Dear all,
I have the HD2 and 16gb SD card. When I pair the device to my bluetooth headphones (Motorola S805) the device freezes for 3 minutes and trying to get the thing to play audio takes 5 to 10 minutes. I noticed that the device spends its time trying to scan through all the music on the card (12.1gb) and then eventually the audio manger crashes. Has any encountered this and also has anyone found a fix for this??? I am about to send the device back for a replacement as I have owned mine for less that 2 weeks and they wont take it back or cancel the contract so a replacement is all I can achieve at this stage. i previously owned HD, Ted Baker Needle and Tytnii and have never had this issue. I also noticed that HD2 does not offer a voice dialer???? Is that right??? Please help
I am having the same problem guys. I am ex-3GS user and I'm really mad a great hardware like hd2 can not play my music library(10 gigs). this also leads to very slow performance in my device in general when i choose to play any piece of mp3.
does any one every had the same problem ??!!
Thanks.
Fine with 7 gigs of music here. Ofcourse it takes some time to scan the card but then everything´s working fluently
I've seen a crash or an endless loop of library scanning a couple of times right after adding new music. A simple soft reset solved it.
The library file is "Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/AudioManager_Eng". You could try and delete or rename it and see what happens. Wait for the Audiomanager to start rescanning your files, and when it's scanning, wait untill it finishes.
If that doesn't work, something in your library is causing trouble. A corrupt mp3 file maybe, something the Audio Manager wants to read but can't.
My library is about 12-13gb, so size shouldn't be the problem.
Most of the times the audio manger crashes because it contains illegal characters (characters that it cannot read by default). Make sure you're files do not contain any special characters and language specific characters.
I have similar problems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6110471#post6110471
Will try to avoid language specific characters in filenames and report back.
Here is a link to a post on this site about music.

HTC itself do help
hi, lets us trust the one and only HTC itself.
got 1 best solution. no need to figure out other method to fix it. i done mine and it works! my MUSIC player working normal without any bugs. yayyy!

