Anyone else has 4G icon randomly appear when connect to wifi? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

As the title. Does your AT&T Samsung s7 edge get the random 4G signal appear when on WiFi? Only happens with home wifi and it's super annoying. Never happened on t-mobile s7 edge. Any suggestions?

I believe if you have download booster on the phone then uses data and wifi to speed up downloads.

Does anybody know what this icon means?

It appears occasionally in my notification bar but I don't know what it means. It looks like a house with Wi-Fi coming out of the top maybe?

not sure what network you are with but it could be viop or phone is acting as hotspot, just a guess.
Could it be Miracast?
I don't have Miracast enabled devices at home, so I'm just guessing...
Cheers!
I don't think I have any miracast devices on my network and I'm definitely not in mobile hotspot now. Running on Verizon

Do you have a Verizon Network Extender?
Nope... maybe someone in my building does though. I'll check what I'm connected to next time it comes up

What I meant to say I still need the data but the gsm only network I'm after, because in the area i working barely have any 3g or hsdpa network. And because the constant network scanning barely have any network.
Sorry for my misunderstanding. I'm wondering if this is not linked to the setup of your provider. They may decided 2G (Edge) is no more available.
In my case the 2G option is still working and when I set it the GN3 works in Edge :-\

Wifi and data switch off randomly.

Have noticed about once a day at random times, my wifi and data signal will disappear when using the phone. I have to switch airplane mode on and back off to get my connections back. Not a major Issue, but slightly annoying.
Anyone else have this problem or know the cause?

I'm having an issue where my wifi icon disappears but I'm still connected to wifi. Also, the toggle is grayed out. Pretty annoying. I'm on the Sprint GS5.

The toggle is greyed out on mine too and cannot switch it back on. The only difference is that I loose wifi and network connection. Mine is o2 UK unbranded handset.
Update: my connections are still active when this happens.

I'm getting the same thing here, the data and wifi icons occasionally disappear and the wifi toggle goes dark (as if it's not connected), but I'm still connected and get data just fine.
Do you reckon this is a hardware or software fault?

I did install adblock (unrooted) for about 30 minutes and then removed it when I first got my phone. Not sure if the problem started before or after.

It didn't happen yesterday so will wait for next samsung update and see if that solves the problem. Unless it gets worse then I will factory reset.
update : shortly after I posted this it happened again so I tested the connection and I was still connected to wifi.

Keeps losing LTE data!

Nexus 6p on nougat 7.0 every once in a while the LTE symbol disappears and I have no data. Only fix is to reset phone! Tried toggling cellular data, and toggling airplane mode, sonar it's worked once to return data. Otherwise power cycle returns data. Anyone else experiencing this! Phone is refurbished but has been working great. Just trying to figure out if this is software or hardware related....thanks.

Same here!
Via Nexus 6P
Every few days i see H+ but that's about it. No loss of data here and on Nougat 7.0
Did you do a Factory Reset after you updated? If you didn't I would recommend that if it persists.
LTE issues has been around for a long time. What carrier are you all using?

T-Mobile....yes did factory reset.

I am on Nougat and my reception has decreased. I am on AT&T and I'll be on H+ while an iPhone right next to me will be 4G with 3 out of 5 bars. Something is up with the radio on Nougat........

On T-Mobile here as well having the same issue, LTE will disappear and I'll get a notification saying Data Service is blocked and a reboot fixes it for a bit then I lose service again.
Mine in T-Mobile was doing it too...

Those LTE issues were fixed (for most anyway) a few security updates ago.

Am on the latest version of N and have been experiencing the LTE drop on AT&T for quite some time, even on previous versions of M.
Now my.freaking texts are starting to not go thru. Random. Only cure reboot. So battery sucks, losing data, and texts randomly fail. Ugh! I want a mr1 or marshmallow back!

The software itself yes, but carrier wise no.
T-Mobile has been having ongoing LTE issues for some time now in some areas. When I had my Note 5, had to constantly reboot to get LTE or any other data connectivity back.
I think it's only the T-Mobile and Project Fi (T-Mobile side) are having issues still.

Same here and when it happens, i use app lte on off app. Easy.
I have this same problem on TMO. If I try to use any radio higher than 2.50 (have tested all the way up to 3.75) my data will suddenly drop completely out of nowhere and not come back until I reboot. There seem to be certain areas near me that always make this happen when on those radios. I wonder if this is a regional issue or a hardware issue, doesn't seem to affect that many people.
I've also been dealing with issue. I'm almost certain it's an issue just with T-Mobile and maybe the phone communicating with towers. Went to d.c. not too long ago and didn't experience any issues but the same day I retuned to Pittsburgh the issue returned

My stock 7.1.1 6p on t-mobile has just recently been having this issue. I was considering factory resetting but my wife's 6p sometimes has the same issue so maybe it's t-mobile. But why would rebooting fix it? Is this still a problem for other people?

This issue seems to be occurring to me as well. T-mobile is my carrier. It is really annoying since the only way out is to hard reboot the phone. You can't go into airplane mode and turn it off to get a signal like normal. Not quite sure what the issue is. It has happened on both stock and flashed roms. I have tried to see look at a logcat of the problem but it is a bit above my technical understanding.
I'm on the latest radio and bootloader and the problem is still occurring.
I think it happens when:
- Going away from wifi-coverage
- Going into area with poor cellular coverage
It's possible that being on 2G/3G may avoid the issue, but of course the speed sucks. I just tried going on 2G/3G and toggled wifi a few times. So far, mobile data is still ok. But the instant I enable LTE, mobile data is loss. Switching down to 2G/3G doesn't help. So another possible cause is:
- Switching from 2G/3G
My guess is that there is a bug with the LTE code on the phone that got introduced with a recent update.
Has been happening recently to me too as of last week. Random connection dropping for a few seconds. Usually, it will reconnect quickly and it'll show full signal, then it might die, or it might stay connected.

I have lg g6 h870ds

I live in NYC and have TMobile account. When I got the phone and connected it was only connecting to 3g . I switch the setting to allow LTE and it now connects to 4g with good speeds. But for some reason whenever I reboot my phone or change setting where LTE is not enabled ,phone doesn't connect to 3g anymore but only to 2g . Does anyone know what happened ?
BTW I already tried to reset the phone
Thanks for any information

I thought I read that this model will lose the network setting every time the phone is restarted. You have to go into network settings and re-select 4G LTE. I'm thinking of getting this model for use on AT&T. Try resetting the network preference and let us know what happens.

It does loose it's connection after reboot but at first it would switch to 3g and stay there, about few weeks after owning device it only switches to 2g as if no 3g available

That's odd. And nothing has changed since you bought it? When you reboot the phone and it defaults to 2G, if you then change it to 4G LTE manually, will it stay on 4G LTE until the next reboot?

It stays on 4g without issues but stopped connecting to 3g after reboot. I know it's not much but now when I make a call 4g switches to 2g and it takes longer the usual for call to go through .

i suspect this has something to do with your simcard/network. i have the H870DS, and i got 4G+/LTE out of the box with a Koodo (in Canada) sim. nothing changes with reboot.
