota's do the job and no matter what, LP is still not usable in my opinion. I feel sorry for the people that take the ota and do not know how to revert back to kk.

My old Nexus 5X has already died with the bootloop issue, now I don't want to my Nexus 6P to die too..
Should I downgrade it to marshmallow?
I know that most people are claiming this as an hardware issue, but I actually don't believe on it, since both 5X and 6P with two completely different brands are getting the same problem, at the same time.
I'm also thinking of moving to CyanogenMod 14.1 (Not sure if anything changes..)
Curently I'm on Stock 7.1.1 NMF26F + FLASH-N6P Kernel
No! Suit yourself, but I would simply upgrade to N4F26I and enjoy your phone. There is nothing wrong with running stock and you have a good kernel. Viva! Saúde!
Until it boot loops like so many of us have had happen. If you are in warranty, the company is swapping them out with little aggravation. If you are not in warranty then maybe you have a good point. I for one will be running RR 6.0.1 until some real info comes out. Once was enough for me.

You realize that CyanogenMod is dead and that there will be no further development? People have been having the boot loop problems with custom ROMs as well as stock. Mine bootloops every time I flash updates, switch ROMs or try to restore a backup. So far I've always been able to get out of it. If your bootloader is unlocked every boot loop isn't necessarily the boot loop of death. But if your bootloader is locked you have pretty limited options to try and fix the phone. If you feel more comfortable on Marshmallow then just stay on your current ROM. But if you are going to flash a custom ROM I would stay away from CyanogenMod.

CM will be replaced by Lineage OS.

Does anyone downgrade to Marshmallow?
Would you guys recommend me to do it?

Why do you say stay away from CM? It is actually very stable. I've had no issues with it besides the battery crap on N. The dedicated CM maintainers are working on Lineage OS still. They have released a few nightly builds, but not sure if they are going to try and get a automatic build server up and running again for the OTA nightly builds.

Lineage is starting from scratch. My understanding is that CM ceased to be open source after it was sold and Lineage can't simply update CM ROMs because that code is owned by the company that owns CM. There will be no more official development of current CM ROMs so I can't understand why anyone would want to use their ROMs. There are other ROMs that are in active development and are updated regularly so why not use them instead of CM?
I know this thread hour into the weeds regarding CM but in reference to downgrading, as I said before it's a judgement call. The boot loop of death does not appear to be happening on 6.0.1 so it's all about what you can deal with if it goes south on 7.x.x

Some people have said it has happened to them on MM. Not sure how true it is but who knows.

Lineage IS CM. It literally is only a name change. If you go to the GIT you'll see, or even go to the CM thread. It's just the company and name is dead. All the source files were moved by maintainers and it was all rebranded to be called LineageOS. They just no longer have the pockets to run things the way it used to be.
And as far as custom Roms go, they are all the same. They are all either based on AOSP, or the Stock(Google) firmware of the device. They all carry the same features that they renamed to whatever the name of the ROM is. That has always been the problem with stock Android devices.
I have a 6p that does not know Nougat yet, I'll stick to MM until further clarification.
No issues - latest MM, SuperSU 2.79, Xposed v87 and Franco v28.

Do some more research before releasing false information. Lineage OS isnt starting from scratch lol. Do you follow their threads or github? Cyanogen 7 was my first ROM on HTC Inspire...and it was BEASTMODE. They were pioneers on a digital frontier, and in my book OG. The name may be dead but Lineage is here to stay and they have all the OPENSOURCE code. Long live Cyanogen!!!!!
Well I downgraded as soon as the bootloop threads started to pop. Sorry to say it died in a week. Signs before the bootloop death, heat up, battery discharges rapidly, then whilst I was in a middle of a call, it rebooted to bootloop of death.

Bad news, and there isnt official answer from Google
I was running MM and never once upgraded to N or used any beta previews always on MM. And mine started the bootloop of death 2 days ago. So I would say no don't downgrade it won't improve your chances of avoiding it

That's actually good to know since the overwhelming majority of people on these threads seem certain that Nougat is to blame. Were you doing anything in particular when the boot loop hit?

Sorry for the late reply. I was not doing anything at all. It was sitting in a cup holder as I was driving and thats when I noticed it looping.

