Using the following method I was able to successfully ROOT my H830 running stock 20A NOUGAT. With this root method you will get TWRP Recovery and SuperSU. This method WILL wipe your internal storage, so please BACKUP!
Your warranty is now void. I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, or lost photographs.
Please do some research if you have any concerns about root!
I used jcadduono's method which he describes on the V20 forum [Easy Recowvery ALL CREDITS TO THE AUTHOR. PLEASE GO RATE HIS THREAD AND CLICK THANKS IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU!] https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/h918-recowvery-unlock-v20-root-shell-t3490594
1. Bootloader Unlock
For this method to work you must have an unlocked bootloader. Despite the fact that I already had an unlocked bootloader, after the upgrade to stock N, jcadduono's script failed to work initially and gave me an error message saying my bootloader was locked. To fix this I had to manually relock and unlock my bootloader one more time. Unlocking/Locking your bootloader will wipe the internal storage of the devices so backup before this step. If you however, already have an unlocked bootloader, feel free to skip this step and go on, although in the end you might have to return to it if you get a "bootloader locked" message in the Recowvery script. If you do skip these steps, don't forget to download the LG Drivers from below.
1. Download and install the latest LG Drivers from HERE
2. Download the minimal adb and fastboot tool from HERE. I recommend the portable version, which you can extract to your desktop.
3. On your phone, go to Developer Options and turn on Enable OEM Unlock.
4. Enter fastboot mode: Turn off your device, press and hold the volume down button, while holding the volume down button connect your phone to your computer by USB, continue holding the volume down button until your device enters into fastboot mode.
5. On your computer go to the folder which you extracted in step 2. Open a command window by holding down SHIFT, right clicking with you mouse inside the folder, and selecting "Open command window here"
6. In the command window type "fastboot oem unlock" to unlock your bootloader, this will erase all of your data.
7. Type "fastboot reboot" to reboot to system.
2. Installing TWRP using Recowvery
Prior to this step I HIGHLY recommend factory resetting your device, if you just unlocked your bootloader, your device was automatically factory reset so you are good to go. Once your phone turns on after a factory reset, I suggest signing into your google account and setting up your phone as if you are going to use it, we will not be factory resetting after this step. However do not download any apps or mess with the settings yet, you can do that later, once your device is successfully rooted.
1. On your computer, download Recowvery from HERE and extract the folder to your desktop.
2. Now on your phone enable USB Debugging in Developer Options.
3. Connect your phone to the computer and make sure File Transfer is chosen in the "Use USB connection for" pop-up.
4. On your computer, download the latest version of TWRP: H830 or H850
5. Rename the downloaded file to "recovery.img" and place it on your phone's internal storage [/storage/emulated/0]
6. On your computer, open the Recowvery folder you extracted in step 1, and click on EasyRecowvery.
7. Once there, type option "5" and "ENTER", in the "Extras and Advanced Tools Menu" disable integrity verification by typing option "7" and "ENTER". Return to the main Menu of Recowvery by typing option "0" and "ENTER"
6. After disabling integrity verification, run the exploit by choosing option "1"
7. Follow the prompts in Recowvery, your phone should reboot about two times in the process.
8. DO NOT Wipe Cache while in TWRP.
8. Once finished, your device should reboot to system and will have TWRP recovery, instead of the stock recovery. The only thing left now is to install SuperSU.
3. Installing SuperSU through TWRP
Although Recowvery does give you an option to install SuperSU through its interface, doing so caused problems in my case. Therefore I recommend manually booting into TWRP and installing SuperSU from there.
1. Download the latest version of SuperSU from HERE and place the .ZIP file on your phone's internal storage.
2. To boot into TWRP, go into the adb and fastboot folder, which I described in the very first steps of this tutorial. There, once again open a command window and type "adb reboot recovery".
3. You should now be in TWRP, there select Install, find the .ZIP file of SuperSU in the file explorer, and install it. DO NOT Wipe Cache after the installation.
4. Reboot to sytem, you should now have a rooted LG G5 with TWRP and SuperSU installed!

I'll try this later tonight, I spent the whole night yesterday trying that. Thanks in advance. ???
Didn't work for me. Thanks for this though. The script actually made it's way through this time (multiple times at this point), but whenever I try to adb reboot recovery I get the "No Command" screen (which I believe is still the stock recovery?). Success all the way through. Don't know what I could be missing.
Also tried manually pushing the recovery image via adb thinking there might be an "Internal Storage" (as seen by pc) vs "/storage/emulated/0" on the phone. No dice either way.

To me it seems like your recovery is not flashing, make sure to download the latest version of TWRP, rename it "recovery.img", and place on the internal storage of the device. If still doesn't work, try a complete clean start. Relock and unlock your bootloader again.
To be safe, I would remove "others try at your own risk" as it will not work and could possibly brick any model other than the H830 and H850. All other models are bootloader locked and I have tested myself; it won't work on anything else.
It worked! Thank you so much.

