I want to know, does wifi tethering on this rom need that extra tethering plan from at&t, or does it work with my regular data plan. Don't want to start using it and having at&t charging me double what im paying now just to use the data i have the way i want >.<

With Liberated FR008 the wifi tethering uses the phone's data connection and does not require the AT&T tethering package.
Liberated will allow you to to tether, but you might want to watch out for a notice from AT&T. If they somehow figure out you're tethering, they automatically switch you to the tethered plan.
Ok, thanks both of you. I don't think i will get the message considering I only have a 200 mb data plan, and the only place i will use the tether is my iPod touch. Plus i dont think anybody using android has gotten the message yet, just iPhone users.
Just updated my full stock (no root) Note 3 to Lollipop via OTA.
I have T-Mobile sim in it that is prepaid plan with no data ($35 one).
I did full factory reset after update. So I reboot and try to set up - it tells me that my plan has no data and proposed to upgrade. I rejected obviously. It didn't offer me to connect to wifi.
So I am booted and now go and enable WiFi. All connects well, signal strong - my home wifi works well with all other devices.
So I have connection with all bars but any attempt to go to internet just time out.
I shutdown, remove sim card and reboot - WiFi works! Insert sim back, no data over WiFi again.
Anyone knows what's going on? I sit some t-mobile dirty trick to force me into data plan? Doesn't make a lot of sense.
Ok, it seems that t-mobile upsell site web2go.com works just fine. But not anything else. What the heck?
OK i obviously have a G2 (D802) its an unlocked open variant and im on the three network with Unlimited Data and 2GB of tethering allowance.
i am running stock softwares and currently on D80220H-EUR-XX (Kit Kat) when i tether via WiFi it DOES NOT log any of the data i use so in affect i have unlimited data on tethering. i broke the screen on my G2 so for a while i had to use a blackberry and tethered from that albeit only on 3G , this also allowed me to tether via WIFI unlimited not logging any of the data i used on the 3 app telling my my allowances. the phone is now fixed.
now to my problem i have flashed D80230D (vodafones leak) and D80230B-EUR-XX (open) both of these work fine but as soon as i tether via WiFi it starts registering the data that i use and i can suddenly see my tethering allowance going down.
now i know this is what it is meant to do but im wondering what has changed and why does it not register the usage on kit kat or when i use a Blackberry. being able to use my phone tethered unlimited is saving me over £20 a month in broadband fees so ideally i would like to continue to use it.
i know i can just stick on kit kat but im due an upgrade in 5 months so if we can figure this out i might be able to continue with my unlimited tethering.
Does the stock, non-rooted, AT&T S7 have carrier hotspot tether provisioning restrictions? i.e. the carrier blocks tethering?
I have a Moto G 3rd gen that doesn't provision with the carrier thereby allowing me to run hotspot without root, I want to know if the S7 and S7plus are the same way,

They are able to block it but it can be easily bypassed with package disabler pro. Simply disable bloatware with it and enable tethering provision then go to settings connect to WiFi turn on tethering and WiFi sharing then u can turn off WiFi and u can use ur mobile data on your hotspot. I know it sounds like a lot but it's easy
At&t V410 trying to get hotspot working with various releases to no avail.
The closest attempt was with the actual old at&t firmware that gives me the dreaded
tether_entitlement_check_state 5 after initial state setting 1

cm 14.1 and crDroid the on/off slider just says error without any authorization attempt.
Methinks at&t crumbs still leftover somewhere preventing hotspot usage without at&t sim.
Like the dns was still set to at&t instead of tello.
Tello sim works fine in my hotspot but I wanted value added using it in the g pad 7
If I let the g 7 select the provider I get a cool tiny 4g icon with flames at the top.
If I choose tello manually it just says LTE
Network works fine for apps,just no hotspot or usb tethering available.
Reading other reviews of the AT&T hotspot, this is how it works: you have to purchase additional hotspot service from AT&T.

In previous episodes with the tello sim in other phones, there were always default APN's listed
in the cellular setup. No so with this device even with at&t firmware.
There are threads here about that with old android firmwares,some xml file that is not working right.
With CM 14.0 unofficial,there is a new item in the network menu called mobile plan.
That give me the error "tello has no known provisioning site"
The g pad just hosed up on me so I will have to recover and start from scratch.
I was going to add dun to the apn type mentioned in other hotspot not working threads.
Endeavor to persevere.

My goal in life was using the tello sim in the g pad for hotspot fun, so partial goal reached.

Maybe somebody higher up on the food chain can look into the hotspot problem now that your not locked into using at&t.
Tello is $15 a month for 5gig no taxation.Option to toss some phone action on it also for a few dollars more.I noticed running out of high speed data initially the thing is still good for email
at pitiful 2g speeds.
Years ago trying a safelink sim in an unlocked tracfone,I had to use IMSI as the MVNO type to get hotspot and tethering working.That trick didn't work this time.Tello wants you to connect to "wholesale" apn but various names will work, like:

fota
ims
CM14.0 unofficial the billing start date works backwards.
mine was set to start the 31st,not end on the 31st.
it kept track of yesterday usage but erased today to zero (the 1st of the month)
when you select usb tethering,the phone turns on the RNDIS interface to the pc but doesn't work.You can also do it from the developers menu usb interface type.
no volte,so you are limited to text and data.
Ended up going with lineage os 14.1

The v410 will only charge when turned on.
