maybe dude, try to download CF-auto root for your device
Root would be useful if the phone can boot the ROM; otherwise, root would not be useful without a working ROM.

Well first of all, I'm not a pro in these particular situations, but how should I fix this error? My phone wasn't rooted when I got this error. There is no OS in my phone and I cannot install any custom ROM because of this error. ODIN always fails, I tried to install ROM using TWRP, but I get the same error. I read almost every article in this website and tried a lot of methods, but none of these didn't help me. Is there any more way I can fix it?
What point does Odin fail at .Nand Write ??

Almost every time it fails at hidden.img. I tried to fix that renaming "hidden.img" file to "hidden.img.tar", but it doesn't work.

try to unpack your md5 via 7zip or winrar or any other app in pc then remove the hidden.img then repack the others without the hidden.img then flash via odin. sorry for bad english, try to pm me for clearly explaination
what exactly is your model number? ill send you a file and try to flash it
My phone is Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F. I'm a little bit confused now When I have deleted that hidden.img file and flashed the other ones, I get the other odin fail on recovery.img. Did I ruin my efs partition? If I did that, when I somehow boot my phone, will I loose my IMEI and I won't be able to use my wifi and the other stuff? Thank you for help.

Well, sorry about that, I saw that this article is new so you could help for both of us, because we are facing the same problem.

I never had problems with flashing new firmware. But yesterday I thought to flash the newest stock rom I9505XXUFNC4, and I got:
Nand write start!
Complete(Write) operation failed.
After that, I cannot boot anymore until I flash a Pit file. I also tried to install TWRP, CWM and the last rom. Nothing, nothing and nothing. Now my root is gone and my wifi doesn't work anymore.
I'm scared that when I factory reset the thing, that I can't install a new rom. Can someone 'please' advice me what to do? For example, can I install stock rom with ADB?
I would re-download the stock firmware and try again. Maybe try an older version
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
I downloaded it a few times. And the other version was working fine. But as you can read in my post: I can't install anything but the pit file.

So, it'll boot only of you flash the pit first in Odin?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
When I try to flash something, I got that error. After that it's not booting anymore. 'Problem updating firmware' message. After flashing the pit, it's booting like normal.
I tried other USB ports and cable, as some people on the net ar suggesting, but that didn't worked.

Can you boot into recovery or download mode?
What recovery do you have installed?
I have a Galaxy S4 LTE-A E330SK and have had problems similar to that when trying to install an older firmware or same version on top of the version already on there. Recovery wouldn't boot, and if Android booted, everything would force close. (I like breaking my own phone just to see if I can fix it lol.)
Any time I had severe problems that would not enable me to boot or use Odin, I boot into Recovery, under Advanced, format System, Data, Cache, sdcard, media/sdcard and reboot. That erases everything (your operating system and everything on sdcard0) and if you are stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 logo, then you are good to go. Reboot into Download mode, connect your cable, and open Odin. (By the way I also found out you will get errors if you try to flash twice in a row without closing and reopening Odin, so keep that in mind.)
This I would consider a clean install of Android.
Now for the iffy part... Everybody says do NOT check the repartition box when you flash the new ROM. But what I do is make sure I have the correct PIT file for my firmware version. Add PIT file under PIT in Odin, add your firmware md5 file under PDA (or AP,) tick repartition, untick Auto-Reboot (my E330SK would automatically revert back to stock recovery with Auto-Reboot selected.) F Reset Time ticked, and Start. You should have no errors now.
There might be a better way without having to format those filesystems I've stated, but haven't found it. This way has always gotten me out of a sticky situation.
Keep in mind as well, I have never been able to downgrade to an older version of Android. So recommended if you try this do it with the same firmware or newer version that is currently on your phone.

Might I mention I am using CWM Recovery as well
Yeah but I tried to install a new version and tried afterwards the current version on my phone. Tried as I already stated, several things to install and the only thing I could install, was the pit file.
Yesterday I installed CMW with Heimdall method. That worked. After that I install root from within CMW with ADB. And because I got an old backup, I didn't wanna go back that far and only flashed (with ADB) boot.img. Now I got a working phone.
I really want to update to latest firmware, but I'll try after the weekend. Don't want my weekend to be headached
Anyway. Thx for your response!

After trying and trying and trying, finally one of the USB ports let me push the new firmware (NC9) to my phone! (with Odin). After that my sd-card was unmounting itself all the time and giving errors as filesystem not recognized and being blank. Location methods didn't work correct etc.
Yesterday I managed to flash the NC4 firmware, and all is working well now!

Please help!!!!
I have a SM-G900F S5.
Just updated to XXU1BNL9 Lollipop.
Not clean install, I upgraded it. All official releases from Sammobile, done with Odin 3.09.
Upgrade went all ok, fine, up & running.
Tried to install TWRP 2.8.4.0, also with Odin 3.09
10/10 times it fails with write error.
Any ideas???
Would like to root my phone, so this first step would be really necessary!
Thx!
I fixed Odin fail with a pit file...
Download pit fie for your device...
Open Odin... Flash firmware
When Odin fail... Unplug cable... Plug it back... Uncheck that box with pda (and leave it there) ... Load pit file... And hit start even if the error is still there... After U hit start button It should finish and auto reboot
I USED THIS METHOD JUST FOR FIRMWARE FAIL... I DON'T KNOW IT WILL WORK WITH CWM FAIL in Odin
Also... You should try to download again twrp... Or another source... Version... Etc im sure that the error it's because of the cwm file

Thx for the ideas, I will try them.
I tried to unplug-replug cable, download other TWRP, also from different sources.
Seems as if it was some writing authentication issue of some kind - but no idea, why.