What do you mean with thiz sentence? We cant unlock our bootloader its not supported, can we still try this method?
Will this trigger some flag or fuse? Or with the flash of the firmware though lgup and locking the bootloader will create a Perfect stock device?
Can someone confirm it works on H850

No, you have to have an unlocked bootloader. I meant if you already unlocked your bootloader, you can skip this step. Possibly it will work once we get bootloader unlocks for other variants of the G5.
Do I have driver issues? Adb recognizes phone when turned on. When in fastboot only waits for device to connect.

The drivers in the post should work for both fastboot and adb. What do you mean, "when in fastboot only waits for device to connect"? You can run the "fastboot devices" command there to see if the device is recognized.
Will not let me run any commands. Just says waiting for device. Crazy, I know.

so this is what i am running into. I know with 100% certainty that the device is oem unlocked. I get the whole, "your device software can not be checked for corruption" screen and everything.
i started the process completely stock, with oem locked. I unlocked it as per your instructions and followed everything closely as far as I can tell. i have tried to re-lock oem . reboot and then unlock it again twice, as well as rebooting pc and G5 multiple times. usb debugging is turned on, and usb options are set to file transfer. still same result.
Any ideas?
EDIT: i will leave the whole post up in case some one makes the same mistakes i did and this helps them out. What i needed to do to fix this was simply set "use usb connection for " to photo transfer instead of file transfer.
Now i am stuck on :\Users\test\Desktop\LgG5 RooT\minimal_adb_fastboot_1.4.1_portable>adb reboot recovery
error: no devices/emulators found like another person before me. hopefully this will be figured out soon
EDIT#2: used adb reboot recovery command with phone turned on and on main screen of launcher, not fast boot, like i was trying at first. and twrp loaded up fine.
dont have a sd card to put superuser.zip on and it seems like i can't reach the internal storage download folder through twrp, or atleast i could not find it, so i ended up sideloading it by going to sideload in twrp and typing "adb sideload SR1-SuperSU-v2.79-SR1-20161221223537.zip"
into it.
i hope that documenting all my mistakes and solutions for everyone to see will help someone running into the same problems i was.

Also i had to root before i unlocked the boot loader. Which is not safe, you should probably unlock the boot loader before you root, but i couldn't figure out how to unlock it without root access.

K) wait until it says finished
L) when SU opens, select "update" "install" or what ever pops up
M) when it asks to uninstall, uninstall it, it is not uninstalling SuperSU it is uninstalling Kingroot,
O) if 30 minutes pass and it is still uninstalling then exit the app and then reboot the phone
DO NOT STOP HERE ~ YOU HAVE TO UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER, and OPTIONALLY FLASH TWRP
Step Nine: Unlocking The Bootloader
A) refer to step one and double check the OEM unlock is enabled and USB debugging is turned on
(If not then please enable them)
B) search quick boot on the google play store download the first app it should be a circle with a lightening bolt

J) in the CMD window type "fastboot devices" - without quotations
(everything is case sensative)
K) then type "fastboot oem unlock" - without quotations
L) then type "fastboot getvar unlocked" if that doesn't work try "fastboot getvar" or "fastboot getvar unlock" to confirm if it is unlocked
(if non of the getvar commands work you did something wrong, and i wont be able to help you, but if you followed the tutorial you shouldn't have any issues as these are the exact steps i took)
M) then type "fastboot reboot"
LEAVE THE CMD OPEN OR YOU WILL HAVE TO REPEAT steps H-I
Step Ten: Flashing TWRP
A) go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/qa-metro-pcs-lg-k7-lgms330-t3331678 and click on the latest download for twrp for me it is BETA1
if the links on that page dont work then use the links here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66282525&postcount=42
B) extract the download into your SDK folder on your PC
C) in the sdk CMD window from Step nine
D) type "fastboot devices" - without qoutation
E) ~optional, HIGHLY RECOMENDED~
1)type fastboot "boot twrp-image-3.img" - this will boot up twrp WITHOUT flashing it, just so you can make sure everything is working right
in my case it was twrp-image-3.img check your twrp file name and replace fastboot boot twrp-image-3.img with
fastboot boot INSERT YOUR FILE NAME HERE.img
2)in twrp tap reboot>bootloader
F) when bootloader mode opens back up
G) type "fastboot flash twrp-image-3.img" or "fastboot boot INSERT FILE NAME HERE.img" depending on your file name
H) when finished flashing type "fastboot reboot"
Step eleven
A) follow instructions on step one
B) the reason you must do this is because when you flash TWRP it erases your entire phone and resets it
Congrats you have Successfully Rooted, Unlocked Your Bootloader, and Flashed TWRP, to your LG K7
Well done, my friend. Well done indeed.

While it does work I can find no method using the buttons to get into twrp all the instructions I find for recovery fail so I can only boot back to it after the phone boots, thus it's worthless at this point. Also the command is fastboot flash recovery imgagename.img and you'll need to remove kingroot from administrators to uninstall.
Anyone else been able to boot directly into twrp from the off position?

