Show Weather Icon in Second Screen (like V10)? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know how to get the weather to show in the second screen on the V20? A friend has the V10, and they get a nice little icon of the current weather to the left of the time and date. I want this on my V20, but there's no discussion on this on the internet anywhere. Having the temperature might be nice also, but I'll settle for just the icon.
I've attached a promo image of the V10 showing exactly what I'm talking about.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Attachment didn't work. Link to replace attachment failed too! Ugh. Please try this link: http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p291/darksoulseed/LG-V10-Second-Screen-cameras_zpsgrkowsyh.jpg See to the left of the date "Thu 1" there is a sun icon. This is what I am talking about.

When is this weather displayed?
When screen is off and the time and date is displayed in the second screen.
Or are you mistaking it for the pull down notification bar?

That would be nice to have temperature in second screen...

Correction to a previous comment.......
You can get an icon or the temperature to show on the second screen.
Install and run a weather app that will follow weather in status bar.
Basically, the app will create a icon and always on notification in the notification bar. So than when the phone is off you will still get the icon or temperature showing in the second screen left of the time and date.
I have weather bug installed and just tried it. Weather bug displays the temperature. Other weather apps may display a weather icon.

Sorry for not replying sooner, for some reason I was not getting notifications of replies like I normally do.
Also, sorry my attachment and follow up link did not work. I can see how that would lead to some miscommunication. I have fixed it now. This is the right link: http://s131.photobucket.com/user/da...10-Second-Screen-cameras_zpsgrkowsyh.jpg.html This is a promo image of the LG V10. The second screen is "sliced out" of the phone to show off what it can do. The second "slice out" shows four icons on the far left, then a gap, then the weather icon, then the date and time (Thu 1 09:38PM). This is EXACTLY what i want to see on my LG V20. Specifically when the main screen is off.
Anyways... No, I specifically meant the second screen, not the notification bar. I just tried Weather Bug, and it does indeed show the temperature in the notification bar when the main screen is ON. And when the main screen is OFF it shows in the second screen. This is nice, but I really want the weather icon. Anyone know a way to get this?
I feel like this is an oversight on LG's behalf. If it worked on the V10, why not make it work on the V20?

I remember that icon.
I went to LG web site. Its pretty clear that they removed the weather icon from the date and time while screen off.
You'll have to use a third party app with notification to come close to replicating what your looking for.

Weather underground will display the temperature on the second screen when it's off.

Weatherbug also displays the temp on the second screen when its off

Just wonder what is the battery consumption with those apps.

Yahoo weather works fine for me with temp displayed on a second screen (on a left)!

Very little consumption about 1% in comparison to screen's 25-30% (on a top of the list)!

Weather channel app also puts the temperature in the second screen when the main screen is off... But only the temp no other icon.

I personally use WeatherBZ. It's based on the MIUI weather widget, and runs pretty well. Keeps the temp in the second screen much like the aforementioned do, very nice little app, no noticeable battery drain on my end either.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm honestly far less concerned about the temperature. I know a couple ways to get it now if I want it. What I really want though is the weather icon like in the V10 promo image.

Maybe it's just GoogleNow notification? I get those time to time then temps suddenly drops or raises 5+ degrees F.

Oh yeah that case caught my eye as soon as i saw it

Hmmm, I have Google Now but I have Nova set as my home launcher. I usually just like Google Now for the "OK Google" voice commands. So anyways, I've gone into Google Now to see if I can use it for weather on the second screen, but it's not working... even though I am getting the weather in my usual pull-down notification.
Anyone know more about Google Now and can maybe suggest something I can try with it?

Do you see Weather card in Google Now if you open it by holding Home button? Supposed to be the first one. And here's the point I always see notification from Google App like "53F in Berkeley" as a pulldown notification BUT only if weather changes (i.e. by more than 5F or storm comes in suddenly) I get extra notification which appears on a second screen while main screen is off!
Sidenote: This icon on a second screen might be a cute one but not very informative! You can see if it's sunny, cloudy or rainy from your window, right? I'd better know how cold or hot it is outdoors at the moment and folks listed several nice options above...

Hmmm, this sounds promising. Would you be able to take a photo of yours showing this? The weather here is not changing much for the next few days (REALLY hot and gross!).

Prevent "stacking" of alerts and notifications - how?

I'd like to prevent my notifications and program "badges" (can't think of the proper word!) From stacking up in my notification bar at the top of the screen.
It happens when i have a lot of icons there already, ie wifi, alarm etc. Despite there being plenty of room in the middle of the bar, my notifications all stack into one icon on the extreme left hand side with the number of different programs/notifications shown as a number.
Is there a way to prevent this behaviour and force android to use all the available space on the notification bar?
I'm running Ion r2 on my Dream, although my phone has always done this, with the stock rom and JF 1.5 as well.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer!
Sure, keep the number of notifications low and they won't stack. They stack when you run out of space on the bar. I know you think that there's lots of space, but if you unstack them, rest assured that there are definitely too many to fit in the space available.