sort out your music into different folders try to have at most 30 songs in a folder, yes the hd2 is a powerful device but it still has limitations oe of which is the filesystem if all your songs are in one folder the filesystem would crash or make the whole device run slowly
Heya. I've recently copied a lot of 720p .mkv files on my phone to watch while commuting.
It worked flawlessly with the first file I copied. I was able to pause and play it without any harm done.
When I finished watching the video, I deleted it off my microsd and earlier today I copied two more (at the same time) to my phone.
I found that whenever I paused the video, the sound and video became out of sync when I started playing again. There was a 3-4 second delay between what happened on the screen until the sound came. It's very annoying.
Has anyone else had similar problems? I'm using a Sandisk Mobile Ultra (16gb) card, it's class 2 but considering video playback is flawless if I don't pause it, I don't think the class will matter? My transfer rate with the card is about 7mb/s.
I also noticed that when I paused videos there was a split second delay between when the video paused and when the audio was paused. Maybe this contributes to the syncing problems when I play again?
Did this only happen with the last video you copied? Have you tried it with the one you didn't have trouble watching intially? I haven't found any such problems, but perhaps a reboot of the phone might fix it for you unless the problem is with the file itself.
This has happened to both the second and third file to be copied onto the memory card. And yes, I tried to reboot the phone. I also killed all the running apps with advanced task killer.
Well it could be that the phone doesn't like the codec of the files? Try RockPlayer and see if that gives you the same problem. Also try the original file that you didn't have a problem with perhaps?
I9000 cannot play mp3 smoothly unless completely disable data network.
Does any feel that the I9000 cannot play mp3 smoothly?
It always has some pause (0.3~0.5 seconds) during play any mp3 even in 128 kbps CBR [around pause for 5-8 times in each 5 mins mp3]
I just found that, if GPRS/EDGE/3G(HSDPA) is turned on, this problem will be happened. That is no problem with Wifi.
One more, if you try to keep the Data connection e.g. downloading a large file via GPRS, that will be no problem as well.
I do thank that when any app/module want to access the Internet and "start" the data connection, this "start" will trigger the mp3 un-smooth problem.
Anyone playing with issue as well?
Am I alone?
Have no issues of the sort, FLAC and mp3s play flawlessly.
Stock rom, JF3, non-rooted, no ATK or taskkillers in general.
maybe your phone is sync-ing too much stuff in the background
try turning off Facebook, email sync, tweet sync, etc, etc
I played a lot of Flacs with mine and it did have tiny pauses now and then as you described. Sounded as if the cpu was busy (synching or doing something else) or maybe there was heavy I/O activity and we know the SGS isn't brilliant at that.... in any case, decoding lagged sometimes.
Still, the pauses were fractions of a second and fairly rare (perhaps once every 15 minutes or so). Audible, but tolerable given the overall good audio quality of the gadget.
I am new from i9000 and I have the similar issue.
Although I had disable all the network traffic (APN/WIFI) and I was only running the MP3 player, the song still played with some stop.
I had try lots of MP3 player apps, such as Astro player, TuneWiki, Kiss Music Player, MixZing, etc. No one can play song smoothly on my device.
Can anyone tell me how to improve it?
glitches if flac
Just another confirmation I've noticed the same issue with flacs on JG4. I get a glitch every 5 to 10 minutes. I've not listened to many mp3s so I don't know if it happens with them as well.
Yeah mines the same. Gets worse when the signal is dropping, almost useless when im on the train.
Contemplating about using my trusty itouch just to listen to music. Btw its unrooted with the one click lag fix
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Its the firmware, I have tried many since the phone came out and about 50% of the firmwares have this problem, songs fine but every few mins there is a tiny pause/skip or what you want to call it, I have just moved to jpc but not tried any music yet to see if this one has same issue, but seeing as most are leaked there is always going to be an issue with something, guess the time we can really complain is when the real 2.2 comes out, if that has problems then its fair to have a go at Samsung.
I've upgraded to JM2 now, and I still don't have any troubles with my music player. mp3s and FLAC, no skipping or anything. Just smooth.
Oh and btw, I play my music from the internal SD.
Same problem here on JM6 (with and without ryanZa lagfix) with mp3's and videos.
No matter if internal or external sd card. Glitches occur approx. every 3- 5 minutes.
I'm not sure but i think there were no problems with stock JF3 firmware.
Edit:
Flashed back to stock JF3.
Music is playing flawlessly.
solved... kind of
Found what was responsible for my problems with music and video playback.
D-Clock Widget by mt. On every minute change playback stutters.

Eww leak on a clock ...
hey there. Please check if you are scrobbling music on your phone through last.fm!
I had this problem too. I used many scrobblers same problem. I disabled it now
another thing to check
many music player software will automatically download lyrics and arbum arts to the phone, those can also slow down and make it sluggish
Solution is not existed under 2.1, but don't worry

I'd like to change to I9000 and now I have HTC Desire, and I know what about you say. Under Eclair the garbage collection is terrible. Every garbage collection takes 0.1-3 secs, and then everything frezze.
Don't worry the Froyo will cure this - have to wait only 2-3 wks.
I'm trying to see if I have a bad Iconia. I've only read great things regarding the quality of the device. For the most part I agree.
Problem:
So I just I just bought an Acer Iconia on 6 days ago.
Just a couple days ago while listening to some music, I noticed clicking and popping during playback. Its not quiet either, the offending sound is louder than the music that is playing.
Workaround:
I have found if I want to stop the offending sound. If I play music in a different app, then the switch back to the first music app, the offending sound is gone. However, only a short time passes before I have to perform this task again.
Solution:
I'm considering exchanging the tablet for a new one.
Has anybody else experienced something like this?
Just after I first bought mine, my speakers would occasionally make a crackling sound, sometimes even when no audio was being played, it went away after a bout a week though, and hasn't happened again.
I exchanged the problematic with a new one. I've been listening to music all day without any issues. It appears I got a bad apple the first time. It happens.
UPDATE!!!
So here we are, 3 days worth of regular music playback and I just experienced the problem again. Just as the previous poster mentioned, I will wait until Wednesday next week to see if the problem clears up on its own.
Odd, perhaps this is a software issue?