Of other interest 5.1 is very dendent on Google apps and move app updates to the system via TB or Link2SD fails more than it succeeds, shows they moved but app inaccessible afterwards hence brick. Mine went down trying to integrate play services and reinstalling from adb didn't help. FYI if you relock the BL it'll lock the phone with a security error too. Moving play services causes unending error screens so you can't really see if it's done moving, but I waited a good 5 minutes before reboot. Issue on fails could have been the system not being r/w. Needless to say backup, backup, backup as I hadn't because I've never had a serious issue doing that and considered it a trivial task. Anyone had good success with integrating updates and cache? Anyone restored from twrp yet?

Can you figure out why we can't boot to recovery via hardware buttons? That's critical for tinkering and testing on the go since I always have my phone but not my laptop for booting into recovery with adb. Not sure exactly where to look, probably start with a search for the words "recovery" and "safe mode" for the buttons and "security error" in the boot.img files.

Maybe just my experience, but regarding step 10. I had to have the twrp image in SDK>platform tools, also when you get to fastboot flash twrp-image-3.img, I couldn't get it to work, until I typed it as fastboot flash recovery twrp-image-3.img. Hope this helps anyone else getting errors during this part. Thanks for the writeup.
It seems that unlocking the BootLoader on the WileyFox Swift2+ is even easier.
To unlock the boot loader (WARNING!!! This wipes your user data!!!)
Go To 'Settings - About Phone' Tap 'Build Number' seven times to enable 'Developer Options'.
Go To 'Developer Options' Enable 'Advanced Reboot', Enable 'OEM Unlocking'
...## not sure if these next few steps are even needed!!
Connect to computer running "Minimal ADB and Fastboot"
Open command window as administrator (To prevent Win10 messing around).
Enter command "fastboot oem unlock"
...##
Press the phone 'Power Off - Reboot - FastBoot'
PC detects device and states "Follow instructions on device screen"
Phone screen issues dire warnings about unlocking Bootloader.
Proceed and job done Bootloader is Unlocked (device at this point not rooted).
The stock Swift2+ Cyanogen Rom is no longer available - seek out the LineageOS rom instead
I unlocked my bootloader the other day and those are the same steps I did so I can confirm this works.
I then proceeded to root the phone with SuperSU 2.78. Worked a treat.

Yes initially the only version of SuperSU I could find was v2.46, which kept failing.
Any help? My reboot menu doesn't have a fastboot option. Yes I have advanced reboot and oem unlocking enabled.
Edit: Sorted it. Turns out you have to reboot into the bootloader.

Is it too hard to google your question?
Works on most devices:
1) Turn off device
2) Hold VOLUME UP button
3) Connect device to PC via usb-cable
I installed SuperSU, before that I installed TWRP. Now I am unable to install the latest update "cm-marmite-a1478a0ee9-to-7aa1c797975e-signed"
When I download this update and perform the actual install, it gives an error. Restarting the phone via TWRP recovery gives the same error. I am getting "Error 7"
So no I want to revert back, to get rid off SuperSU and TWRP to install all updates and then later root the device with TWRP and SuperSU. How do I get the original state of the phone back?
Or do you have any advice how to get the latest update installed?
Thx.

Proceed and job done Bootloader is Unlocked (device at this point not rooted).

edit: Updating to the latest Oreo update (8.1 I think)
---------- Post added at 08:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:14 AM ----------
ohhhhhhh, I had to turn the phone off while connected, already running "adb & fastboot" (not just adb) then (phone connected in USB debugging mode) turn off the phone and hold volume up (no need to hole the power key as connected and I got the option to unlock with a warning that I may void the warranty. Then my phone encrypted/re-encrypted itself (I think it was already encrypted).
Now to flash TWRP (3.2 I think) and flash a custom ROM (Lineage 15.1 / 8.1 Oreo) Not sure if I should root or not. And if I do, should I root before installing 8.1?
got damit i never understand how to flash twrp i followed what google said.
fastboot flash recovery XXX.img it does its thing i reboot still no recovery im on stock cm12 ? i think or cm13 android 6.0)
Hi, trying to unlock my S2+ bootloader with Ubuntu MATE. Have completed all the steps listed, entered fastboot oem unlock into the terminal which now just sits there displaying < waiting for any device >
Any idea where I go from here?

