Cheers everyone,
I followed the modified Chainfire tutoria by @jcase to root my HTC Bolt. I followed that by putting the Bad Boyz ROM on it as well, just for fun. That whole process was a success. I tinkered with some of my favorite apps, and now I'm not able to turn on my Wi-Fi anymore.
Here's what I've done: modified Chainfire root, Bad Boyz rom through TWRP, and manually cleared both caches using TWRP after noticing the Wi-Fi issue.
Where and when it started: I'm not a fan of the built-in hot-spot application, so I've had a steady relationship with WiFi Tether Router in the Play Store. I attempted to use this with the HTC 10 configuration provided by the app's author, which resulted in my situation now and the app doesn't even function properly.
Where and how it gets weird: The fixed hot-spot application built-in works perfectly. I can use it for Internet access with all the devices I own.
I'm in a pretty LTE rich area, so this isn't critical, just annoying.
Any help is welcome and appreciated.
Easiest thing is just wipe and reflash the Rom. Don't use a different app. Stock app works flawlessly.

TL/DR: I need a copy of the stock aussie roadhound firmware.
I've been using CM7 unofficial and CWM 5.0.2.6 recovery for a while on my plain u8800. The other day, the phone randomly shut it self down (wasn't plugged in).
It was stuck in a boot loop, and the only thing that would get it out was clearing cache and resetting permissions.
When the phone restarted I was presented with the setup guide again. While going through the guide, a lot of apps I had installed previously (titanium backup ect) were force closing. Although I was connected to the internet I couldn't download or sync my google account.
I skipped the setup guide, most applications didn't work, and I opened terminal. Using wifi I could ping googles dns servers by IP (8.8.8.8). I tried an nslookup using that dns however, and it failed.
I tried upgrading to the latest CM7, and since then I've had a question mark over my battery, and now only wifi works (3g/mobile worked at the start, now I can't even make phone calls.)
I'm hoping to try a stock firmware one last time, and if that fails, at least I'll be able to return my phone in that state. Unfortunately, none of the links online seem to be working.
Any Ideas/Links?
I am having difficulty connecting to Google servers when I am using cellular data. For example, I get an error when attempting to sign-in to Google voice while on data. However, I have no problem connecting once I get on a WiFi connection. I am running CM 10.2.2, Franco Kernel, and using a hybrid radio - Hybrid 0.33/0.84 for 4G. Today, I also noticed that I could not connect to my phone using Cerberus web interface. However, once I had a WiFi connection, the phone received all the commands I sent it.
Any ideas or suggestions as to what is causing this issue?
Thanks, in advance.

Re-flash CM. Its possible that something went wrong during the install process, leading to a corrupt file or driver. I HIGHLY recommend doing a nandroid backup. Wipe, re-flash CM and see what happens.
Report back if you run into any problems.
Has anyone been able to get the google wifi assistant working?
Yes. I flashed GCS, project fi and google dialer as system apps(for project fi) and wifi assistant is enabled(I assume it's working since wifi calling is also working).

can this be done without rooting? i am trying to keep google pay working - i used to see a dialog in rom toolbox, but i don't see it. google phone is working without flashing, just ran the APK. FI also works just fine seemingly.
I suspect i need to root, but then i have to unlock the bootloader etc?
From what I understand GCS must be a system app for wifi assistant to work. Google dialer can work without being system app but project fi won't work without google dialer and itself being a system app.
I don't currently use android pay I have read a few things about getting it working but I don't really remember enough for any useful comments on it at this time.
If wifi assistant is all you need you could just flash GSC(using opens gapps aroma package custom install and picking which apps is probably easiest way) with TWRP which can be installed on this device without unlocking bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/wip-axon-7-root-bootloader-unlokced-t3441204 You don't even have to the SU part.
I've had wifi assisant (as part of me wanted fulling functioning project fi) working on locked bootloader with root, unlocked bootloader with stock b27/29 ROMs and CM13.
does this work for b29? also is a factory reset 100% necessary?
There's a flashable B29 zip that you can flash after doing the TWRP/root on locked boot loader. Yes, everything will get wiped, if you have another device you can use that to make things a bit easier to set up(with copy accounts-make sure you have back up data enabled on one of the accounts) but it's still a pain.
is there a way to flash without root, ie using fastboot or adb etc?
if i install as a user app, then convert to system app, will that work? also project fi has to be a system app?
Any of you given Magisk a try? I have root, AP, and with this module: https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/AppSystemizer/blob/master/README.md I have user apps working as system apps, while leaving my system untouched!
As stated in the title, I can't load any web pages in Chrome, Firefox, and several other browsers. My wifi is fully functional, but I can't load anything related to web pages. So using the XDA App, I can browse the fourms fine, but if I were to open a link to Google or anything, it will crash and return to the XDA App. This occurs when I try opening links from apps like Facebook as well.
At first, I thought this was a ROM problem or something to do with my apps, so I format and decrypted my phone and clean flashed OOS 5.0.4. It seems to work well for some time, but returned a good hour later. Restarting each time it happens seems to fix it for a short while, but I am quite annoyed of constantly restarting because of this.
I've searched around and it doesn't seem like anyone else has this particular problem with their OP5s so I'd like to fix this up if I can.
I am still on OOS 5.0.4, but now with NewKernel 1.29 from the OP5T thread. I'm also rooted with Magisk beta v16.2 and have the Pixel 2 Oreo WiFi v4, OnePlus Camera M, NotoColorEmoji Patch Modules along with a systemless font module installed.
@StarzSkyz have you tried another network like mobile or other wifi?

Yeah, each time it happens I try swapping from WiFi to data, but no difference. I'm currently trying to see if it was due to restoring a certain backup from Titanium Backup. I did recently find a post speaking of the problem, but for the use of debloater somehow affecting it. So it may also be due to the loss a system app.

You said you did already a clean installtion. So clean install again without any restore of settings and 3rd party apps not provided by the rom :good:

I feel like an idiot for not remembering about doing that.
I've clean flashed and left all the apps enabled and the problem hasn't appeared again. After taking a TWRP backup of that (just in case I mess up something again) I rooted without any modules other than the WiFi Mod(which I did feel like it being one of the causes, but it helped with connection speed) and the systemless font module and tried restoring only user app data(so a fresh install from the play store and then a app data restore, not touching system apps at all) and thankfully it didn't cause any problems, so I got to restore some data back.
Thank you for the advice of actually just clean flashing again, cause I was actually slowly uninstalling and restoring my apps. I apologise for not posting as soon as I found the fully clean installation working, as I really couldn't help myself and try see if it was due to having root and my user apps. Once again, thank you for your help with my problem here. If it appears again, I'll probably post here again if it happens again (hopefully it doesn't).
Awhile back I rooted an old S4 and installed Optimized-LineageOS-19.1-Version-7.0. All seems well except that I cannot update or install anything from the PlayStore. PlayStore appears to be working, but all updates or installs stick at the "Pending..." status. I could use some suggestions on fixing this.
Note: The phone will be used with a WiFi connection only. It will not be assigned to a carrier.
Never mind. I found and followed the instructions here. Now the PlayStore works perfectly.