Until it boot loops like so many of us have had happen. If you are in warranty, the company is swapping them out with little aggravation. If you are not in warranty then maybe you have a good point. I for one will be running RR 6.0.1 until some real info comes out. Once was enough for me.

i do not understand what this thread is supposed to be about, are you people saying that a stock nexus 6p with no kernel mods or custom rom can just spontaneous go into a boot loop? and now people saying it can happen on MM and it is not just a N issue? or is this only for modded devices? or is it mainy something that ahppens on stock N?
my 6p has major battery issues and drains at about 1% per minute on stock MM, i need to RMA the phone now and it is on MM
i want to root it and install xposed so i do not want N , i found this thread looking to find out if a downgrade from N to MM is possible
so if my phone gets returned to me on N or if they send a new phone to me and it is on N, then am i stuck with N or can i downgrade in back to stock MM?
phone is not modded to root no TWRP no backup will i be able to get on MM if they return my phone on N or send a new one on N?
I have the habit of always asking on a new device no matter how much I think I know!
I have an xt1635-02 (I am US ATT Prepaid)(nano SIM) supposedly here tomorrow so I've been reading tons here.
However, it seems that a lot of the threads are aimed at rooting stock, which I never do.
As a rule, it's trivial:
[!] In this case it seems best to OTA update stock to 7.1.1 if it isn't already. I believe bootloader must be 7.x.x for doing custom Oreo ROMs . Since mine was 6.0 it took about 8 updates OTA and maybe 2 hours(wifi) .
[!]I go to moto site and do the unlock bootloader dance (already carrier unlocked supposedly).
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
[!]Then flash twrp-3.2.1-0-addison.img (Alberto97) using fastboot on my PC. (Ubuntu 17.10 dev 18.04 with adb and fastboot)(dual boot win7)
I do this twice in a row as I have experienced it not working the first time (dead android LOL).(OCD much??? )
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...recovery-unofficial-twrp-moto-z-play-t3495629
- - -
[!] -->then flash Alberto's verity patch mentioned at the top of his TWRP thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...recovery-unofficial-twrp-moto-z-play-t3495629
This modifies stock. Else your backups of stock won't boot. Learned this the hard way!
- - -
[!]Then use TWRP to backup (default settings) stock a couple of times and put copies of both on PC (via USB on stock).(or if for some reason my USB-C doesn't work, via wifi to my router using filezilla FTP and phone app: "wifi file transfer" by "DNL Media UG"(needs permission storage=on..) - I had to redo this twice - redo this twice - kept dropping back to stock recovery.
[!]Then flash the boot logo using fastboot on PC - I usually use TWRP for this but these that I found here are not set up to be TWRP flash compat so will just remove bin from zip and flash using PC. I think I have about 4 possibilities that I found on these threads. Nice! Easy.
[!]Then boot to TWRP and flash Alberto97's AOSP 8.1 arm64 ROM. Why that ROM you may ask. Been using mainly that Alberto97 ROM on my Moto G3 (32bit version of course), and love it. There's plenty of time to try all the others!!!
I usually consider 2 root options; SuperSU 2.82-SR5, or majisk 1520. (for future readers, these are the latest at this time.)(besides I'm very used to them.)
With SuperSU I have had no probs wiping all 4(Dalvik/ART, system, data, cache), flash ROM, flash 8.1 gapps, flash SUperSU, and boot to install.
With majisk I have sometimes had troubles during install if I flash majisk in the first batch so I tend to wipe all 4, flash ROM and gapps, and boot to install. Then when I finally hit desktop, boot back to TWRP and flash 1520 and reboot.
I need root to use TBPro - no restoring on first time with this 64bit ROM- got to do it the hard way!
SO I believe that's it, but if anyone sees a flaw or problem in there, I would appreciate your help.
Thanks!!!
yep look right, i would have added backup EFS and Modem partitions, if you want to be completely safe.
For now, open gapps 8.1 are only unofficial, i would feel a bit unsecure to use that, but it's only me.