your device isn't picked up by fastboot ...first of all install the very latest version of adb ...using the usual Ubuntu story
sudo apt-get install adb
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get update
sudo reboot
then switch on your device
go to /settings/about/buildnumber
click until developer settings are enabled
go to developer settings
toggle oem unlock to on
toggle adb to on
WITHOUT SWITCHING OFF
connect device to pc/laptop with original orange wileyfox cable
now your Ubuntu machine
must install drivers and Mount the phone so it should appear as a mounted volume on desktop
now open a terminal
now run the following :
sudo adb
sudo adb devices
now look on your phone and pull down the notification shadse ..make sure you have adb connected and file transfer mode ..if not change from charge to file transfer ...
there should be a pop up window on phone screen asking for permission for adb ..select allways allow and give pernission / authorization ..
now in terminal run adb devices and it should return some value as connected device
run:
adb reboot bootloader
phone will reboot to bootloader
run:
fastboot oem unlock
*use volume up to select yes
**beware will erase DATA ...
***if it doesn't work and adb and fastboot doesn't detect your device it is a driver problem but i haven't used Ubuntu in ages so can't remember steps to update your drivers other than updating the whole adb package
****some ubuntu instructions might be a little off as I've explained previously it's been a while
*****your waiting for device means
-adb service didn't start
+try "sudo adb"
-adb drivers out of date
+try sudo apt-get update
-adb on device not toggled to on
+toggle adb in dev settings
*adb authorization not given **should still see unauthorized device
-bad usb cable
+try another usb cable
-bad usb port
+try a different usb port
_____for clarity double check Ubuntu adb instructions and commands but this should put you on the right track____

don't reboot immediately ..stock recovery will be flashed back over twrp
*i assume you know how to get to fastboot
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
*volume up for yes
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
*make sure you have a copy of twrp called recovery.img in adb folder
when it says sending...
then is says writing ...
then it says done
DON'T REBOOT
UNPLUG USB
***MANUALLY BOOT TO BOOTLOADER USING VOLUME UP AND POWER
**** IN BOOTLOADER SELECT "RECOVERY"
you should then just wait on wileyfox first time it takes a minute or two don't know why then
it should boot to twrp
***you can take stock boot.img and patch it with magisk
-use: fastboot flash boot boot.img
-then you will have magisk and rooted
-using twrp apk or something like root rasher or flasher ..give apk root permission
-download twrp ..flash with apk from inside system ..after flashing select yes to reboot directly to recovery

okay no problem
*i know everybody likes lineage and its usually more stable and the base for many custom roms
however just my 2cents worth ...i tried all the roms for our device ..but the by far the best for me was following the tutorial on how to make our device treble compatible ..
Then ...after 3-4 months of trying different treble GSI's i have stopped on Viper Official Pie 64bit A-only treble system.img ... at least give it a try after trying out lineageOs ..
you might thank me .
I can't get my device to show up usb debugging is on, Advanced Reboot', 'OEM Unlocking' etc. I've been trying for hours and hours. It shows up to transfer files if I want that mode so my PC is recognising it, but it doesn't seem to have drivers for adb. I've tried installing google usb drivers and also this: https://afterthoughtsoftware.com/posts/using-adb-with-wileyfox-swift
sorry if I haven't explained clearly, I'm just so sleepy from going around in circles. :|
I've rooted phones before and never had this issue. please can anybody help?
edit: have fixed I think! did two things at once so not sure which. I revoked usb devices so that my computer would have to ask permission again to connect (or something like this) and also clicked a thing on my PC to allow it to update what I think said driver icons automatically, which I wouldn't have thought would help, but it seemed to find the adb driver this time. I'd probably make more sense if it weren't 1am. :|
When i got my Swift 2 X, it came updated with 8.1 Oreo out of the box and the issue I had was unlocking the bootloader.
Sure fastboot oem unlock unlocked so I could flash recovery and roms but whenever I tried flashing a bootloader via fastboot, it gave me "FAILED (remote: Critical partition flashing is not allowed)". So that part was still locked.
This I fixed way back after searching around on my own about it but since the solution to this aint mentioned around here and I can't be the only one who have encountered this I think, I am just gonna add it in here.
There are now other commands to unlock your device, fastboot flashing unlock that does the exact same thing that fastboot oem unlock does and fastboot flashing unlock_critical is the command that unlocks the bootloader.
Both commands prompts you with the usual to confirm unlock and wipes your data.
It doesn't matter if you already unlocked the device with the oem command or flashing command, fastboot flashing unlock_critical should be able to unlock the bootloader either way.
My swift was also at 8.1 I had no problem unlocking the bootloader.

