I ran a search, and couldn't find the answers to these questions. I just rooted my MT4G using the Visionary+ method as described on theunlockr.com, and went about removing a bunch of crapware like asphalt, rockband, etc. using Root Explorer
The two things I still want to 86 are "My Account" and the HTC Slide to Unlock screen. I can't find the .APK for My Account, and I am not entirely sure if it's safe to remove the slide to unlock (I did find the .APK for that, tho).
Anyone have any ideas?

The apk for myaccount is selfhelp.apk and lock screen is HTC.lockscreen
Too answer your lockscreen? I wound up delete it all the way even with it froze and nothing selected in settings I still had 2 lock screams not sure why but once I wiped data and deleted it in titanium pro just have one now but still not sure how to get stock one back if I ever need it so don't blame me if you wind up screwed just telling you what I did

Thanks, Lakeshow! the My Account thing was killing me...
I did take the plunge and moved HTC lockscreen to the /sdcard, but now I have what I am guessing is the default froyo slide to unlock screen? It has two sliders now instead of one, with the one on the left being to unlock and the one on the right switches the ringer off. I think it might be kind of broken, tho... my homescreen is 100% visible, I just have the "new" unlock screen right on top of it
Kaufmanj67 or anyone else... if you could maybe walk me through how to remove this new unlock screen as well, so I go right to pattern unlock, I would be doubly grateful
I use a free app in the market called "no lock", no root necessary. When you reboot the phone the lock screen will reappear for a few seconds before the app auto starts and then it's gone until another reboot.

Thanks for the referral on No-Lock, Chad... but that's not quite what I was looking for, that even bypasses my pattern lock.
Anyone know how to remove the borked slide-lock screen I get and go right to pattern lock? If this helps, I am still on stock ROM.

you have to move/rename/freeze the HTC Sense Lock screen if you are wanting to use the AOSP lock screen. There is a thread on it here someone on XDA, i'll have to dig and find it.
here it is : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849946
or... http://tinyurl.com/6c4tkk5
Thanks for the link, Neidlinger. I didn't find that thread since I wasn't searching for AOSP... but unfortunately, that's not what I want. Ideally, I want to go immediately to pattern lock after waking the phone up.
Oh well, Now I need to figure out how to undo this [email protected]*k. I put the HTCSlideLock .APK and .odex files back in /system/app and I am getting the AOSP slidelock still. I went into ROM manager and tried to "fix permissions" and that didn't work. Anyone have any other ideas?

I'm not exactly seeing what you are asking for. You are wanting to go to a live screen after pressing the "unlock button"? Or are you wanting a Pattern style lock?

Cool it's really simple then.
Download that .zip file from the other forum, and store it onto the Root of the SD card.
Go into your market place and download ClockworkROM Manager. after it is installed open the interface and at the VERY top it will say "Flash ClockWork Recovery". Flash the Recovery image and it says success, do it again for good measures. . After it tells you success again. scroll down a little bit and select "boot into recovery".
once you do that select "install .zip from sdcard" then "choose .zip from sdcard". then select that file [the one you downloaded]. and it will flash it. After it says it's completed. Select Reboot System Now and it will go back to OE fashions.

Sounds easy enough, I think that just leaves me 2 questions...
1) will that mess up my ability to do a "factory reset" if I want to go back to 100% stock?
2) do I need the paid version of Rom Manager, or will the free one work?

The Free variant will work just fine. that's all i've ever used.
the recovery image will stick after you do a "factory reset". you will need to flash the stock image. Which is a little bit more entailed but not impossible. TheUnlockr has a GREAT walk through on how to go back to 100% stock. The Unlockr's Method for 100% stock set up.
IF you are wanting to keep s=off, and flash the stock recovery image you can do that via TheUnlockr's method. Just download the recovery image and flash just that as per their instructions.
or you can there is a way posted here on the XDA forums for a 100% stock setup... XDA's Method for 100% stock set up
that did the trick. Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately you cant :/
Download TiBu that is the closest you can get...
If you download a custom rom that keeps it up to date, they will probably include the update and you can just flash over it. but stock rom there isnt much u can do.

Trying to undo the last steps by flashing back the modified boot.img and TWRP.
Booting into TWRP and it asks for a password to decrypt storage!!!
Is wiping the only option??
I followed the guide religiously. What went wrong?

I followed the guide (part 10. How To Take An OTA Update If You Have Root).
Then after rebooting (before installing the OTA that is) I got a message saying encryption unsuccessful and I needed to wipe my phone. I turned it off instead and tried to restore it as it was before. Screw the OTA, I just need my phone back. I flashed back boot and recovery, is system.img or vendor.img the culprit?
Any ideas? Do I need to wipe data?

I really don't know what went wrong here, other people have done this with no issues. In TWRP it should be able to decrypt as long as you enter the password/pin.

I had a screen lock pattern, I entered the numbers that correspond to it (from what I read somewhere else, like a num keypad), no joy.
But then again, shouldn't actual booting into the system work as well? Why give this error msg?
I'm going to format then...
unless your super comfortable with ADB and fastboot, flashing things through them is never a good idea, you will screw up allot of the time. its always easier for the average user to wait for a ota zip and flash that. Or never root and accept otas.
Im not saying never use adb, just dont use it when its super important to keep your data

The only problem with that is even when an OTA zip is available you'd need to use fastboot to flash system etc to remove root anyway.
So I formatted, then set it up, then tried restoring my latest nandroid backup and now it doesn't recognise the pattern lock!

Thanks for that, although at first after reading the first few posts I thought there was no solution, luckily I kept reading until here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63797741&postcount=34
I did that and it worked! so at least I got back my working phone. Back to square one (almost, I lost all my local copies of photos, with only cloud backup for the last 2 weeks or so) with no OTA installed. I may try it again at some other point or wait for a more safe method.

To have your changes persist you need to disable system write protection:
Code:
adb shell reboot disemmcwp
As discovered here:

originally for other ZTE phones but works with the Axon 7 too.

I'm using "Emoji Switcher" from the play store (Root required). I don't have the actual .ttf file. There is a "write protection" on the system, once I rebooted, they came back (to stock)..... After I removed the write protection, I was able to successfully change my emoji's using the app. :good:

edit: solved, re flashing stock kernel, recovery and system (DONT LET IT BOOT INTO SYSTEM OR YOU'LL NEED TO START OVER FROM STOCK ROM), installing the zip from the ota, then installing twrp and no-verity and supersu again
first install no verity zip before any boot to system after updating then after the zip, let it boot once to patch itself, then do everything you like to
Is it working?
Have anyone tested it?

You can use Magisk hide in order to keep using Google Pay.
You'll have to unlock the bootloader before rooting so that wipes your phone. Go ahead and back everything up first.

Anyway, I like being able to fully theme with substratum as well as fully control what my phone does. I missed being able to do that on the last five or six phones I had.

Backup your persist.img so if you lose your fingerprint you can get it back. If you lose it and didn't back up persist the only way to get it back is rma it and have OnePlus recalibrate the fingerprint sensor.

These are the commands. You need to be rooted and you need to atleast boot twrp. You don't have to install it but fastboot boot twrp and do these commands in twrp. And make sure adb debugging is on. You can change the location where you want to adb pull it too as well on your pc

Not to be rude or anything but you just need root. Magisk works just fine. You can then use terminal emulator to do that. So no need to even boot to twrp..My 2 cents

No offense taken lol. I always find going through powershell on my PC to be easier cause I have a physical keyboard to type and guaranteed to work.
