how do delete this virus?
If it were my phone, I would perform a factory reset or flash a stock ROM and reset before booting the ROM for the first time.

As per thread title, I was wondering if performing a factory reset removes root? I do not yet have a custom recovery, and the local stock KitKat OTA update is going out soon. I was considering holding off on the custom recovery and taking the OTA update, but my understanding is that doing so rooted will cause problems so I'm not about to try.
Basically, just how "reset" is the "factory reset" - and do the factory reset options in the Settings>Backup and Reset do the same thing as the Factory Reset from Power+VolDown boot?
root stays
Um, I'm pretty sure you lose root.
Your phone gets reset to factory default, which is no root...
And yes, it's the same as doing it from stock recovery or from the settings
I've upgraded to 5.02, so now if I do a factory reset, will the phone load the kitkat it came with or lollipop?
Lollipop.
Thanks

when you flash a custom recovery the phone deletes the old recovery and applies the new one, the only way to change that is to reflash the recovery with another rom or the stock rom
Hi,
yesterday I decided to install new ROM - Cyanogenmod 12.1 on my Galaxy S4 only for tests. Before that I done backup with every partitions:
boot
system
data
cache
EFS
I'm using TWRP 2.8.7.0 recovery
After tests I restored my backuped ROM, but unfortunately OS doesn't work, I cannot even put my PIN code. Every time I see pop-ups with apps stoped working.
What I am doing wrong or how can I restore properly my old OS.
You may have to perform a factory wipe after restoring your old ROM or you may need to flash stock recovery to perform a factory wipe.
Hello,
I am currently running Nuclear Rom 7.1.2 on my zuk z1 with TWRP recovery. What if I do factory reset of my phone, will the phone stays the same with rom, gapps and super su and all the data will be wiped
OR
it will remove the root and get the phone back into its proper shape
OR
will it brick my device
I am asking if I do factory reset from Settings -Back up and reset - Factory reset
I am selling my phone in the market so want to confirm that what would be the scenario if I wipe my data like that

Click to collapse
Better to flash it again and wipe all data

fastboot cos and sell or flash any official n rom with ota.
Nougat 7.0, twrp-3.2.3-0.
When factory reset from the operating system "prior to reset I remove security lock & google account", the phone boots into twrp recovery at the main home screen. Isn't "if I recall correctly" twrp suppose to jump to the cmd window and do auto factory reset when performing factory reset from the OS?
Something is wonky with my phone which I did a fastboot cmd fresh install of nougat using this guide here https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/xt1575-moto-x-pure-edition-factory-t3704142
after a few weeks of rooting, installing apps and using the phone, I went into system settings/apps and found two theme layers I did not install on this fresh install of nougat but had previous install of the OS, also I found that advance download manager app is not intercepting download links as it should which in the previous install of nougat had the same problem "hence the reason of factory reset and FR did not work so I fastbooted all the nougat files found in above link guide" so I am thinking for some reason that factory reset/fresh flash of the OS that some settings and apps are not getting a reset.
I am probably the only one with these weird phenomenons but just wondering if anyone else have ran into anything like this and I am looking for a solution or recommendation.
So.
1)Factory reset from the OS suppose to auto factory reset from twrp from a cmd window thingy?
2)Anyone run into these weird phenomenons?
What I ended up doing is fastboot flashed all new nougat moto files to my phone, booted into system and did a factory reset, flashed twrp, all is working great now.