Doesn't seem that many who have this lock on their bootloaders, the only ones I could find here who had locked bootloaders the same way as I had are in the LineageOS 14.1 thread.
So at least I am not alone with that but sure makes me wonder how it is so for some while others not.
After unlock bootloader Everytime reboot always like this https://ibb.co/NSZR818
Disclaimer: I have done these steps multiple times and haven't come across any issues, but before you continue please read this fully, and follow the steps completely. Any issues or damage to your phone that occurs while doing this I am not responsible.
That being said below will be everything you need to make sure this all goes smoothly:
Windows or Linux Laptop/PC
Atleast 50% battery on OP3T
Usb Cable for OP3T
Internet Access
Patience
Now to Begin the process to return to stock:
Step 1: Go to http://downloads.oneplus.net/devices/oneplus-3t/ , and download the 4.0.2 version. Again these are the steps I do so that I can make sure the process is done correctly and also that I can get rid of the annoying dm-verity warning. Don't worry at the end of this you will have the latest version for you're device.
Step 2: Go to your phone and reboot to twrp, once in twrp go to wipe>Advance Wipe> Tick everything but usb otg (I do this to make sure my phone starts out in a completely clean state>then swipe to wipe. Once it's finished press back twice to get back to the main screen for twrp.
Step 3: Please reboot device back to twrp. (I found the best way to do this without issues is on the main screen for twrp go to reboot>power off>when the unlocked bootloader warning comes on click the volume up button quickly>use the volume down button when another menu comes on and go to recovery. Again I did it this way because the with twrp version 3.0.4-1 gave me issues when trying to reboot twrp within twrp. Also you will get an No OS installed this is normal as you wiped the system completely. Don't worry just reboot back to twrp.)
Step 4: Once back to twrp you will get the screen where is says to allow modification. Please swipe to allow. Next please connect phone to pc/laptop, and transfer the 4.0.2 you downloaded to your phone. One completed go back to phone and click install and click on the file you just transferred and swipe to install. Once completed reboot device. (Warning: at this time you will get the Dm-verity warning, but dont be alarmed we will take care of that in the up-coming steps.
Step 5: Once the phone reboots and comes to the setup screen don't go through and add your accounts because we will be doing another reset. Quickly get to the home screen of your phone and go to settings>about phone>tap build number 7-10 times>back once>developer options>make sure oem unlocking is ticked, advance reboot is ticked, and usb debugging is ticked(If none of them are please tick them). Since your phone is connected to the pc/laptop after you turn on usb debugging a allow authorization box will show on your phone. Please allow that for this to work.
Step 6: Next go to this link: http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3t/oneplus_3t_oxygenos_4.0.3/ , and go all the way to the bottom where it says download Oxygen Recovery (optional), and download that file, and place it on desktop.
Step 7: Now this is assuming you have adb/fastboot setup on you're pc/laptop. Please open up a Command prompt window with phone connected and type these commands in:
1) adb devices ( this will show your device ID Number). If it shows it please continue, if not there is an issue with adb/fastboot set up on your computer, or you typed that command in wrong. Once u get the issue resolved try the command again.
2) adb reboot bootloader (this will reboot your device to bootloader mode)
3) fastboot devices ( again this will show your device ID number as from before)
4) fastboot flash recovery [click and drag the recovery file you downloaded from oneplus website and saved to the desktop here, press enter, and once completed go to your phone and use either the volume up or down button till u see the word Start in green and then press the power button. This will reboot your device, and again you will still have the dm-verity warning on. We are almost done.
Step 8: Once your device is rebooted we need to get rid of all traces of twrp so go to your computer>file explorer>this PC tab>your device should be listed there since its still connected to pc> internal storage>locate twrp folder and delete. Now after you are done with this and you want to lock bootloader go to step 9, but if u don't want to relock the bootloader please just factory reset device, setup your device and then go back to oneplus.net and download the 4.03 version and adb sideload it, and dm verity is gone.
Step 9 Relocking bootloader is easy, and will reset your device. While on your phone go to settings>about phone>tap build number 7-10 times>back once>developer options> make sure that OEM unlocking is ticked, advance reboot is ticked, and usb debugging is ticked (again u may get the allow authorization pop up on your phone please allow). Go to command prompt for adb/fastboot and type in these commands:
1) adb devices ( this will show your device ID Number). If it shows it please continue, if not there is an issue with adb/fastboot set up on you're computer, or you typed that command in wrong. Once u get the issue resolved try the command again.
2) adb reboot bootloader (this will reboot your device to bootloader mode)
3) fastboot devices ( again this will show you're device ID number as from before)
4) fastboot oem lock; once you click enter go to your phone, and use your volume up or down buttons to click on lock bootloader. Let finish. This will reset your device again. Once this is all completed and reboot you have gotten rid of all the warning screens, and your device is like it was when you first got it. Set up device with your accounts and you will get a notification of a update. Download and install.
Congrats your phone is back to stock. If anyone has questions please pm me.
Again these steps are longer than what most of you may do. A few others including myself have done this multiple times to confirm. None of us had issues. It works
**Special Thanks**
The guys that tested this with me to confirm my steps are accurate
Google for well google
Oneplus for yet another awesome device and software.