I tried everything else expect the pit file.
I did not find a pit file for the XXU1BNL9 version.
Also, I did not find ClockworkMod for Lollipop, only for 4.4.x
So, I triedTWRP 2.8.1.0 and 2.8.4.0 - both ending the same way: The recover flashing starts with Odin, and then it is almost immadiately fails with some write problem. It seems as if the recovery tar.md5 is not compatibl with the ROM version, or as if some mysterious Samsung protection would reject the recovery flash.
Strange thing is, that all forums (e.g. droidviews, ibtimes, xda, etc.) give a description about rooting this ROM, and not even one mentiones any phenomenon like this.
Good night guys, so there's my problem:
I was on DN 0.6.1 custom ROM, TWRP 3.0.2.0 and rooted. Today, i wanted to go back to stock ROM, so, I downloaded the stock firmware throught sammobile, and tried to install it throught ODIN 3.11, but it's stopped at system.img, and remained stuck in it for a long time. so i decided to restart the phone..
Then it's showed the follow message:
firmware upgrade encountered an issue note 4. Please select recovery mode on kies and try again.
So, i tried to re-flash throught ODIN, but stucked at system.img again, after it, I downloaded KIES and tried restore it, but it's stopped at 2%.
I wasn't abble to go to recovery mode, only download mode, so, i extracted the ROM file, and flashed only the boot.img through ODIN. Now it's boot to recovery...
I wiped data/cache, but the following error showed up:
E: Failed to mount system (invalid argument).
and now i can't find a solution for it.. tried to do amost anything that i could find on the internet, but none solved my problem...
I'm wanting to flash PIT + CSC + PDA file, using the repartition option on ODIN, but i'm afraid that may brick my phone for ever...
I'm following this tutorial by now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note...-t-w8-t3282641
And i need this CSC file, because my phone is the C version, could someone give me link to download it ? couldn't find in any place.
ANd there's someone who could help me ? i'm very concerned about it because i don't have money to buy another phone at the moment...
Thanks, and yes, already looked at XDA for a answer but couldn't fine any.
THANK YOU
csc file

First, thread belongs in Help section not Dev.....
Second, are you sure you downloaded the right firmware from SamMobile? If restore in TWRP works, partitions most likelyaren't jacked up.

Are you sure it's system.img not hidden.img? I ran across something after attempting ODIN flashes starting a few version back.
You need to re remove hidden.img from tar file and flash it separate. Sucks but it's been working for me.

Hi dear xda members
I have got a real situation here and need your assistance, here is full details:
I tried to flash latest baseband for N9005 I couldn't find one (Im realy sick for having latest things on my android)So what did i do? I downloaded latest firmware from updato.com and compared it to a older baseband and created a tar file same as baseband (extracted aboot.mbn,modem.bin,NON-HLOS.bin,rpm.mbn,sbl1.mbn,sdi.mbn,tz.mbn and repacked them using winrar into .tar format and added md5 at the end it was very dumb action i had forgotten that md5 is used in stock roms for verifying identity) so I shouldn't made baseband my self
Well, things didn't go well as i expected then odin failed and yes... The phone is messed up. I tried wiping everything and also tried flashing my previous rom and also stock rom using odin it didn't help here is the log of twrp:
Unable to mount /data and find crypto fotter
Unable to mout /data/media
Unable to read data/twrp/twrps.s
Unable to mount storage while booting GUI (I think)
And also after wiping this message adds plus pervious one:
Unknown mtp message type:1
If i remembered correctly
Also,I tried command prompt in twrp by trying to format by using mke2fs method using this quote i found here:
Quote:

Make sure data is umounted then run this command. Make sure you have charged it as well or leave it plugged in.
It can take a number of hours to complete.
Code:
mke2fs -T ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p8
It didn't work here it said:
Unable to allocate 994 bytes (I think) from system. Do you have space in /system?
So it didn't work either and at last I tried repartion using pit file in odin I found some pit files but none of them didn't work for my note3:
Baseband:N9005XXUGBPB1
I used microsd one time to flash rom but it is not possible to do that i found that if i get back to stock recovery and factory reset it may help but I couldn't copy any files into microsd (copying stops at the middle) so I changed microsd it didn't help
So is there anything i didn't tried? If possible offer me an appropriate pit file or whatever can help.
Help me!HELP!

Yes I'm sure I'm flashing full stock Rom but since /data and storage won't mount so I think that's why I can't flash Roms. Can you provide me an appropriate Pit file? Because I didn't found one. I used Sam mobile and it said this baseband belongs to Netherlands(PHN). Thank you in advance
I don't have PIT files .

Hello friends.
Today I wanted to load the stock rom on the s7 edge phone.
First I turned off the phone. I opened the twrp and unfortunately I deleted the whole system with the operating system. Trying to open the phone gives an error saying 'An Error Has Occured While Updating Device'. Unfortunately I can not use the Smart Switch. Then I tried to install a new rom with Odin. img part. I could not load the system.img part in any way. I wish I could help you very much.

If your aim is to return phone to original format and ROM, download the ROM for one your device from sammobile.com and flash it with Odin by putting phone into download mode.
Make sure you get the right ROM by searching for ROM on sammobile with your device model name