Unfortunatly there is no forseen solution to this problem. I experience it as well. I think the best we can hope for are new phones with higher resolutions.

This isn't right. There is definitely space for 4 more icons, yet it stacks with just 2.

When the phone is in portrait mode it stacks when there are more than 2 items on the left hand side - even though there is space for more items. When in landscape, it shows all the notifications/app icons individually.
Very annoying, since the home screen will only display in portrait mode and wont auto rotate when the phone is turned.
Im convinced there must be something i can do to fix this issue!

I was talking about portrait mode. I'm pretty sure there's a fix since I do not have this problem. However, my home screen does rotate though, since I have dxTop.
Do you happen to have Quick Calendar installed? Even though Quick Calendar did not display a little icon on the top for each item in the list and only say in my "ongoing" area on the bar, when I removed it the stacking you talk about went away! It was driving me crazy too, but it seems like either Quick Calendar or the OS sees each entry, even though it doesn't have an icon and counts them.
Not sure if it will help you, but my phone has been working properly after I disabled Quick Calendar. It's a shame, I like the app. :-/

Genius! Removing Quick Calendar solved the problem - thanks!
I've put a link to this thread at the devs website - perhaps when he has solved the issue he could let us know, so we can go back to using his otherwise useful app.
Never had this type of problem, only thing is that my colors blend together because of the custom theme I am using >.<
Ok, I confirmed with the developer this morning, it is QuickCal, though I guess any other app that hides icons would also have this problem as it is a restriction in the os. Jim (the developer) works for google and plans to petition his employer to make some changes to the way the notify bar works. The os allows the developer to 'hide' notification icons, but they still take up an invisible space.
We should see an update in the next couple of days to make a nicer widget with more info and smaller font size, so this may satisfy me if the widget is decent.

HTC clock widgets constantly fidgeting

Does it bother anyone else that whenever you switch back to the home screen, the clocks reset the hands and do the little animations to spin to the correct location? The flip clock does it like it used to in TF3D too, the numbers flip over until they catch up. It seems such a waste of time and cpu cycles. I've tried the default Android clock and it is much calmer, it is always at the correct time regardless of whether you switch back or not. The down side is it isn't as attractive and doesn't take you to the clock app when you press on it.
Anyone else annoyed by this?
Indeed I find it a little annoying...not tried the different clock....
one question, are you able to change the type of clock on your profile?
I seem to be only be able to select different front clocks under different profiles (Scenes) so you are stuck with that clock for that scene?

You can just remove it, then add an HTC Widget and select 1 of 12 clocks (think its 12)

I also found that when I changed my clock to the small one (so it still fits in the same space on the home screen), my Hero became much more responsive. It still adjusts the time with an animation every time I go to the home screen, but it seems way better. Others have suggested removing the People widget, but for me it was just a change of the clock.
Bugs the hell out of me, so much so I had to remove it.
Hope the new update fixes this problem.

It is a fault, the clock widgets can't store the time. So everytime you enter the idle screen it updates the clock.

I don't believe it's a fault either, judging by the way it is animated. It is just designed not to update whilst not visible.
Regards,
Dave
Most if not all of the HTC clock widgets do the animation.
However, on the leaked video of the new speedier ROM, I notice the clock never updates like that, even though it is the big one with weather combined. It just changes immediately, so maybe that is part of the speed up...
i use the smallest one, digital, but not a flip. number 5 i think it is.
yes, if you look closely you can see it update when you go back to the homescreen, but it is so fast, most of the time i don't notice it, and i'm certainly not gonna sit there trying to see it happen, cos it's really not that important to me...
Maybe they added a setting to enable / disable clock animation ?
Hope so as I quite like it.
On the CDMA Hero there seems to be a bug... IN the Clock app, home location and current location show the correct time but most HTC clock widgets insist on displaying the GMT time. What's up with this?

How To Remove Lock Screen Widgets (Clock)

Hey guys I've got another question. Does anybody know how to remove the clock from the lock screen?
I've gone through Setting>My Device>Lock Screen and have everything turned off.
I've even downloaded an app called "Lockscreen Policy" which has an option to disable Widget and/or Camera, I've switched both of them off as well. I don't remember the app saying anything about needing root to work.
Really annoying that the stupid clock is covering my Lock Screen Wallpaper especially when the Notification Bar is on the Lockscreen and that has a clock on it anyway.
Thanks in advance.