TWRP - Mount Decrypt Data?
Good afternoon, the_rooter... Thanks for posting this. I'm trying to get back to stock and found this. I'll explain from the beginning...
My 3T will not boot now. Stuck on “Powered by Android” Screen. Here’s the sequence of events that led to this:
1. Flashed TWRP 3.1.0-1
2. Did a backup of phone (Orig OS… Just got phone a few days ago)
2. Flashed Sultan’s ROM
3. Installed Xposed.
At this point… Everything was working just fine… This morning I decided to install the Xprivacy Module and then I rebooted phone. When I did that, the phone just hung at the “blue android” start screen. I then did the following:
1. Held power button until shutdown
1. It took a while, but I was finally able to boot into TWRP.
2. Did a Wipe – The regular one
3. Restored my backup and rebooted. (Would not boot into the OS)
This is where I think I screwed it up even further… … Here’s what I did… I grabbed a shotgun and… LOL… No… but I was thinkin’ it… LOL… I did this:
1. Booted into TWRP
2. Did the Advanced Wipe and just wiped Everything(Internal Storage as well) except USB OTG
Also getting "Mount Decrypt Data" message when I boot to TWRP... Not sure why that's happening...
Now I can’t copy any files to the phone… Tried with Linux(Ubuntu) and a Windows system... Before all of this I could copy to the phone just fine. I tried disabling MTP in TWRP but that didn't work either. So I'm stuck on copying things to the phone at this point...
Can you set me straight?
Edit: Crisis over... Was able to load ADB drivers on a Windows Box and copy ROM back to phone... I'm back and smiling again.
Just use these tutorial for return 100% stock,it worked very good but the last dm verity message only dissappeard for me after step 9 updating to last 7.1.1 using adb sideload.
Thank You very much!!!!!
Is there a reason why you have to swipe to allow modifications? Can't you just keep TWRP read only and then the stock recovery will automatically be flashed so you don't have to do it manually? Also there will be no dm-verity warning.
Thanks for this guide, it worked great.
When you flash the downloaded 4.0.3, the ota of 4.1.0 will fail because somehow a partial ota is for some reason not possible. Anyway this is no problem because the phone will perform an automatic retry and downloads the full ota which worked for me and let the dm-verity warning disappear. I imagine future partial otas will work.
Therefore I think it is important to start with a version that is not the newest version (but e.g. with newest version - 1) or otherwise use some other way to get rid of the dm-verity warning.
Took the 4.0.3 update OTA but other than that followed exactly. Worked beautifully!
I didn't relock bootloader.
I also removed the default encryption.
I've followed all the steps, but dm-verity warning is still showing. I'm still on OOS 4.0.2 though. Someone with simmilar experience? How to get rid of that dm-verity warning?
Edit:
Manually upgraded to OOS 4.0.3 and dm-verity warning gone! Not sure why I was not receiving OTA update though.
What about returning to stock for 4.1.1??
I was coming from the beta channel, and after the initial wipe I was unable to boot into either recovery or the software. I had to reflash TWRP, and then I was able to install 4.02.
After unlocking, I was still getting the dm verity warning. The software attempted an OTA, but it failed. After this it downloaded the complete 4.1.3 via OTA, which worked and got rid of the dm verity warning.
Thanks for the guide!
Followed Tutorial 100% :/, Didn't get any error doing Flashing, Worked perfectly but still the DM-Verity warning.
That official TWRP 3.x is prone to cause dm-verify error and due to that I even has many files in /data lost! Better use TWRP 3.1 bluspark version. Though it's Unofficial its work best.. I also upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1 TWRP without getting the dm-verify error back..

How can I upgrade to the 3.1 version?
To return it to stock I just
1.flash the oneplus's Oxygen Recovery
2. full wipe in Oxygen Recovery
3. ADB sideload 4.0.3
4. lock oem in fastboot
and all the warning would disappear and every return to stock

Hello everyone. Meanwhile you excuse me for imperfect English but I use translator, my English language is rusted...
I have a A2017G, I have managed to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP and SuperSu on 6.0.1 version But then I have had the nice idea to update to 7.1.1 then have put update. zip file (renamed), in SD card, turn off the terminal, enter into TWRP but it Disappear!!! Only Originale...io recovery make flash and device updated to B09.
I want to install TWRP and SuperSu and put alternative ROMs but I can't do anything! If I open PowerShell window in adb folder and command "ADB reboot bootloader", the device reboot and appear a screen where to " your devices software can't be checked for corruption, please lock the bootloader", ecc ecc, If I squeeze volume on, it will get into recovery, if I don't do anything it reboot normally.
I can not get into fastboot mode, I fail to install TWRP. What is the best way to go back? or reset everything and start again? I have tried to downgrade from Nougat to MM via SD but after about 1 minute of analysis I aborted the installation....
However the phone will work normally even without all these things but I have purchased ZTE for modding and I don't bear to have half fatto...in work the most difficult thing to be unlocking the bootloader and I do this thing...
Let me link you my ingenious, allmighty Axon 7 Companion Thread.
Try to install twrp with MiFlash if you can enter edl mode

