Tmobile Galaxy on5 need to unroot or go back to stock. - Samsung Galaxy On5 Questions & Answers

Long story short.. i bought this phone brand new for my kid, im not in the US so i paid some guy on Ebay to sim unlock it so i could sue it here, and its working fine.
However, the unlock method required root and my kid now wnts to play Pokemon which refuses to start since it detects phone is rooted.
So i need to either unroot or flash stock ROM, but i cant find any info on this.
Phone is on 6.0.1 with TWRP installed.
any help appreciated.

Need help with s5

So i got my beautiful Galaxy S5 from Telus and as usual with all the phones i have, i unlocked it. So far so good. Next thing was to root it and to start with custom ROMs. So I used the method described in galaxys5root.com with 100% of success. I tried couple of ROMs and i did not like it. My problems started when i decided to go back to Stock ROM from Telus. I flashed the stock rom that i found on the same site i used for rooting the phone and got a Bell phone. Now whatever i do, i am ending with Bell stock S5 and i want my Telus stock. Trying emergency recovery didn't help. I could take the phone back because i have it only for a couple of days, but i put a good screen protector (40$) and i do not want to pay for unlocking the phone again as well.
Please help me in solving my problem. Any feedback is highly appreciated:-.

[Q] Help regarding SM-G900P

Hey everyone, I been looking around the forums here and other sites and have learned a lot of info in pieces but I really need help with a particular issue. A friend of mine gave me a Sprint Galaxy SM-G900P (Galaxy S5) which is (of course) CDMA with GSM compatibility. Im unsure at the moment what service he was wanting to use but I know it is a GSM carrier (US) because he has a SIM he wanted to use. I owe him a favor so I told him I would try. Besides going the route of purchasing a unlock box and unlocking the phone with that, I discovered the SSU apk which SIM-Unlocks the phone. I downgraded the phone from Lollipop 5.0 stock to Android 4.4.2 KitKat (G900PVPU1ANE5) with ODIN. (FYI, i was stuck in download mode with no recovery mode for a week before finally getting one to work, and so happen to be that version that went through)..... I downloaded SSU and it unlocked the phone and I switched mobile network mode from CDMA to GSM Units. (NOTE: it says 4.4.2 and up will not work with USA carrier SIM cards without downgrading the Modem but I have not tried just yet) Im about to Root the phone but here is where my question comes in. I have read of people flashing roms to get their phones to work with certain carriers and other functions. Will rooting help me out at all? I guess IM asking if there is a ROM that I can flash onto the phone to enable the use of whatever carrier he is wanting to use with it. I know thats most likely useful in the situation, but Im awaiting that answer as we type. ANY help would be greatly appreciated ))) Thank you all.
Anyone? :/

[Q] Root AT&T’s S5 Active SM-G870A for use in Germany?!

Hi there,
I would love to buy a S5 Active in the U.S. an use it in Germany. Since it is looked to AT&T which we don't have in Germany, I want to root it.
For the past 2 days I did some research in this forum. It turned out that it's more complicated than I thought.
My English is not that good, so before I actually buy a phone I want to make sure that I understood everything... more or less.
So, if I get my hands on a phone with 4.4. or 5.0 on it, there is no problem to root it because there is no blocked bootloader, right?
I don't know though which ROM I should use in that case? Which one runs best on the S5 Active?
If the phone is running on 5.1. there is the problem with the locked bootloader, right? In that case I use this guide?
If I get a phone that is running on 6.0 or 6.1 I need to downgrade to 5.0 or 5.1 using this guide and the just do one of the two steps above accordingly?
Does that mean it doesn't matter if the phone I buy runs on 4.4, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, or 6.1? Can I root in anyway?
Thanks heaps for your help!
Cheers Sam
you dont need to root it for international use. If its not bound to a contract with at&t anymore, then youd just need to contact at&t to have them unlock it for international use. if youre worried about the cost to call at&t, just get the textnow app, get a usa phone number and call them via the app over wifi for absolutely no cost. or, if your worried about your english being a barrier, go to idoneapps.com and they can unlock it for you for $35. I unlocked 2 G900P (sprint S5) with them.
Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
Well, I also though about just getting a unlocked one or to unlock a locked one. BUT then I have all those atnt Apps that I can't uninstall.
So I figured, the only way to get rid of them is to root the device right?
Cheers, Sam

youre correct, those specific apps do require root to remove. Then youd want something like Titanium backup to get that job done
I havent found anything so far that will show me how to root a G870A ACTIVE on 5.0 (OF3) all these links go to methods that show how to do it on a G900 (non active) if anyone can point me in a direction that would work i would much appreciate it.

