Apologies if this seems like a beginner or stupid question, but there's no shame in learning
Regarding the App2SD feature, is that hardware or software specific? I mean isn't there 'any' way to have it, even on a custom rom like CM? or is it bound by hardware?
i did search the forum before asking and there is 1 thread about that exact topic, but got no answer, so i'm hoping we could get an answer this time
You can use an app like Link2SD or use MicroSD as internal storage, but be sure to use a fast microSD.
If I remember correctly, in EMUI the internal storage for microSD it's disabled by default, so you have to search how to activate it.

How do I use MicroSD as internal storage?
https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-adoptable-storage-for-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge/
This should work but I'm not sure, be careful before doing anything. I do not assume any responsability.
However I read somewhere that in EMUI 5 (Android 7), adoptable storage for microSD will be supported.
i just successfully get my sd card partition and used it with apps2sd, you can try have a look at this post here it helps me!

Hello Guys!
Searched the whole day for a solution bút nothing really answers my questions, so i will post here.
Is there any chance of moving apps from DeviceMemory (2GB) to the internal USB-Storage (11GB). I tried to use App2SD and tried it with the Android Onboard Tool but nothing will do it. It just keeps moving to external SD.
When the external SD is removed and you try to move an app there is just the advice: "not enough memory".
Addition: My memory option in settings looks like this:
http://s14.directupload.net/images/120513/3rhplf49.png
Total Memory: ~11GB
Other Data (red) - will show what u really use PLUS the amount of the external SD card
Is that the Problem that the OS thinks like in this Pic the USB Storage is too full (more full than its total size ^^) and let you only move to external SD?
Ok, long story short: Is there a way to move apps to the internal USB Storage?
Thanks!
Have you looked to see what's on you're internal sd? Remember that it won't be wiped by a normal ROM flash unless you specify, so data will build up flash by flash.
Sorry, I know it sounds pedantic, but first thing to try.
what spec phone do you have?

If i move an app from applications in settings with the command "move to SD" i will see in the Storage overview that the device Storage gets smaller and the storage from external SD gets bigger.. The USB-Storage (internal SD) stay the same.
The path for the files were /mnt/asec (?) there i found some files..
And the thing with non wipe and data: Got my Note as off. ICS LPY was released and flashed it out of the box with ICS. There is nothing from older roms..
What do you mean with Spec Phone? I have a Austrian Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with official ICS LPY on it running..
PS: The problem with apps cant move to internal storage is also on Galaxy S2 present.
Can anyone try to move apps from device to the internal storage? I think that its a bug in ICS.
First things first, I would recommend downgrading to stock GB, check out Dr. ketans thread in the stickies of the ROM development thread.
It seems unlikely, but since your on lpy, there's a possibility that your data is corrupt, have to say am not sure about this at all.
There's also a thread about the issues with lpy, lpf kernel that's worth reading from abisahara.
Please, anyone else have any further recommendations, please ignore me.

------
double-post sorry..
First of all thanks for your attempt to help me out.
But whats the sense of downgrading? And nope, data isn´t corrupt can move things from pc to the phone without any problem, everthing is OK.
The only problem is to move Apps to internal USB-Storage (11GB) that wont work. There are others too with this problem and their phone never touched custom rom or anything, just the official ICS OTA Update.
Btw. i remeber i saw peopole with Galaxy S2 with the same problem on the net.
You have a Note too - try it for yourself to move apps from Device Mem (2GB) to Internal USB.Storage (11GB). I bet it wont work. Its not a special problem to me i think its a general problem.
Also is the data corruption not an effect from wiping? Havent wiped my phone yet one time..
regards.
Data corruption occurs from any large data movement, weather it's wipe, or deleting large files, there's suggestion that 2GB is the danger point but I experienced issues after writing a 500mb file that started fcs across the board.
I'm more than likely overreacting and apologies for this. Maybe someone with more experience can help better.