Your phone works normally
You don't have fastboot
You have stock recovery
If this is the case then most surely you have EDL working...
Install TWRP from EDL mode:
This is taken from Controllerboy's guide
BE SURE THAT WINDOWS SHOWS FILE NAME EXTENSIONS!
A) Flashing TWRP Recovery to your device.
Q: Why do I need TWRP?
A: TWRP is a custom recovery system. It lets your backup your system in case anything goes wrong. It also lets you flash custom ROMs and zip files containing patches like viper4android or A.R.I.S.E. (audio) and root your device via SuperSU.
0) Boot up a windows computer with a 64bits processor. Verify your Axon 7 is charged at least 75%. Temporarily disable your antivirus software to allow axon7tool to work.
1) Backup all the data of your phone's internal memory that you don't want to lose. Copy it to your PC
2) Download the axon7tool from here: http://www.filedropper.com/axon7tool-15-win64
3) Download minimal adb and fastboot from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767103465
4) Unzip the minimal adb and fastboot file, place the folder with the files in it somewhere you can easily find it
5) Place the axon7tool exe in the same folder as adb.exe and rename it to "axon7tool.exe" (it's easier to work with that way)
6) Download the TWRP .img and .bin files from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4...nlaZU1NRldoRjA
7) Place the TWRP .img file in the same folder as "adb.exe" and "axon7tool.exe", rename it to "recovery.img"
8) Make a copy of the "recovery.img" file and name it "recovery.bin". Leave it in the same folder
9) Go to settings in your phone and go to "About Phone". Tap "Build Number" 7 times to make the Developer Options available
10) Go to "Developers options" and tick "Allow OEM unlock" and "Android Debugging"
11) Connect your Axon 7 to your PC
12) Open a command window by holding shift and right-clicking in a blank space in the folder where the "adb.exe", " axon7tool.exe", "recovery.img" and "recovery.bin" files are located. Click "Open command window here"
13) Type "adb devices" and hit enter. You should see one device with some code listed
14) Type "adb reboot edl" and hit enter. Your device will reboot to EDL mode. It appears to be off, but it is in fact in EDL mode.
15) Go to Device Manager on your pc and verify your Axon 7 is listed as "QUSB_BULK"
16) In command, type "axon7tool -r gpt boot recovery" and hit enter
17) After it is executed, your phone will reboot. Wait until it has fully booted.
18) In command, type "adb reboot edl"
19) Verify you now have 3 backup files in your ADB folder for gpt, recovery and boot. These are backup files in case something goes wrong
20) In command, type "axon7tool -w recovery"
21) Wait until it finishes
22) Your phone should reboot
23) Shut down your phone and boot it to TWRP by holding both the power and volume up button to verify you have TWRP
24) TWRP might ask you for a password. If it does, simply tap cancel. It will ask you if you want to modify system. Swipe to agree
NOTE: if you have problems connecting to your phone as QUSB_BULK, download Zadig and replace your drivers with WinUSB ones. If axon7tool doesn't recignise your device even when connected as QUSB_BULK, try killing adb.exe via task manager before retrying.
Hello and thanks for the guide.
I have tried this system... be gone everything OK up to number 16... when I type "Axon7tool -r gpt boot recovery ", the command window should be written "Failed to connect "... and yet the device is in EDL mode.
Be all right, on Device Manager be seen as "QUSB_BULK ", the cable being original, all steps 1 to 16 be ok...io no longer know what to do.

Easy. Hold all 3 keys (power, vol up and down) until Device Manager refreshes (you'll see it as the list of devices contracting), and close CMD. Open it again and do step 16 again

Hello and thanks for the advice. Unfortunately it does not change anything.. I have done exactly as you say but the result does not change anything...io have connected the device, Open command window, type "adb devices ", is viewed as "Cd07b2e9 device ", I type "adb reboot EDL ", it restarts in EDL, then go to management Devices and is viewed as "QUSB_BULK ", Run command "Axon7tool-r GPT boot recovery " but it says "Failed to connect ", then I'll return to Device Manager, hold volume up & Down & Power, Icon disappears and returns after a few seconds, close window and launch command "Axon7tool-r GPT boot recovery " but still give "failed to connect "...
So, recapping: I have bootloader unlocked, I can get into EDL but PC does not see device although on Device Manager it exists...
I now launch device into the wall... problem solved.
if you really slammed it against the wall, i would love to buy the back housing and speaker grills. hopefully, you were just illustrating frustration (it is a frustrating scenario), and will reach a resolution, but if you actually did smash it, i could use some parts.