Merci! Many thanks for looking in!!!
Yes, forgot to add that - did much xda search on the efs thing and best I found seemed to be a twrp-3.1.1-0-EFS-addison.img which I may very well flash first and do that since no other TWRP that I looked at offers backup efs. Official and squid2 derived (G3) don't. I assume Alberto's doesn't. Seems like I did it very manually on the G3. If you have it it's a pretty good guarantee that you'll never need it! (Murphy axiom)
As to unofficial gapps, I've been testing about 5 different 8.1 ROMs on the Moto G3 over the past couple months and if the gapps aren't built in to the ROM(some pixelexperience roms), all you can get is an unofficial gapps, or do a minor simple hack to an 8.0 so it will accept it. Usually devs will include it. Bless Alberto97 for not including it so I can select my own!!! But I've had no prob with gapps. Open gapps project has 8.0, but of course they won't work on a true 8.1 unless minor hack. I was planning on using open_gapps-arm64-8.1-aroma-20180109-UNOFFICIAL.zip (from https://cloud.kenzoroms.club/?dir=opengapps) unless you have a better idea. I wanted to grab camera from aroma(somebody's idea), but I also have about 5 other cameras and gcams waiting on the Sdcard that I want to test, simply because there seemed to be disagreement on what works on Alberto's new 8.1 build, so wanted to be able to report.
Thanks again!

Thanks for great link! yeah I think I used adb as well as an app last time. I'll add recovery this time so that's 3 backups on internal storage (and copied to PC) should be enough! (yes dear readers I am serious about this - 3 times! They are so tiny! And that pretty much guarantees I'll never need it, but if I do, it's childs play to get it back.)
Thanks!!!
If you're wondering about the delay, they sent me a -01 (Droid)(Murphy's law), so they paid for a UPS next day air label back to them(mailed at 4PM) - don't know if I'll get this going before Sat! Oh well!!! Never take these things too seriously!!! Gotta be costing them a chunk! I did briefly turn it on and stuck the SIM in it and it did show LTE on my ATT, but there's a few bands missing that are on the -02, so will wait. Pretty display, though!!! Really looking forward to it!!!

yes. stock 8.x is a no-no. This one that is coming is 6.0.1 So I will let it ota update to 7.1.1 after giving it a thorough check-out, then try unlocking it, etc. Sound right? I have no interest in any of the hardware-type addons, just the plain phone 3/32 octacore etc. Why this one? - I love the reception (radio) strength of Motos, plus a ton of other things. I stick with them. Plus it's all Albeto97's fault for deving on AOSP 8.1
Lol Alberto97's roms are buttery smooth!

I think they are. He recently came out with an 8.1 AOSP version for the Moto G3 and I love it. I test others, but that's my daily driver. Sure not perfect, but quite good enough for me!!! So I figure when I get it (Tues?) that's what I'll put on it. There's always plenty of time to test others!
Okay, since I am waiting for phone (Tues) , obviously I am worried about "what-if"s and so researching on what to do, "if".
I succeeded in finding a nice zip for 7.1.1 with the Nov security patch
https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto Z Play/Stock/
(I am US)(there are many others at that nice site!!!)
That took a lot of time.
Then I needed to be sure that I could get RSD lite to run, and tried and tried to no avail to get it to recognize my phone (even on my laptop) (I was testing with an old Moto G3 stock zip and my G3 phone) before some post gave me a version number much higher than at the RSD site. google gave me:
http://rsdlite.en.lo4d.com/
version 6.2.4, which worked perfectly.
I really need to write a short guide on this stuff - feels like I'm re-inventing the wheel, even though many folks have written much before I came along!
The reason for the above two is that for a while the last few days I kept running into folks who had taken 7 OTA and wound up with a bricked phone. So, yes, I just did a search for "brick" on xda in moto z play and will start reading them! LOL
Quick EDIT: I think I am wrong in that brick assumption - the first 3 I looked at involved encryption and 2 downgrades to MM (which is a no-no). I will read further.
edit2 - nevermind - most are downgrading to MM. Wish folks would just ask before doing that. That is a no-no of most (all?) phones. -

Please share your camera result using Alberto97's roms. I some ROM but i dont like camera result, i think stock ROM still better in camera.

I have no problem with various cameras getting good image, but sometimes on still first pic doesn't save. ( tried camera MX and Professional camera hd. I'm sure lots work about the same.)
Forgot to flash Alberto's verity patch right after flashing TWRP. So I had to RSD lite 7.1.1 Nov 1 and start over - no big deal! OP corrected.
Hello Kris,
I would like to ask for a link where I can download a working RSD so I can unlocked my bootloader.