Hey.
Just forget the data corruption, man! I´m fine with this till now and that doenst belong to my problem..
I just want to put some apps (e.g angry birds) to my internal USB Storage and that dont work i only can move apps to the real external SD, other people have the problem too and i want to know if this is on all ICS releases from Samsung with splitted memory??
@Jaysus88, I understand your problem and frustration since I have the exactly same problem and frustration. After some search, I feel the problem may be because some phone manufacturers disabled the "Move to USB storage" capability. BTW, my phone is Samsung Galaxy Note-N7000 with ICS.
I just registered the account to share potential solutions. I was suggested two solutions (I haven't got chance to try them myself yet):
1. Root the system and somehow re-partition the internal storage to increase "Device memory" (and shrink "USB storage").
2. Add an actual SD card and "Move to SD card" instead of "Move to USB storage".
(just realized that new users cann't post links :-( )
Both 1 and 2 have limitations that I don't know for sure:
For 1, is it really possible to re-size the storage partitions after rooting the phone?
For 2, ICS may not support some SD cards; moving too many apps to SD card may also cause rebooting issues for Android (we can easily find a lot of complaints about this issue, such as the Android issue id 25563 on google code).
If you find another more robust solution, I would love to hear about it! This is another reason I registered my account.
Hi!
Found that in Themes & Apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652079
This will change the mounting points for external and internal SD. It should work.
For myself i leave it as it is.
The "internal sd card" is seriously doing damage to aosp android development.
The reason i say that, is I have read lots of posts saying "the only thing stop me from using XXXX aosp rom, is I can not use my sdcard as a internal sdcard"
And sadly, same thing happened to me as I tried "PARANOIDANDROID“, tried "CarbonRom", I love them so much. But the next day I have to switch back to SAMMY's rom, since the ext2int only works on SAMMY roms. And the build-in 16G storage is way too little for my game data.
The question is, can we modify like bootloader or patition or something to TOTALLY DISABLE INTERNAL SDCARD? so the phone will recognize 32G or 64G sdcard exactly same as its on HTC, LG and many other android phones?
Anyone have a clue?

Yes, It's better to completely remove the memory than the pain it causes at the moment.
I use DirectoryBind, but therefor I hesitate to change to another kernel/ROM. I don't know if Titanium backups are correct etc.
Memory management is a mess!
I also know the multi-user of the new ROMs interfere with all options to swap SdCard (internal memory) and ExtSdCard (external Micro SD card) so these ROMs are off limit too.

Yea man, I'm getting sick of writing and testing scripts trying to make it work.
Now I want to find a permanent solution to it. I will try to modify the bootloader to remove the "internal sdcard" partition before loading the kernel.

I guess you will have to make other bindings too; the internal SD card binding must bind to other hardware, so I don't think this is as easy as it sounds. Maybe you need a kernel which supports init.D
But, please try! When it works, I might try another kernel/ROM with this changed binding.
One thought though... Many apps already know this stupid decision of Samsung, so they expect internal and external SD cards when installed on a Note 2.
Hello
I need to redo my phone xperia z2 so that you can save files to the sd memory, I tried already klilku instructions but unfortunately none helped me so I ask you for help, I have captured the root + bootlager blocked.
sorry for the mistakes I use a translator, sorry also for SP-topic in this section is not how you wrong I'm new
There's an xposed module called handle external storage, sounds like that's what you need

I have been using this module but it seems, Move to SD is still not yet in the App Info.
I misunderstood, there is no apps2sd functionality yet, folder mount will allow you to move app data though
when it comes to downloading applications, games it saves on phone memory and wants to though applications were stored on sd card or also needs a tutorial for turning internal memory to external memory, I tried already a few tutorials but unfortunately does not help and I have android 4.4
Edit
I tried to do the program Link2SD but unfortunately when creating ext2 partition that is not loaded even in windows, the size of her doing 993 mb while on fat32 gives 59 gb. Adata 64gb card
I just got the x pure with tax money and I want to root and ROM it I've read all the directions but my questions are a little deeper than that I think. I got the 16gb version cause I knew 6.0 and adoptable storage and I got a 64 GB card. So one of my questions is since I used adoptable storage once I download my ROM on device when I wipe the device before I flash, is my ROM data gonna be gone after the wipe or is there a safe place to put it so it doesn't get wiped? My next question is are any ROMs that uses 6.0 adoptable storage so i can get the same use ability out of my SD card, or is that built in to the Android code and always there on 6.0 so it wouldn't matter? Thanks for the help and if this is in the wrong place I'm sorry I know y'all could help me out the most. And any ROM suggestions that keep the moto voice and actions???
1. Wrong forum to post this. Please go to q&a sub forum.
2. When you use adoptable storage you will have 16+64 gb storage on your device
3. Adoptable storage is a beta feature, so expect bugs, with flashing other roms.
4. In that case use you sd card as adoptable storage.