If you swipe down from the clock it will expand the widget. You can then long press it and drag it to the trash can that appears at the top of the screen.
Be aware, though, that if you do not have any widget there you will just see a screen with a big "+" sign asking you to add a new widget and once the phone locks the clock widget will reappear. The only way to get it to go away permanently is to replace it with a different widget.
Hope this helps.

hide lock screen clock Android 4.3
Hey guys,
I recently got a Note 3 discovered that you cannot remove the lock screen clock. Simply doesn't allow you the option to.
But I found a way to hide it using the "personal message" feature.
Turn personal message on in the lock screen options menu.
Simply uncheck the clock and date boxes and space across a single character (as it won't allow you to have no text but will allow you a space which is invisible anyways..) and then hit save.
So then the next time you go to wake up your phone the lock screen clock will be gone!
I really don't like the way you are literally forced to have a lock screen clock!?!?
I often change my lock screen and desktop wallpapers and don't like the screen to be cluttered with text I don't want to see..
I have only tested this method on my Galaxy Note 3 so I am unsure if this will work on other Android phones..
Also what I have found strangely enough is normally there would be a half to one second lag for the display to sleep when I lock the phone.
This lag seems to have all but gone now that I specified a personal message (even though its blank) and hid the clock & date. Bonus!!
Hope this helps. Apologies if this has been previously covered..
Have fun!

I found a work around of sorts for this. It's not perfect but, it works decent. You'll need to get the free app called "Battery Mix" from the Google Play Store.
After install, go into the app settings (icon style wheel (top right)->settings button will appear underneath). The very first setting at the top will be for the Notification Icon. It will say: "Remaining battery icon displayed in the status bar". Make sure this is checked. Then choose an icon style to appear in the status bar if you haven't already. I prefer the Round Rectangle one, personally.
Keep in mind, if you have a lot of uncleard notifications, it may not show in the second screen until you do so.
This app also has a very nice battery alarm feature that allows the app to notify you by notification and sound (even vibration and your phone LEDs) when your phone reaches or drops to certain charge level percentages. This is very handy to remind you to either plug in the charger, or unplug to prevent overcharging. All the best! LGman
One would think that after 8 years in the wild, Android would allow you to have JUST the battery percentage on the status bar. We can't even hide the stock icon without the help of an app or root. Sad really.

And it's not as if they can't, Samsung proved that with their Note 7 where an update changed the battery icon to green
Persistent notification icon + a tasker task that'll only keep the notification active during screen lock will work. It'll take approximately 13 hours to get it to work properly and not bug out, but once you go through that arduous process for a negligible improvement you'll feel satisfied.
But seriously - this is the only way I can see you getting it done. I'm annoyed that the goddamned STOCK clock app won't show a timer on the 2nd screen, which is such an oversight it kills me.
Well, you could just install nova launcher and hide notifications bar and ta daaaa. Time, signal, and battery w/ percentage in 2nd screen. Your welcome. Lol.

i've been trying to find a way to do this as well. glad to see i'm not alone. i thought maybe an xposed module would do it..
It isn't perfect, but I did make a Tasker flasher for the 2nd screen that displays the current battery % every 10 seconds. Instructions on how to get it into Tasker are in the first post (the instructions are for a different ticker, but they apply to all of them).

In that topic, I also have a new text message (done) and a missed call (possibly WIP) flasher too.

One would think that after 8 years in the wild, Android would allow you to have JUST the battery percentage on the status bar. We can't even hide the stock icon without the help of an app or root. Sad really.

I'm confused, I can always get battery percentage to appear on the status bar of all my android phones. It's just unchecked in battery settings.
This thread was about putting it on the second screen which I don't believe is more than 2 years (still plenty of time though).
The second screen is useless to me. They should make it E-Ink or OLED, saves battery.
I rather have a notification light. Unless i'm using it wrong?

This small little app works for me.

You missed the keywords "just the percentage" as in.. hide the battery icon and only have percentage showing... Without the use of an app or root. And it was a generalized statement pertaining to either the main screen or the second.

Well, you could just install nova launcher and hide notifications bar and ta daaaa. Time, signal, and battery w/ percentage in 2nd screen. Your welcome. Lol.

If you do that then you can't scroll the second screen anymore. At least in my version of Nova.

Yeah. Your right. That's why I disabled it.
Second screen was a brilliant idea. But they came so short on modifications.

Why does my Moto G4 Plus have a weird preview of other apps?

This is kind of hard to explain but whenever I use my phone, no matter what app is open, or when I'm on the homescreen, some apps kind of show transparently on my display like it almost looks like the current app being used is translucent that I can see the other app? I can't really explain this properly. Screenshots don't show what I'm talking about.
It shows up at the very sides and top portion of the screen. It also shows when I bring down my notification shade. The grey part at the top which is supposed to be completely grey, still shows the battery icon, time, notification icons, signals, Wi-Fi indicator, etc. but very translucent. As if the grey quick toggles thing is translucent.
Again, screenshots dont capture the thingy. So I'm sure it's an issue and not intentional by Motorola.
It's screen burn issue. It has been discussed numerous times check through the forum for more help.

Install this, set on 5% black and after a while the burn images are gone. (keep the app on all the time, the one that I linked to is the one with less battery usage, from the 4 I tested)

As mentioned above by @Gero71 , use the app or visit the service center and ask them for a display replacement. That would be a permanent fix hopefully. :good:

I've seen some people complaining about the same issue after they've replaced their screens. It will still occur no matter what.
And, the app you're making me install, is just a screen filter. I use it all the time. Lowering the brightness doesn't fix the screen burn. It just makes it less prominent. But it is still there.