Odd, this is starting to sound like a software issue. I will report back soon.
I can pretty much guarantee that this is a software problem, as I didn't have any issues to this effect for months, but now have it happen all the time after either the most recent update or possibly the one immediately prior. I'm having all kinds of problems after this last update, including music playback stopping after the current track when the screen is turned off, the popping and clicking, slow to come back after sleeping, crashing of the browser and of the overall system... Hopefully we'll see another update that will get things back to normal very soon, because this is nuts.
I agree its a software issue. Here is what I've found:
1) I am unable to replicate this problem using other media players. One of the ROMS i was trying out had the toshiba media player, and i played hours of local music with no issues. The new android music player periodically pops and cracks regardless of whether i am playing local or streamed music via gmusic.
2) By simply pausing the current track, and resuming shortly after eliminates the sound issues. You may even need to unplug your headphones / line out if you are using that.
3) I subscribe to Rhapsody and have yet to experience the popping issue, even after continuous hours of streaming playback.
This is very likely a software issue, much like the random issue some HC users were experiencing with the browser spontaneously closing. Hard to track down, and hopefully fixed in some update that may or may not come
To me this sounds like...
I think more troubleshooting may be in order - have you been able to reproduce the problem with *any* mp3 file you use, or only from one specific set of mp3?
Default music player works great for me for any files I decide to throw at it. Sure, I still have to wake up the screen between tracks sometimes, but that is a known issue with the a500 - never get any strange popping - and my a500 literally plays tracks 4+ hours a day (I do a long commute to get to work lol)
Try reproducing the problem using a known good set of mp3 files - the fact that you have returned one unit and are still having the same problem means that chances are:
1) you have a bad set of audio files - other systems, especially desktop and laptop systems - may be able to decode the corrupted or unstandard file without issue - this does not mean the Iconia can do the same.
2) you installed a application that is causing issues - can you reproduce this problem after a full factory reset? Just reset, load your music, and try to reproduce the problem.
If you could attach a copy of the audio file that is causing this issue - perhaps people can take a look at it and see if you have a format issue.

Music stopping between tracks while screen is asleep is a known issue - it's nothing unique to your experience.
Work around - use an alternative media player (in my experience winamp does not have this issue) or simply hit the power button between tracks to continue playback in the default media player. It's a pain in the ass, but it works.
Unfortunately, I've been using Google Music to deal with having a music library I want to access on my Galaxy S phone, Iconia, and work laptop, so unless I just download everything I want to listen to using the 'make available offline' feature and then listen to it in another app (which is a PITA), I guess I'm stuck with this. The 'pause and it goes away' bit hasn't worked for me, either.
As for the music stopping when the screen is off, I'm just frustrated by this since it was working fine for me before, and then Acer broke this with the update (at least for me- no guarantees it's specifically that update, but something about that update made this start happening for me).
I've had an issue with long/large podcasts ever since the Sept. security update and it wasn't resolved with the Oct. security update.
The problem is, and you can test this with The Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast since their podcasts are usually around 3 hours, start the podcast in whatever app you use (I've tested this with Pocket Casts and Podcast & Radio Addict) then scrub around a couple of times. The podcast will act as if it either starts over even though it's somewhere in the middle of the time bar or it acts as if it finished and marks it as such.
I've also downloaded the same podcast on another phone and scrubbed through it with no issues multiple times with multiple long podcasts. So, I don't believe it's the podcast file itself.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes I have run into this problem with Podcast Addict. The dev believers it's an issue Ruth the audio decoder on the phone. There are two "fixes" built into the app that seem to fix the problem. They are under "Player" in the settings menu.

I just tried the different settings in the player section. Although it's a little better it didn't resolve the issue. After about the third or fourth scrub it treats the podcast like it finished it. Thanks for the reply. I have a feeling I'm going to have to reach out to the devs for each app directly to get help.