In the future, it's easier for us if you omit #1 (#'s 2,3,4 were great answers) and simply hit the report post button to notify us to move it. Sometimes (especially on mobile apps like tapatalk) posts/threads land somewhere other than intended.

I found it better to use the external SD as portable storage when flashing ROMs because when I switched ROMs I had to format the card every time. Otherwise it would show up as unreadable after the ROM switch. If you plan on staying on the same ROM then you might get away with adoptable. I had a 16GB model too and didn't have a issue with storage space with it as portable. Just save your music and pics to the card.

No problem. Now if I quoted the right post it would have been better.... I did end up selling my 16GB and picking up a 64GB but for me it's kind of a waste because I put everything on my external card. I really didn't benefit anything other than a lighter wallet

Yeah my issue with the 16 GB is I have big games so I fill up internal memory fast but everything else goes on my card
So I shouldn't use adoptable storage before I flash a ROM just after it if I plan on staying on that ROM right?
Hi, can anyone explain to me this app and how to make it work? Didn't find any good up to date tutorial.
Here is some info:
-I have TWRP rooted stock rom (SM-G935F)
-SanDisk extreme pro 64gb microSD card
-Plus version of Link2SD
-Pro version of MiniTool Partition wizard
Just can't make it work...So here are my questions:
-Can I use whole SD card as internal storage link? Or do I need 2 partitions, one classic mass storage, second one for linking? I am not planning to remove card from phone.
-Do I have to make some storage label in MiniTool, or can I keep it blank? And what about partition letter? For example G: , or can I set None?
-Can I use linked storage partition from computer via cable as MTP?
-What partitions are viable for S7 edge? And is there speed difference? (ext2/ext3/ext4) ... I was trying Fat32+ext4 and then whole card as ext4, phone always tells me card is broken and need format and I am at beginning again.
-If I somehow manage to make this phone to recognise it, how to actually use Link2SD app?
There are some topics and videos out there, but I didn't find anything up to date or in english.
Keep in mind I am just ordinary user who somehow managed to root his phone only becouse of this app - to expand low internal storage, without any knowledge about android, linux and filesystems. I just need to move some huge games to SD completly with obb.
Thanks for any advice.
Im having the the same issue with using Link2SD on my SM-G935F... Ive tried partitioning the sd card in every possible combination and still get a 'corrupt storage'' issue from the ext extention partition when rebooting my handset. From what I can tell its the actual Samsung firmware thats been rewritten to read the external storage differently due to their lack of foresite of allowing adoptable storage (code written out of their versions of Marshmellow 6.0 +, same as Sony for the Xperia range)... Fingers crossed a work around is found sooner rather than later as Link2SD is a lifesaver for releasing data and obb files from internal storage
I don't really know but I think the ext SD card is used as storage and even with solid explorer and similar file managers you have to grant permission before deleting or even creating a folder else it'll fail so I think you have to configure adoptable storage in order to be recognize as part of SD card to be used with Link2SD and also I haven't seen an update for Link2SD for a very long time.

I also have the same problem. I tried ext2 and ext4 as the second partition. Allowing 4GB until 1.5GB partition because according to the old guides, it can only process up to 1.5GB of second partition. But still, it always says it's corruted, there was a time when It was successfully read by the app but after restart, the problem returns. There was even a time where the FAT32 partition was the one that is not recognized
Sooooooooooo....
is there any solution to this yet ? cannot find Anything STILL !

Same here. Link2sd is not working (mount script error) anymore on S7 Edge (SM-G935FD). System crashed and did factory reset. Hope this issue could resolve soon.
I have the same problem, witch I think is specifically for this model (SM-G935F). Its seems that even rooted, it has some security on system folders, that prevents necessary mounts be done
I tried a mod where I can use the sd card to be seen as internal memory, but that mod pushes all apps to the sd card, and if affect performance of apps like facebook and other apps I use daily
in my previous phones I used to use linl2sd and I was in control which apps to link to sd card, and I would never choose facebook or whatapp , I used to link big games only
Is there a way to make link2sd work on s7e instead of the silly mod that pushes all apps to sdcard