Of course I'm kidding... have just purchased this device, have a great hardware but the software does not go well for nothing. I have had a dozen phones, I changed about 60 ROMs, so for me it is not difficult to change the software...ma in this case have problems. Is it possible that I fail to solve this problem? Be a way to reset everything and start from scratch? Okay, the bootloader be unlocked but not be any other way to go back? I have seen many guides but not able to solve the problem. I fail to make flash of TWRP, fail to do downgrade to MM....io hope someone help me... thanks.
are you using a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port? it may not apply to this scenario, but with Motorola and RSD Lite, I always had to use usb 2.0 ports or it wouldnt see my device when flashing.
also, the steps @choose an username listed out are the best way to start from scratch, but obviously you have to be able to have your computer see the phone in the desired mode.
@DrakenFX has several guides in the axon 7 forums that should help once the computer sees the phone as well.
I use USB 3.0 with original cable ... but if you now tell me that maybe this is my problem, then I use USB 2.0. Thank you...
Good morning...
Nothing to do... I put the original cable on USB Port 2.0, have redone procedure from window PowerShell, on command "adb devices " Everything OK, on command "adb reboot EDL " It enters EDL mode, but then all the procedures are failed... if command "Axon7tool-R recovery GPT boot "I always get out of the inscription " Failed to connect ", it remains in EDL and I just have to reboot... I replaced the drivers with Zadig 2.3 but did not change anything... are there any other moors to make flash of TWRP? exist lthough an app that do this? I remember that for LG G3 I'll fix everything with an app...
I need help! Here’s the story. Sorry for the lengthy post. TL;DR at the bottom..
- Was on B32, unlocked BL, TWRP installed, rooted with SuperSU
- Updated to B35, but lost TWRP and root (I don’t know how, but I assume I must have wiped the wrong things? - system? - I’m clearly a novice)
- Now I’m on B35 with an unlocked BL, but despite days of searching and researching, I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get TWRP reinstalled. I want to have TWRP before trying Magisk (have never used Magisk before, but would like to try it this time instead of SuperSU)
- From my Mac, using terminal, adb recognizes my devices.
- “adb reboot boot loader” gets me to a list of options “power off, restart, recovery, fastboot, back to previous page”. Choosing fastboot simply restarts the phone. What should “fastboot mode” look like?
- I tried flashing TWRP via adb while on this page and terminal stopped at “waiting for any device” and did nothing
My conclusion is that I need to downgrade to whatever latest version allows fastboot commands to work properly? Is this B15? If so, is the only available B15 zip the one that is on the ZTE website? Do I just wipe data/dalvick/cache and flash this zip?
Do I not need a Bootstock and Systemstock like @DrakenFX usually posts? That’s how I’m used to doing any updates.
Thank you all for your help, both past and present!
TL;DR: Would like to downgrade from B35 to B15 so that I can install twrp and root again. What’s the best way to do this and where can I find the appropriate files?

I'm not sure where you read all that BS, but if your bootloader is unlocked then you can install TWRP via EDL (Or fastboot if you have it). No need to downgrade for anything  in the past you would have needed to downgrade in order to unlock the bootloader, now it's not even needed
Download EDL Tool by djkuz and install TWRP with that one. Or you can use axon7tool by tennear, but it's much more finicky and ran entirely by commands (no UI).
And just to avoid more trouble, DO NOT LOCK THE BOOTLOADER! You do that with the system even barely modified and you brick the phone. A bunch of people tried to do something, got scared because they made a simple correctable mistake and just locked the bootloader thinking everything would get restored to stock - doesn't work that way.
Not saying you will do this, but I've seen about 4 or 5 people that started just like you and ended up doing that

Wow, thanks so much for responding to this. Sounds like this should be easy! A couple of questions before I go about following your advice:
1). Do I download EDL Tool to my computer or phone??
2). If I'm downloading it to my computer, does it matter that I'm using a mac?
Thanks again for your help!

Oh, skipped that part. EDL Tool is a .bat. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to run it on a Mac. If you can find a Windows PC somewhere to do this, it'd be much better...
But there's another way.
Issuing "adb reboot bootloader" effectively sends you into fastboot. That list you mentioned is fastboot (if it says "Start" in green, and you can scroll that, it is fastboot). Just use fastboot from the pc: Put TWRP on the fastboot folder on the PC, then issue "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" with "twrp.img" being whatever the twrp file name is. After that issue "fastboot reboot recovery". And as soon as you are on TWRP, DON'T GET OUT OF IT. Just wipe data, system, caches; then flash a system (e.g. b10 bootstack and stocksystem), then also flash Magisk, and THEN boot to system

"adb reboot bootloader" takes me to the start up screen that says "your device software cannot be checked for corruption..." etc. and gives you 5 sec to either press up or down on volume keys to get to list: “power off, restart, recovery, fastboot, back to previous page”, but the list is all white. If I select "fastboot" it reboots the phone and starts that cycle over again at the "your device software cannot be checked for corruption..." etc page.
Nowhere am I given a chance to use fastboot commands. I'm never on the page with the green "Start".
..This all seemed a lot simpler on my Nexus 5..
Thanks for your help/patience.

I thought you had fastboot since you described the 5 seconds screen and both are very similar. It's normal not to have it though.
I think there's some version of axon7tool for Linux but I'm not sure at all. The best way would be to find a Windows computer.
I wonder how you actually installed TWRP the first time? Via fastboot?
As soon as you get TWRP you should be able to run a few commands to get fastboot back just to have it around.

I have adb and fastboot installed on my Mac and I can't remember how I got it working on my phone in the first place, but I've only ever used a Mac for all this. Terminal recognizes my device and responds to commands until I try "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" then it says "<waiting for any device>" and does nothing.
Thanks again for the help. I'll keep hunting though. I don't have access to any Windows computer.
Cheers