i think the bootloader is still locked on that device. Not getting much love from devs either. Not sure there is a solution for this, sorry good sir
Well I received the SM-G780A today. It is not locked to AT&T anymore so I can actually use it without rooting it.
However the preloaded apps are just a pain. So I am thinking about rooting it anyway.
The Android Version is 5.0 and the Kernel Version 3.4.0-4443965. Do I understood it right that the bootloader is not locked in Androit 5.0 yet?
What's the best way to root it and is there any chance to get a rooted Android 6 running on it?
Cheers Sam

Go to the police/phone company with proof of purchase and there's a limited chance they will help you, besides that your out of luck I'm afraid

Unfortunately this is a common scam and why you should never buy contract phones from anyone anyone who cant prove to you that it isn't a contract phone don't even bother with them. You could try police but i doubt it would get anywhere...
this almost happened to me when i bought my s7e the buyer told me it wasnt on contract so i bought it and when it arrived it was a branded network phone i asked if he could prove it wasnt and he just strung me along until he got angry calling me a scammer. ha i sent it back straight away while i still had money back guarentee via eBay.
i am surprised they even told you any information about it, that information should be confidential unless you can prove you are the original contract holder.
Your options are either use it without a mobile connection or re sell the device overseas.
it will not be blocked overseas.
there is no way to unblock a blocked phone in your country. with good reason too.
the only way to fix it is to replace the motherboard that has a different IMEI.
sorry bro
Officially... you're SOL the IMEI is blocked by the carrier. However, via root methods you can change your IMEI, unfortunately I dont think were allowed to talk about that here ;P
Just root and change your IMEI, just google it
went to cell phone repair shop they did the root and imei fix. but now i am on andriod 6.0.1 and the vibrate doesnt work my phone just emits a faint beep noise instead of vibration. also LTE doesnt work stuck on 4g?. Can i upgrade to 7.0 and fix these issues?
Thanks
LTE is the same as 4G, so no need to worry. As far as the vibrating is concerned, you're on a Nougat bootloader. You have 2 options:
1. Flash a Marshmallow bootloader via Odin. (no need to wipe data and you won't lose anything): LINK
2. Flash a Nougat firmware via Odin. (there's a reset involved, so you will lose all data and root).

Best way would be to get back to the guy that worked on your phone to make the update.

he cant get my vibration to work and he said u can only stay on 6.0.1 ?
You can follow the steps below to update thread bootloader yourself. The guide is for the S7 flat, but the steps are identical. Just download the bootloader provided by me in the previous post and follow the steps:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/modem-samsung-galaxy-s7-sm-g930f-t3379596
You can use only the BL file.

Just sell it in another country ? I'm french and one day an ******* sold me a S5 blacklisted by himself for having a full refund with his insurance. So after that i sold the phone in switzerland and obviously informed the guy for the status of the phone. He told me that it wasn't an issue for him and phones are blacklisted by country so no problem
so if i flash nougat firmware via odin will i be able to make calls text data etc as in will my imei stay modified?
going to attempt it this weekend hopefully and get back on nougat

Why so hard to find root for s7 930a?!?!?

I cannot believe a phone this 'old' is so hard to find a successful root for; with the amount of bloatware that comes with it - its crazy.
If anyone can help me find a root method that still works for Android 7.0 on the Samsung Galaxy S7 930A
I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT. Its bugging me I have been searching for 2 days now..
Until Samsung pulls their head out of their ass and unlocks the bootloader, we'll never see any further development for custom roms or root on the snapdragon version of the galaxy s7. Only other option is to get the international version (g930f) which has the unlocked bootloader and exynos processor.
I'm not sure that it is Samsung that requested phones with a locked bootloader. I believe it is the carriers that want a locked bootloader.
T-Mobile was the last carrier to issue phones with a locked bootloader.
So nobody with AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 has root?
Why so many forums that used to exist??
Willing to help...
It took a lot of digging but I was able to get my 930a successfully rooted and stable. I would be happy to assist (with what very little I know) and see if we can't figure it out. I used almost all links from XDA, if not all, but it did take a little time to put it all together. I had to flash the 930u firmware and then I had to play around with a few things. But I was successful and it does work and it is very stable. Let me know if I can help, I am going to totally unroot and reroot mine again so I will be going through the process all over anyways. Would love to be of some help, this is actually my first post on XDA so figured what better time to jump in. Take care
