Pardon me if I missed something, but I curious. I havent seen any ROM's for the VZW 995 since the release of root..and UL Bootloader...Is this not possible or not going to happen or are there devs working on ROMs for VZW 995? Please forgive my question if this has already been asked and answered...
Thanks

Considering the guy answering is from my understanding the the guy who got root and bootloader unlock I'd assume he has some insider knowledge of roms being developed that have not been released to the public.
One of the devs who has released several roms for the H918 said he's working on a Verizon ROM this weekend. I was speaking with him last night.
Go here and start reading from post 908 and you'll see our conversation. I was trying to get him a system and boot.img last night but ran into some issues.

Cyanogen is saying its a bug. Tmo is saying its a feature. which one is correct?
If it is indeed a bug how would tmo go about fixing our phones? mass recall? sweep under the rug?
If its a feature, is it a precursor to what future phones will be?
Either outcome isnt very good for the consumer and may lead to lots of lost customers for tmo. Specially after tmo releasing a statement that its a feature of the phone.
I love this phone, the very first smartphone i ever had, and was really looking forward to hacking around with it but its hard to justify such a device that locks you out of such features. I hope cyanogen and all the other great devs work out a solution to this problem. I dont want to send it back.

People are being jerks for sure, but OP, you should search better cuz your question has been answered in several threads. The short of it is NO. It is not a bug in the sense you are thinking. It is an intentional bug which tricks linux (android os) into thinking writes to the system files during root are being made when in actuality, the writes are only being written to cache. Once the cache is cleared during reboot the root access is erased because it wasn't actually written to the system in the first place. It's not a bug that needs to be fixed. It's a bug that was placed there to fool the system and make permanent root more...challenging.

There is a very informational Wiki out. Check it out. It will get you up to date with all the work that has been done towards root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2
The important part of the question.. for me.. is whether the Z has the same bugFeature.
I see one random user saying that they flashed a G2 rom on a Desire Z and nothing more. Have I missed something? Kinda hard to say yay or nay based solely on that.
"Intentional Bug" ????
If it's intentional, it's NOT a bug.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Thank you XfooYen for the info. I did a quick search before I posted(the posting page even searches similar post before you publish them) and found nothing similar. I will make sure to search more thoroughly next time.
I am familiar with the current situation with root, I just though that if a well known developer like cyanogen thinks that its a bug that maybe the readers of xda might want to discuss his possible ratonale for such a statement, then again that may not have been what he was trying to say and got it misrepresented by the media. Instead I saw nothing but irrelevent and pointless posts. For a second I thought this was gizmodo or engadget.
Thank you again. Its good to know that xda has readers who actually know what they are talking about and not just the average troll.

RT @cyanogen: @garok89 yeah, and the statement tmobile made is technically wrong. theres nothing that restores the phone, its actually what i'd call a bug

Devs here dedicate their own free time to crunch out the ROM's, if you are so impatient no one stops you to tackle 2.2 on your own.
Haven't you already bricked three phones?
Feel free to drop some mad froyo science on us. I'll flash it. Otherwise I'm perfectly content waiting for Euguene or Sombionix to give us something actually worth waiting for.

I visit the forums almost daily and there is always somebody spewing the same "if you don't like it then make your own" statement. You guys are as bad as the people asking about new roms and 2.2. The OP has a legitimate question and he wasn't rude about it either.
I'm curious too is this because the need more then the source or are they just trying to finish up the builds they were working on before the 2.2 source came out.

LOL you guys really expect developers to drop what they were already working on just because 2.2 source was released and on top of that it was released a week ago you really think there would be a 2.2 ROM out so quickly...be realistic.
BTW the person you should probably be asking is eugene373...feel free to PM him

I think the devs still need the source code from vibrant froyo or vibrant froyo itself.... this is due to the differences in hardware between vibrant and international galaxy s

No, it's because they're on a message board that they can say anything they want.
You ask a legit question, but if you've spent any time on these boards you should know that a "Where's Froyo?" thread is going to get hammered. And if you didn't know that, you should go to the Development forum and find out where Froyo is. From my understanding, Eugene373 is going to drop a build soon.
Go follow any one of excellent chefs/architects that work on the vibrant. They seem to work endlessly in putting out new content and in fact eugene had posted a few times on his twitter about 2.2 and its coming along.
Do a bit of outside research and you'll get your information. There is a Jp3 froyo in the development section as well.
Its a legitimate question but common sense and just basic browsing of the dev thread would have given you a clear answer.

How else should I counter the silliness that because something has been posted once somewhere on the internet it can't be posted again anywhere else?
Or that news to many is somehow diminished by it being posted on another site and read previously by a few people?
Think about it.

Regardless of whether or not it's old news, the androidgeeks article takes the gmb article completely out of context anyway... clickbait if you ask me!
Its also another android site that has posted it looking for easy site hits. The only evidence we have seen so far is the leaked butterfly rom and that some HTC people are testing 4.2.2 thats it. No release date no other leaks.

That's because it's still a work in progress, and not merged yet. In the official releases. You'd have to find an unofficial build with it included.

Yup. "Never ask for ETAs" was Rule #1 for Cyanogenmod, and while we intend to many things differently from CM, "No ETAs" is not something we intend to change.
